Been stuck in bed with a cold 🤧But I'm excited that Vintage Book Week is finally here! Here's my version of The Shy Little Kitten cover. Its awesome to see all the beautiful posts pop up all day. Makes me so excited to see what everyone does with the other prompts this week. Keep them coming guys, they're all so great!

The Little Shy Kitten was illustrated by Gustaf Tenggren, who was chief illustrator for Disney in the late 1930s. His work is well-worth checking out!

Hi, everyone, I'm M.Y. Hauger. I am an author/writer. I'm also a solo game developer who creates games, many of which are based on the stories that I write. Writing is something that I've always been passionate about, and it's one of my favorite things. I also enjoy creating games. It was something that I wanted to do since the beginning of my second book series that I wrote. Stranded is the first game that I created and is based on the first story of my second book series, Union Of Sorrows.

My hope is to connect with other creatives, whether they would be new friends or fellow creatives who I already know from other platforms. I would also like to support creatives with #writerslifts if it is permitted on this platform. I will #followback anyone who follows me.

Question of the week

Do you prefer to watch/read the background to a story or the original story first?

Do you like to hear everything from the beginning in the correct chronological order or do you want to have the suspense and mystery of the classic order: first original and then get everything explained in the background story?

I personally am an absolute prequel person. I love to see the characters and their worlds in their full bloom and get to know them from the very beginning and see how beautiful everything once was, just to mourn with them for that lost beauty then.

Both have their pros and cons if you hear everything from the beginning, part of the puzzle and the suspense is gone but you see the (as I think) best part first and in the end I can personally empathize even better with the characters and their fates. But if you see the original story first, the tension is there, but some things can be confusing depending on how big and complex the World is.

How do you guys see that?

We've reached the end of Vintage Book Week 2023 on Instagram, with Prompt 4 "Hansel e Gretel". Here's my final entry. I decided to keep close to the original book cover illustration for this final one. I've actually illustrated a fun version of H&G, "It's Not Hansel and Gretel" by Josh Funk, so be sure to check that out on Amazon or at your local bookstores (Plug opportunity lol).
