ARAS Fall Teen Internship: Day 4

Today I mounted images from the western world, particularly in the 18th century. For the earlier works of art the artist is often unknown and the art is created with the purpose of utility. Unlike more recent works of art that emphasizes on the aesthetic or message.  

Emmanuel continued to work with indexing the “Heaven & Hell” section of the library  by recording books’ titles, authors, publishers’ names and the year of publication. Audrey brought her school friend Simone; Audrey started organizing books in the “Moon, Sun and Stars” section so she could begin making an index of the section later.  Amelia did some dry-mounting and filing back what she dry-mounted into the drawers.

Day 1 of ARAS Fall Teen Internship Program!

There are four teens participating in the program (Pioneer Teens 2018 & 2019) this time.

We went over the schedule and talked about what we would be doing. Teens will be learning the things we do at our picture archive: image selecting (for ARAS files) dry-mounting these images, organizing/repairing the existing ARAS picture files, making indexes for our books, etc, etc. 

Chief Curator Ami gave a mini-lecture on “Self” and “numinous”, two important Jungian terms, then talked about “mandala”. Teens looked at different examples of mandala images in the Archive (which we have a great collection of), then made his/her own personal mandala, using pencils, crayons, and markers.
