#CuttingRoomAntics, brought to you by #ThrowbackThursday. This photo was selected, by you, from my Instagram's #TopNine. The brackets were held and after a close, *close* victory, my photo of Black Panther, played here by candy_rockets_yogi at #AnimeWeekendAtlanta2018, is crowned my best of the year.

So, how do I improve on my best photo of the year? I revisit my inspiration in the first place--warmness.

My style, if I ever had one, has been constantly changing, as has my interpretation of what defines a photo as "warm." I pushed back on the exposure and started over by giving the colors of the photo their own stage in lighting that's not too harsh. There's a profile in place to help the aesthetic along. Also, I tightened the highlights to keep them from spilling all over the photo. I lifted the shadows slightly, which aids in giving the photo a brown tint. But, probably my favorite part of this process were the two radial masks I applied- to bring more exposure to the subject's face, and another give the subject somewhat of a glowing halo. The result is tied together by a vignette, something I'm beginning to favor in my work. Finally, I corrected a few erros I made to address rampant purple fringe.

Hopefully, the result is a photo that favors its subject by lending its background’s colors, rather than assaulting the viewer with its highlights and addiction to punch. Its the exercise that took the most thought and I'm proud of how it turned out.

So there it is. My best photo of the year. Kinda wanna republish my book now.
