Trashing over $400 in toxic hair, skin and nail products from @nordstrom @macys @cvs @target & @walmart 🚨 My friend (that asked to stay anonymous) said “it’s not worth the risk to slather these products all over my and daughter and I. We will figure out products that will work, even if we need to cut back on certain things. I need to lead by example so my daughter can protect herself.” ☝🏻 I’m so glad I get to help families detox their home from cosmetics that should have a warning label, but don’t. 😍 Remember, your largest organ, is skin. Look for “water” as the first ingredient in your products. Look for “fragrance” or “Purfum” too. These are potentially harmful to your body. It all starts with a conversation. 🗣 Here in the Pacific Northwest I’ve been in Clean Beauty meetings all week. What is a clean beauty meeting, you ask? Its basically an in-person conversation with someone about cosmetics, laws, and WHY I choose to do what I do with BeautyCounter. I talk about WHY I decided to dedicate my life to sharing facts like this one: In the USA the FDA has banned only 11 chemicals on Cosmetics with the last law being updated in 1938. Since then there have been over 16,000 chemicals used in the cosmetic industry. 😲 The European Union “EU” bans 1300. At #Beautycounter , we ban over 1500. We go above and beyond to make sure our ingredients are clean, AND sustainable. We are one of the few cosmetic companies that 3rd party test and batch test our products. Sorry not sorry, Mom!! Today I Threw away over $250 worth of potentially harmful products that have ingredients proven to be carcinogenic and linked to cancer, hormone & endocrine distribution and even infertility! (Watch the live video on my Facebook about WHY I did it, and why each product and ingredient is bad) Proud of my mom for letting me clean out her bathroom and kitchen sink and open to changing her buying habits. She fought me at first and said “I’m older .. it’s too late .. I don’t need to change.. it won’t make a difference.” I argued because I care.. Anyone can begin to made the switch and live healthier. Hormone disruption can make menopause harder.. think of going clean like a diet or quitting drugs/smoking. . I took her to @fredmeyerstores to pick out safer alternatives, because in my little town that’s the closest store with cleaner alternatives, other than @target (Which has #EWG verifies products) After one day she came downstairs and said “wow, these are awesome products, and cheaper.” If you are alive and breathing, you should wake up and care. If you dont, at least think about your kids and grandkids that love you. At least your not ADDICTED to these, like you could be to drugs or smoking. MONDAY means there’s a new @cleanbeautypodcast episode — it dropped a few hours ago with Wendi, founder of @kudaratskincare - a gluten free skincare line that I absolutely LOVE! ✨🧪 Wendi is a former geologist, and co-author of Women Who Influence. She had ovarian CANCER and several autoimmune diseases. Doctors couldn’t figure out what was wrong with her so she took her life into her own scientific hands and threw out her beauty products. When she slowly began reintroduced products back into her life to figure out what she was reacting to, she found that even even the “best” skincare products were based with Parabens and other toxic ingredients. She started formulating her own products and her friends urged her to share them to others.
