Arcanatober Day 23– Mahadi’s Mystical Pack of Potions

Named for the famous rakshasa owner of the Emporium of Wonders, who you might have met if you’ve played the Descent Into Avernus campaign. The actual card for today’s draw was the Seven of Cups– or as it’s called in my deck, the Seven of Skulls. Kind of an appropriate mix, don’t you think?

Arcanatober Days 16 & 17– Coin Devil & Tarot Gate

Two more tarot-inspired creations today, one new devil for the ranks of the Nine Hells, and one magic item just waiting to be dropped into the lap of a 1st-level party to inspire a multiverse-traveling campaign. Honestly really love both of these, even removed from the lore and flavor I’ve designed for them (but didn’t have room to include)

Arcanatober Day 10– Urchin’s Lockbox

Derived from the 9th card of the deck, The Hermit, this lockbox is the exact sort of thing a player would want to get their hands on if they plan to try and infiltrate the sort of high society that doesn’t take well to strangers. That, or maybe a cult, a secret society, a military organization... Of course, it’s also the exact thing a crafty DM might want to use if they’re planning to do the classic “the prince is an imposter!” story but feel like doppelgangers are a little played out

Inspired by The Sun, nineteenth member of the Major Arcana, which has been swapped in my own deck for The Empress. An unusual combination, but I think I captured both sides pretty well

Arcanatober Day 6– Verminous Swarm / Fool’s Gold

Today’s tarot card was the Ace of Coins / 1 of Pentacles / 1 of Rats, an interesting card from the minor arcana with a lot of different meanings depending on which deck you’re using. But I was able to leverage that variety of intent into not just one, but two very interesting spells that use player wealth in two different ways. One makes fake coins, while the other transforms coins into rats. useful? Maybe. Fun? Definitely.

Arcanatober Day 12– Divine Verdict

Appropriately enough, Judgement in a standard tarot deck corresponds with Cruelty in my own. While this spell isn’t particularly cruel among all the spells d&d has to offer, it does channel the standards of Judgement pretty well, letting you judge three different creatures in three different ways. Just make sure you have at least one enemy to choose for Punishment

Arcanatober Day 24– Submerged Wraith

Inspired by a combination of The Star and The Drowned Man, I gotta say that I love this design. probably my favorite creature I’ve made so far this month.
