Need more love for Akira who is a huge dork loser freak typa guy I think. His autistic boy swag is so unparalleled and he’s so awkward and he gets so invested and excited about the most bizarre things ever like. Boy gets top of the class and he’s like Cool 👍 but he makes a plate of curry that doesn’t suck and his reaction is YES 💪 and then proceeds to shovel the whole thing into his mouth in like 9 seconds. He makes lockpicks at his desk in school and talks to his cat with other people around like it’s not the weirdest shit ever in the world, he’s read every single book he can get his hands on, he regularly goes to eat 15lb hamburgers like it’s a thing to do, he cranks the treadmill up to 100% and then falls the fuck off immediately, he bought his own pool cue and attempted trick shots with varying levels of success, he back flipped through a stained glass window like “see ya!” like. If that’s not a boy who’s performing based on tropes he’s seen before idk what is. He is just so strange and peculiar and he has no idea how to express himself he is just there like :3 and everyone loves him for it and they are RIGHT

Akechi wielding two personas both equally him as he puts up two fronts, joker putting up so many he can combine and kill/abandon any at a moments notice and no one would even recognise its absence.

I can just imagine the thieves questioning why joker is the only one in their group with multiple and seemingly with every palace the personas he uses changes.

I think they'd realise apon meeting akechi the why and how of it all but what do you say to a person who's entire existence is based on pleasing others.

"literally the first results on google is "sangwoo semantic error autistic." he loves routine + is extremely distressed by change in routine (contrasts w his ADHD-coded bf). very blunt/cannot read social clues which leads to some misunderstandings throughout the manhwa. he's very relatable to me as an autistic person but also as a queer man, and it's refreshing to see autistic characters being open with their sexuality/sexual life bc we're often displayed as asexual robots incapable of love (bad for lots of reasons haha). he's super cute generally and really grew on me throughout the series. definitely the best part of semantic error."

"Many other characters try to read into what he does and says, looking for deeper or different meanings but it's always revealed that he means exactly what he says every single time and the butt of the jokes is always the other characters for being dramatic and presumptuous, not Doug for being autistic. Also he's the mean autistic representation we deserve."

"I mean come on, it’s Purson. He thinks he’s really good at talking to people but most of his conversations (at least at the start) are completely one sided. He just blurts out whatever he’s thinking and completely dominates the conversation (if you can call it that). I love him so much for it, I have a really hard time figuring out when I should just stop talking and let someone else have a turn and only tend to realize after he fact that I didn’t really let anyone else get a word in and feel really bad. But the way Purson communicates is never shown to be a bad thing it’s a bit awkward at times but that just how he is and the rest of the misfit class live him for it. I think I could go on all day about how wonderfully inclusive Iruma-Kun is it’s such a good series, also in my brain Balam, Kalego, Clara and Opera are on the 4 outer points of an x-y graph that represents the autism spectrum. Everyone else fills the blanks in between. His bloodline magic is ‘detection warding’ and for the first several arcs of the manga the rest of the class didn’t even know he was there."

Makoto -

"In one sentence: Katai considers the titular Komi-san a communication master. Katai looks like a brutal thug, but he's actually extremely shy. Shy enough that after missing a couple weeks of class, it takes him months to build up the confidence to go to school. Katai tries to make friends once he does go to school, but he can't hold a conversation and doesn't realize that his mumbled half-sentences and resting bastard face make it look like he's threatening people. He's also pretty bad at reading the room, which is why he interprets Komi's behavior as a communication master trying to guide him from afar rather than a kindred spirit also struggling to hold a conversation."

Random post since I've been on a dragonball kick. But I always wished Akira toriyama, the creator of dragonball had made some kind of mecha or pure sci-fi series. Because the man may not be a good writer (his own words) but just look at how he designed machines.

The man was able to make functional and beautiful designs on a regular basis and they were RARELY the focus.

i like viewing the p5 protag as autistic (along with yusuke and futaba), but he specifically has difficulty speaking. he can speak, but he tends to do so in short bursts; thats not the extent of his speaking ability, just the articulated part. the dialogue options chosen ingame are spoken like a neurotypical, but its very short and precise, deliberate, and it takes a lot of his social spoons to do. when with people he's comfortable with (the thieves, chihaya, sojiro, shinya, kaoru, lavenza) his speech changes. its longer sentences than before, but his words are slurred together, he takes out grammatical points to put only the bare minimum, and its very quiet, almost mumbled.

maybe turns into mayb, goodnight becomes nigh, its good to see you becomes 'sgood tsee ye.

even the thieves names change when he says them.

'taba, ryuj, makot, 'usuke, har, ang, mogan, gor, sumre, 'nkich, and 'phia. shaya, s'jiro, shin'aa, kaor, venz.

everyone has a Joker certified slurred name. its a sign of affection! he's comfy with you!

Love the idea of Akira being a collector like. He gets bits and baubles from all the times he goes and hangs out with his friends, and he keeps them displayed on his shelf so proudly, you cannot convince me he wouldn’t also do that with other things too. I’m just thinking about him growing up in a small town with nothing to do and just going neck deep into hyperfixation stuff, collecting every piece of media or memorabilia he can get his little kid hands on, having it all meticulously organized so he knows exactly where everything is at all times, showing it off to literally anyone who will listen, etc. I also love the idea of Ryuji being his number 1 most enthusiastic listener, like he will sit there for actual hours while Akira infodumps about [insert preferred hyperfixation hc here] and will never get bored. He’s always asking questions and staying engaged bc he just loves listening to Akira speak, and he loves seeing him so happy and energetic and he wants to share in that with him ❤️ And it would make Akira so happy too bc he’s so not used to having someone to show off his stuff to, much less someone who actually wants to see and listen, so really they are just a match made in Heaven I think

Shutaba is actually the best ship imo because it gives off actual GOOD and QUALITY representation to a neurotypical person in a relationship with someone who's neurodivergent (specifically autistic) while respecting boundaries and understanding how the other person is different and helps them.

I haven't seen anything that depicts a relationship that sincere and serious like that until now, and headcanons about them being siblings is totally valid but the romantic side makes me feel seen. As an autistic person that has the same exact behaviors as Futaba while being in a relationship with a guy who acts a lot like Ren, it makes me feel.. Normal and accepted in the world.
