Lmao just had a shameless lurk through the Ambroy tag as I often do but this time the Aasmir tag and firstly writes down his birthday for reasons and lmao got to the first post and a saw he had a human half brother in his lore and I being a furry apparently and too in love with the foppish unicorn version am curious on if he shares that same sibling? Or would he not be able to handle the competition

Charles (or Charly, as Ambroys calls him) is his half-brother, technically, as Ambroys is quick to point out whenever their relation is mentioned. They share the same father, but have different mothers. Unlike Ambroys, he's a mortal. Also unlike Ambroys, he's a very sweet, humble, good-natured guy; the Gallant to Ambroys' Goofus.

Their relationship is, erm, fraught. As you might predict, any conflict they have can be laid squarely at the hooves of a certain unicorn. To say he "can't handle the competition" is an extremely prescient characterization of their familial situation.

while it is funny that the bailongma chose to be a horse in situations that could really have benefitted from having a dragon, i don't think he gets enough credit for how much shit they avoided just by having him instead of a normal horse. can you imagine trying to fight off demons meanwhile the whole time your horse has laminitis. oh no tang seng has been captured again but also our horse is colicing which means he's either having a little tummy ache or 5 minutes away from death. kept his head tied up too long while you were trying to keep your sifu from being steamed alive, now the horse has pneumonia. trying to keep a normal horse alive could have accounted for all 81 trials and tribulations tbh. when sun wukong said "a normal horse could never survive this journey" he was so real for that.

i think there's horse sexism in the kentucky derby . field of twenty horses, right? plus a couple more runners-up that can swap in if somebody has to drop out . not a single filly in the lineup. which obviously doesn't mean i think that like ... the HORSES are sexist . but i imagine that in a field where most of the top trainers are men themselves, there's more of a focus on training the colts that come across their paths, and perhaps even more colts being selected to be trained towards these big races in the first place . a horse is a horse is a horse, they all go fast, but there's probably an unconscious bias from breeders, trainers, owners, etc that prevents the field from being more diversified
