If you do like Asa the musician, you will definitely prefer Bumzy music
Tumblr media
Well, I’m not going to talk about Asa, you already know her. Asa is just the only Nigeria voice from Paris, France. She is just la star. But one thing you might like to know about her is her commitment. In 2015 while Asa was challenged to re-record the “Bed of Stone”, she has to drive 18 hours from Nashville to New York in search for inspiration. And she found it. Though she sounds simple in her melodies, she invests a lot of energy to get that out. “Simplicity is not at the beginning; it’s the result of a long process of perfection.” On the 12th of July 2017, Bumzy, a single woman from Nigeria was awarded the best contemporary singer 2017 by Muson School. When I approached her and asked her impressions, she answered “I really appreciate it because I deserve it.” It is like that I get to know Bumzy. Bumzy’s videos are going viral through her social media pages. Some weeks ago, she shared 3 videos on which she covered 3 popular Asa’s songs: Ife, Moving on, Eyo, Bamidele. Hundreds of views were recorded in few days. Bumzy discovered herself into music through Asa’s noiseless breaking-through career. These whole things started years back in the Western of Africa in Nigeria when Bumzy was 11 years old. Nigeria is the largest country in West-Africa, the most populous in Africa and surpassing U.S of America as world’s 3rd most populous country by 2050 according to The World Population Prospects 2017. Bumzy’s full name is Olubunmi Adewumi Felicia from a Yoruba family. Olubunmi joined the choir at Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, her church, first time at 12 years old. She was already at high school. In her whole Senior Secondary School, she was the only one to attend to the music classes and sat for the WAEC music exam. When she was to study music in 2010 at the University of Lagos, her dad was strictly opposed. She took days to convince her dad to give a try to music art. The only time sir. Adewumi, her dad, could agree was when she told the Asa story of success. “Asa is my role model,” she said. Sir Adewumi fell in love with Asa music, her moral, and the image she reflects outside which is very important for Yoruba culture. In 2014, Bumzy got graduated with a bachelor degree in music art. In 2015, she got admitted to Muson School of Music for the diploma course. Then she started a professional music career as a vocalist musician. The only thing that differentiates Bumzy is the focus and her commitment. She rehearses almost every day. In February 2017, she became a piano instructor at Jasmine house school of music. She purposes to do like Asa, a different music. She decided to do music therapy. Bumzy is a successful upcoming voice from Nigeria who believes that success is about impacting life. A good music has an order of values for Bumzy: 1-     The lyrics: This is the core content of a song. A good music starts with a good content. 2-      The voice: I prefer a cool and calm voice within the range of the contralto. 3-      The melody: This is the catchy part of the music. It takes a good voice to bring out the sweetness of a melody. Melodies attract. 4-      The beat: it’s the aliveness of the music. It could be groovy, sad or lively. I prefer moderate speed (Andante) 5-      The arrangement: this is the sync, the harmony between voices and melody. It adds color to the melody. “If you are talented and you are hiding it in disguise of being shy or humble, then you are selfish.” She ends with. Bumzy has featured five songs so far. You should look forward to her first single.
