Ariel could be a scholar. She’s curious and is ready to act on her curiosity. It would fit her if someone wrote a fic that made her a scholar and a bit older. She could be someone who studies others. She could study the interactions between merpeople and humans or a human scholar.

Ex of idea I just got: she could go on her adventures and venture between see and earth with the help of something or something magical as a part of her adventures then she decides to document her findings. She could fall for joe Eric , meet some merman or a human (or some mythical creature that lives on land) and fall for him. that character could be OC or a crossover.

Qué tiene que ver con Shipps? Bueno, el subordinado de Úrsula, mejor conocido como Eight Foot Joe, es constantemente emparejado con Ariel.

True Enough

Joe discovers that his love just might be true enough to save her naive soul.

He was there when it happened. 

In the cave. In the darkened waters as they brought her into the witch's home. Oh he knew her plan. He made no objections to her plan nor did he physically do anything to stop it. So why did it feel so surreal and shocking to see her swim into this miserable place. This is what she wanted all along. Isn't it what he wanted all along as well as her assistant? What they both wanted? He was the girl's friend to relay information and to help in everything that lead up to this moment! But..her shocked face seeing him there...

It hit him harder than it should've.

However she wasn't there to see him. She was there for HER. The sea witch. He was there when she asked to be turned human. And all for what? To pursue a Prince that she only met once?! He knew she a bit naive but not to these levels! But he should be happy that it made her fall into the witch's hands..Right? Then why did it make his chest tighten up so? It was so easy for her to be tricked.

"The only way to get what you want is to become a human yourself."

"Can you do that?"

He saw the EXACT moments of (excuse the pun) hook, line, and sinker. And his stomach sure sunk when seeing the witch's face.

"My dear, sweet child. It's what I do."

Despicable. Absolutely despicable.

"Now here's the deal. I'll make you a potion that'll turn you into a human for three days." She looked at him. Not at the witch. A look of concern that made him twist inside. But the witch made sure to pull her attention back to her. After all Ariel should pay attention. Ursula was always VERY specific with the effects of her spells and the rules she laid down. "Got that? Three. Days. Now listen. This is very important. Before the sun sets on the third day, you've got to get dear old princey to fall in love with you."

Three days? That's not enough time to properly fall in love. He should know. Ariel was dead set to fail. The sea witch definitely planned this thoroughly.

"That is he's got to kiss you. Not just any kiss. The kiss of true love." 

And there it is. The loophole. He was always able to spot them in her deals.

"If he does kiss you before the sun sets on the third day you'll remain human forever. But if not you'll turn back into a mermaid and you'll belong...to me."

He hoped if she had any smarts left she'd use them now.

"Have we got a deal?"

"If I turn human.. I'll never see my father or sisters again." She looked at him again with that pleading look of desperation like she was asking him for his input. For help.

He hoped to send back a mental message. Yes! Please!Think of your family instead of the prince you just met one night!!

"That's right. But you'll have your man. Life is full of tough choices isn't it? Oh! That reminds me. We haven't discussed the process of payment. You can't get something for nothing you know." What? What price? He wasn't told about this! "I'm not asking much. It's just a token. A trifle really. You'll never even miss it. What I want from you is...Your. Voice."

What?! What was she thinking? It would put her at an awful disadvantage more than what she already was at this point!! But...she agreed. Of course she did. And then this entire mess started. He could've done something but..Well at least he had the comfort of knowing that there was no way the prince would succeed. And he'd be lying if he said he was pleased with their intervention of that kiss. He took whatever time the witch wasn't looking to read EXACTLY what was written on that contract.

'I hereby grant unto Ursula the Witch of the Sea one voice in exchange for humanity. If true love's kiss is not met in three days time by sundown I forfeit to her my servitude for all eternity. Signed-'

And then her name was written there. Ah. Oh yes. He believed he knew exactly what was to be done about this. He just wondered what exactly would happen afterwards.

"You kissed me."

"So I did didn't I?"

The water was warm today. Very nice as they sat on the rocks. Of course..she didn't have any legs this time around again and had her voice back obviously or she wouldn't be able to talk to him. The rocks surface was smooth obviously smoothed out by the sea water waves rolling over them for so long. It made for a perfect spot for him to just lay there and stare at the blue sky. Well that was before a pouting face leaned over him to stare down at him.

"You know what I mean."

"So I do. ..Nice day isn't it?"

"Joe, don't change the subject. Why?"

"Because it was one way to ensure you'd have more chance of success. " His eyes looked to hers. "The written contract stated that in order for you to not become in her endless servitude you needed a kiss of true love didn't you? The written contract never said that it had to be from the prince specifically."

The salty fresh air smelt nice and it made her hair wave just right as her brows furrowed. He had the idea she looked quite nice with her hair flowing like that.

"But my voice..My legs." Her eyes glanced down to the shimmering emerald tail. "You didn't change anything."

"On the contrary. You got the voice back yourself all on your own." A hand reached up to flick her nose. She did look so adorable when her delicate hand grabbed at it in a pout. "The written agreement stated that a kiss of true love would keep you out of her servitude, and it had. However your verbal agreement made it so it had to be the prince to remain human. I wasn't the prince...So as a result of not keeping up the second bargain, you resumed your natural form." His form sat up shrugging his shoulders. "As for your voice...that was something you did on your own. Saving the prince and defeating Ursula was also your doing. Not mine."

"That wasn't funny." Her face remained scrunched in a pout as she rubbed at her nose making him huff a chuckle. "And even if what you say is true, nothing happened. I'm not human..Not.. anymore." Her beautiful blue eyes turned back out to the water. Still confused on such an idea. 

Such a thing was always a fun little expression for him to see on her.

"Silly girl. You don't have to be human to have the concept of humanity within you." The little head turned to him blinking. "That was why you saved him in the first place wasn't it? Because you had more humanity in you than anyone I've ever met. Including myself. Besides...Even if you had kissed Prince Eric, I doubt that it would've been enough."

"Why wouldn't it have been?!" He rose a brow at her sudden defense and frown. "Love is a strong concept that can break even the harshest evils."

"You really are a silly girl aren't you?" She was taken aback as she fully sat up, and suddenly finding the calmness of the waves hitting the edge of the rocks at his feet very interesting. "...Love at first sight doesn't exist. Love takes time and love takes work. At the very least you have to know the other person." An eye glanced her direction briefly. "And you literally know nothing about him."

Blue eyes widened at him. "But...I do know him."

He chuckled. "Yes. But how much? You know he's a prince. His name is Eric." A head tilted to distant land. A beautiful scenery of green and pearly white castle. "And he lives in a castle by the sea with a kingdom he rules over kindly. Oh yes. He is a very nice prince isn't he? But what else is there?" His head turn around to meet the wife eyed silly girl sitting beside him. "Being a kind and caring person is a very good thing, but what ELSE?"

"I-...what else?"

He slowly nodded. "Yes. What else? What else do you know about him? What else is there to him?" His hand was quick to tap her nose before she even noticed. "Does he make you laugh in joy? Is the way he carries himself something you like? What if you hate the way he does something? What if you two have too many different views on things? What if you find no attraction at all? It takes more than three days to get to know a real person."

Blue eyes went cross to look at the nose before back to him. "He saved my life-"

"And you saved his." A hand pointed at her. "And your father saved yours. ... Allow me to give you a truth. You need more than three days to love someone. Love at first sight does NOT exist. You can certainly have attraction at first sight, but love is like a flower. Anyone can be attracted to it's petals but it's not beautiful instantly. It takes time to be planted. It needs time to be nurtured and grown into a strong stem before anything beautiful can blossom from it. Attraction is only a factor. Not a whole."

The waves were his solace away from the staring of eyes as he turned towards the water's. So comforting with it's gentle feel and waved lulling you asleep like a lullaby.

"Then..You mean you-?"

"Would I have helped you the way I did if I didn't?"

There was a bit more of that calm silence.

"..How long have you- ..I mean when did you start-" She trailed off unsure of how to say it before gesturing to herself. "For me?"

...He shrugged. "I'm unsure of the exact amount of time, but I would say a few years. Certainly longer than three days." Eyes curiously side glanced at her. "... You're not with HIM right now. Curious. Isn't that what You've wanted from the start?"

"I-.." Blue eyes looked away. "I'm...not sure anymore." His head turned further to her. "Maybe I will but now.. Maybe I won't after all. I need more time to think about everything. And you."

"What about Eric?"

"If he loves me then he'll understand. ..If he loves me. I'm sure he at least cares."

He nodded. "He is a kind prince. I won't speak ill about someone when there's nothing to speak ill about. And...your family?" Her father?

She smiled brightly at him. "He's much better. I think he finally understands me now. They're glad to have me again."

He hoped that would last a long time too.

"Hm. And...Me?"

Her face went thoughtful for a moment humming before the same smile greeted him. "I believe if you love me, then you'll understand what entails too."

A blink of his eyes. And a turn of his reddened face greeted her giggles.

Out of all those recruiter x hero/princess/prince of their stories, which one do you think would actually work if things were done differently in their stories? This is for the platonic, family like vibes, and romances

I would hope that my personality pages already answered this question. And I think you've asked me that before as well. But for the new people in the fandom who want my opinion:

Apple Poison and Snow White:

My version of Apple starts off extremely cold, and dare I say charmingly sinister. Snowy probably wouldn't see him as a romantic option, and neither would he.

He's more amused by her than anything and finds her positive nature fascinating.

It could work if one wanted to flirt with the idea, and they would certainly be a more interesting pair than Snow and Prince Florian (Yes, that's the prince's actual name).

But personally, I see him more as a treasured friend and advisor to Snow than anything.

Jack Heart and Alice:

Big brother and little sister duo all the way!!

Though I'm a little concerned about how much ship fanart I see of them. And no, before anyone asks, it's not even adult Alice from the Tim Burton movies! She's her 12-year-old self from the 2d animated movie! Wtf guys???!!

With that out of the way, they would make the cutest sibling duo ever. Jack being the trickster, and Alice being the level-headed yet adventurous sister. So cute!

Malfi (Malfie) and Aurora

I actually like Prince Philip, but if we're looking at this from an alternate dimension, I could totally see Malfi and Aurora getting together.

Her kindhearted, playful nature would bounce off his vain and egocentric one perfectly. And it would even help give Aurora even more depth than she already did.

I had this one idea that after Maleficent dies, Malfi turns back into a raven. Maybe that could factor in why he's so indebted to Maleficent since he doesn't want to give up his "perfect" form. However, he does the right thing and lives in peace knowing that.

Whether you play up the tragic angle, as in, Malfi would give her up for her to be with Prince Philip in the end, or if you actually want them to end up together, it would be an interesting set up.

Eight Foot Joe and Ariel

I've seen this as a ship, and I understand why. It's an adorable one when you think about it: Grumpy guy and sweet girl. We've seen this set up thousands of times, and we can't get enough of it.

But here's the problem I have with this ship: Ariel is canonically 16. Granted, we don't know how old Joe is, but by my personal guess, he seems to be either a stress-aged young adult or a tired grown adult in his early 30s.

I know the recruiters look a lot older than they probably are due to their on-stage actors, but they also serve as our main source of info on the characters they play as.

Not to mention that Joe even calls Ariel "a little girl" when a guest asks him about her, which indicates that he sees her as someone way younger than him.

Personally, I see them having an uncle and niece dynamic.

If we're reimagining the movie with Joe in it, he would probably be known across the sea as a servant of Ursula. I mean, it's kinda hard to hide when you're the only other cecaelian around.

Maybe a young Ariel met him when he was just an octopus before Ursula transformed him. Hence why Ariel can't recognize him years later.

You could do a lot with this idea and play around with Joe being an uncle figure in Ariel's life.

Mr. Dalmatia and...the Dalmatians?

I guess they are the main characters, right?

In all seriousness, Dalma would've been adopted straight away by Pongo and Perdita if he hadn't been accidentally left behind during the escape. He would drink up their parental praise like his favorite juice. Still a brat, though, but a cute one for sure.

Pretty Scar (Mzuri) and Simba

If circumstances were different, I could see Simba, Nala, and Mzuri being friends when they were younger. Mzuri would go along with Scar's rule because she's forced to by relatives. But to redeem herself, she helps Pumbaa and Timon distract the other hyenas when Simba comes back.

If I were to add Mzuri in the story without them knowing each other, I can only really see them settling their differences in the second movie since hyenas are not respected in the Lion King universe at all.

Going by this route, PS would either despise Scar after he cowardly cast the blame towards the hyenas, or PS still clings to Scar even after he died and helps to raise Kovu.

In my mind, Mzuri would hate Scar after his betrayal, so maybe after wandering around for a few years, she catches wind of Zira's plot to overthrow Simba and wants to put a stop to it.

Ms. Hades and Hercules

Aunt and nephew relationship. She'd be reluctant at first to get close to him, but she can't resist his compassionate nature and would give him advice when she could.

I could see her looking after him in secret on earth without Hades knowing. She, alongside Phil, would train him. And MH would have inside knowledge on Hades' plans.

Veil and Quasimodo

In a perfect world where these two weren't manipulated by a horrid man who dared to call himself an archdeacon, they would see each other as siblings.

In the true world, however, if Veil was in the picture, she wouldn't hate Quasimodo, but she would ignore him. The bell ringer himself would be the only one to think of himself and Veil as siblings.

After Frollo dies, they both talk about their experiences and slowly work their way towards a brother - and sister-esque relationship.

Lady Hock, Peter Pan, and Wendy

If Hock was on the winning side, she'd be the best older sister/cool aunt towards Peter, Wendy, and the Lost Boys.

She would be protective of them, read them stories, help Wendy keep her sanity every time she visited, and even take care of Jane.

Faja, Aladdin, and Jazmine

Again, speaking in this hypothetical perfect world, Aladdin, Faja, and Abu would have been best friends. Maybe even siblings.

Faja would have been far away from Jafar's influence and twisted mind games. Her fiestiness and insecurity would still be there, but she her trust and security with Aladdin and Abu would overcome her fear.

She'd probably still want to learn magic, but she'd learn on her own terms.

However, in the true movie-verse, she would need to get over her misguided hatred towards Aladdin. He has everything a street rat like her could ever want, of course that would spawn jealousy.

In the end, she would team up with Aladdin in the "Jafar Returns" movie and later become the royal magician after Faja works on herself.

About that fanart shipping of NRC boys with their respective heroine/hero... i PERSONALLY don't see the charm/chemistry of them, not that i want to invalidate your opinion. I just don't see the NRC boys falling with the heroine/hero and vice versa. Since i think it would be more like the heroine/hero is more mature/old than the NRC bois... like a mentor(?) or some sort.

But i do like some villainxhero ship dynamics. Which is why i PERSONALLY like more Disney Villain Recruiters x the heroine(?).

Disney Villain Recruiters is more like the henchman of the villain/villainess. Not their son/daughter, that is what i got of understanding.

I think they are more...cute(?)... There are more fanarts and comics(?) of them with the heroine.

And there are also some fanart (not shipping fanart) of the Disney Villain Recruiters with the NRC boys.

I think it could go either way. I agree; some of the characters wouldn't go for overly heroic types like Ace, Ruggie and Leona. But others I think some of the characters could fall for a more heroic type like Deuce, Riddle, Vil and some of the others I've mentioned. Hell, Malleus seems to have budding feelings for Yuu, depending on how you're looking at things. (Not gonna confirm nor deny that one. I'm not Yana. Hell, the game isn't even finished yet, so I have no idea where some plotlines are gonna head. But if I'm being honest, it does sound like he's flirting with the player character sometimes in the actual canon storyline.) The characters would have varying "types" of partners that they would go for, so I don't see it where ALL of the characters are attracted to villain types. After all, a group that large would have wildly different opinions when it comes to romance.

For me, I like villain/villain (thiefshipping in the YGO fandom is still an OTP of mine years later and love me some kanej...if you count that) and hero/hero, but hero/villain draws me more. It can be super fun to play around with, and I find to be a lot more interesting/entertaining (like darklina or lotura... before that series jumped the shark).

But that's just me. Having said that everyone has their own ships and opinions, which is completely cool. To each is their own.

As a side note, I completely forgot about the Disney Villain Recruiters until you just brought them up just now. I know I looked them up awhile ago. The only ones I kinda remember are Poison Apple and Jack Heart. It might be me just being more of a western Disney nerd, since we don't have those characters in the western Disney parks. I'm really going down the rabbit hole of my old underated ships rn. Speaking of rabbit holes, I keep finding said rabbit holes in Pinterest that led me to these ships and I felt like gushing about it into the void.

To start off, since not many people know of them in Japan's Disney Theme Park they have this group called Disney Villain Recruiters comprised of original characters that do not exist in the original movies. They're basically popular villains' henchmen. Villains like the Evil Queen, Maleficent, Ursula, Scar, Frollo, Cruella, etc, etc.

I found some fanart on Pinterest and immediately fell in love, I thought they were someone's ocs. Turns out nope and since basically most of the artists are from Japan since the group is exclusive to Japan, I cant really read any content they make. Nevertheless I'm pretty lucky the fandom is small but has alot of material.

So anyway two of my favs are Apple Poison and Eight Foot Joe (no he's not 8 foot tall). I dont wanna repost art so I'll provide the actors. You can search up fanart bc there's an abundance of them.

I'll mostly be talking about Joe, so basically he's Ursula's guy. Pretty obvious which one he is. I really like him, the characters dont have like overly detailed wikis about them but like apparently he's overworked he has bags under his eyes and yawns alot.

Like everything about this guy screams overworked professional, no nonsense type of guy. And I just really like Ariel being paired with him bc like Ariel is so whimsy, always in a dreamy state, princess so pampered and rebellious.

Idk I just really like that dynamic bc it's so funny to me. They'll bounce off each other and learn from one another kinda like rubbing each other's qualities on each other. Ariel could become more mature and responsible while Joe gets to be more relaxed with her. Also kinda enemies to besties to lovers!

Like God I love them so much. Also what's great about them is that I said before there's very little info about these characters so anyone is able to add their spin to it without minimal restrictions to stay canon. I seriously needed to get this off of my chest.
