Fodlan is definitely going to be remembered more for its militant fandom be wrt a certain red emperor or the moralist antishippers coming off the heels of awakening and fates (that part is probably minimal compared though). It's a real shame too cause there's some enjoyment to be had from the game if you can separate it from the fandom wank. But considering subjective personal experiences (like being harassed/bullied over a fictional character) can affect people's views on a work/game, people are just going to remember the wank instead of the game.

Imo, the game at inception was a mess and the copious amounts of earl grey, coupled with the devs inability to commit was bound to attract people who would defend, each, a side.

Like Seteth's line roughly saying Supreme Leader is such a great Leader because people follow her, dude, in SS she ordered her allies to be put to the sword if ther disagreed with her plan to steal stones, she left Kostas to die, she ordered a hit on your daughter and, hm, Nemesis was followed by people, but "might makes right" isn't what I'd call good leadership.

It might sound too salty, but basically any enjoyment I derive from Fodlan nowadays is from the verse, but not from the games...

You know, as another user said, even 4chan is at least able to tell people why they were banned/ had their accounts deleted. No one can possibly appeal if you don’t tell them why. But maybe thats why you don’t list a reason.

Many trans women have been banned with no official answer given. Idk if I were running a website that the community hates the moderation and team for constantly banning and deleting the blogs of trans women I would , at minimum, be a little more transparent about why they were banned.

It’s very clear that trans woman are held to an impossible standard that the rest of the website isn’t. Trans woman are our fellow bloggers, friends, lovers and family. You’re actively alienating the few people who actually use this website anymore. This is a pattern of behavior and targeted attacks.

Trans women get banned for no reason but you can’t do anything about @nyancrimew getting rape threats? It is on its own there???????

There is a double standard where trans women are held to an impossible standard you’re able to shut their blogs down for no reason but apparently you’re powerless to do anything about actual hate crimes on this website.

Sometimes I still see extremely rabid anti 4chan sentiment on here being reblogged everywhere as if 4chan is any worse than Tumblr can be if you get on the wrong side of it. I literally got recommended a blog today completely focused on antisemitic conspiracy because they posted something tagged animal behavior which is a tag I follow. It's so easy to find the same content you hate here. If you're so gd focused on how everything on there is fucked up you need to go to 6chan or god forbid masterchan and see what actual depravity is.

I'm more or less focused on the "NSFW" threads, I mean the degeneracy is unlike any site on the surface web. I can't believe that there's people like that who live around me who laugh at suicides or murders or even worse which yes, somehow they download, watch and enjoy worse content then those two right there, and who knows if any of these could be average enough people. The blatant fact is that you have some mental disorder, most of which stem from psychopathy or truly evil and demented minds. The shit on one forum alone is enough to destroy any serotonin left in your brain as you slowly succumb to the everlasting effects of second hand trauma or just trauma from the video ofc. How did you become the moderator on 4chan Yaoi??? It seems like an interesting story

I was at one point a “big name” on 4chan and I was fairly active. I applied and got selected for the “janitor” program, which was a sort of semi-mod where you had some limited powers but only over a single board. (This was all around 2007, I think?)

You could do stuff like delete posts, but you couldn’t ban people (I think you just had a “report for banning” that’d go up the chain to moot or another mod). You also had a weird firefox extension that would let you know if there was reported Bad Shit on your particular board.

I specifically became a janitor for /r/, the requests board, but all janitors had two boards, so I picked /y/ (yaoi) as my second board.

Later on because of how I did as a janitor and the various coding projects I did for 4chan (/rs/ and /r9k/ and some misc other shit I can’t remember) I got promoted to a moderator, so I was moderating all boards, not just /r/ and /y/.

It was mainly banning people doing illegal things in /b/, stopping spambots, and figuring out what the fuck the people in the fashion board were reporting stuff for (They seemed to think that if a thread went too long, it was inherently a bad argument or something, so they’d report threads where people were discussing stuff for too long?).

ANYWAY working with moot at all was a nightmare, and I happily turned him down when he offered to hire me a full time on-site programmer/moderator. I saw a lot of shit I didn’t want to, and it was mostly a big waste of time that I’m not super happy about having done, but the past is the past.

btw the funniest part of working for 4chan was after /r9k/ launched (which is based on a Randall “xkcd” Munroe proposal) and I had a chat with him and he goes “don’t take this wrong, but you seem like a pretty smart person! why the fuck are you wasting your talents on 4chan?”“ and I didn’t have much of an answer.

ANYWAYS I didn’t actually do much moderating of the yaoi board. Cleaning up spam like on all boards, occasionally deleting stuff that broke the rules (shota or furry), that’s about it. /y/ was a pretty quiet and well behaved board, at least for 4chan.

also I think most people forget that even outside 4chan the average tolerance for overt racism, antisemitism, misogyny, much less homo/transphobia was completely different ten years ago, which is the timeframe where the "4chan phase" most often comes up. chances were that if you were in any gaming related forums you were regularly exposed to people saying racial slurs and making rape jokes. I'm not old enough to remember the worst of it but even reddit didn't have any site wide rules against hate-speech until the last like 5 years, and it wasn't actively enforced in the sense that moderators not complying could be banned until much more recently. being on internet forums at all before 2010 somewhat implies you were complicit in what "having a 4chan phase" is essentially trying to convey as an accusation, which is knowingly participating in communities where hate speech was somewhat tolerated, at least to the extent that users weren't consistently banned for it. the state of online discourse was completely different before it coalesced around a handful of professionally moderated social media sites.

In middle school he would stop caring about school and started smoking weed and drinking vodka. In nine years he would have attended seven schools. In 2010 he would drop out of Highschool and continue playing video games and smoking weed and drinking.

In 2015 he was caught with an invalid prescription for suboxone at a mall to which he was banned from for a year. Later that year he was caught loitering in the mall to which they searched his car finding a forearm grip for a AR-15 semiautomatic rifle and six unloaded magazines capable of holding 40 rounds each but was let off it was legal in the state. Roofs Suboxone charge was mishandled and a system error took it as a misdemeanour instead of a felony. Which would have possibly prohibited him from purchasing the firearm.

Later Dylann would look into the Trayvon Martin case and from an unknown article concluded Zimmerman was in the right. He then fell down a rabbit hole of black on white crime and misinformation. He then found 4chan and would find even more misinformation and hard right ideologies Dylann states he hasn’t been the same since that day. Which leads to his manifesto titled ‘The last Rhodesian’ Rhodesia being the African state founded in 1965 ran by primary Europeans and a white supremacy ideology before being abolished in 1979. The term now sticks with white supremac!sts like Dylann had became, as he also used the flag on his jacket. In preparation before the attack he looked up black churches and found the Emanuel Methodist Episcopal Church and would scout the area and ask around about mass times.

June 15th 2015 somewhere around 8:00pm Dylann entered the church, once he did he was greeted by Rev.Pinckney and given a bible to study with. Roof was sat next to Pinckney as the study continued. As the study closed and the ending pray started Roof stood up and pulled out his Glock 41 .45 calibre handgun and began shooting. Killing Pinckney first. Then 26 year old Tywanza Sanders stood up to plead with Dylann before he said ‘I have to do it. You rape our women and you’re taking over our country and you have to go’ he then shot and k!lled Sharonda Singleton, Dr. Daniel L. Simmons, Ethel Lee Lance, Cynthia Hurd, Myra Tompson and Tywanza Sanders. Dylann would reload 5 times that day. Polly Shepherd was spared when he asked her if he shot her yet to which she replied no he then told her ‘good cause we need someone to survive because I’m gonna shoot myself and you’ll be the only survivor. He then turned the gun on himself realizing he was out of ammo. He then left the church to the surprise there wasn’t anyone outside. The next day the police confirmed the gunman was 21 year old Dylann Roof with witnesses reporting they saw him drive towards Shelby, a town close to Charleston. At 10:44am Roof was arrested at a traffic stop in Shelby where it was then confirmed he worked alone.

Five days after the shooting the grand jury announced that Roof was being indicted for 33 federal charges.

12 counts hate crime against black people

12 counts obstructing the exercise of religion

9 counts murder using a firearm.

On June 6th Roof reportedly did not want to be trialed by jury and instead let the judge decide if he was guilty and if the death penalty was reasonable. August 23rd Roofs lawyers called the motion of death penalty unconstitutional and asked to reject the motion. On September 1st an on camera hearing was held in case of outbursts. December 7th 2016 the trial started. During a survivor statement Roofs mom collapsed as she had a heart attack. After 3 days of the trial FBI played a video on which he admitted to laughing and drinking while describing to friends how he’d shoot the church. To which his friend didn’t report to police and said he was drunk and took his keys and Glock that was on him. After 2 hours the jury found him guilty on all 33 charges. Roof wanting to plead guilty but told not to by lawyers.
