Character Question

What if I give Bruce a sibling and they're completely normal rich person they have no idea of their siblings vigilante acts at all they went to college got married( and still is happily so after so many years of being together took their spouses name when they got married) and had kids possibly in their late 30s and early 40s completely removed from Gotham as a whole left as soon as they were able to they write letters and call their brother and Alfred occasionally but they won't ever visit unless for very special occasions they send gifts to their nieces and nephews they dealt with their parents deaths in different ways wher e Bruce went the vigilante route his sibling wanted to get away from everything that surrounded the tragedy as a whole they kinda felt like they will put it on that back burner to deal with at a later date(which by that i mean never) since Bruce looks like Thomas Sibling would look like Martha(or maybe just another clone of Thomas) can't stand Gotham at all

She was Jules’s mom.

But her hands were on Dick’s cheeks, not her son’s. And Dick didn’t understand why she was here, and not with him.

Reasons Why Bruce Wayne Refuses to Take a Break:

1. Why should he?

2. Because fuck you, that's why.

3. He's scared that if he ever actually stops to take a break, completely relax, and fully drop his guard, something horrible will happen to Gotham and/or the people he cares about and he won't be able to stop it because he wasn't prepared OR the years and years of burn out and physical/emotional pain will finally catch up to him (because he stopped running from it) and it'll hit him so hard that he'll finally have to face the trauma he endured as a child when he saw his parents die (which he is not physically capable of coping with, because the event fractured his identity into Batman, a man with childish morals and an inability to make exceptions [such as not killing a petty crook OR a mass murderer and thinking they should be dealt with the same way] and a childish sense of justice that cannot exist without him blocking out his trauma [so if he had to face that trauma his very identity would cease to exist]) therefore his mental health would be destroyed to such an extent that he'd be unable to even pretend he was alright, which in turn will make the people he cares about worry about him, and because he hates when people worry about him it'll cause him to lash out which will further isolate him from the world and from any form of human connection, leaving him sitting broken at an empty table in an empty mansion on an empty island just like he did when he was a mere, insignificant, hurt, orphaned eight year old who hadn't yet made his mark on the world-

i get bruce is emotionly unavailable as fuck but if he can do a big personality shift into Brucie, why cant he love his kids that way? sure, Bruce struggles to show his affection and Batman is a brick wall, but Brucie? Let Brucie be how he shows love when his other mindsets cant. Let Brucie be known for kissing Dick's cheek at parties before he walks off, for calling Tim 'sweetheart', for always having an arm around Cass or Babs, for always having a hand on Steph or Duke or Damian's shoulder. When he later cannot use Brucie to initiate affection with Jason, he tries his best to make the step as Bruce.

(despite this, all his children know that when they receive affection from Brucie, it is also from Bruce. it looks like a performance but at the end of the day these are two parts of the same man and Brucie is just as real, just as much their father, as Bruce is)
