Pokemon fanart was how I started taking art seriously over a decade ago; and Ash’s journey is coming to a close is extremely bittersweet. I’m an adult who has been drawing for what feels like forever, but it still kinda feels like the training wheels are coming off.

The me who started off copying drawings from the Pokedex book at the library would be amazed at what I can do now! Thank you to the many people who have worked on the Pokemon Anime for this journey. And thank you for a character whose fierce determination and relentless optimism has inspired so many.

My personal theory as to why Ash's Pikachu won't evolve is because he knows he's an abnormal sort of Pikachu, as implied by Team Rocket early on in the show, and also implied by Ash's Pikachu pulling off certain moves and feats no other Pikachu could ever do. Something to do with his genetics or something, I don't know. Anyway, if he were to evolve, his abnormalities would be cancelled out, and he'd be a regular Raichu instead of being an abnormally strong Pikachu. It'd actually be a DOWNgrade instead of an UPgrade. I also think the Pikachu and the Eevee from the Let's Go games are the same way.

I like that headcanon better than Pikachu's idiotic sense of pride…

And this might just be me, but I also think Pikachu's abnormalities are also the reason his Level seems to reset after certain major events (at the start of every region or after the end of every region). Pikachu's Level resetting is the tradeoff for his immense power.

Shout out to Squirtle, Butterfree, Primeape, Pidgeot, Lapras, Ambipom, Goodra, Greninja, and Nagenadel, who all left Ash for personal reasons but who never forgot him or stopped loving him

Shout out to Larvitar and Nebby, who never officially belonged to Ash but who consider themselves as his anyway.

Shout out to every Pokémon that chose Ash as their trainer and stuck with him ever since.

Shout out to Pikachu, who was the first to see and understand Ash’s heart and the enormous capacity he has for love and strength.

Wanted to draw Ash and friends in my style, plus figure out my character’s height compared to these guys, so I drew this!

Kalikat (Kal for short) is 21, making them the only adult of the group LMAO. Why are these children allowed to roam the land on their own without adult supervision like 😭 there are literal monsters that can kill them and groups of bad guys that want to hurt them? So yeah my self-insert character would be the legal adult/guardian of the group aghdkf don’t mind the fact that they are short and kinda childish!
