I don't just hate the puzzle piece symbol for autism these days. I actually see red with rage every time it pops up anywhere within my sight.
How dare you imply I've lost a piece of myself because I'm autistic. How dare you call me a puzzle to begin with because why the fuck am I a puzzle.
I don't need a cure. I don't need to be fixed. Nothing is lacking from me. I'm not missing anything. I don't need a filling from your eugenics bullshit.
There isn't a hole in me because I'm not allistic. I'm complete. I'm whole. My autism is a part of me. It's who I am as a person. I'm beautiful just the way I am.

People judge picky eaters a lot but, as a very picky eater, I’m endlessly frustrated by my limitations. When I vent about this, a lot of people respond with things as “just eat it, it might not be so bad” but I mean it when I say a lot of suggestions I have already tried.
I watch a lot of food videos and they all look so good, a lot of food smells amazing, but then I try it and the texture is a sensory nightmare and there’s too much flavour. I love being autistic but, if I was to change one thing, it would be that.

As someone who is autistic, watching this scene where he sees the very things that make him who he is as a detriment/threat to others was absolutely heart-wrenching.
I've had moments like this where I've questioned if the qualities that make up my identity are helpful to others including myself, which made it that much more inspiring when he found it in himself to overcome those doubts and embrace who he is.
Man, I love this show so much.

Julia from Sesame Street. A sweet girl with a strong memory who loves drawing & engaging in parallel play. Makes little to no eye contact & flaps her arms as a form of stimming. Engages in echolalia. Uses noise-cancelling headphones due to sound sensitivity. Needs questions to be repeated or rephrased so she understands. Struggles with doing multiple things at once. Introduced with the line "She does things just a little differently, in a Julia sort of way." A wonderful mascot for autism education, awareness, & acceptance.
