hey!! I absolutely love the vibes of your blog! I’m getting into bungo stray dogs (or trying to :’) ) and since you seemingly write fics for it, do you have more recs?? First and foremost is the widely beloved I Was Screaming Your Name Through The Radio by ElectricSplatter, which is just a rollercoaster of emotions that grip you by the throat. Do note that the chapters are hella long, but enjoyable. The relationships are fleshed out beautifully.

Magic and Mystery by Allegory_for_Hatred is also a good start because it's a bsd and hp crossover that's just, amazing. Had me up at 3am until I physically could not read. There's an ongoing sequel too!

wtf, since when are you married? by xxalwayssofia is a short, quick laugh that, for me, had one of the best characterization for soukoku. Sofia's stories in general (check her account!) have got the character's personality traits down with little creative liberties.

Ne Chuuya, won't you marry me? is another one by xxalwayssofia, and I die of laughter because of this on a daily basis.

Now, I may be mean for suggesting this, but this fic is a diamond found within a gold mine that will eventually end you up in jail because some rich dude probably owned it first. In summary, it hurts. Like a gunshot wound (wink wink to the readers). And that is Ruiner by gev_ao3 (rated the E-est of E's)! The long-awaited consequence chapter is already out for this one, so when you binge read it the ending will hopefully be satisfying. Just be aware this is incredibly graphic, psychological, and angst-filled to the brim.

I read If the Far Side Saw You by birbleh a considerable time ago, but it both pinches and caresses my heart all the same. I haven't anything else to say other than give it a chance.

Ice Queen by TheHighQueen is a great ongoing Dazai genderbend fic, that follows canon with interesting diverging road stops.

This Color Ain't It by justcallmedude has Kenji, our lovable super strength-powered farmer, as a main character! Crossover between bsd and mha with a dash of angst thrown here and there.

For a shin soukoku pairing fic, I'd suggest Fair Ankles by spirallings (rated E) and love knows no boundaries by dangodangomilk; fun, interesting stories that aren't that long, the latter's a oneshot and the former's ugh, just around 100k words :>

One of the first bsd fics I've read, which is with a fyozai pairing, is Letters from the Underground by ktaem! The writing style has its own refined edge, with the exploration of a what-if scenario that had me by hook, line, and sinker. This fic is still in my tab group because I always keep rereading it!

Now if we're entering the explicit territory, I will forever recommend my favorite series (pairing is chuuda btw) Ineffable Partners by Ch_ee_rios. The eighth installment is currently updating, and I promise, you will cry- or at least feel a significant gut punch.

Head Full of Lies by AbsoluteNegation, as my friend one said, is where the good shit's at. The premise had me instantly curious and soukoku's dynamic is wonderful, messy, and DAMN I LOVE THIS FIC SO MUCH.

Mors Vincit Omnia by themadtree, an soukoku and fyolai fic that will have you bending over and dying of laughter and pain. The author's other works (akai!) are also very good.

The series all that is left by alaruya is a personal favorite of mine. The writing style is unique, with choppy sentences and tear-jerker lines. Was the first story that ever had me thinking, "god I need to bookmark this," and I did.

Bottom of The Deep Blue Sea by arkastadt is a filthy, guilty pleasure. (can you tell I'm an avid bottomzai reader?)

And that's it... I think? I'm also willing to suggest Leafing Through The Pages, I Found You by YunaYamiMouto, but letting you know it's an ongoing reaction fic of the bsd cast to Dazai's life (with the author's own creative choices and headcanons), so there will be a lot, and I mean a HECK TON of spoilers. Which, to be fair, the other fics do have in sprinkles, but this tackles novel events that maybe you'd wish to read at your own pace :D

ok i wanna make my own tips post for the redditors

hello welcome :] here's some things i've noticed it seems a lot of you aren't aware of. i might add more later:

first of all, PLEASE turn on custom theme! you don't have to actually make or find a theme yourself as it gives you a default one, (but it is really fun and good to personalize your blog however you want) but doing this makes it easier to view and search your own blog, as i will describe later. this makes it so that you will show up at yoururl.tumblr.com and not just tumblr.com/yoururl it gives you your own page! it's good!! you can only tick this setting on desktop:

another very important thing: DO NOT FUCKING REPOST ART WITHOUT CREDIT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. honestly you should not report art without permission at all, but at LEAST credit the artist. and saying "idk who did this but credit to them" DOES NOT COUNT. take some time to reverse google image search and find the artist. if you can't find them, DON'T REPOST!!! turning the art into a meme doesn't mean you don't have to credit the artist!!!!!! AAHHH!! ok.

TAGS/SEARCHING in reblogs, all tags serve to do is (a) leave a bit of quiet commentary, if you're too shy to leave it in the actual body of the post or (b) organize posts on Your Blog Only. tagging a reblog does not make the post show up in the searchable tag. reblogs are not searchable through the tumblr search bar.

to find posts from a certain tag on your own blog, go to yoururl.tumblr.com/tagged/tag. you can also add /chrono to the end of that url to view the posts in chronological order! you actually don't need to tag original posts with every variation of a tag either. for example if you tag something as "r/196", it will show up when just "196" is searched for, because it contains "196" in it. so you dont NEED to tag the post "196, r196, r/196" etc. but i mean. do whatever u want. honestly i think a lot of veteran tumblr users don't even know that. but yeah tagging with a ton of variations like that is unnecessary unless you're spelling something differently or doing an abbreviation as well as a full title, such as "#what we do in the shadows, #wwdits"

also, your posts are searchable by literally any word in the post, whether it be the body, the tags, or even your url. so if your url has 'catboy' in it, and someone searches 'catboy' they will see all of your original posts in the tag lmao. it is pretty stupid but that's how it works.

on that note, FILTERING with filtering tags, it is very specific. so if youre content warning tagging something, please just tag it with the word, like "#blood" because if you tag it "#cw blood" or "#blood ///" people who just have "#blood" blocked, will still see the post! lots of veteran tumblr users don't seem to grasp this either 😭

you can filter out words as well as tags, but that can get tricky because if you filter out "rape" words like "grape" and "drape" will also be blocked, so i only use the word filter to block peoples urls. because even if you have someone blocked, you can still see people reblogging their posts, so if u don't wanna see them at all, block their url as a filtered word.

you can do all of this in the regular ol' 'settings' tab on desktop. on mobile it's settings -> general settings -> filtering

PAGES something i love about tumblr but is getting used less and less is the ability to make separate pages on your blog. the option to do so is all the way at the bottom on the theme customization panel. (only available on desktop tumblr)

nowadays a lot of people just make a carrd and provide a link to that, but tumblr allows you to make your own separate blog pages! a lot of people use this to make "about me" pages, since it provides a lot more freedom than just the "blog description" section! you can put images on there, and just completely code the whole thing yourself! unfortunately, these pages aren't visible on mobile unless you link to them in your blog description (see my blog as an example) using <a href="link">link title</a> lots of people have links like this in their descriptions that lead to about pages or carrds! you should click on these to learn more about the person you're following!!

some people have "DNI (do not interact)" or "BYF (before you follow)" pages to set boundaries on who they do or don't want following them, as a warning of like "hey if you fall under this criteria and you follow/interact with me, you're getting blocked" so those are good to check for! some folks have lots of strong opinions on these that theyre "stupid" or "useless" but really it's just a warning and setting boundaries. like, if you follow me and ur not supposed to, i'm just gonna block you anyway, it was just a warning that that's what was gonna happen!

speaking of blocking, just fuckin' block whoever you want whenever you want. if you find someone annoying just block them. if they post something you don't like just block them. there's no need to get into an argument. just block! and they're gone! wheeee!!

SIDEBLOGS!!! you can have separate blogs from your main one that are connected to your same account! some people have tooooons of sideblogs for every single fandom they're in, some people just use their main for everything. it's up to you!

note that you can only like posts, send asks, follow people, and reply to posts under your main blog url. sideblogs are just for posting and reblogging in a more organized manner :] it's good to say in the description of your side blog what your main blog is so people know who you are when you like and reply to posts and such! (and also to list your sideblogs somewhere on ur main for the same reason. i use the aforementioned about page for this ^u^)

i have,,,, a few thoughts about the new discord layout, and im sure you guys do too. i think it is borderline unusable, it is not “intuitive” and “streamlined” or whatever the fuck, and i’m genuinely really angry about it. if you guys AT ALL feel similarly, please send discord some feedback. i just sent some (i will attach my veritable essay of a response after this) and i NEVER do that. i can count the number of times i’ve sent feedback on one hand. but i’m angry, and i feel like it will help, so i did.

another problem is with the pins. the old way of organizing them was good! in this one, you can’t see images, and in dms it doesn’t differentiate between who sent what message. bad design.

ALSO also, the message search/ selecting pins is broken (if it’s on purpose it’s just *bad*). why does it take you to another…. tab, basically, of the same messages? and why whenever you hit the back arrow (even in settings, once, to get out of a section) does it take you all the way back to the main messaging area???

i’m so sorry to whoever has to read this ridiculously long complaint, but you guys fucked up your own site. it is borderline unusable. please do not change the computer version of discord, because i will have to leave for my own sanity and i don’t want to do that. i genuinely love discord but the change is (in the words of a blog i follow) worse than tumblr rolling out tumblr live. and look how much people hated that one.”

I don’t— I don’t even know how to answer this bc…😭😭😭🥺🥺🥺🥰🥰🥰 I would not consider myself talented at all 😫 I personally feel like I’m breaking all the rules when I write bc I don’t know them, the do’s and don’ts. I read an article the other day, and I def did everything on their “never do this” list. I look at other ppl’s writing and constantly think “dammit, I’ll never be that good!” So I dunno. I’m just making it up as I go along and learning a bit more each time. I still feel like a newbie even tho I’ve been writing fic for 2 years now. Since I never wrote before that, I feel like I’m playing catch up all the time. So yeah, no idea if this made sense, but I was blown away and am kinda reeling about your ask. Like, “who me?” So thank you from the bottom of my heart 💕💕💕 gonna turn into a puddle now 😭

To get to the other part, I did answer an ask awhile back that included suggestions for writing motivation and what works for me (again with the caveat that I’m more familiar with nonfiction writing). It’s super long, but I think it applies to your ask. I’ll link it here. There’s a lot of info there. I will say. I did try writing sprints after I wrote this, and honestly they got me thru last year’s Skam Big Bang. I’m easily distracted, but the sprints kept me focused. No sneaking off to tumblr 😂. And I also liked seeing how much progress I was making in real time. So yeah, sprints are great!

Other advice I didn’t mention in that post:

Write what makes you happy, what excites you, what brings you joy. It’s so easy to get bogged down with “will anyone like this? ” It doesn’t matter. Unless you’re trying to publish, which is a whole diff world outside of my experience, fic writing is for you and about you. It’s about your love for the characters or the show or the world. You’re sharing that love with ppl, and whether 30 or 300 or 3000 ppl read it, you’ve made someone’s life better. I still struggle with this, but in the end I ask myself what matters most, being proud of my story and being happy that I wrote it, or the kudos? I have a fic with 11 kudos, and that’s okay. So I guess what I’m trying to say is don’t focus on the numbers. Focus on writing what makes you happy. (Also the age old, write what you know 😂—but I have a whole shadowhunters collection, and I’ve def never swung a sword or fought a demon, so...).

So in a similar vein, there’s also the “is this any good?” question that haunts us. Honestly, just put words on the paper!! It doesn’t matter. Try something new. Experiment. See what you’ve got in you. You’ll never know if you don’t try. Try try again. You’ll grow and improve and learn about yourself, but that only works if you start somewhere. Fic writing isn’t about being a perfect, great literary author, it’s about finding joy in sharing the story that’s in your head with ppl who also love those characters. Plenty of ppl slap up unedited stories. There’s no expectation. We’re out there having fun. And anyway, writing is a process, your stories will improve from one to the next. Just keep writing. 

Don’t be afraid to take ideas from real life. So many of my fics are grounded in reality. Anything can be inspiration for a story. I had an ER nurse who looked like Merlin, and a sobbe fic was born (odd correlation, i know). I got bogged down thinking about how kinnporsche got their shirts off while handcuffed together, and another sobbe fic was born. You can also use fic/plot generators or ask for prompts if you need ideas. 

I don’t do this bc I don’t like being bombarded by information, but a lot of ppl follow writing and author’s blogs. They give out great advice, and Neil Gaiman in particular is very active and often adds to posts. 

Internet searches are your best friend. I have at least 30 tabs open when I’m writing fic. A thesaurus tab and all kinds of research tabs. You can google anything. Need to know what exact set list Queen with Adam Lambert played in Brussels in 2019, you can find that. (I did, haha). Sometimes it helps to ground your story in reality so that it feels more real to you. Will anyone notice? Read, read, read. As I said before, I never wrote stories, nor did I study creative writing. But i read a hell of a lot. I think that helps. I understand plot and character. I know grammar. I know the mechanics of story writing. I think there’s something to be said that the more you expose yourself to the literary world, the more you will be able to function within it. You’ll pick up on how things are done--plot organization, character development, etc. Also sometimes it can be just as helpful to learn what not to do.

I don’t know if this is even remotely helpful. I hope it is. I am a very insecure writer, and I still don’t think of myself as one. I’m still surprised I’ve written half a million words of fic. I hope this came across as more hopeful and helpful than negative nancy, but i do understand the woes and struggles of writing too. Please let me know if there’s something more specific. This was very general.

The application assumes that you know what needs to be changed and what doesn’t, so you might want to check up a few tutorials and how-to’s before jumping into action. Starting with the basic controls regarding attributes like strength, agility and stamina, all the way to special weapon proficiencies and obviously the armors themselves, everything is left for you to decide. Finding information is simple and straightforward, as long as you know what you are looking for and you at least have an idea about role-playing games and how the characters function in them. The first thing you might notice when you run the application is the sheer number of tabs and options it provides you with, all of which are arranged in a very intuitive and helpful way. Obviously, these settings depend on the game in question, since not all of them accept the same kind of attributes. Hero Lab, as the name clearly suggests, is a simple and efficient tool you can use to generate, adjust and customize characters for a variety of role-playing games, as well as set up almost every parameter when it comes to attributes, skills and even armor proficiency. A Tumblr Guide for Newbies

Wondering how to get started on Tumblr, what Tumblr culture is like, and who some of the big names are? Read on! It's a bit long, but hopefully it's approachable!

Starting Out

Welcome to Tumblr! To Twitter refugees, the morbidly curious, and everyone in between, welcome!

The first thing you want to do before you do anything on Tumblr is add an icon. You can do this by clicking the person-shaped Account icon, going to Settings, then clicking on your blog in the sidebar. You may also optionally wish to customize your blog’s colors and banner here, but you can come back to that later. 

The reason it is important to add an icon right away is because a default icon makes veteran Tumblr users suspicious that you may be a bot, and they may block you. Your icon can be anything you wish, but Picrews are sometimes looked down on (though not always), and if you are a pretty female-appearing individual you may not wish to use a photo of yourself (this is another sign of a possible bot).

Next, before you interact with too many blogs on Tumblr, you will also want to add a post or two. You can just start reblogging right away if you wish, or you can type up a quick intro post. An empty blog is another warning sign of a bot account.

An important aspect of Tumblr is that there is no real algorithm to speak of. There’s a “For You” page but it doesn’t work very well. Tumblr users love the lack of an algorithm, because it means that there’s a lack of predatory data tracking, the website will never deliberately funnel you into rage clicks and radicalization, and the things you want to see will always be the things shown to you. However it does mean that it can be difficult to start out, because you are starting from nothing.

You’re going to want to find some blogs to follow! It helps if you already know a Tumblr user or two– you can follow them, and they can suggest some more blogs to you. If you’re starting from scratch, try searching the tags for subjects or fandoms you’re interested in, and following a few blogs from there. If you don’t enjoy them, you can always unfollow later. Remember that Tumblr’s search function is generally unreliable, won’t always show you everything under a certain tag, and is nearly impossible to use to find specific posts. It’s good enough for getting a start in browsing, though.

You may also wish to follow a few tags for subjects you are interested in. Not everyone does this, but it can be useful when just starting out to find more content. To do this, go to the Your Tags tab and click Manage.

There is also a function on the site called Tumblr Live. Please be advised that no Tumblr regulars like, want, or use Tumblr Live, despite the fact that the website keeps pushing the feature. We’re pretty sure that Tumblr staff brought in people specifically to use Tumblr Live, because none of the people on it seem like our… type, so to speak. They’re just trying to attract the TikTok crowd. You can “Snooze” Tumblr Live for 7 days by going to Settings, then Dashboard, then scrolling to the bottom to toggle the option. There is no setting to turn it off completely despite vocal demand for it. Be advised that if you use Tumblr Live, this will probably alienate you from Tumblr veterans. I have been informed that the above does not currently apply to EU nationals, who are not subjected to Tumblr Live.

Going forward, you may choose to either Like or Reblog posts as they appear on your Dashboard. Keep in mind that unlike some other social media sites, your Likes are not public (or at least, you should toggle this option off– see below), and serve only as either a bookmark for yourself, or a small kudos to the OP. If you want to share the post with your own followers, or show major appreciation to the OP, you should Reblog it. This is especially appreciated by artists! Some people will tell you that “Likes Do Nothing”, but they can still be useful to track posts you have already seen or just give a little nod and a wave to the OP or the person who reblogged it. The more you reblog, the more likely your blog is to gain traction. It is difficult for someone who mostly makes original posts to get a foot in the door, especially in light of the previously mentioned unreliable Search feature.

If you would like to comment on a post, there are three ways to do this, and each has different use cases. If you want to say something to the OP directly, you may use the comment function. 

Most commonly, people put their commentary in the tags of the post. This allows you to make a remark or humorous aside without cluttering the post for others. If someone likes your tags enough, they may screencap or copy your tags and add them to the post themselves in a process sometimes called Peer Review. Sometimes people will also tag a post “#prev” or “#prev tags” to agree with the tags of someone they reblogged from, but older Tumblr users do not tend to prefer this, as reblog chains can get messy, and blogs often rename or deactivate. It can sometimes still be used just as a nod to the person you follow.

It is possible to add your commentary directly to the post, but this is not recommended unless you strongly feel that what you have to say is important or very funny. The difference between using tags or adding to the text post has been likened to the difference between whispering to your friends versus getting up on stage. 

There are two settings that Tumblr makes available that most Tumblr users turn off: Best Stuff First and Based On Your Likes. These can be toggled off under Settings, then Dashboard, then Preferences. You will also want to go to your own Blog settings and make sure that sharing for Likes and Follows is toggled off (no one likes this). 

Tumblr Culture & Politics

Tumblr users have a love-hate relationship with Staff. Of course we love our Hellsite, and we want it to remain as is– free of algorithms, aggressive marketing, and the other features that make other social media sites unlivable. As such, Staff generally has a lighthearted and casual way of addressing the userbase, and there is often mutual ribbing. However, Staff have made a number of controversial moves in the past (the porn ban, adding Tumblr Live, inconsistent moderation choices, etc) that have given the users some skepticism towards them. Financially supporting Tumblr can be sometimes controversial; some will cite Tumblr’s past transgressions as a reason not to support them while others will point out that Tumblr needs our support to keep running as it does specifically because they don’t sell our data like other websites.

On a related note, Tumblr users are notoriously difficult to market to and tend to resent marketing and advertisement. Brands and celebrities (with a couple notable exceptions, see Famous Tumblr Users) are widely shunned, most use ad block (few pay for ad free), and it can be difficult for even independent artists and small stores to promote their work. Some Tumblr users see any attempt to make money outside of charitable fundraising and crowdfunding to be bad, although this is a particularly extreme view not held by all.

Politically, a majority of Tumblr is left leaning, often queer, and leftist infighting is common. It is best not to get involved for the sake of your sanity. Regrettably there is a small and stubborn foothold of TERFs and other such bigots. Block, do not engage. You may report if you wish, but as mentioned above, moderation on Tumblr can be inconsistent. If you are very worried about encountering TERFs, many use an app known as Shinigami Eyes, which highlights transphobic social network pages in red.

Tumblr was once infamous for particularly insane hot takes, and while this still happens, the general consensus is most of the worst users left when the porn ban took effect and went to places like Twitter and TikTok. Tumblr is protective of its current cultural ethos and users do not want to see a return to the likes of early 2010s culture. Outside of Tumblr it is common for people to either perceive the website as dead, or as full of insane people. We like to keep it that way. A certain style of aggressively weird or cringe blogging, known as Rent Lowering Gunshots, is sometimes employed to dissuade users of a more delicate sensibility from joining. 

It helps to already be kind of a weirdo to enjoy it here.

Fandom culture is pervasive on Tumblr, and promoted even by Staff. While not everyone is a fandom blogger, it is likely that most are to some extent. Some people choose to have separate blogs, or Sideblogs, for some or all of their specific interests and fandoms in order to keep content consistent. Other people prefer to dump all of their posts onto their Main and let god sort it out! This is entirely up to you.

Tags are not only used to find content, but also to filter it! You may easily block tags you do not want to see by going to your Settings. This will block anything your followed blogs tag with these tags, as well as any posts tagged by the OP as such even if the reblogger did not use them. As such it is advised that you do NOT censor any tags so that people’s block lists will catch them. If you wish to provide content warnings, please tag with “#[warning] cw” or “#[warning] tw”. Tagging with cw or tw first may mess with some people’s block lists, and tagging with the warning ONLY but without cw or tw may put the post in discussion tags for those triggers. 

Speaking of censorship, since, again, there is no algorithm, there is no need to censor curses, reclaimed slurs, words like “kill” or “death”, etc. Doing so will generally get you made fun of. The only time you may need to censor words in your post is if you are making a post critical of a subject or fandom and you don’t want to risk it coming up in their search results. In that case it’s considered polite to censor the name of the fandom, character, or other subject (or, in the case of H*rry P*tter, just a good way to avoid TERFs). 

In recent times, the infamous porn ban has been lightened somewhat. Artistic and educational nudity and sexuality, and really anything short of full-on pornography, is now generally allowed under the Mature Audiences community label. If your post needs a Mature label, click on the button that says “For Everyone” and change it to “Mature”.

On most social media websites there is an unspoken time limit to interact with a post before it becomes weird to do so. This is not the case on Tumblr. We still have posts circulating from 2011 and no one cares.

Tumblr Memes

Tumblr is rife with memes and shitposts (short, weird text posts). The landscape of Tumblr memes is always changing, but to get you up and running, here’s a few common ones to get you started (in no particular order).

DESTIEL CONFESSION: ever since the 2020 Elections, when Supernatural ship Destiel went canon in the weirdest possible way at the same time Trump was being defeated, a screencap of Castiel confessing his feelings to Dean has been the most common way for Tumblr users to share breaking news.

CRAB RAVE: similar to Destiel Confession, gifs from the music video for Crab Rave are often used to celebrate breaking news stories. This is most commonly the spiteful celebration of the death or downfall of terrible people.

THE TUMBLR CALENDAR: Tumblr users love any excuse to celebrate something and have a great number of weekly and annual observances. Weekly observances include Tuesday No Problem, Out of Touch Thursday, Flat Fuck Friday, and others. Annual observances include the Ides of March, Halloween (celebrated throughout October and also whenever you feel like it), November 5th (the anniversary of the 2020 Elections & Destiel Confession), and others.

DRACULA DAILY: A service that has chapters of “Dracula” by Bram Stoker sent directly to your email inbox, on the date the events happened in the story. Starts every year on May 3rd, currently in its second year running. Frequently memed on. Users will often reference emails from Our Good Friend Jonathan. There are other literary substacks but this one is by far the most popular.

DO YOU LOVE THE COLOR OF THE SKY?: A notorious, extremely long post mostly consisting of a color gradient. No one likes this post. Sometimes people will reblog it just to troll others. Other times people will reblog fakeout posts that seem like they’re going to be Do You Love The Color of the Sky, but turn out to be something else.

COLOR THEORY: An oft-referenced post in which a Tumblr user aggressively defended a hospital’s use of a streak of red painted on their floor, with seemingly no self awareness that the streak looked like a long trail of blood. Now pictures of apparent or obvious blood stains may contain jokes about color theory to explain why they’re perfectly innocent, actually.

GONCHAROV: A months long ruse conducted by many Tumblr users to make a completely fake Scorsese film seem like it was real. While anyone with any decency will admit to the farce when asked directly, most people still jokingly talk about Goncharov like it’s a real thing. Sometimes a new fake media will come along and be referred to as “the new Goncharov.”

HORSE PLINKO: A gif of a horse falling down a plinko machine, usually into a fire. That’s it.

THE TUMBLR CODE: A very old post from the early 2010s proposed a code for Tumblr users to identify each other in public. The call and response is “I like your shoelaces.” “Thanks, I stole them from the president.” Originally posted as silly but completely sincere, it is now embraced begrudgingly and ironically. Tumblr sells officially branded shoelaces as a reference to this post. It is considered embarrassing to buy them.

JOHN GREEN COCK MONOLOGUE: Once upon a time, it was possible for Tumblr users to edit the content of a post when reblogging it. In retrospect, this was always a terrible idea. It was made clear how terrible an idea this was when a post by author John Green was famously edited to be a long rant about how “Cock is my favorite taste”. This spread like wildfire, and was used as part of a larger harassment campaign that drove Green off the site completely. While still frequently joked about, the John Green Cock Monologue is more controversial than it once was, with many now citing it in retrospect as sexual harassment. In the wake of the Cock Monologue, Tumblr finally made reblogs uneditable. 

THEN PERISH: A menacing close-up screenshot of Obama’s squinting eyes. Originating from an absurd roleplay thread in which President Obama allowed a small monkey-like creature to drown, including an exchange frequently paraphrased as “I’ll do anything you want” “Then perish”. Frequently the image of Obama’s eyes alone are posted and understood to mean this phrase.

CONNECTICUT CLARK: Originating from Twitter and Reddit and spreading to Tumblr from there, Connecticut Clark was a character from the webcomics by Flork of Cows, originating an OC with absolutely no interesting powers, backstory, or particularly good looks. In fact he looks like a weird little lump. Tumblr users love Connecticut Clark and his romance with the demon witch Malfina. 

GIFS: Gifsets are a popular aspect of Tumblr fandom culture. Reaction gifs, however, are no longer preferred and often considered obnoxious, thanks to their overuse in the early days of Tumblr. Sometimes long chains of gifs are used as Rent Lowering Gunshots (see Tumblr Culture). 

THREE WEED SMOKING GIRLFRIENDS: A post by now defunct Tumblr user thejorie vehemently insisting that he had three girlfriends who smoked weed, and getting into aggressive arguments with most of the people who responded to the thread in any way.

BONEGHAZI: An infamous drama in which a Tumblr user openly admitted to stealing human bones from a nearby cemetery to use in witchcraft and/or sell to others. If you ever hear anyone talking about The Tumblr Bone-Stealing Witch, just know that that’s a real thing that really happened.

MIKU BINDER THOMAS JEFFERSON: Of all of the bizarre things to come out of the Hamilton fandom (besides the Cannibal Mermaid Fanfic and the person who faked AIDS for clout, two controversies I am NOT going to get into here and that you can look up on your own), one famous fanart depicted Hamilton’s version of Thomas Jefferson as a trans man wearing a binder emblazoned with virtual musician Hatsune Miku. Widely mocked.

Famous (and Infamous) Tumblr Users

biggest-gaudiest-patronuses: AKA Gaud. Controversial but very pervasive shitposter. I tend to avoid them, lots of people consider them annoying, but I don’t think they did anything specific? Someone correct me if I’m wrong. In spite of the name I don’t think they’re a H*rry P*tter blogger.

bunjywunjy: Animal blogger known for their #Cursed Biology animal facts series. Very informative!

chongoblog: Mashup musician and streamer. Also memes a lot. His longest work to date is Mad Rat Monday, a mashup album based around the soundtrack to Mad Rat Dead.

communismkills: Thankfully no longer active, famous for harassing and doxxing trans people, as well as a frequently mocked post where they tried to get people to pay them $8000 to stop posting.

cryptotheism: Occultist and author, one of the most famous of the oft-referenced Tumblr Wizards. Posts frequently about occult history and practice.

dingdongyouarewrong: Youtube video essayist Sarah Z. Shitposts more than she posts about her YouTube channel. Has a vocal group of detractors but I’ve never figured out why. Tbf I am a fan of her channel.

doubleca5t: Well-liked trans woman shitposter and former YouTuber, though she quit her YouTube channel to focus on her career.

evilwizard: Another popular Tumblr Wizard. Unlike cryptotheism, whose “wizardry” is rooted in a sincere interest in alchemy and occultism, evilwizard’s wizardry is a schtick. Funny, though.

gallusrostromegalus: Artist and author known for their extremely long but very funny story posts.

iguanamouth: Artist and meme blogger. Many of their artworks have become memes in their own right. 

neil-gaiman: Yes, that Neil Gaiman. The popular fantasy author is also a popular Tumblr blogger and one of the few celebrities Tumblr users will tolerate (although some resent even him).

nyancrimew: AKA maia arson crimew. The internationally wanted hacktivist who released the no-fly list is also a beloved fixture on Tumblr. 

pangur-and-grim: AKA Greer Stothers. Illustrator, author, and pet blogger. Their oriental longhair cat Pangur is particularly beloved.

pizza: A once well liked blogger who fell into infamy for being a huge racist, and was ultimately banned, not for the racism, but for promoting diet pills on their blog.

prokopetz: Tabletop game designer and prolific blogger. Has a pinned post with all his game designs, if you are interested.

punkitt-is-here: One of the most well known My Little Pony bloggers on the site today. Known for their silly comics, liked even by people who do not watch MLP.

reallyndacarter: Actress Lynda Carter is fairly new to Tumblr, a recent Twitter refugee, but Tumblr has embraced her for her earnestness and willingness to play along with the website’s weirdness.

sixpenceee: Bafflingly still active despite the well-known controversy where they straight up admitted their family owns a child slave. Not recommended.

straycatj: Well liked Japanese cat blog, written (usually) from the perspective of the cats. Extremely cute and wholesome.

were–ralph: Beloved furry and werewolf fucker. Blog tends to trend very NSFW so follow at your own risk. Also he keeps getting banned and has to keep remaking, either because of the spicy content or because Staff is racist.

we made it (2021 version)

So this is longer than I intended and if you read the first sentence and ask yourself what the fuck is this, you can skip to the important part aka the end. TLDR: Thank you from the bottom of my heart for an incredible year in this fandom, 2021 would have sucked (even more) without you, Louis & Louies i love you so much ❤️

So I'm at the point in my NYE "celebrations" where I decided to listen to Fireproof in honor of that time in March-April 2021 when I would listen to that song obsessively because it just conveyed my mental state (there's something about blasting "I think I'm gonna lose my mind" at the beginning of the work day from your dining-room-turned-home-office). There were many songs that I would go and listen on repeat later on in a probably unhealthy manner, like Louis' cover of 7 for the whole month of September (somehow "I need another year lone" felt right to me 2 years into a pandemic), Zayn's entire and thankfully very long discography this summer, Sam Fender's Last to Make it Home this fall and more recently Arctic Monkey's One for the Road. My weird consumption of music apart, what these things have in common is that I associate them strongly with different periods of this year and they are all songs that I've discovered thanks to this fandom. Anyways, when there isn't much going on, at least we have music and nature.

It really isn't an understatement to say that this year has been completely changed for me when I discovered Louis' music and joined tumblr and this amazing amazing fandom. So many of my memories this year are linked to being here, with the things Louis did or the stuff that happened on louie tumblr, and the endless fun I've had with people I met here.

I'm not joking, if someone asked me the highlight of 2021, I would reply AFHF. I have such vivid memories of watching the festival on blurry streams on August 30, and all the emotions I felt in my living room, and doing the same a week later with an amazing documentary and an HD version of the concert. It was peak Serotonin Boost™️ for my pandemic brain. Thank you Louis!!! Thank you for being such an incredible person and artist, you make it so easy to be your fan! Now release new music. I will also remember 2021 for the fun Euro content it provided (and my first interaction with @shutterbug2012), how I was secretly hoping England wouldn't get eliminated, watching the finale in a bar during my vacations and being so torn about cheering for Italy.

I will remember the excitement every 28th of the month, the merch drops, the monthly check-in tweets, the awesome fandom projects we've had for Hallouween and to celebrate Louis' 30th birthday (s/o to @louisprojects), the tag games (s/o to @seasurfacefullofclouds1 and @venusrobots), the random horny asks (s/o to @silverfoxlou #flatfingers and to @crankydee's cursed images), the zouis breakdowns (no thanks for @louis-in-red @itsallaboutzayn and @icarusfallsforwalls), the louie love letters, the daily what's-Val's-breakdown-of-the-day (@bluelightsaber never stop ilysm) and the awesome GIFs and edits that never fail to amaze me (s/o to @longhairedlouist91 and @quetzal-28 moodboards, @fruitylouis mindblowing gifs and @stormyhale manifesting edits). Literally godly, this should be your regular outfit -

Rantaro Amami - I shouldn’t have to be the first person to point out to you that he’s hot. Not to mention that the pink bottoms work wonders with his hair.

Nagito Komaeda - Hhhhhhhh

Byakuya Togami - I will admit, I’m basing this position more off of his appearance in the promo art. I don’t know how much I like this look on his regular sprite, but he’s so hot in that promo art, you don’t even know.

Sayaka Maizono - SHE LOOKS SO CUTE OML. I’d go through each detail, but in short: everything.

Gundham Tanaka - Shirtless Gundham, what more can I say?

Ibuki Mioda - I absolutely adore how her swimsuit doesn’t just go with her hair, but matches it. Perfection.

Korekiyo Shinguji - When the trailer first dropped and I saw the screen with all of the released swimsuits, I immediately started scanning to see if they put Korekiyo in a wetsuit and by God, they did.

Shuichi Saihara - He looks more tired than usual, but I just have a gut feeling his other sprites will look better.

Mondo Owada - I probably should’ve put him in standard, but he looks so good without a shirt on, I couldn’t possibly.

Kaito Momota - Space shorts.

Sakura Ogami - She was actually going to be somewhere in the first tier originally, but I just can’t put her there because of the color. I probably should’ve put her down with the other people with this problem (Uhhh... okay... I guess) but I couldn’t bear to.

Cute!/Cool! -

Chihiro Fujisaki - a;lskdfh;adskfijshdkjc He’s so cute, someone help. I’m drowning in cute. He looks so excited to be wearing it, too. I think this was the best choice they could’ve gone with to not give him something too masculine or feminine, fantastic choice.

Leon Kuwata - This category was originally just going to be “Cute!” but his bottoms looked so cool, I had to put him up here.

Toko Fukawa - Not only does her swimsuit look good on her, but I love the way that they designed her and Genocide Jack to be wearing the same swimsuit in different styles. Super cool.

Tenko Chabashira - I think this was one of the only palette swaps that I actually liked. There are probably a few other swaps that I didn’t even notice, but I like this one specifically because of the color swap. She looks great in pink.

Kyoko Kirigiri - I think I would’ve normally put her in standard, but her gloves are just too cool.

Mukuro Ikusaba - Love the colors and love the pattern. Simple, yet great.

Mahiru Koizumi - Mahiru, your camera. You can’t take that in the water. Mahiru- MAHIRU

Akane Owari - This is actually the swimsuit she wore during chapter 2 in the original game and I thought she looked great both times.

Chiaki Nanami - Same as Akane, so there’s not really any reason for either one to be higher or lower than the other. Peko would be up here too, but it’s really basic.

Gonta Gokuhara - I just really like the pattern and also that he’s still carrying the thing over his shoulder. It’s really weird who got to keep accessories and who didn’t, but we’ll get there.

Masaru Daimon - He just looks so cool in his shorts, I’m sure he’s excited to have them.

Shirokuma - Despite how I may feel about Shirokuma, this is a very cute outfit for them.

Standard -

Kaede Akamatsu - Definitely the best-looking of the protagonists, even if Shuichi’s higher. He’s only higher because I have faith that his faults are because of the sprite choice. If I’m wrong, sue me.

Kirumi Tojo - This is another instance of getting to keep the accessories. She still has her headband on. Why?? It wasn’t crucial to her character or anything. I get that Kyoko has backstory reasons and Gonta and Mahiru’s personalities revolve around their items, but why Kirumi? She had other things that defined her better.

Peko Pekoyama - Like I said before, basic and kinda bland. She still looks good, though.

Fuyuhiko Kuzuryuu - He actually gained an accessory. Why does he have a necklace now? His shorts are nice, though.

Hajime Hinata - O r a n g. Or maybe red.

Maki Harukawa - Basic swimsuit, no color change whatsoever. A nice swimsuit, but nothing special.

Genocide Jack - Everything I said before about Toko’s swimsuit still applies, Genocide Jack’s is just way more boring.

Aoi Asahina - A good color swap, but not good enough to make up for her basic swimsuit.

Monomi - I like that they put her in a one-piece. Very cute. Wish they would do that all the time...

Monaca Towa - I just noticed that she is the only character other than Monomi to wear a one-piece. Why??

Makoto Naegi - The most basic swimsuit imaginable combined with his regular color scheme and pattern.

Hiroko Hagakure - I think I like that she kept her jacket? Maybe? It’s a different jacket, but it still counts.

Nagisa Shingetsu - Black and white bottoms. Okay. You do you, buddy.

Imposter - It’s fine. It’s just fine.

Izuru - I like that they gave him a separate swimsuit from Hajime, but why is it so bland and boring?

I love you, so I’ll forgive it -

Sonia Nevermind - She actually looks great and is so cute. So cute that she’d be in the top tier if not for one crucial fact. If you’ll notice, I mentioned earlier that Peko, Chiaki, and Akane are all wearing the same swimsuit here that they had worn in the original second game. However, there’s another character that appears in the scene I’m talking about that is wearing a different outfit than they are here. That charcter is Sonia, who was seen in a wetsuit in the original game. It was thrown off as a joke, but I still can’t stop thinking about how pretty she looked in that wetsuit. It’s literally my profile picture for my main blog, that’s how pretty she is wearing it. I’m mad because they’re basically agreeing that she didn’t look pretty/sexy in the wetsuit when that couldn’t be more wrong.

Celestia Ludenberg - I literally just wish she was wearing a one-piece, it can be the same style and everything. Honestly a missed opportunity.

Kotoko Utsugi - It’s just a weird pattern. Love the colors, though.

K1-B0 - I’d be lying if I said I didn’t love the floaty, but he still deserves more respect.

Miu Iruma - The pattern is... fitting... but still bad.

Kiyotaka Ishimaru - Taka... sweetie... why...?

Uhhh... okay... I guess -

Angie Yonaga - I like the look, but it’s exactly what she usually wears just without the jacket. Does that mean that she’s always wearing a swimsuit? Why? Even Asahina didn’t wear a swimsuit as her regular outfit.

Kazuichi Soda - I definitely like this color better than the piss yellow he used to have, but it’s still not great. I like that he got to keep his little logo thing, but I’m confused as to why he gets to keep his hat. It’s just like Kirumi keeping her headpiece. I’m fine with it in this case, but why him and not...? Well, we’ll get there.

Komaru Naegi - A lot of the outfits in this tier are just because I like the look and not the color scheme, including Komaru. Yellow’s just an odd fit for the shade of green that her hair is.

Tsumugi Shirogane - The same as Komaru. Nice style, but the yellow and blue clash for me.

Hiyoko Saionji - Surprise surprise, it’s the same thing. I think the style really fits her, but I hate the yellow and green. Not into it.

Junko Enoshima - Ok, we’re out of the color scheme repetition. I don’t know why she’s wearing a tanktop. It just looks a little off, but I can’t place why. I don’t know why she isn’t just wearing the regular swimsuit like she was in the promo art. If she was, I’d probably put her in Standard.

Yasuhiro Hagakure - I’ll be honest, I didn’t notice the alien pattern on his shorts until after I had already downloaded the picture and closed out of the tier list tab. If I had noticed before, I’d probably put him in Cute!/Cool! but I still don’t really like the color scheme. Fitting, but not pleasing.

Kurokuma - The only reason he’s above Kokichi is because he has a water gun and I think that’s cute.

Kokichi Oma - Literally just gut instinct. I like that he kept his checkered pattern and purple color scheme. Something just told me he should be down here.

Himiko Yumeno - I can’t imagine a world in which she would choose this swimsuit for herself. The color is off, the style is off, I could much more easily see her wearing something similar to Monaca’s swimsuit. Basically, just let some of the girls wear one-pieces. They don’t all have to be in bikinis.

Jataro Kemuri - The pattern. I can’t even stand to look at it long enough to figure out what it is.

Hifumi Yamada - It did take me a second to figure out what his swimsuit was, but as soon as I did, he hit the bottom of the list. Again, it’s definitely fitting, but I still hate it.

it’s a super easy thing to do: you just need to look for “edit html” and it’ll take you to where there’s a lot of codes displayed.

and don’t worry - you don’t have to write anything on the codes because you can just copy paste ! there’s a lot of tumblr accounts here who makes free customized themes just for you. if a certain customized theme catches your eye, you can just go download it (aka lead you to a website where you can copy all of the codes) and paste it. be sure to remove all the original codes b4 you paste it tho !

once you pasted all the codes, just save it and voila, you have your new and customizable layout !! dw, you can edit the colors, fonts, size of posts, etc. (and even play music) :DDD

So I we started to watch Attack on Titan again after many years and I’ve just finished season two and before starting season three I wanted to take a trip down memory lane and look at all my old favourite AOT fan fictions from 2014 (and see what’s popular nowadays that I may have missed, since wow, a lot has changed since I was last present in this fandom and compared to what’s happening in the current episodes season one was tame).

I’ve noticed a huge divide between fanon and canon and I kinda wanted to ruminate on this a bit.

Eren’s character in the show isn’t my favourite. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still fond of this brash idiot, but he’ll never be my favourite. He falls into this shonen protagonist trope of being hot headed and ill tempered. He doesn’t take advice, he’s not going to listen to plans or authority, he always thinks he’s right and only follows his moral compass, and to tie it all up he’s not even that strong. He can’t back up the threats that he’s laying down and yet he always rushes into situations with fists flying and never thanks or appreciates the characters (Mikasa) that get him out of those tricky situations. The only way to get through to him is to physically beat him down and even then it may not work if he hadn’t already somewhat respected you (Mikasa again). This character type is seen so often in shonen and I’m really not a fan, I like the cool and calculating protagonist better. Someone who has the power behind their threats and doesn’t rush into situations. Again, I like Eren, but I think it’s the other characters in the show that balance him out and the plot itself that makes me like Attack on Titan.

Compare this to fanon where his default character is happy ray of sunshine who’s a little bit naive. It’s a rather jarring comparison but I also don’t necessarily dislike it either. To me canon and fanon characteristics are almost completely seperate. If I had to always think a d compare fan fiction to canon I probably couldn’t read it. I read about happy fanon Eren and see canon angry Eren and to me they are two completely different characters - two completely different people even. If I had to read fan fiction about canon Eren I can 1000000% say that I just wouldn’t. I couldn’t. I’d be totally bored. As I said before, I like Eren but it’s the people around him and the plot itself that makes him bearable. I can watch a show about him because it takes less time and emotional energy, but I couldn’t invest in reading a book about him (which is why I haven’t read the manga either).

This isn’t even exclusively towards Attack on Titan. Back in my Teen Wolf phase I noticed how different canon and fanon characters were. Small secret - I was knee deep in the Teen Wolf fandom before I realised that I hadn’t actually watched an episode of Teen Wolf. One of my mutual’s reblogged TW artwork that was linked to a story and from that I never looked back. When I actually did get around to watching TW I can honestly say I was more than a wee bit disillusioned. Derek and Stiles are obviously not the main characters and I was prepared for that, but then they barely interacted, and when they did interact it was nothing like what I had read about - nothing like what their fanon characters or interactions were like. I can honestly say that I never made it past the first season - the show just wasn’t for me - but I was still thoroughly invested in the fandom for another year or two.

Something about fanon Sterek dynamics just did it for me, their characters and relationship was just so on point for what I wanted, and this is kind of when I came to accept that canon and fanon can be so different that it almost feels as if it’s two pieces of completely different media. I mean, fanon has its own set of rules, it’s own character tropes and story arcs that even completely different authors with completely different stories somewhat instinctively know to follow. I think that’s amazing, but it’s also a double edged sword. See these first two examples were of shows that I A) never watched/finished before reading fan fiction, B) don’t necessarily love love the characters in canon. That means that fanon is more appealing because it takes something I don’t care too strongly for and changes it to something more appealing. But what about when fanon takes something I love and cherish and remoulds it?

I want to briefly take this time to talk about something I’ve dubbed “the twink affect”. When you take a character that’s originally strong willed, self sufficient, and somewhat masculine and you pair the, up with someone EVEN MORE strong willed, self sufficient, and masculine - the “Alpha male” of characters if you will. I find that fanon is incapable of seeing two strong men together in a relationship and will eventually slowly twinkify one of them. Make them smaller, softer, lonelier, less self sufficient and more reliant on others, they need to be taken care of, they’re now a ball of sunshine that’s radiant and joyful, they’re cotton candy that melts on your tongue. You put them next to the pairing you ship them with and instead of seeing two strong men you see a bear and a twink. That’s definitely what’s happened to the two characters/pairings mentioned before and I honestly didn’t mind because I wasn’t protective of the source material, but when it does happen to a character I love it’s the most frustrating thing in the world, and I can’t even complain because I’ve already reaped the benefits from other fandoms. (I am going to complain though, this is my blog and I can do what I want mum.)

I’m going to talk about Mo Dao Zu Shi. Beautiful story that I love in (almost) all its various adaptations, but I’ve noticed the ever slow changing of fanon’s Wei Wuxian. For anyone reading this that hasn’t read MDZS (or if anyone’s reading this at all, I am expecting to just be shouting into the void at this point) Wei Wuxian dies - not a spoiler, it happens at the very beginning of the story - and comes back to life in the body of Mo Xuanyu. Mo Xuanyu is small malnourished and twinky - he even canonically wears makeup (or at least has it in his possession, I’m getting the various adaptations confused and I can’t remember if in canon Wei Wuxian woke up in Mo Xuanyu’s body already wearing the makeup or if he just finds the tin of makeup in Mo Xuanyu’s possessions). Wei Wuxian’s character is also a bit of a tease, and now he’s alive and unburdened by the past he’s much freer now than he was in the past, couple that with the fact that he’s pretending to be Mo Xuanyu (a character who is rumoured to be gay and also a bit insane) he goes all out in pretending to be a shameless flirt, and it’s honestly hilarious, I love his character. So in a sense he has all the makings of a canon twink and I’m really not here to shame on those who portray him that way while he’s in Mo Xuanyu’s body.

My personal issue is with the same extreme twink portrayal while he’s in his original body. In his original body Wei Wuxian is BUFF. He’s hunky, he’s in the top five most eligible bachelors, he’s *car honks* woof woof bark bark *whistles* puurrrr, he’s one of the most powerful cultivators of his generation, he’s a genius too. He’s hunky. He still has the cheeky shameless character, but when you compare him to the male lead Lan Wangji, they’re about the same size and strength. My favourite type of fan fiction in MDZS is fix it/everybody lives nobody dies/no war/etc etc. Basically stories where Wei Wuxian keeps his original body. The fanon twink portrayal of him being so small and soft and weak while in canon he’s one of the strongest and smartest urks me in ways I can’t explain. It’s not what I want, not what I’m looking for. I love him for who he is in canon and to see his character so distorted by fans of the original work is frustrating. I just want to read about Wei Wuxian as a jock with his equally buff and tall nerd boyfriend.

I want to pause here and say that I have nothing against authors that write him in a twinky way, I respect your work and your characters (and as I said before I’ve reaped the benefits of other fandoms twinky character portrayals numerous times), if I read a fic that I’m not happy with the characterisation I just close the tab and move on so absolutely no hate to anyone who enjoys this character type. I’m just ruminating on the fact that I’ve been seeing it happen more and more often lately to the point where I’ve kind of bounced the fandom and am sticking to other works like Scum Villain that haven’t yet twinkified too much (there will always be one or two stories in every fandom that twinkify and honestly? I respect that. Authors said twink rights ONLY, good for them).

Mo Dao Zu Shi isn’t the only fandom I’ve been in that I’ve negatively reacted to fanon. Another one would be Batman (I love Tim with all my heart and I love him getting treated nicely but damn I sometimes wish people would remember how freaking strong and amazing he is too), 2Ha is another I’ve started to see “twinkified” (although I don’t mind seeing Chu Wanning being soft and taken care of, he is canonically called handsome and masculine and he’s quite tall too), I’ve even seen the canonically “top” character (and that seems so weird to write oml) be twinkified by fandom because they want to see him get bottomed for ~equal rights~ because apparently bottoming is seen as a “woman’s position” to them and they’re trying to be woke by switching the sexual positions up but failing to see how misogynistic and homophobic that take is (imma stop myself here because that a WHOLE ‘nother can or worms to be opened right there).

What I’m trying to say is fanon is a double edged sword and I’ve definitely enjoyed some and hated some. I think it’s important to seperate the two. I do think it’s annoying for fandoms to be flooded with mischaracterisation when you actually do like the original characters and I wish there was some way to seperate fandom into “actual canon fans” and “fans of fanon”, but I don’t have a solution and I’ve definitely contributed to the problem in the past so for that I’m sorry.

I don’t know how to end this long ass rant, I don’t know what the goal was in writing this, but taadaa ~ here’s my exceptionally long take on fanon.

“…Tony?” he tried again. But dammit now Tony was using his tongue to tease Peter’s bottom lip and making his head swim.

In the end it was only because he was significantly stronger than Tony (and also currently panicking!) that he pulled far enough away to talk at all.

“What’s the matter, baby? Too much? Do you want me to slow down?” Though he wondered how simply kissing the boy could overwhelm his senses enough to push him away. Perhaps he misread the entire situation. “What do you want me to do, Pete? Are you okay?”

Peter opened his mouth but found nothing coming out. But this was not good, now Tony was looking doubtful, and the last thing Peter wanted was the man he had been crushing on for so many years looking doubtful. He solved the problem quickly. Unfortunately his solution was kissing Tony again.

“If it’s what you want. I want you to be comfortable. But Pete, you’re beautiful. I would miss seeing those gorgeous eyes of yours. Watching the adorable way you blush and how I’ve wondered all this time, seeing it at your collar, how far down it goes.” Tony reached for the top buttons on Peter's shirt, the lights still on, hoping the kid would forget his request by being distracted with Tony’s fingers on his collarbone, his lips brushing the sharp angle of his jaw.

His fingers slid down the front of Peter’s shirt, slowly, feeling the buttons he was going to loosen. “I want to see you. Want to know what you’ve been hiding all this time. You’re stunning. I can’t help noticing. Noticed that all along. More now that you’ve grown into your body. Baby, I can’t keep my eyes off of you.” Buttons worked their way undone. One from the top, one from the bottom, back to the top, alternating until the boy’s chest was almost entirely revealed, hidden only by one last button, valiantly holding on.

Tony kissed the divot between Peter’s collarbone. Kissed up to his Adam’s apple, bobbing as Peter swallowed nervously. “You taste like a little slice of heaven,” Tony crooned, his lips moving over the boy’s vein, feeling his pulse against them. The last button surrendered and he pushed Peter’s shirt open, sliding it over his shoulders. Sliding down Peter’s back, circling around his waist to rest just below the boy’s navel, Tony’s rough hand caressed smooth skin.

The way Peter was laying, he needed to raise his hips just slightly. With a bit of a tug, Tony tried to show what he needed Peter to do. The boy seemed reluctant, so Tony moved him just enough to slide his pants over the angle of his hip and move them down to his knees. He sat up just a little so he could work the tight jeans down over his calves, down to his ankles, and off of his feet.

He leaned back and looked at his beautiful boy. Pale skin stretched out before him. Those long, graceful legs that danced him in the air as he swung on a strand of web. His arm circled comfortingly around Peter’s back. “You are perfect as you are. I love you as you are. You’re not fifteen, baby, and you don’t look like a fifteen year old boy. You look like a very handsome young man.”

Peter leaned into Tony’s embrace and took in his scent, letting it comfort him, calm him. He took a deep breath before speaking again.

“Okay. But then there’s this.”

He lay his head on Tony’s shoulder and thumbed the boxers down all the way. He kept his eyes closed, trusting his mentor to, at the very least, say something gentle.

Tony’s hand continued its downward caress, following Peter’s lowering of his boxers, feeling the perfectly smooth skin of his lower belly, where most young men of his age would have a defined treasure line.
