Please stop infantlizing autistic people
Stop being weirded out when we cuss. Stop being weirded out when we talk about nsfw topics. Stop being weirded out when we are semiverbal or nonverbal.
We can smoke too, we can drink, vape, and cuss and do anything normal people can do. We can have (concented) sexual relationships. We can kiss people. We can have kinks. We can like BDSM or have fetishes. We are not innocent little kids.
Just because we have a disability doesn't mean we aren't people.
Just because we sometimes need to live with someone else doesn't mean we aren't people.
Just because we don't pick up on social clues doesn't mean we aren't people.
STOP INFANTILIZING US. STOP CALLING US INNOCENT. STOP THINKING YOU NEED TO PROTECT US. WE ARE REGULAR PEOPLE TOO.

Autistic culture is randomly switching your conversation style mid sentence. Specifically going from the most eloquent person you’ve ever met to talking like the child of a hill billy and a british pop star.

is it an autism thing to be filled with an uncomfortable feeling and sometimes slight anger when things are not done/feel/look a certain way? like if my kitchen is not organized the way i want it i get so irritated?? if my sheets don’t feel right i want to scream and burst into tears??? idk if this is me being selfish or what????

no I fucking can't stand it when allistic people aren't listening bc when autistic people aren't listening they space out then realise you're waiting for a response and say "I'm sorry I only heard like 30% of that" and I'll be like "hey that's cool josh it's all in the email anyway dont worry about it."
when an allistic person isn't listening they will just interject with the exact opposite assumption of what you just fucking said in that condescending tone like you're the one who's not communicating right.
Me: I was online shopping an etsy business the other day and the website kept crashing --
Coworker: you were on our website the other day and it kept crashing??
FUCKING NO DARYL USE YOUR FUCKING EARS AND LISTEN TO PEOPLE FUCK GOD DAMN YOU.

When you have autism, people think you operating at 110% is actually around 70-80%. The extra work you put in to look put together, proactive, confident, normal, is all for nothing. They still ask for more, actually, they expect more.
I wonder how much better my school experience could have been if I didn't have to work so hard? When an unusual proficiency with science couldn't make up for proper studying and learning techniques, my teacher called me "stupid" and "lazy". When I couldn't ever nail down an encyclopedic memory of my times tables, I was embarrassed in front of my peers for not being "smart" enough to remember them.
Adulthood didn't get easier, I just got used to constantly being tired.
Projects at work turned in early, getting orders filled fast, all it does is place an expectation on you for more, more, more. What do I do when I don't even have the energy to do the things I want?
We're not made for it.

Things that I, as an autistic person, don't understand, in no particular order:
- eye contact. How? Just how? Also why?
- When. The hell. Does someone count as a friend? Like at what point do you cross from "someone I know" territory to "we are friends" territory? (I usually wait until the other people call me their friend first cause I don't wanna call them friends if they haven't yet and it's real awkward, especially when telling my Mum about people)
- why do allistic change a plan last-minute and are totally okay? Where's the anxiety? Where is the hectic scrambling for a calender or journal?
- speaking of journals - how do people, allistic or not, manage their lives without them? [this is sparked by my boss during my museum internship who was surprised and puzzled that I wrote my work schedules and duties for each day into my journal. Madam, you manage part of two museums, how do you not keep a journal?!?!]
- why did Moky give Boober a crown when he lost his hat? Why didn't she realize he didn't want a new hat? Season one Moky Fraggle was a time...
- why can't Philo and Gunge remember where they came from before they were with Marjorie? Were they born in the trash? I must know! The Doozers interacted with their species before, way in the past, but this species seems to be all gone now so what happened in the Fraggle Rock ecosystem for the species to disappear?!
- Where. Did. The. Pipebangers. Go??! We never saw them again after Let The Water Run, and I miss them.
- Why was Doc written as such a bad dog-owner? Whyyyyy? It's so infuriating at times even though I love Doc
- How are Jamdolin and Cantus related? I have a few theories but I must know. Side note, I am very glad they renamed the Minstrels to Troubadours in the reboot... definitely a good choice

I've always had this deep, deep seated feeling, that I was different. And not the 'Ohh I'm not like other girls' edgy different. I litteraly felt, and still do feel, like an alien walking around in a very well made human suit that fools everyone. Because I got good at making and blending in.

Am I the only audhd that hates listening to others infodump? I want to like it cause they get all happy and excited and I can tell they feel seen which is rare, but I just can't handle it. It feels like being stabbed in the brain over and over again. And it's so constrictive cause I can't go off on a tangent or change the topic and I have no choice but to just nod and say "mhmm" cause there's no way I can ask questions or make remarks when not a single word is being comprehend cause I'm so annoyed by the situation. I feel trapped in my head, like I need to scream, and there's nothing I can do about it. But if I don't listen I'm a bad person.

Audhd is so sexy because i can learn everything about the new york jazz scene of the 1940s AND make a map of my homebrew d&d world AND make 6 hours of my life dissappear in only 5 minutes AT THE SAME TIME

I really do need them to make Gregory’s autism canon in season 3. They’ve been dropping hints left and right since season 1 and after the ‘can’t make small talk’ plot line today it’s as crystal clear as it’s ever been.
I need it explicitly said because more often than not autism is either portrayed negatively or as an ‘abnormal super power’ in media, or characters are just autistic-coded and it’s never addressed at all.
I trust Quinta and the Abbott writers to do it justice, I just need them to do it.
