Hi my name is Olivia Lulu Caliban and i have long hair in a turban like a fortune teller (that’s how I got my name) which is brown with bangs and dark brown eyes like dirt and a lot of people tell me I look like Esme Squalor (AN: If u don’t know who she is get da hell out of here!). I’m not related to count Olaf but I wish I was because he’s a major fuckin hottie. I’m a fortune teller but I look normal. I’m also a librarian. I work at carnival where I am the boss. Today I am wearing a purple dress with purple lipstick and purple eyeshadow. I walked around the carnival. A bunch of freaks stared at me. I put up my middle finger at them.
Look at the tattoo Neil got to celebrate the announcement of season 2! #ASOUE (via @nph) I forgot to post this—better late than never amirite? #asouenetflix #aseriesofunfortunateevents #unfortunateevents #lemonysnicket #netflix
"A Series of Unfortunate Events" on Netflix is excellent. As someone who has recently reread all the books (and extra books), took extensive notes and analyzed the mysteries, I can confidently say I love it so far. Sunny, my favorite character, is portrayed very well so far. I'm only two episodes in, but my heart is bursting ((figuratively)) ;) The World is Quiet Here. #ASOUE #asouenetflix #aseriesofunfortunateevents #vfd #eye

I recently rewatched the ASOUE movie and was as meh about it as I was when I was watched it long ago as a kid. The problem with it finally hit me: the movie thinks that Count Olaf is the main character. This is likely because Count Olaf is the most prominent adult character and it’s hard to rely on child actors to carry a movie. However, the core of the series (I’m rereading it) is 1) the Baudelaire orphans 2) Lemony Snicket. Count Olaf himself is basically a plot device (well, you could argue all the characters in this series are essentially plot devices but that’s another post for another late night) and only matters insofar as he affects the Baudelaires. He is also consistently threatening and violent in the first two books. By the third book, the “Captain Sham” character starts to take off some of his edge. As the books go on, Olaf gets broader and his violence grows sillier. Parallel to this, the guardians themselves get worse and worse. Only when the mystery plot picks up does Olaf start to get some of his menace back (ie the surgery sequence in Hostile Hospital). However, to get back to my original point, I gather from reviews of the Netflix series that Lemony Snicket’s role as the narrator is foregrounded. It’s Snicket’s unique style of writing, odd predilections, and mysterious connection to the Baudelaires that holds the series together more than anything and I suspect this is the main factor in making the Netflix series feel more like the books. (Or at least, I hope!)
Some fan art, im loving this show! Count olaf is terrifying, I wish I could do home more justice! #art #artist #drawing #count #olaf #countolaf #aseriesofunfortunateevents #asouenetflix #Netflix #fanart #fanartfriday #doodle #ink #pencil #blah
