You're right, individual traits don't make someone autistic. It's the combination of several traits that make them autistic.

Saying something is an autistic trait is not saying it can't exist outside of autism, but rather that it is a common trait among those with autism.

It's the same with all neurodivergency. It's not the individual traits that make someone have bipolar disorder or DID or Depression. It's the combination of them.

And if we start looking at it this way, we can all have a better understanding of how these things operate in relation to each other

Random HLVRAI headcanon that I have in my brain (ft. my autism, but very reserved)

So HLVRAI takes place in 2020, so like. it’s very reasonable for the characters to have grown up with consoles and pc games so THIS MAKES SENSE TO ME !

Benrey grew up with playstation, Gordon with xbox, and they both definitely argue over which one is better

Forzen also grew up with playstation but he just went over to Benrey’s house and didn’t have a playstation at his own house .

Tommy and Coomer grew up with Nintendo I’m sure, but Tommy also used the Sega consoles because . why not . I love the Sega consoles, I think his favourite is the Dreamcast 

Bubby was made in Black Mesa, but I think he still kinda “grew up” with PC games . Like the shitty ones that came with Windows XP (they’re not shitty idk why I said that . I love you Pinball)

Darnold also grew up with PC games ! But he had actual games rather than the ones built in to the OS. He probably collects old point and click games

He is absolutely a must wear socks sensory issues man (case in point, Danny Pudi and his socks)

Tongue clicking and cool cool cool are his favorite vocal stims

He absolutely must have lip balm on his lips (this one's cannon actually)

He specifically must get shirts that are cotton and with limited screen print (just like me fr)

He hates gum with a burning passion (cannon as fuck)

He likes hugs but hates random touch

He doesn't stim much in public but when he's alone or with people he trusts it's stim central (true 🥲)

He's really into puzzles and lining items up and frequently organizes Annie's plushies

He taught Annie finger spell and some ASL for when he goes nonverbal
