sekhmet, goddess of vengeance (asteroid 5381)
Tumblr media
Sekhmet means "she who is powerful". It is believed that she was created from the fire of Ra's eye when he looked at earth and saw the disloyalty of humanity. His ire towards humankind made her a weapon; she was meant to destroy those who were disobedient to the gods. She became ruthless and had a great bloodlust; she killed so many people that Ra had to devise a plan to calm her. He gave her a mixture of red wine and blood - she drank it believing that it was purely blood and became more peaceful. In some versions, she passes out and Ra removes part of her essence to create Bast or Hathor. After the drink (in either version), she was less bloodthirsty and more manageable. IN MY OPINION Sekhmet in your chart can represent a) where you are powerful, b) where you seek vengeance, c) where your wrath gets the better of you, d) where you are ruthless, and/or e) where a part of you is missing after a moment in life where you are too angry/powerful.

i encourage you to look into the aspects of sekhmet along with the sign, degree, and house placement. for the more advanced astrologers, take a look at the persona chart of sekhmet AND/OR add the other characters involved to see how they support or impede sekhmet!

hathor, goddess of love and fertility (asteroids athor (161) / hathor (2340))
this was a private request for this goddess who has two asteroids. athor was discovered in 1876 while hathor was discovered in 1976 after being flagged as a potentially hazardous asteroid then was later named hathor after the goddess (seems like a reference to her lioness days which we will discuss below). feel free to use one over the other or both - doesn’t matter to me :)!
on to hathor.
Tumblr media
Hathor is considered one of the oldest gods/goddesses within Egyptian myth, often she is associated with Isis and, before that, Sekhmet. Some sources state that because of Hathor there is an Egyptian pantheon. Often the creation myth indicates that she was the hand that caused Ra (sometimes it's Ptah) to ejaculate and create the other godly beings as well as the world. In other versions, Hathor is considered Ra's right eye, eventually he found a new right eye - angry with this she cried and her tears created the humanity and other gods (sometimes it’s just men in general). Hathor was also Ra's daughter. Ra often sends Hathor to punish humans - once she transformed into a lioness to hunt those who made fun of Ra for being too old to rule when he wished to step down. This caused Hathor to be a bit bloodthirsty because when Ra said enough yet she continued to kill humans. Ra then asks Tjenenet, the goddess of beer, to intoxicate Hathor so she’d become docile once more. Hathor is also famously the goddess who restored Horus's sight. Set left the blind Horus alone on the mountaintop. Hearing his cries of pain Hathor caught a gazelle, milked, then poured the milk into Horus's empty eyes - it was then that his eyesight was restored. It is also in Horus's myth in which Hathor is beheaded and becomes cow-headed. Hathor is related to many other things: death - she welcomes people into the world of the dead, healing - she allegedly treated many of the sick, beauty and dance - she was consider very joyful, etc. IN MY OPINION Hathor in your chart represents a) where you are fertile or a creator, b) where you are reborn, c) where you nurture others, d) where you punish others for ostracizing your family, e) how you heal others, and/or f) how you welcome others.
