#batman: causing mayhem all around him while doing good in the world
Text
Clockwork sees how stressed Danny is from trying to be the goodest boy and never do anything remotely bad that could turn him evil and thinks he may have overdone it. At this rate his panic over never doing anything evil is going to force him to emotionally burn out and stop caring. Then he'll turn evil anyway.
So Clocky does something that sounds completely ridiculous in theory. He scoops Danny up and drops him into a universe full of superheros and villains and tells him to "Do whatever you want. There will be no consequences for you." Then he leaves.
And just like that, Danny goes apeshit. He decides to do the one thing he always wanted to do but was too afraid to because he didn't want to be judged, or worse, forced to join his parents.
He becomes a supervillian. Not as Phantom, no. But as Fenton! He goes full super genius mad scientist and terrorizes whatever city he's in. The local superhero is being driven insane as Danny builds death rays, shrink rays, his own modified version of the GAV, ect.
The best part if that the local heros can never catch him for long and when he is caught he always escapes before he is transported to whatever facility they wanted him in. He always ends up back in his home dimension where he goes back to acting normal and no one from either human dimension or the Infinite Realms knows what he's up to (except the stop watch of course)
After a particularly fun day in which Danny highjacks all broadcasting services to teach everyone in the world how to make insulin at home so you didn't have to pay a ridiculous amount for necessary medication, the Justice League was now on his tail.
Danny just laughs, thinking there's no way they'd ever be able to arrest him. Little does he know some guy calling himself Batman is leading the mission and he has no intention of arresting him. Danny, much to his horror, becomes far to familiar with adoption papers. As in he keeps having to set them on fire.

The Red Hoods Protègè chapter 5
Older Damian Wayne x ofc
Tumblr media
(Photo made by my lovely friend @bakketsux)
Summary:Red hood has taken a young vigilante under his wing and subsequently changes Damians life forever. (I suck at summary’s)
A light streams through the blinds, shining a light into Damians eyes as he stirs awake. He opens his eyes and looks around him for the cause of him waking up besides the light.
He looks down and sees Titus awake sitting on his feet. The large dogs ears perk up at seeing him awake. Damian sits up and scratches behind the large dogs ears, a smile forming on his face at the sight of his dogs tongue hanging from his mouth. Titus rolls into his back as Damian rubs his tummy.
Damian gets up and goes to his closet. Pulling out some sweatpants and a random shirt. He puts his clothes on and brushes his hair back to tame the mess of bed head hair he’s got. Titus barks at him signaling that he’s tired of waiting.
Damian smiles and grabs the handle to the door and Titus walks down the large hallway towards the kitchen. When he walks in he sees Tim pouring his usual mug of black coffee with enough sugar to rot a persons teethe. His long hair falling in his face clad in a white button up shirt and dark brown slacks with black dress shoes.
Damian walks over and grabs Titus his bowl and puts his food in for him, the dog munching almost immediately after its set on the ground. He grabs some bread and throws it in the toaster. He then pours himself a glass of coffee.
The two men stand at the kitchen island and enjoy their breakfast in silence. Due to growing older and living in the same mansion for over 8 years the two brothers have simmered down their obvious hated towards one another. They aren’t close by any means, but they can stay in a room together and not try to rip their throats out. Sometimes they can even have a small conversation here and there without a screaming match. Tim grabs some papers off the table, and heads to the door on his way to presumably a meeting.
After him and Titus finish eating he puts his cup in the sink and heads back to his room to get ready for the day properly.
He goes to the bathroom and brushes his teeth and grabs his sneakers and heads out the door.
He steps outside and is hit by the fresh smell of the flowers planted by the door, the ray of the sun a warm welcome to his bare skin as he strips his shirt off and starts his run. He runs around the manor a few times and then starts for the trail into the woods, Titus is right behind him as he jogs through the tall trees, the wind carrying a strong smell of oak and pine. He stops his run and heads back for the manor to finish up some work for the day.
The sound of the busy streets and yelling of people drown out any other sounds in the night as Damian swings from his grapple hook to a large building to watch over the dark but bright city.
He sees a figure on a rooftop and goes to inspect who it could be. He lands on the roof silently and watches the figure as they sit on the edge and look down.
“You know, for how quiet you are, you’d think of wearing all black so you don’t stand out like a soar thumb.” It was her, but why was she sitting on the ledge of a building? Shouldn’t she be with Jason? Or anything else? The questions kept swirling in his head until he heard her speak again.
“Are you just gonna stand there or something? Don’t you have crime to go fight?” “Tonight’s been fairly uneventful, no big drug deals, no evil scientists trying to kill us all or anything tonight. Seems like the bad guys took a vacation tonight.” “Who knows, maybe condiment king has something he’s planing, he’s gonna paint the whole city in ketchup and mustard!” This made Damian chuckle, “maybe crazy quilt plans to blanket the entire city in a huge quilt and drown us all in fabric.” He says back. This made the girl laugh, a laugh he never expected from her. It wasn’t full of sarcasm like he expected. It was almost a mix of a giggle and a regular belly laugh. The sound sounding, innocent almost.
She lowers her head as she laughs as a large warm smile graces her usually bratty and cold face. “M-maybe kite man and-and crazy quilt are teaming up to take over the city!!” She says through her laughs. This got Damian to laugh himself. Both enjoying the calm but funny atmosphere they have for the first time.
“Wow you can laugh, you could’ve fooled me into thinking you had no emotions like the bats.” “You know I’m not a robot, I do have some feelings.” “Yeah, I guess we all do don’t we. Even when we try our hardest not to show it.” Her once happy and playful voice taking a sad, broken sounding voice. She looks down at the city, Damian taking a seat a foot away from her. “Why are you up here?” “I could ask you the same thing.” “I saw you sitting here, didn’t know who you where until I got on the roof. But that doesn’t answer my question.” “Just some memories, that’s all I’m gonna say.”
The two sit there in silence as they watch over the city. The bright lights cashing a large light into the black sky. “Hey.” Damian looks at her, her head turned towards him but looking slightly down. “I’m sorry for saying you’re no robin. I see how much good you do for the city, and how much you care for the innocent. You’re just not what I expected whenever I thought of who robin is. But I’m not sorry for killing them. I don’t want to kill every single one. I get some can be helped and I want that. But some just can’t and will kill more and more until they die.” “As Batman always says, that’s not our decision to make. It’s not our job to decide who lives and who dies. Or job is to stop them and put them away.” “But what if you could save millions, just by ending one? What if you could make this city or even the world a better and safer place where people can enjoy life? Where, kids won’t be ripped away from their family?” Her voice broke as she said kids. He wonders what could’ve happened to her but before he can think anymore she stands up. “I’m gonna head towards the docks and see if there’s anything.” She jumps off the building but before she hits the ground she grapples towards the next building, Damian watching her until she disappears into the night.
The sounds of guns being loaded and the heavy footsteps of boots walking on the floor fills the small room. Angel starts putting on her suit in her bedroom. Starting at the legs and pulling the tight material up her legs, then when it reaches her hips she takes a deep breath as she slips it up her torso and her arms. She then Secures her hood over her head, finally putting her mask on and heads out her door.
When she steps into the living room she sees Jason’s shoulders are tense, his body rigid as he hurily gets his weapons ready. “I don’t want you going out tonight.” “What, why?” She’s confused, she’s gone out plenty of times with him, she’s fought plenty of people and monsters twice his size and he’s never had an issue with it before, so why this time?
“It’s bane, it’s way too dangerous for you to go on this one. I’m not even gonna mess with him on this one.” “I’ve gone up against croc before and handled myself.” “And crocs just an animal. He’s lost so much of his humanity that his strength is literally that. His strength. Bane not only matches croc in brute force but he’s got brains of a genius. It’s way too dangerous and I don’t want you getting hurt. There’s just some criminals I don’t want you to fight up against and that’s final.” “You know I get I’m Legally your daughter but I’m not fragile. I have to learn at some point and I don’t want you to keep babying me.” “I said this is final. You’re not going out tonight.” “And what if you get hurt? What if he gets a hold of you and hurts you because you went alone?” “Yeah and I’d much rather be the one hurt or dead over my daughter!” At this point Jason has moved over to her, looking her dead in the eyes as he says this. “Yeah and you’re my dad! You know I sometimes can’t tell if you’re holding me back like a baby or if you’ve got a suicide wish! Is that why you won’t let me go after joker?!” “Don’t you DARE bring up that bastard's name!” At this point both of them are shouting at one another. The Loudness of their voices booming off the walls. “Well we have to at some point cause you treat me like I’m fragile glass that’ll break after one fucking hit!” “I SAID THIS IS FINAL! YOU’RE NOT GOING OUT ON THIS ONE TONIGHT! I’LL BE DAMNED IF I LOOSE YOU TOO!”
She can see tears threatening in Jason’s eyes. She doesn’t respond not out of fear of what he’ll do to her, but out of worry for the man she thinks of as her father. “Then I’ll be watching the news making sure you’re okay. Just please promise me one thing.” “What is it.” “Don’t get yourself killed, I need you just as much as you need me dad.” Her voice cracks as she speaks. Tears pooling in her eyes.
Jason pulls her into a bone crushing hug as tears escape both their eyes. “I promise I won’t sweet girl, I’ll never leave you.” “I love you dad..so much.” She sobs. “I love you too my sweet angel. I’ll always come home no matter what, you’re my world.” Jason kisses her forehead then let’s go of her. He puts his helmet on and steps out the door, taking a look at her and then shutting the door.
She paces around the living room as she watches the tv.
Fear and anxiety making it impossible to sit as she watches the mayhem unfold. Bane broke out of blackgate along with his mercenaries, the streets filled with bodies as the men forged on.
She has been keeping an eye out for Jason, he hadn’t been seen the entire night but she knew he was there. The men who fought alongside bane had bullet holes to the head as the numbers dwindled down.
While she was relieved to see he was keeping to his word by not going after bane, she was still frightened that the criminal mastermind would trick him and hurt him or, she couldn’t even imagine what the last option was as tears threatened again.
She stopped in her probably 100 track around the room at the sight of bane holding Jason in the air. Her heart stopped as he threw him as if he was a rag doll. She knows she promised him she wouldn’t go out. But at the sight of him laying on the ground was all she could think of as she strapped her weapons to herself. She never took her suit off in case something like this were to happen.
She ran out the door and hopped on her bike as she sped down the streets as fast as she could. The wind crashing against her, not helping the feeling of the blood pumping all throughout her body. Her heart hammering in her chest the closer she got.
She saw the sight of Batman fighting bane no more than 100 feet away as she jumped from her bike and sprinted to her dad.
In the time she got there Jason somewhat recovered enough to keep fighting. “I TOLD YOU TO STAY BACK!” He yelled as he fired off at another mercenary. “YEAH WELL I SAW YOU GET THROWN LIKE A DOLL AND SLIDE DOWN THE BUILDING LIKE A SLINKY!” She yells as she stabs a man charging after Jason. The pair fighting beside one another as more and more men try to take them down.
She sees a flash before her eyes and sees a man behind her knocked out. She looks up at the sight of Robin looking at her. She nods her head as she runs towards Jason. She pulls out her gun and shoots another man in the head and grabs another man's head and slams it into a window.
The adrenaline pumping through her as she fights the hardest she’s had to before. She’s gone up against plenty of men who are triple her size but has never gone up against trained assassins before.
She hears a yell come from behind her and sees Batman thrown into a building. His body laying on the ground momentarily. But as quickly as he was thrown he shakes his head and gets back up only to be picked up by the throat by bane. Before she can do anything Robin charges at him and hits him with enough force to knock bane onto the ground.
The 2 fight for a few seconds until she sees it. The shine of the blade coming into view and before it’s in the air she charges over and swings up and locks her legs around his head. She pulls her grappling gun and strangles him as she kicks him in the head whilst still holding the rope around his neck. But as she jumps off from him completely he reaches out and takes a hold of her and throws her to the ground. The impact alone knocking all the wind from her body as he hits her in the back. A scream ripping through her at the impact cuts through her. He hits her again in the side as another scream comes out but much weaker as she feels the pain rip through her from the inside out. But nothing is as bad as the searing white hot pain in her back.
As she lays on the ground the need to breathe becomes harder as she sees bane taken down.
She lays there as she hears footsteps come towards her. Fearing this is the end until a figure crouches down to her. The image fuzzy until she sees the cape and mask of robin. Even with a mask covering his eyes she sees the fear and panic cover his face. “Help me, please. It hurts so badly.” She sobs out as best as she can. “I know it does, I’m going to take you away from here, everything’s gonna be okay.” She feels him slowly pick her up and cradle her to his chest as she wraps her arms around him. His other arm going to her legs as he picks her up and starts running.
The feel of his arms holding her as her face is in his chest making her want to fall asleep as the pain subsides.
She doesn’t remember how long he ran for until she feels him lower to the ground whilst still holding her to him. He unwraps his arms from her legs and sets her on the ground. She opens her eyes to see him taking his cape off and ripping it and wrapping it around her thigh. She hadn’t even realized she had been cut until the sting of pressure from the material being wrapped around it. A groan leaving her body at it. “I know it hurts but I need to stop the bleeding.” He goes to her stomach and rubs slightly, the feel of his hands both firm but gentle as he feels for anything broken. A groan leaving her as he reaches her waist. “you broke your fourth rib on your right side but thankfully it missed your appendix. The best thing to do is to let it heal as it doesn’t feel detached. Where else does it hurt?” She can’t answer him as she feels as if she’ll fall asleep any second. “Hey hey hey stay with me okay. I know you’re tired but I need you to stay awake for me okay?” She hears the fear in his voice as she opens her eyes again. “Tell me where it hurts so I can help you.” She grabs his hand from around her, a small shock at the warmth of his skin. She brings it to the side of her back and a cry leaving her at the feeling of his palm resting on her skin. “There’s no bleeding and I don’t feel anything protruding out. Maybe when he threw you it knocked something out of place or twisted something.” “It just hurts so bad and I’m. Im so cold.” She shakes as the chill in the air reaches her bones. “Hold on let me help you.” His arms again wrap around her as she feels his cape being draped over her body. She’s again flushed to his chest as she hears him talking. “Batman I’m in an alley between a Italian restaurant and a maroon apartment building a quarter a mile away from your location. Bring red hood with you. Archangel was hurt but nothing dire but a broken rib, a gash on her right thigh and a possible spinal disc herniation on the upper back.” She didn’t hear anything back but knew her father was on his way to her. “I need you to stay away for me okay. Tell me how did your day go today?” “It went well, I watched a movie this afternoon.” “What was the movie?” “Star Wars the force awakens. It fucking sucked.” A laugh bubbles out from Damian at what she said. “Oh yeah, what made the movie suck?” “Where do I even fucking begin! Kyle ren is more angsty than you are and hux can go shove a lightsaber up his ass till it goes through his mouth. And Rey has more mommy and daddy issues than the Winchester brothers.” A large laugh comes out from Damian at the true anger coming from her. “You really don’t like that movie don’t you?” “Not at all. The director of that movies got more issues than Batman does.” “I don’t even know if that’s possible.” “I heard that you know.” The sound of the deep voice making both of them turn their heads and see the cape. Before they can say anything Jason runs over and wraps his arms around her. “This is why I didn’t want you coming out tonight. I thought I lost you.” “You won’t loose me, I’m never leaving.” Her back now turned from Damian, he looks and sees a large patch of blood from her right shoulder blade. “You’re shoulder blade is bleeding” he puts his hand on the area and a large scream rips out of her.
But not a pained scream, a scream so loud he didn’t see her turn around and claw at his face. She jumps on top of him and wraps her hands around his throat as she keeps screaming at him. “DON’T FUCKING TOUCH ME!” She’s ripped off of Damian by Jason as she falls into Jason’s arms and sobs. But before he can say anything she takes off down the alley as fast as she can. The sight of her disappears as Jason runs after her. What could have happened to her?

Rebuild: Behind The Scenes
I thought just for some fun, I might post the plan I made for writing Rebuild. It has some silly alternate titles, some doodles I sketched out, and I thought some people might like to see how much the end product was different from the plan.
I do also have a section of the plan just for ideas, but I haven’t included it here because it contains spoilers for the sequel(s).
Hope you enjoy my ramblings below! (Obviously it contains major spoilers for all of Rebuild, so make sure you’re read all that before reading this!)
Rex Brickowski AU Outline
C1: Rexile (AKA Anikin Voice: "I hate Sand". AKA What to do when you're suddenly not dead)
Rex ends up back in his own original timeline in the outskirts of Syspocalypstar. He’s alone, no Rexcelsior, no velociraptors. That makes him sad.
He looks to the city and thinks about everything.
Cat lady comes, he gets bricks and builds and awesome bike  and drives to the city.
C2: Shattered (AKA Rex really likes bikes for some reason and also fucks shit up)
There, Lucy and the others are chillin in a park while Rex tears through the city exploring, turning heads.
He goes up a ramp that sends him up over a building above the park. Whilst in the air he grabs his bike and does a flip. The others watch him. He lands on the road next to the park and spots Lucy, his eyes go wide. He does a skidding turn to pull up beside them.
They say how awesome that was. They don’t recognise him and he plays along with that. He needs to get used to them and himself before he drops a bombshell on them.
They show him around the city. He gets a black coffee from the shop. Freezes when he sees a laundromat (PTSD), he hallucinates the deafening roar of the Dryar of Undar until Unikitty distracts him and pulls him away and they continue the tour.
At one point Everything is awesome plays, he acts aloof but taps his foot quietly and lucy notices.
Eventually they get to the town square. There is a statue of Emmet. Rex is immediately taken aback and asks what it is (to gauge his friends reactions and also because he's genuinely surprised to see he's been acknowledged).
Lucy says it honours the special, Emmet. That he was there friend. That they looked for him for a while, but eventually had to admit that he was gone, so they stopped looking.
BIG ANGST TIME.
Rex snaps. He’s still bitter. He starts off vauge like “You gave up? Would he have given up on you?” but gets increasingly louder and madder. Revealing that he was trapped in Undar, how he feels abandoned and slowly revealing to the others that he’s Emmet. Lucy is like “Emmet…?” And he’s like “Emmet is gone! He’s dead!”
He breaks the statue in one punch in anger. His friends are horrified. He looks between them and the statue, shocked and saddened by himself. “What have done?” (Internally). He drives off, leaving the others sad and confused.
C3: Traces Of You (AKA Talking to your ex who you feel betrayed you, even though she thought you were dead… that's rough buddy)
Alternate titles, How can you stand there, a whisper from me? Gone But Not Forgotten
After a short while, giving everyone some time to breathe/ think, Lucy finds Rex in the outskirts. They talk. He explains how he toughened up, how he did some terrible things, how he wants to be better but doesn’t know how. How he’s ruined any chance he had with his friends because of the statue incident. Tears form in his eyes. Lucy goes to comfort him with a hand on his shoulder and says “Emmet...” Queue the “I’m not Emmet anymore and I dont know how to be” line.
Tumblr media
Lucy convinces him to not be just one, be a combination. That his friends can help him through this and him to be happier again. He says he’s still can’t fully/ needs time to trust them again, but he’s willing to try. Oh and to call him Rex, cause he wants to be different from movie Emmet.
C4: Building Blocks (AKA DON'T TOUCH ME WHEN I'M WRITING ABOUT SPACESHIPING!!!!)
Lucy and the others ask Rex to build something with them. He decides on a spaceship, they let him lead. Friend interactions.
C5: Time Heals All Wounds (AKA So it turns out you based your entire new personality on your friends and also you finally acknowledge your PTSD)
Over a longer time period (make this clear), montage of helping with each individual. Them understanding Rex and who he is more, maybe after he tries to act exactly like Emmet would but it’s unnatural for him? Finding out about raptor training. Helping him cope with his PTSD (Dryar, paralyzation, loneliness) and abandonment issues.
(after writing half the chapter, i realised) His hand injury and recovery mirror emotional healing! )
https://askmarietheapprentice.tumblr.com/post/183050688583/meta-monday-rex-dangervest-based-his-persona-on
Order:
Fist, alone with Benny, flying spaceship they all built. (Who Rex developed his spaceship love from.) Emotional thing dealt with: ?
Unikitty. He learnt to harness/ weaponize rage from. Unikitty encouraging him to release some anger and destroy some rubble. Helps him get his anger feels out.
Metalbeard. About being a captain of pirates/ raptors. Talk about how he misses them.
Batman. Learnt how to be tough fighter and suppress deep emotional issues. See below for events. Then they talk about talking through things with others, stuff B learnt in Lego batman movie.
Maybe he’s left alone for ten mins whilst a friend goes to grab a brick or something and is terrified they wont come back. He’s relieved but visibly shaken when they do return.
Maybe a change over between friends. One has to go and leaves Rex to meet the batman outside of a shop. As he waits his mind wanders thinking Batman has forgotten about him, doesn't want to meet with him, or even like him etc. As this happens he hallucinates hearing the dryer roar. He stands frozen in place, covering his ears as his vision gets darker. Maybe this causes him to glitch to the real world and back every few seconds. The roar gets louder and louder and louder. Batman comes, sees Rex, is concerned and tries to get his attention by touching his shoulder. Rex freaks out, snapping out of his hallucination shouting/ screaming and madly thrashing punches. He smashes a bin or lamppost or car to pieces before Batman can calm him and he realises he's fine. Rex apologies.
Lucy. Made a super cool alias like Wyldstyle, and hides his insecurities under confident exterior like her. Maybe they talk on their way to her surprise. She asks why he changed his name and himself? He explains his thoughts on Undar, how at the time he thought his friends were right and so he toughened up. Made a cool name like she did. He realises a lot of his Rex traits are semi based on his friends. Maybe talk about how it's good to be confident but also not bad to be vulnerable/ talk about problems with others. He realises he's already been doing this with others? Or just have mostly fun not angst for them here!? Meh, idk yet.
Ends with Lucy giving him that cute little house he made for her, that he’d almost forgotten about. Says it’s just a basis and he can change it if he wants. Talk. Suggests they could be platonic (for now) roommates. She leaves him for the night, he’s now ok (ish) with being left alone.
C6: True Colours (AKA Title made it sound like Rex would turn out evil but surprise! He actually just wanted to look pretty. AKA Rex stares in a mirror for an awkwardly long time)
When Lucy returns, Rex looks different. He briefly went to the Man Upstairs realm and used markers etc, to change his appearance. He wanted some brighter colours to look happier, and more like a combo of Emmet and Rex. He explains this, and decides he wants to be called Rex Brickowski to symbolise this combo of all his aspects.
Basically this first bit is the man I used to be from count of Monte cristo musical.
Tumblr media
(Rex and Lucy designs and also size comparison.)
Maybe some Rex and friends hanging out, it’s better than before. Group karaoke? Tries to warm up to Sweet Mayhem?
C7: Epilogue (AKA The end happens. Everything is awesome is still a bop)
Rex and CO are hopeful for the future. Rex knows who he is now and thinks he can be happy again and trust his friends. He’s a mix of mature and innocent/ sweet. He can now enjoy ‘childish’ things and tough things. He’s happy and thinks everything might be ok now.
Maybe he goes to the coffee shop, orders Lucy something and a black coffee with 25 sugars for himself and returns home, listening to rock music on his headphones.
(End on poignant thing.)
Side Notes/ Reminders For Myself
“According to a draft from the first film's script, Emmet is 22 years of age in that film, thus making him 27 in the sequel if accepted.” My AU Rex spent 2 years on Undar, plus 5 getting tough before the movie happens. Making him 34 at the start of the AU.
Rex was in his past changing things. But when Emmet was saved, it was no longer his past/ his timeline. So he faded and was sent back to his original timeline. All the stuff he did in the movie timeline still happened, we see three raptors are still there with Ms Scratchen-Post at the end. So the raptors stay where they are in the movie timeline, because they aren’t like Rex who is being written out of the movie timeline’s future. Which is why Rex is alone at the start of this AU.
Very important! Rex's trust of his friends. My take: friends are the most important thing to Emmet. With friends, he was happy even during the apocalypse. Without them, he becomes jaded, tough. Lucy is who he was closest to/ loved. None of his friends, but especially her not coming for him and moving on hurt him the most. As Rex, he was most mad at her (see him scowling at her during the movie). But then they all try to come back for movie Emmet. Lucy makes it through and saves him. She saved him. This changes post back to the futuring Rex's view. The fact the movie Lucy saved him plus the fact he loved her and cared for her the most before, means AU Rex is inclined to trust her most.
Titles for 3 stories: Rebuild. Rekindle. Re-----. (I'm an idiot for planning 3 of these!!!!!)
Rebuild: Rex's relationships and himself up again.
Rekindle: his and Lucy's love for each other.
Re-----: ((REDACTED BECAUSE IT’S A SPOILER! You’re gonna have to wait to find out what it is!))

And that’s it! This is the rambling mess that brought you Rebuild. Hope it was interesting to see.
As another note of my writing process, I did a lot of jumping around. If I had an idea for some lines of dialogue pop into my head, I wrote it down before I forgot and then slightly altered it and filled in the gaps later. In fact that whole bit between Lucy and Rex in chapter 3 was almost all dialogue (with a few notes like “He turned. She smiles” Etc in between) and then later after writing some of chapter 4, I went back and filled in all the gaps.
I would really recommend writing down whatever pops into your head like this if you want to write things. You might think “Oh, i’ll remember to put this in when I get to writing here!”, that is a lie. You won’t. Or it’ll be different to that brilliant thing you came up with whilst day dreaming out a window. It’s definitely better to jot it down and have it, then decide to edit it later if you don’t like it, than lose it entirely. Just make sure when reading over your chapter/ story that everything flows together nicely. :)
This method also meant I wrote chapters 5, 6 and 7 simultaneously. I had about half of chapter 6 and 7 done whilst I was still making my way through 5. (Probably because 5 was so big!) But then when I was done with 5, I finished off 6, then 7. It also really helped when I came up with the idea to put the first line of the story as the last line too. It gave me a direction to go in for the last chapter (after Rex get’s back from the coffee shop) and also was a nice way to end it off.
Anyway! Hopefully I see you all again for Rekindle! Which by the way, if there is anything involving the characters from this story that you might want to see, please let me know! I might just fit it in somewhere! :D

Send Help: Addicted to Roleplay and Chipotle
Greetings from Earth! First time poster to this blog and stoked to meet some new partners. My name is Chris and I'm a male nurse (Yo, you're going to get some medically accurate roleplay) in his late twenties. I have a lovely wife and two stupidly handsome animals (Pictures of the animals available on request) but manage to maintain a pretty active roleplay life due to the fact that I work nights. The Basics: I tell everyone that I'm a professional. I try to reply 1-3 times a week and the length of posts depends on amount of characters in play. If I'm going to take longer, I always try to let you know. I'm willing to write male and female characters and focus on M/F as the male and F/F. M/M just isn't my thing, sorry y'all. My limits include pedophilia, rape, and animal abuse. Anything else can be discussed. I prefer e-mail for writing ([email protected]) but have Discord for plotting (NurseBatman#3674). If we get along really well, you can convince me into discord roleplay. The text limit just drives me nuts. I do use faceclaims pretty aggressively. Is there anything else? Central time zone?
Onto the roleplay stuff. I'll start with originals and then dive into fandoms. I put extra *s by the lines that I will literally lose my mind if you approach me about. Searching hard! -The Social Media Age****** A m/f line that I've given a little thought to, looking for someone to write a young woman that is pretty much making her living being an instagram model/fitness person, etc. I think the proper term is *Influencer*. Meets and starts dating a successful guy with no presence online, the two falling for each other but at odds over their differing attitudes towards the world. -This American Life Something set in the 1970s, focusing on a roadtrip. A group of teenagers leave their small town behind to head out west. I love this time period. Can be supernatural, supernatural lite (think Twin Peaks weirdness) or totally natural. -Stranger Things inspired A group of four to six friends enjoy their last summer together in a remote town as strangeness begins to unfurl. I'd be willing to set this in the present but think it would be way more fun in the 70s or 80s. I have an idea for one of the kids having lost a sibling in a strange way when they were young and possibly some sort of cult in town.
Fandoms!
-Star Wars**
I know Reylo is all the rage these days, as is Qi'Ra/Han. But, man ALIVE, I really want something focusing on the core four: Luke, Leia, Han, and, ya boy, Chewie. Something taking place in that three year gap between New Hope and Empire as they work among the rebellion. Strange new worlds, getting into scrapes, sharply running from the empire, avoiding Vader, bounty hunters, and all sorts of things. This time period is far from explored and we can really thrive in the galaxy. Primarily I want to focus on the budding relationship between Han and Leia and Luke's training, pre-Yoda. In a perfect world, I'd want to write Han and Chewie (If anyone thinks Chewie is just a NPC, get out my face) while my partner takes on Leia and Luke. I'd be willing to switch out Chewie for Luke if need be, I guess? We could also split up C3PO and R2. I also would enjoy writing a young Amilyn Holdo and a few other soldiers. Let's real build out the resistance and delve into the 'WARS' part of those big yellow letters that never get enough attention. On top of all of that, I also have an original love interest in mind for Luke if someone else plays him! She's a spitfire. Alternatively, I'd be down for writing something set in the clone wars. Perhaps two jedi that broke the order's relationship laws and then survived Order 66 together? -Preacher Seriously. Love this show, love this comic. Would happily write Jesse or Cassidy against Tulip. Just definitely looking for a Tulip -The Boys Would love to write Hughie against Starlight! Currently working my way through the season that just dropped. -Marvel -I will love you forever if you write an Elektra against my Daredevil. They are toxic and in love and I love it. Whether it be the comics or the Netflix series, I don't care. Someone please write me an Elektra. Netflix did a good job of portraying this one -Alternatively, I'd also be happy to write against a Black Widow, either with Daredevil. They were a mainstay OTP in the comics in the 90s and I'd love to write against Scarlet's Black Widow. -Has anyone seen the trailer for the neverendingly delayed New Mutants movie? I would love to write something based on that horror aspect of the mutant universe.* -I'd love to write an older MCU Peter Parker (like college) running across a MCU version of Black Cat. Or just a Spiderman roleplay in general. I've always wanted to write Peter but have never gotten the chance! I have a ton of ideas for this, plus faceclaims for a few of the villains. Would also be willing to play him against Zendaya's MJ, Spidergwen, or Silk (Deepcut)**************************** (I so badly want to write Peter) -One of the pairings that was done for a time in the comics was Star Lord against Kitty Pryde and it was actually a lot of fun. If anyone would want to do a MCU version of this, I would so *DOWN* to play Quill, Xmen hijinks a plenty in space -If you write Jessica Jones, I'd be willing to write almost anyone against her (NOT KILGRAVE). Just let me know. I'd be super down to write Luke Cage or maybe Matt Murdock. I do a mean John Constantine, which, let's face it, is a cross company illustration of the two most terrible people together -Hawkguys! I would love to either write Clint against Kate Bishop (This would be a slightly skewed MCU vibe) or Kate against America Chavez. I would really love to do either of these lines. Or a poly version if someone is willing! -I'd love to write Logan as an active member of the MCU Avengers, possibly as a partner in crime/wetworks/murder with Black Widow. Those two could cause some mayhem. -Honestly, any X-men relationship could be sold to me. Just try it. I would love to find a Kitty for Piotr, a Rogue for Remy, or almost anyone for Kurt.
-DC I'd love to write Batman against Catwoman, please. Or John Constantine against literally almost anyone -Hannibal I've been dying to do a sort of season 4 for a while now, focused on Clarice Starlings interaction with Will Graham and later Hannibal Lecter. Just need to find someone willing to create an original style Clarice. -Resident Evil I'd like to write Leon against Claire Redfield or Jill Valentine in an original outbreak or a new one. I know this is an old school fandom but I'm a diehard fan. -Star Trek Okay, so first up, I am not the most well versed Trekkie in the world. Never watched any of the TV shows but am a massive fan of the trio of rebooted films and would love to give Kirk or Bones a try against Uhura, Dr. Eve, or maybe a female Vulcan OC? Hit me with ideas! -The Matrix Another obscure fandom. Maybe just an original crew, set during the movies, after, or an AU where they're the only survivors of Zion? Im not sure but I could plot something out!
-Uncharted I'd love to write Chloe Frazier against Nadine Ross, continuing their adventures. I'm pretty wide open on what we can do with this one. RANDOM CRACK SHIPS! Caught in a Web: I would love to write an iteration (Daniel Craig or an original) of James Bond/007 against a non superhero version of Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow. Spy vs spy shenanigans as two people working for different governments. Totally impossibly but putting it just in case: Did anyone see all that Wonder Woman/Lara Croft art that was floating around the internet earlier this year? I would love to dive into that. I'd prefer to write Lara but I'm definitely not picky. If you made it this far, you're a hero and I owe you a beer. Hope to hear from some great writers! Let's create something *EPIC*

Do you have a list of all time fav? Like some certain fics you always go back to all the time and can't let go?
There are some faves! There are actually 2 of us on this blog (I got help guys it’s so exciting!) so I’ll put the recs from each of us & try to indicate whose is whose? And maybe eventually we’ll introduce ourselves? (Sorry all of mine have been recommended already)
You could also ask me my fave fics tomorrow and they’d probably change and I’m pretty sure that’s true for both of us.
Cat’s Faves
Thief!Dick Verse by JayDick_Hell
Dick Grayson’s life ended the night he witnessed his parents fall in the Big Top. He raised himself on the streets and learned to hone his various talents to grow into the talented and notorious thief known as Robin. One day, he finds himself in Blüdhaven, sizing up a place when he’s interrupted by the Red Hood.
Jason Todd finally branched out from the shadow of the Bat, ready to be his own hero. He just decided ‘Haven would be his Gotham when he came across a handsome stranger clearly up to no good. Naturally, he had to put a stop to the criminal. He never expected to get addicted to the wily thief.
For what it’s worth: So good. Very cute series, I love it so much.
Bite Me to the Bone by elwon
After six months walking around with a beating heart, Dick wishes he could use the speed, strength and abilities he’s used to. Because he’s still a soulless demon deep down. Being able to walk in the daylight and eat pizza do not make up for this utter humiliation and punishment. But then the Red Hood appears, and things start to look up.
For what it’s worth: So good. Just. amazingly fantastic.  Side note on this one: I actually told my mom how obsessed I was with this fic within 10 minutes of finishing it.
Fumes of our love by moonfox281
Behind every successful man, there is a woman… No, no it’s not! It’s 2016 for God’s sake. You can’t assume anybody’s gender. It must change to 'Behind every successful husband, there is a wife.’ Cause wife is just a title, not a gender, and, yeah, let admit it, there are a wife and husband in every relationship.Things are the same, just a lot stranger when you’re a powerful mob boss, and your other half is a hot ass super-hero.
For what it’s worth: I think the coolest way to approach their relationship is when you’re looking at Jason being a crime lord vs Dick being a vigilante and this fic does it perfectly.
Another Perfect Catastrophe by Mikimoo, pentapus (Artwork here)
Dick goes undercover as himself in order to catch a gang of international thieves. Jason reluctantly tags along as his long suffering bodyguard. During the ensuing mayhem they get to know each other again and build a few bridges.
For what it’s worth: they have to work together to take down crime while undercover??? sign me up. very very good & bonus: art!! the best.
Jellzu’s Faves
knocked me off the ground byWindmire
“It’s Jason Todd you’d be working with. You remember Jason, right?”
“He’s probably hoping you remember him.”
For his best friend’s wedding, Dick’s more than willing to double as best man and co-wedding planner, even if it means going back to the city he’s been avoiding for years on end. Then he meets the other best man and co-wedding planner and falling so hard and so fast was so not part of the plan.
For what it’s worth: This had me cackling. Dick sees a hot guy, has to work with hot guy for best friends wedding. Oh and, apparently he knows this hot guy but doesn’t remember and said guy sure does remember him? Well then, let the awkwardness ensue.
Two Worlds byxserenity
Dick thought it was just a dream, a weird dream but apparently it wasn’t. He found himself stuck in a reality where he wasn’t dating Jason Todd. Instead, he was dating some girl he didn’t know.
And he hated the fact.
For what it’s worth: I always love the fics where either Dick or Jason are transported to another universe where they aren’t dating each other. It’s angst and fluff mixed together but at the same time, amusing because then they always try to get their counterparts to date. Ah, my heart.
we will wear our masks again out after dark byIMightwing
Dick paused and looked straight at Jason. “I want you to be Batman until I’m healed.”
“No,” Jason said. No way in hell, he wanted to say, but the quicker he got this over with, the better.
For what it’s worth: A theory: Jason will do what Dick asks of him just because of the fact that _Dick is asking him to do him a favor_. He didn’t plan it, but here he is, in the batcave, covering for Dick Grayson… Great.
Hurricane bykeykiyoshi7443
The high school AU where Jason and Dick star in a musical that no one really wanted.
For what it’s worth: No matter what, high school AUs are one of the best. Especially when it has Jason doing the cellblock tango. This needs to be an animatic. (That may or may not be in the works. i just can’t help myself) But IT’S THE CELLLBLOCK TANGO. Come on people, it’s pure.

Legend pt. 2
Author’s note: Sorry about the long wait for this one. I got a bit stumped for a while, but it’s finally finished and I hope you enjoy the end result. Thanks for all your support, and as always, love you guys. Stay awesome.
From Bruce’s POV
WAYNE MANOR
THE NEXT MORNING
John let out an astonished gasp upon entering the manor, his jaw dropping open as he viewed the inside with an amazed expression.
“Wow, Bruce!” He exclaimed as he observed the chandeliers hanging above, craning his neck backwards. “I knew you were rich, but...but this...!”
John spread his arms out and twirled around like a top, laughing vigorously to himself.
“This is...INCREDIBLE! Hehehe!”
I smiled gently at the man, adoring his eccentric display of joy from a distance while he explored his new home.
With the Agency and police constantly trying to arrest John, I agreed to let the man live with me for a while in hopes of protecting him. It was too risky to leave him alone during these times, and the last thing I wanted was for someone to catch him while I wasn’t looking.
Aside from Alfred, John was all I had left. He was my closest friend, my partner in fighting crime, and one of the few people I knew I could trust for sure. He had been with me through thick and thin, and always had my back no matter what. I needed him by my side.
If Waller or anyone else wanted to take him away from me, they were going to have to put up a fight. And a damned good one.
“I’m glad you like the house, John,” I said, strolling up to him. “As much as I appreciate the solitude, I have to admit it does get lonely here sometimes. It’ll be nice having you around.”
John put a dramatic hand over his heart and wiped away a fake tear, tilting his head at me in a touched manner.
“You are truly the kindest man I’ve ever met, Brucie. I might just shed a tear.”
I grinned at that, slipping my hands into my pockets. “You’d be the first to say that in a while. I’ve almost forgotten the days when Gotham didn’t hate the Waynes. So, any idea where you want to sleep?”
The clown shrugged, slightly confused. “Um...in the bedroom...?”
A chuckle escaped me. “Well, yes, but which one? There are seven of them.”
John’s eyes popped open. “You have seven bedrooms?”
“Yeah,” I confirmed, “along with two kitchens, a library, a gymnasium, a basketball court, and a movie theater. And there’s obviously also the Batcave.”
The other man clapped happily and rubbed his hands together out of excitement, unable to contain himself.
“This is unreal, Bruce. It’s like I’m in paradise. I went from living in an abandoned subway station...to the fanciest manor in Gotham! Ah, it’s so nice having all this...space! Not to mention that Bane and Harley aren’t here to argue about nonsense all day long. We have to arrange a move night sometime! Tell me, are you more of a beef jerky or corn bites guy?” John shrugged. “Ah heck, I’ll just bring both! Hehe!”
“Just be sure to keep a low profile,” I reminded him. “The Agency can’t know you’re here. Otherwise, they’ll tear the place apart brick-by-brick, and take you back to Arkham. Or worse -- slap a collar on you like the rest of the Pact. If you ever want to leave the house, there’s a another exit through the Batcave that will draw much less attention than the front door. And try not to go out by yourself, got it? I wanna make sure you’re safe.”
John nodded, giving me a thumbs-up. “Got it!”
“Great. Now, why don’t you go set up your room?”
He smirked at me, picking up his bags. “Oh, I’ve been so excited for this moment, Brucie! Decorating my own room in Wayne Manor,” John sighed in satisfaction. “This is a dream come true. You and I -- we are gonna have so...much...fun!”
Hurrying up the elegant staircase with his belongings, John practically glided to his room as Alfred passed him on the way down, giving the clown a subtle gesture of acknowledgement before making his way to me.
Despite the smile on the butler’s face and his straightened posture, I could still tell something wasn’t quite right, and as soon as John’s echoing cackle disappeared down the corridor, the old man broke his charade, voicing his concerns.
“I mean no disrespect towards your friend, Bruce,” he said lowly, “but are you sure it’s a good idea to have him stay here?”
Alfred and I wandered over to a more secluded corner of the manor, hoping to keep out of earshot while I explained the situation to him.
“I can’t just let John roam around Gotham by himself, Al. He’s not exactly the type of person to lay low, and the Agency’s been keeping an extremely close eye on him lately. One wrong move, and he’ll be behind bars. I have to watch him.”
The butler didn’t appear convinced.
“...Well, perhaps that’s not such a bad thing,” he argued. “I know you care for him, but in the end, John is a criminal. And he must be brought to justice. We can’t ignore that, Bruce. Batman can’t.”
I paused for a moment, unable to deny that Alfred had a point.
Crossing my arms, I checked to make sure John was still out of sight.
“Look, I know John’s made mistakes--”
“--He’s murdered people.” Alfred corrected.
“--But...” I continued, “I don’t think he’s beyond saving. Not yet, anyways. You said it yourself, Alfred. He’s my friend. I can’t just give up on him and toss him in jail. He’s...he’s all I have left. I mean, Tiffany’s with the Agency, Lucius is gone, and now Waller’s threatening to take John away, too. I have to at least try to help him.”
Realizing that there was no way he was going to sway my mind, Alfred let out a defeated sigh and dropped the subject, evidently anxious about what would come in the future.
“...Very well, sir. I trust your decision, but please...proceed with caution. Soon, the time will come when you must choose which is more important: your friendship with John, or your duty as Batman -- and I don’t want your judgement to be hindered.”
I gave him an assuring nod, heading upstairs to check on my friend.
“Don’t worry, Alfred. As much as I care about John, I’m not blind. If I think he’s fallen beyond repair, Batman will be the first one to step in. But he’ll be brought to justice the right way. I won’t let Waller lay a finger on him, no matter what happens.”
From Oswald’s POV
THE STACKED DECK
“The hunt for the Joker continues,” Jack Ryder reported, his voice barely audible over the rock music filling up the bar, “and the police are desperate to find any leads that could help them find the perpetrator. Fortunately for Gotham, the Joker seems to have gone underground recently and has even ‘vanished’ according to some. In the past few days, there have been no reports of any Joker-related crimes, and the green-haired clown hasn’t been spotted by anyone. Normally, a moment of peace such as this would be appreciated, but one can’t help wondering if the reason the Joker has disappeared...is he’s planning something bigger. But of course, we will keep all you viewers out there informed with any updates. I’m Jack Ryder, and you’re watching Gotham TV.”
I softly chuckled at the news and glanced downwards at my beer bottle, happily taking a sip as I watched the chaos unravel in Gotham’s news. At this point, I wasn’t even upset by all the mayhem slowly tearing down this city, and a part of me was even thrilled.
I had learned enough about Gotham to know that its citizens were far from innocent, and the ones who were died ages ago. The only people who survived in this godforsaken place were men in suits, and those controlling them from the shadows. As far as I was concerned, Joker’s hell-raising rampage was nothing but some well-earned karma, and I couldn’t help but laugh. I only hoped that karma also hit Bruce Wayne.
I was still having difficulty imagining that billionaire pretty boy as Batman. Not only did the two of them act nothing alike, but they were also on complete opposite ends of the spectrum.
The Waynes hurt people; killed them, even. Anyone who was brave enough to oppose them got murdered or thrown in Arkham by Thomas...and yet, his son grew up to become a vigilante. Someone who fought against people like his father. Why?
Maybe this was Bruce’s way of making amends? Maybe he knew the truth about his dear, old dad all along, and wore the mask so he could do more good for the world without risking his reputation. Like he did when Joseph bullied me as a kid.
Pft. I didn’t know whether to admire or condemn him.
All I did know...was that I had to kill him. And quickly.
Ordering another drink, I suddenly sensed a presence walking up behind me as the bartender waltzed off, causing me to glance over my shoulder.
Standing not too far away from me, there was a young woman dressed in a neat, grey blazer and high heels, and her brown hair had been tied into an elegant bun. She was equipped with an advanced pistol that hid just beneath her jacket, and in her hand, she held a clipboard. I guessed this woman must’ve been with the Agency. She had that...look.
“So you’re released from prison after an entire year on the inside,” she said, “...and this is the first place you visit? I...guess I see the appeal.”
I paid no mind to her comment.
“I was in Blackgate for quite a while, love. I’d say I deserve a drink.”
The woman stepped closer. “Just make sure you don’t overdo it. I need your senses to be alert.”
Putting the beer down for a moment, I gave her an irritated glare and casually stood up from my chair, approaching the agent.
“And just who the hell are you?” I questioned. “I’m working on assassinating Gotham’s favorite vigilante for you people, yet your lips remain tighter than the security at Blackgate. Can I get a code name, at the very least?”
Surprisingly, the woman reacted in a more-than-friendly manner and held out her hand, smiling warmly at me.
“Agent Iman Avesta,” she introduced. “You met my partner yesterday. Vernon Blake.”
I didn’t return the handshake, and went back to my stool.
“You can call me Oz,” I replied, “but I assume you know that already. The Agency seems to know a lot ‘bout me. So, what, you here to keep an eye on me?”
Avesta took a seat next to me. “Something like that. Waller just wants to make sure you don’t do anything too...rash. I’m sure you understand.”
I quirked a brow. “If she don’t trust me, then why’d she hire me to do the job?”
“Waller has absolute confidence in your skills,” the agent explained, “but that’s the extent of her trust. Not that I blame her. After all, you were associated with the Children of Arkham. It’d be foolish to let you act alone. It’s nothing personal, of course. The Director watches all her ‘allies’ very closely.”
I scoffed. “You mean like the Pact? I know they’re working for her.”
Avesta seemed impressed. “Well, well. Looks like we’re not the only ones who are good at learning secrets. Waller made a good choice, hiring you for the job. I look forward to accompanying you.”
Finishing my drink, I placed the empty bottle aside and turned to the agent.
“...And how exactly does Waller want me to approach this mission?” I asked. “Any rules I should know about? Any lines I can’t cross?”
Avesta shook her head. “Aside from deserting the mission itself, no. The Director has granted you full permission to do anything it takes to kill Batman. And she means anything.”
Slightly nodding in approval, I separated myself from the bar and prepared to leave, Avesta tagging along with me as we strolled outside.
“Well, all right then. If that’s the case, I think I know just what to do for our first step. But I’m gonna need your help finding someone.”
She appeared intrigued. “Oh, really? And who would that be?”
I smirked, eager to get down to business.
“...Ever heard of a man named Joseph Hunt?”

DC/Marvel Crossover
Prompt: How about one where batsis goes on a solo mission and the avengers arrested her because they didn't know who she was and bat fam gets worried because she hasn't been back and Bruce sends Tim to get her
“You’re telling me that you want to break into Avengers Tower and … what? Download all of the information on the Avengers?”
Bruce nods, “That’s exactly what I want you to do. They have too many people on that team that could one day try and take over the world, I need to know how to stop them.”
“And how am I supposed to get into a building that houses a god, two super soldiers now, a Hulk, two assassins, and a genius? That’s not even including their handler, Phil, who I have met and have a deep respect for”
“I’m sure you’ll figure it out” Bruce lays a hand over your shoulder before making his way to the Batmobile, “I need those files, Y/N. I’m depending on you for this. Stark would expect me to go after the files, he won’t expect you. There’s a gala in one week that I am invited to, that would be the best time to strike, all of the Avengers are going to be in attendance.”
“Fine, I’ll start planning now”
--
Getting into Avengers Tower is surprisingly easy. There aren’t any assassins, or even that many security guards in the building. It isn’t until you’ve already gotten thought the servers firewall and are halfway finished uploading the Avengers files that you notice something is wrong.
Those files do not belong to you.
You let out a shriek (that you’ll deny later) when a voice starts talking from the ceiling. “What the fuck!?”
You have not been authorized by Sir to access these files.
“Who are you?”
I am JARVIS, I am the artificial intelligence that runs Avengers Tower. I have already scanned you, you are not a SHIELD agent, nor are you an employee of SI.
“And you’re just now confronting me? If you control the whole building why didn’t you stop me sooner?”
I was curious as to your goal
It sounds like the AI is amused, of course Stark would make an AI with an attitude. “And now that you know what I’m doing, what are you going to do?”
I have intercepted the file uploads and blocked them. I have also shut down the room you are currently in, have locked it, and informed Sir of your presence.
“Of fucking course you did”
You will not have to wait long, miss. The Avengers are on their way now.
--
Natasha Romanoff is the first one to reach you, and when she starts to tie your hands behind your back you don’t even try and stop her. You might be a vigilante in Gotham, but unlike your brothers and father, you know when you’re outmatched. So instead of further injuring yourself, you quietly submit to being tied up and gagged.
“JARVIS, who is she?”
I am currently running a facial recognition scan now, Agent Romanoff
“Good, I’m going to take her to Interrogation Room 3. Tell the others to meet us there”
Of course.
Natasha marches you down several flights of stairs, and through a steel door to an interrogation room.
“I’m going to take off the gag now, and you’re going to answer my questions. Understand?” The gag is quickly pulled off. “Now who are you?”
“It’s an honor to meet you, Ms. Romanoff. I’ve always looked up to you, you know? I mean you survived the Red Room, the Soviets, even the Winter Soldier. And what happened in Budapest! You and Mr. Barton were amazing there! I didn’t think you guys were gonna come out alive …”
A knife presses against your throat, leaving a shallow cut, “How do you know about any of that? Who sent you here? Who the hell are you?”
The door slams open, “Agent Romanoff! Put that away, and untie her”
“Sir …?”
“Now, Agent Romanoff”
The knife quickly pulls away from your throat, a thin trickle of blood left in its place, but you don’t pay much attention to it. Instead you twist around and throw a grin at the older man, “Hey, Phil, it’s been a while”
“Ms. Wayne, I can’t say that I am glad to see you. According to the report JARVIS gave me, you were attempting to upload the personal files for all of the Avengers. I assume that your father was the one to send you?”
“Yeah, Dad said something about needing to have a plan for if anyone here went evil, he wants to know how to kill them. You know my father likes his plans”
“Unfortunately, I won’t be able to get you out of this mess. The transgression did not happen on SHIELD soil. The Avengers will decide what they want to do with you”
“So … I get to meet everyone?”
Phil lets out a chuckle, “Yes, you will be able to meet the rest of the Avengers, however these aren’t the best circumstances to meet them under.”
“You really think dad would let me meet them any other way? This is probably the only time I’m gonna get to meet the Winter Soldier”
“The other Avengers won’t be happy with what you did. It was a complete violation of their privacy. Even if I put in a good word for you, I don’t know if they will listen to me”
“It’s fine. Even if they decide to torture me, I’ll be alright. I mean I’ve probably had worse from the Joker and from the al Ghul’s.”
Before Phil can answer, the door once again opens and Tony Stark steps through, “You can hold off on that facial recognition scan, JARVIS. I know who this is”
“Hello, Tony!”
“Hello, Y/N” He spins the chair around and plops down on it, straddling the back of it, “I can’t say I’m happy to see you though”
“I know, I hate that I had to do this, but you know my father, he’s not someone you say no to”
“Natasha, will you untie her?”
“Not until you tell me who she is, and what we are going to do with her” Natasha crosses her arms, knife still help tightly in one hand. “All I’ve gathered is that both you and Phil know who she is, and that she was attempting to steal our personal files.”
“Sorry, I forgot to introduce myself! My name is Y/N Wayne.”
Phil sighs quietly, “She is also known as the Sparrow, the one who managed to get Red Hood to stop unnecessarily killing, she is also SHIELDs contact in Gotham, and she is the liaison between SHIELD and the JLA”
“How have I never met her then?”
“It was considered a conflict of interest for me to meet the Avengers because I am already in the JLA. Of course, my father doesn’t give a damn that I’ve possibly just ruined the relationship between SHIELD and the JLA, all he cares about is being able to stop you if any of you decide to go homicidal.”
“He thinks that he’ll be able to stop any of us?”
You shrug as much as you can with your arms still bound, “No idea, I don’t try to understand his way of thinking. Phil,” You tilt back, trying to make eye contact with the agent, “You know he’s going to send one of my brothers after me. I don’t want them hurt”
“I’ll warn everyone, don’t worry. Now, Natasha, if you’ll untie Y/N and bring her to the common room. We can await the arrival of one of Y/N’s brothers there. In the meantime, you all can ask her any questions you’d like”
--
“So you’re telling me that Bruce Wayne is Batman, one of your brothers has come back from the dead, you aren’t allowed to kill any of the villains that have taken hundreds of lives, and that you were once a part of the League of Assassins. Am I missing anything?”
“Yeah, I once stopped Superman and Superboy when they were mind controlled, and I work as Lex Luthor’s assistant and help him curb his homicidal tendencies … I’ve also time travelled before”
Steve Rogers puts his head in his hands, “Of course you have. Is there anything else?”
“Nope” You glance around the common room, locking eyes with Bruce Banner, “Can you turn into the Hulk? I’d really like to see him again.”
“Again?”
“I met him once, about a year after you left America, he saved my life. I had just blown up one of the League of Assassins compounds and didn’t get out in time, I was trapped under rubble. I had accepted the fact that I was going to die there when a huge green hand smashed through the rubble and dragged me out. Hulk left before I could even say thank you”
“I don’t remember that”
You flash a brief smile, “I’m not surprised, I did some research on you after that. You don’t remember 85% of what happens when you’re the Hulk, right?”
“Yes, that’s correct, how did you …?”
“I have a lot of connections, Dr. Banner. Who do you think was the one that got General Ross to leave you alone once you came back to America?”
Bruce’s eyes go wide, “You … you … how?”
“I have some friends in high places that owed me a favor or two, they cracked down hard on Ross, forced him to stop hunting you. SHIELD tried to get him to stop, but even though they’re a top secret government organization they didn’t have enough leverage to get thing’s done”
It takes Bruce a minute or two to speak after that, “Thank you, that means a lot that you’d do something like that”
“He saved my life, it’s the least I could do”
--
“So, Phil, how do you know Y/N?” Clint drops down from the vent opening, perching on the arm of the couch.
“Phil and I met while he was in Tahiti, after the Chitauri invasion.”
“Why were you in Tahiti?”
“I was captured by the al Ghul’s and tortured for 4 months. By the time my family found me I was almost dead. SHILED sent me there to heal, like they did with Phil. We’ve run into each other a few times after that, but that was where we met”
Phil rolls his eyes, “Y/N refused to stay in her hospital room and constantly snuck into mine while we healed. I wasn’t allowed out of bed for several weeks, and every day Y/N would limp into my room to keep me company”
“Phil’s someone I consider a good friend now”
Clint sticks his bottom lip out, pouting at his handler, “How come I never heard of her? We could have been BirdBros!”
“I’ve been begging Phil for years to let me meet you guys, but he kept saying that it was a ‘conflict of interest’ but I just think that he didn’t want to deal with the paperwork”
Phil raised one eyebrow, “Unfortunately it seems that I wasn’t able to keep you two apart, and now I dread the mayhem that you will cause.”
“Mayhem will have to wait until after my brother’s inevitable rescue attempt”
--
Surprisingly it’s Tim that was sent to rescue you. The Avengers had put you back into the interrogation room, and were all watching from the control room.
“Hey, Red. I thought you were off with the Titans this week.”
“B called me in, said that you needed to be rescued, and some files needed to be retrieved”
“I’m sorry, babybird, but we won’t be getting those files today”
Tim smirks, “They don’t even know I’m here …”
The speaker crackles to life, “Unfortunately, kid, we do know you’re here and your sister’s right, you won’t be getting access to those files tonight”
“Sorry, Red, they kinda set up a trap to catch all of us birds. They knew that someone would come for me, and now someone will come for the both of us.”
Tim sighs, “Do we have to stay in this room the whole time?”
The door opens and Tony steps in, “Of course you won’t. It’s team bonding night, so movies and snacks. I’ll even let you call your other brothers so they can get in on the action.”
“We’re going to have a sleepover with the Avengers?”
You chuckle, “It looks like it, babybird, it looks like it”

Jason Todd/Red Hood X ArkhamKnight!Reader- Set Your Demons Free (Part 5)
Warning: Mentions of torture, descriptions of fighting, guns, swearing, etc.
Set Your Demons Free, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4
Tumblr media
The Cloudburst was finally released.  The criminals affected by Crane’s toxin could be seen tearing each other apart on the streets.  You had successfully completed one of the major parts of your plan, but you still had to be cautious.  Poison Ivy was using her abilities to remove the toxin from the air, but you would do your worst to prevent Batman from winning.
Make him pay, (Y/N), make him pay for throwing your life away and ending Jason’s.  Batman replaced you, tossing you aside to get the newer model!
You wouldn’t let him win, you wouldn’t let him ruin your life once again.  Deathstroke had provided almost everything you needed to complete the rest of your plan, but what you needed right now was the drill.  It was a very expensive piece of machinery, but it was necessary to deal with Batman.  Swinging the keys around your finger as you walked towards the drill, you climbed into the cockpit and shut the door.  Placing the keys in the ignition, you started the machine and located where the Batmobile was on your mask screen.  It was simple really, Batman may think that he’s untouchable, untraceable, but you knew every little secret that he kept away from the rest of the villains that went up against him.  Villain, you scoffed at the word.  There were no heroes or villains in the world, there are differing points of view that are either rejected or accepted by society.
“Knight,” Crane said through a secured comm, “have you dealt with Batman’s current interest in plants?”
“I’m in the drill now,” you answered, halting the drill’s movement.  “I have two minutes until Batman reaches the location.”
“Good,” he stated.  “I will contact you when you are needed, Knight.”
“Knight out,” you said, ending the conversation.
Watching the red dot moving steadily towards your location, you gripped onto the controls and waited for him to arrive.  As soon as the dot went past your position, you made the drill go up, breaking through the concrete.
“I did ask if it came in black, but then I thought, you’d just get all jealous.  Plus, the paint job was a little over budget.”  Flipping a few switches above you and activating the drills.  “You didn’t think I was gone, did you?  No, you knew better.  You get knocked down, you pick yourself up again.  See, I learned that from an old friend,” you spat, surging forward.
Batman quickly turned the Batmobile around, speeding away from you through the tunnel while avoiding road block and hitting construction signs.  You continued to shred through them until the drill met with explosives, forcing you to stop.  Grunting, you watched as rocks crumbled in front of you and blocked your vision.  Screaming in frustration, you flipped and pressed numerous controls, not allowing yourself to be beaten.
“You can’t stop me!  You’re going to die down here, forgotten,” you hissed, redirecting your vehicle until it drilled into the tunnel.
Surging forward when you saw the Batmobile, you tore through the rocks and concrete around you, “Stop running and fight me!”  Shouting in frustration once again, you forced the vehicle to go forward, not giving Batman the chance to leave without losing something.  “No way out,” you shouted, cornering him.  “I did it, done what no one else could.  All these years, all your enemies, but none of them understands you like I do.  You think Crane found Oracle on his own?  I’m the one who told him about Barbara.  Me!  I told you I knew everything about you, didn’t I?  Don’t worry, Bruce, I kept some secrets to myself.”
You rushed the drill further into the corner, barely missing Batman as you crushed his precious Batmobile.  Pulling back, you watched as the pieces scrambled onto the floor before leaving Batman to run like the coward he was.  Next time, you thought, next time I’ll end you.
-----------------------------
Watching as Batman took down your men one by one, you waited silently for your final chance to end him.  Gordon was the perfect bait, drawing Batman in like an insect to a light.  Of course he would agree to do anything to save his daughter, even kill the man he had worked with for years.  Just as your last man was defeated, you jumped down from the rafters, aiming your gun at Batman’s head.
“Turn around,” you ordered, watching as he backed away from Gordon, “now.”
“Who are you?” he asked, turning to face you.
“You really have no idea, do you, Bruce?” you questioned him, opening your mask to reveal your scarred face.
“(Y/N)?  But…. you’re dead,” he stated, obviously shocked.
“What’s the matter?  Lost for words?  I expected more… I’m hurt,” you seethed, walking closer to him.  “I thought coming back from the dead would be more dramatic.”
“Joker sent me the film…. I saw him kill you,” he claimed, making you scoff.
“Don’t you dare lie to me!” you screamed, “How long did it take you to kill Jason?  How long did you wait before replacing us?  A month?  A week?  I trusted you…. And you just left me to die!”
“That’s not what happened,” he insisted, not making a move to fight you yet.
“You always told me, Bruce… focus on what I want to achieve… and it’ll happen.  Well, you want to know what I want now, huh?” you asked, shoving your gun against his chin.  “I want you dead.”
Bruce headbutted your mask, making you stagger back.  Growling, you pulled out your guns and fired.  Looking around, you searched for him, but you knew he was hiding, waiting to take you down.
“You can’t hide from me! I will hunt you down!” you yelled, combining your two guns into a sniper and removed the shattered part of your helmet.  “Five goddamn years I have waited, and now you’re going to pay!”
Pressing the switch, your helmet hid your face once again, but with a vibrant black mask.  Grasping your grappling gun, you took a sniping position and searched for Bruce, ready to finally kill the man who did this to you.
“It was all about you, what Joker did.  He ruined me to spite you!” you shouted, firing a few rounds in his direction.  “Just because I was a pawn in your little game!”
When you lost him, he grappled up to you and grabbed your gun, “(Y/N), I can help you!”
Oh, look! There’s Batman now! Ha! I got you there, didn’t I.  I told you, (Y/N), he’s not coming anytime soon.  Think about that, let it stew inside you until you realize that your Batman used you until you were no longer needed.
“There’s no helping me!” you roared, firing the sniper and falling off of the ledge, disappearing into the next room under the smoke bomb you used.
Searching the new room, you watched cautiously as your men were taken down one by one.  Growling, you were able to get a few shots on him before he disappeared once again.
“I was just a kid, grieving for the loss of my father!” you screamed, firing more times at him.  “You turned me into a soldier, sent me to war!”
“Joker got to you!” Bruce shouted after he grappled in front of you, “I know what it’s like!”
You wouldn’t believe who I saw today!  Good ol’ Batsy was prancing around with your replacement.  He is an ugly one for sure, who shaves their head like that?
“Don’t pretend to understand!” you screamed, activating another smoke screen to escape into the next room.  “You’re no hero. No savier.  You failed me, and now you’re gonna fail Gotham the same way!”
Before you could shoot him, he grappled to your position once again, pushing the gun flat against your chest, “Stand down, (Y/H/N)!”
Since he hasn’t come here to save you yet, I’ve been thinking about this for so long.  Just imagine it!  The Joker and (Y/N) prancing around Gotham, causing so much discord and mayhem!  I know, it still has to go through the editing process, but it’s a pretty good start!
“Don’t call me that!  That’s not who I am!”  you said while headbutting him, flipping over him and disappearing under another smokescreen.  “I’m not afraid of you, Bruce.  You’re not a legend to me!”
Without any warning, Bruce shot up to your position and knocked the gun from your hands.  You went to punch him, but he beat you to it, forcing you against the wall.  As you were recovering, he pushed you against it, tearing the Arkham symbol, your symbol, from your chest.
“You’re (Y/H/N), (Y/N).  You’re not what he made you!”
Do you really think he cared for you?  Nightwing was lucky to escape him, but you and Jason couldn’t.  Well, Jason used the afterlife to escape him, and you’re with me now!  You belong to me! Mine, mine, mine, mine!
You forced him away from you, “Stop!  Stop talking to me!”
Tackling him off of the platform, you landed on your back, your helmet malfunctioning and covered in cracks.  Bruce climbed over you, raising a fist, but hesitated.  He stood up, taking a few steps away from you.
“You did this to me!” you wailed, barely able to push yourself off from the ground.
“I’m sorry,” he apologized.
“You left me to rot in that abandoned wing of Arkham… for over a year.. with him,” you whimpered and aimed your pistol at him, your finger itching to pull the trigger.  “Endless physical and mental torture for over a year, and where were you?”
“It’s not too late,  We can fix this…. Together,” Bruce stated, holding out him hand.
Letting the gun drop from your hand, you looked down, not able to accept his offer, “I can’t.”  Tears fell from your eyes as he walked away, contacting Alfred.
“Alfred, it’s… I’ve found (Y/N).”
Looking up, you watched as Alfred appeared on the screen.  He was the one who took you under his wing, the one who made you feel loved again.  Unable to let him see you like this, you left.  Once you ran out of the building, you grappled away, unable to stop the tears from falling.  You failed, you failed doing the one task that had been the reason you were still alive, the reason why Joker tortured you.  Knowing this, you couldn’t face Crane.  He would kill you, make you experience the fears you tried to shove in the back of your head. Stumbling onto a building’s roof, you collapsed and tore your broken mask off, finally letting yourself cry after five years.

Your reactions to this story will definitely reach her though!
Additional Author’s Note: This is written in both the Reader’s and Bruce Wayne’s POV. Bruce’s pov uses the “you” perspective as well.

PART ONE
Your POV:
You had been listening to the clown and this other man go back and forth in conversation. The man holding the Joker’s attention was tall and broad-shouldered. He was wearing a dark pair of dress pants with a white button up shirt with a vest over it and a red tie tucked into the vest. He looked very “business-y” to you. He had a deep voice that was calm as he talked. You noticed a gash on his nose that had been bleeding, yet everything else about him seemed only slightly disheveled for having just been in a car accident. He had dark black hair that was in a short executive cut hairstyle. He exuded this aura of authority and strength. You wanted to run to him. He was the only thing in sight that truly seemed safe.
You were lost in focusing on this man when the Joker’s tone of voice got very harsh. It scares you back into the moment of what’s going on. You’re arm is still radiating pain, but there’s too much adrenaline in your little body to really acknowledge it. That’s when you hear it.
“The girl’s parents are dead! They died in the crash!” His words just echo in your ears. You go numb. Your parents were gone and the man responsible for it had you by the arm and was threatening your life now. What were you supposed to do? You just stood there limp, but still standing due to the tight grip on your injured arm. It’s only when he violently jerks you that you come back to his words and his face.
You’re looking up at him and then your looking at the man who had been called Bruce. You hear the Joker saying he’s going to throw you off the bridge on the bet that the Batman is going to save you. This man was ready to gamble your life on a whim with no collateral.
Panic surges over you as you realize you’ve been tossed off the edge of the bridge and all of a sudden everything is in slow motion again.
You are just beginning to go over the edge and fall when you see the dark-haired man has run and leapt after you, going over the edge of the bridge as well.
He just barely manages to catch you in his arms, you wrap your arms around his neck and hold on for dear life and while you’re still both falling in your slow motion world. You notice he sees the snapped cable of the bridge and is able to grab hold of it.
Time is catching up again as his grip on the cable slides until it becomes firm and you’ve stopped falling. Now you two are just dangling 600 feet over frigid water.
You have a vice grip on this man as you’re clinging to him. He’s got one arm holding onto the cable and one arm firmly wrapped around you.
You have your face buried into his neck, when you hear the calm voice, “I’ve got you, it’s gonna be okay. Look at me.”
You slowly lift your head to look at the man and he can see the fear in your eyes.
“What’s your name?”
“Y/N,” you answer softly.
“Y/N, I like it. My name is Bruce. Y/N, I’m gonna get us out of here okay,” he speaks so calmly for the predicament you both are currently in. “I’m gonna climb this cable and get us back up there okay? But, I need both my arms to get us there, so I need you to be super brave and strong and to hold onto me as tight as you possibly can. Can you do that for me?”
You quietly nod your head as you adjust your grip on him to the point where you have a fistful of his shirt in each hand. You nod to him that you’re ready and he slowly unwraps his arm from around you and you feel your body-weight and your life depending solely on your grasp around Bruce’s neck.
He begins to climb the cable when you hear a small hum coming from the earpiece in his ear. Meanwhile all you can think to yourself is don’t let go, don’t let go, don’t let go.
Bruce’s POV:
“Two minutes out. Hanging in there, sir.” Alfred had been watching the news while the video streamed from the helicopters and saw the whole ordeal unfold. He was now watching you climb the broken cable with the little girl clinging to you.
You could hear the Batplane getting closer. You knew the hum of the engines and could tell it apart from the helicopters whirring above you.
You were determined to get to the bridge as fast as you could. When you had caught Y/N and made sure she had a good grip on you for the climb, you noticed her left forearm had been slightly deformed. You guessed it was a broken bone from the car crash. Despite the break and a good gash on her face near her left eyebrow, she seemed physically ok.
You could feel her small hands holding onto your shirt and you knew that with an injured arm, she wouldn’t be able to hold on for long. You kept climbing.
Joker had been satisfied with himself when he had tossed Y/N over. But he wasn’t expecting Bruce Wayne to follow over after her. He merely thought of it as a bonus.
While the Joker was completely unaware of his failed attempt, he was making a good show for the news cameras. He had packed the semi-truck with little toys for him to play with while he waited for the Batman.
He had a bat in one hand to smash in car windows and a Molotov cocktail in the other. He had been throwing the incendiary devices into abandoned vehicles on the bridge to create blasts and balls of flames. He was drawing a lot of attention to himself.
He was giggling away, until he saw Bruce Wayne and the little girl he thought he had thrown overboard climbing back onto the bridge.
Your arms were tired and shaking and you could tell Y/N’s were too. You pulled yourself onto the bridge while helping her onto the solid ground, making sure she was ok. You were sitting for a moment when you saw the Joker notice you two.
You quickly stood up and lifted the small girl into your arms again and ran for cover behind a car. You made it your mission to keep this girl as far away from the edge of the bridge as possible. You were determined to keep her safe and it seemed she was determined to stay attached to you with the grip she had on you again.
The Joker was chasing after you guys with his bat in hand. He had snuck around the car you were hiding behind. He brought the bat up, ready to strike at you and Y/N. You had enormous amounts of adrenaline flowing through you and instinctively, you put your left arm up to shield both yourself and the little girl. The bat came down with enough force to break the bone and knock you down. You were trying to get through the pain when you noticed that Y/N hadn’t left your side to go hide, she was sitting next to you with terror on her face as it looked like the Joker was about the bring the bat down a second time.
But then all of a sudden you see the Joker getting lifted off the bridge by a cable. Both you and Y/N had watched this happen in slow motion before you realized it was the Batplane harnessing the Joker and carrying him away. It had whisked him off the bridge before anything else could happen.
Alfred is in you ear a second later saying, “That was rather close, sir. I’ve got the Batplane on autopilot to take the Joker to Arkham where they are waiting for him. In the meantime, sir, I suggest you and that little girl go to the hospital and get fixed up.”
You put your finger to the earpiece, “Thank you, Alfred.”
You look down at Y/N and see a moment of relief cross her face. You pick her back up and you start to walk towards the ambulances that were treating people further back from the main wreck on the bridge.
Once you get to the paramedics, they try to take Y/N from your arms, but she won’t let go. All you hear her say is, “I don’t wanna go with them. I wanna stay with you.”
You tell the paramedics that you will go to the hospital with her and both get treated together and that seems to make her happy. Though she still won’t let go of you, you climb into the back of the ambulance and head off to the hospital.
Your POV:
You didn’t want to let go of him because he was safe. After you saw the Joker get carried off, you relaxed only for a moment until you realized what had really just happened. You were now all alone in this big world, what was going to happen to you. It was all you could think about.
Bruce was the only thing keeping you grounded at the moment. He kept you in a soft embrace in his arms to comfort you. You began to wonder if he realized the depth of the situation. When he called you Squeaker, as a nickname because of the sound you made whenever the ambulance hit a bump, you knew you were attached to him and it worried you that you might not find it again further on down the road.
Once you got to the hospital you were in a world of pain. All the adrenaline had worn off and you felt your broken arm take over and the painful gash on your head you hadn’t noticed before, started to sting like crazy.
You were concerned that if you let go of Bruce that you wouldn’t see him again and you didn’t like the thought of that. In your mind, he was the only person left who cared about you enough to make sure you were going to be okay.
He checked you into the emergency room, told the doctors he would cover all your medical bills and that he wanted the best care for you before they got started on his arm.
You had to go into surgery for them to fix your arm and you remember hearing Bruce say, “I’ll be there when you wake up, Squeaker,” just as you were falling asleep under the anesthesia.
Bruce’s POV:
You were concerned for Y/N. She had just been through an extremely traumatic experience and she had lost her parents. You could empathize with her due to your own experience.
Alfred met you at the hospital once he had taken care of the Joker.  “Master Bruce, I suggest you get your arm looked at as well. It seems to also be broken.”
You looked at Alfred with a solemn face, “Alfred, she’s all alone now. What’s going to happen to her?”
Alfred was seemingly taken aback by your concern for the child; he had never seen you care for someone like that, let alone a child. “I know a police officer who can make sure she’ll be okay,” suggested Alfred.
You looked at your butler, “What’s his name? Have him come to the hospital at once. I want to talk to him and make sure it’s done right.”
“His name is Jim Gordon, sir.”
You remembered the name. He was the officer that had taken care of you when your parents had been killed. He was a good man and an honest cop that you knew you could trust. “Have him here in an hour, Alfred.”
“Yes, sir. In the meantime, you should get you arm looked at.”
“I will.”
You had gotten x-rays of your arm and it was broken from being hit by the Joker’s bat. You would be in a hard cast for six weeks. You also got the gash on your nose stitched up and it had begun to bruise. You had some minor scrapes on your hands from the bridge cable, but other than that, you were no worse for wear.
You had just finished up with your doctor when Jim Gordon walked in. He was an honest looking man. He wore thick-framed glasses and sported a manly mustache that fit him well. He had kind eyes and a small accent that came out when he was stressed or tired. He was a detective on the Gotham City Police Force so he wore civilian clothes instead of a uniform, but you could still see his badge and gun on his hip, beneath his jacket.
Jim had carried a file in with him. “Mr. Wayne, it’s nice to see you in one piece.”
“Thanks Gordon. It was quite an afternoon, I’ll tell you that much,” you let out a rather large sigh with the statement, you were exhausted. “I wanted to talk to you about the little girl the Joker was holding hostage. Her name is Y/N.”
Gordon nodded in understanding, “Yeah, I have a whole file with me on everything that happened. It looks like she’s originally from Gotham; parents were modest people. Her dad was computer tech for your company actually Mr. Wayne. Her mom stayed at home with her. Both parents were killed in the crash the Joker caused this afternoon. It doesn’t look like there’s any other relatives so she will be going into the system and hopefully put with a foster family.”
You had been listening to Gordon, but you got caught up on the fact that Y/N’s dad worked for you. You were going to look into that more when you got back to work. You were sad to hear that she didn’t have any other family to take care of her. You didn’t want her going into foster care; it would be a nightmare for her.
“Don’t you think the foster care system might be a bit harsh for her after what she just went through? I mean do you think a family is really going to want to take care of her if she struggles with trauma from the whole experience?”
Gordon listened and thought for a moment, “Yeah that is a factor that will come into play if she is ever going to get adopted. I’m not sure if there is much I can do though, Bruce.” He seemed sad to admit that.
You were continuing your conversation walking the halls of the hospital until you got to Y/N’s room. She was still asleep, but she looked better. She had her arm in a cast and sling just like you did, same injured arm, same colored cast and everything.
You just stood there with Gordon looking at the little girl, thinking about what lay ahead of her.
One of Y/N’s nurses walked up to you, “Mr. Wayne?”
“Yes?”
“Y/N should be waking up soon. Her surgery went well but she did wake up in the middle of it at one point. She was crying for you and seemed very upset. I think she would really like it if you were there when she woke up.”
“Thank you, I will be. Do you guys have a gift store where I can get her a stuffed animal or anything?”
“Yes, it's on first floor near the food court,” she directed you to where to go.
You asked Gordon to stay outside her door while he looked into what he could do for the girl’s case. You walked down to the gift store and looked for the right gift to get Y/N.
You had found a sea turtle stuffed animal and you figured it would be a good gift for her. It had big doe eyes and a nice pattern to its shell. You purchased it along with a movie called Finding Nemo. You had never seen it, but it was animated and had a sea turtle on it so you figured it’d go well with the stuffed animal.
When you got back to Y/N’s room, you heard crying and Alfred talking. It seems as though Y/N had woken up while you were shopping for the gift and Alfred was trying to calm her down.
You popped your head around the corner and stood in the doorway. When Y/N saw you, her face lit up and you could see her relax. You were hiding the gifts behind your back until you got close enough to her bed and you pulled them out.
“Hey Squeaker, I figured you’d need something and someone to cheer you up, just in case I wasn’t around,” you said softly to her while handing her the items, “How are you feeling?”
“Thank you so much!” she said as she took the gifts and immediately hugged the stuffed turtle. “I’m feeling better now that I know you haven’t left yet.”
“I wasn’t going to leave without making sure you’d be okay. I have my friend, Gordon, working on what’s going to happen to you once you’re out of the hospital.”
She gave a small smile that you could tell was hiding her sadness as she remembered her new situation.
“But hey we don’t have to think about that right now, Gordon will figure it out. For now, how about we watch the movie I got you?”
She smiled fully at that and scooted over on her bed once you had put the movie into the hospital room’s tv. She patted the space next to her and told you to sit. You did and you decided it wasn’t a bad idea to snuggle.
You had Alfred turn the lights down and you sat on the bed with your good arm around Y/N. You could tell she welcomed the gentle interaction and affection and to be frank, so did you. You let out a small sigh and settled in for the movie with a small smile on your face after you kissed Y/N’s hair.
Alfred had been observing from the doorway when he gently closed the door just enough to still see in. Gordon looked in and saw the setup and smiled, “Maybe Bruce should adopt Y/N?” he suggested.
Alfred looked at Gordon with a look of surprise, “What makes you say that, sir?”
“Well, I mean look at them, she is comfortable with him. He seems to adore her and he saved her life, which makes a connection, whether he meant to or not. Plus, he seems awfully concerned about what’s going to happen to her after everything. It could be good for the both of them. For Christ’s sake, they have the same damn injury! They’re practically twins!” Gordon laughed out the last bit, noticing how cute of a coincidence it was.
Alfred simply smiled and said, “Perhaps you’re right, Mr. Gordon. I will talk to Bruce about it before we leave today.”
He looked back at the two sitting in the room watching the movie and both were starting to nod off. They had been through a lot and deserved some rest. Alfred couldn’t deny though, how heartwarming it was to see his Bruce care so much for someone so similar to him; broken arm, orphan, and all.
The next day the papers had Bruce’s picture plastered all over them. Headlines such as ‘Gotham’s Prince Saves the Day’ and ‘Wayne Proves Everyone Wrong’ were everywhere. People were reading the article about how Bruce Wayne had been on the bridge during the wreck and how he had saved a little girl from being tortured and killed by the Joker. There was even a picture of Bruce and the little girl dangling from the cable off the side of the bridge, showcasing just what he had done. Gotham was buzzing with all the gossip.
People’s opinions about Bruce seemed to have changed overnight. Gotham was surprised by Bruce’s action; this act of bravery and courage was not something that usually accompanied his name when in the tabloids.
Papers and news networks were having a field day for the remainder of the week, talking about Bruce, the little girl, and the Joker. The video that had been captured that day on the bridge had gone viral over the Internet and it was all that anyone could talk about.
The day after being released from the hospital, a picture of Bruce and Y/N sleeping in the hospital bed after falling asleep to the movie was on the cover of every newspaper and tabloid in Gotham with the title, “Wayne Family a Family Once More”.
There were articles all over talking about how Bruce had adopted the young 6 year-old after everything that happened that day. Pictures of the two spending father/daughter time together seemed to be what the papers printed from then on instead of Bruce’s dating life and spending habits. Alfred was happy with the outcome because Bruce seemed genuinely happy and Y/N was adjusting well. It all worked out for the better despite the shattered beginning.
Your POV:
You opened your eyes back to the stars, you had sweat beading on your forehead and was wiping it away when a calm voice spoke behind you.
“You alright there, Squeaker?”
“Yeah, Dad I’m fine, just remembering when you first found me is all…”
Bruce sat down next to you and put his arm around his not-so-little-anymore girl. He placed a small kiss to your hair and pulled out your stuffed turtle from behind his back. He handed you the small toy that had meant so much to you for most of your life. All you could do was smile, hug the turtle, and breathe out a small sigh. Bruce had always known how to make you feel better even if you weren’t upset; he was a good dad that way. You leaned into his embrace and you both sat for a while looking at the stars, content in each other’s company.

DC Bloodlines Comicbook Reviews
I had a blast reading my collection of books in this story arc! Each book is listed below in reading order, with the ones I've read reviewed.
Bloodlines: Outbreak
Lobo Annual #1 by Alan Grant My rating: 3 of 5 stars Oh boy, that was about the most psychedelic DC comic I've ever read! I'm not really acquainted with Lobo, even though I did read one "New 52" featuring him. But this guy here, this Lobo?! A total nutjob. Everybody looks like early '90s punks and the art is an eyesore featuring mostly purples and greens. This is one weird group of anti? semi? superheroes? The story, on the other hand, is intriguing. Bloodlines is an arc that ran through the DC universe in 1993. It is comprised of many superheroes annuals and a few single issues. I don't have the complete set but I do have a small  pile. The Lobo Annual is the first book in the Bloodlines series and introduces us to the aliens who have entered Earth's solar system. They are big rather "Alien"-ish looking, fierce with a taste for human "juices". Superman: The Man of Steel Annual #2 Batman: Shadow of The Bat Annual #1 The Flash Annual #6
The New Titans Annual #9 by Elizabeth Hand My rating: 4 of 5 stars This is book 5 in the Bloodlines saga. Having only read volume 1 I was a bit wary of having skipped over the other books. However, this was unnecessary as the book reads like a standalone. The book starts with a Voodoo cult who is taken control of by two of the alien beings who arrived in volume 1, both of whom we met before. Then on to the New Titans who have been given the case of all these blood sucking deaths. I loved this crew, not having read a '90s version before. I knew all the members but didn't recognize them by look alone. The art is very psychedelic with an infusion of every bright colour possible. I don't think I'm a fan of the artwork from this period. The story was excellent though and I enjoyed getting to know this version of the New Titans. The story here is self-contained and ends with a complete ending as far as the Titans are concerned but the aliens are ready to go bother someone else.
Superman Annual #5 by Dan Jurgens My rating: 5 of 5 stars This is only very loosely tied to the Bloodlines series, and yet may possibly be a pivotal one in the story arc. The aliens are on the first few pages, sucking fluid from human spines but then one of them finds a dead body and sucks her juices. Then the aliens are gone for the rest of the book. However, the dead body turns into a new villain, Myriad, who upon contact takes the personality and memories of that person. After her first try at this, she realises she has to kill the person so she can fully assimilate them into herself. The art is great! Much better than the other '90s art I've been experiencing lately. The book also takes place during '93s "Death of Superman" storyline so Superman is actually not even in his own annual but instead the Cyborg Superman is taking his place. Green Lantern Annual #2 Batman Annual #17 Justice League International Annual #4
Bloodlines: Earthplague
Robin Annual #2
Action Comics Annual #5
Legion of Super-Heroes Annual #4
Green Arrow Annual #6
Detective Comics Annual #6 by Chuck Dixon My rating: 5 of 5 stars Wow. That was a satisfying and quick read. It held my attention from the get-go even though this DC era is so different for me. First, I've jumped into the 5th book in the second story arc of Bloodlines, Earthplague. The story of the aliens is easy to pick up as they are still just roaming around causing trouble and sucking the spinal fluid out of humans. There's one alien in this and it's one who's been around since the very first book, Lobo. At the same time, it is a story about a guy new to the superhero business, one who's only been in the gig for a year. Batman. Yes, Batman! When in the world did this Jean Paul Valley become Batman?? Where is Bruce Wayne? I actually liked Valley as Batman but this totally shocked me and after reading the books I have in this series I'm going to have to go back and find some reading to do from this period of DC, the early '90s.
Justice League America Annual #7 by Bill Loebs My rating: 4 of 5 stars Another great issue in this series. This time the aliens are a big part of the story but much more so is a man who gets turned into one of the Newbloods. He changes appearance totally and quickly discovers that when he touches someone they turn into a monster of themselves. This guy already had a chip on his shoulder against the world and now he can do something about it, calling himself Terrorsmith. So the JLA are called in and spend their time tracking down this guy while at the same time going after the aliens. This 90s JLA was very unfamiliar to me and I found it interesting. Booster Gold was the main character, while Wonder Woman was the most known. A great story and the art isn't too shabby either except it has a lot of red and yellow making it quite bright. I have the next one in the series coming up and am looking forward to it.
Adventures of Superman Annual #5 by Karl Kesel My rating: 4 of 5 stars This is the next issue in the series coming right after JLA. Another action-packed issue making for a very fast read. Now, remember that Superman is "dead" at this time in 1993 so Supe is not in his own annual. This time we have a young man, a boy, being called in to be Superman. He is never referred to by any name other than Superman so I didn't know who he actually is; I just thought of him as Superboy, whoever that was in '93. This issue brings the story back to being heavily plotted around the aliens and we finally get to know what their ultimate plan is. By my count 5 of the 6 aliens were in this book. I'm really enjoying this story arc and would like to get the rest of the books someday. I'm now moving onto the 3rd story arc and own two more issues to read. Hawkman Annual #1
Bloodlines: Deathstorm
Deathstroke Annual #2
Eclipso Annual #1 by Robert Loren Fleming My rating: 5 of 5 stars I'm jumping into the 3rd volume (Deathstorm) of this series with issue two. Every book in this series just gets better and better! Or at least just as good, and to think it all started with a crazy Lobo annual. :-) Mostly just more of the same here. I've never heard of Eclipso before and was surprised to find out that he was a villain. Prism is the Newblood created in this issue and for the first time (at least in the issues I've read) we meet with the other Newbloods from previous issues who have banded together to get the alien who created them all. This was great fun meeting up with them all again after having had them just walk off into the sunset in their own story issues. Fantastic fight at the end between Newblood Prism and Eclipso. The end of the book notes that the new superheroes (Newbloods) will be returning in their own series called "Bloodbath". Will have to check into that. Now I personally own only one more issue, at this time, and will be getting to that next! Demon Annual #2 Batman: Legends of The Dark Knight Annual #3
Team Titans Annual #1 by Marv Wolfman My rating: 5 of 5 stars I was excited when I saw this was by Marv Wolfman so went into it with great expectations even though I had never heard of this team or any of the heroes. First, I must say I really liked the graphic design of this book. The text was much bigger and more blocky than usual and I found it very easy on the eyes. As you can tell from the cover the art is psychedelically out there! But it actually works very well. Totally new superheroes to me but I'd be interested in seeing more of them as they prove quite interesting. The "Bloodlines" alien plot is very low key in this issue. There are two brief appearances of aliens, however, the main plot revolves around the character who is bitten at the beginning of the book. Then the "Teamers" set out to rescue her and the story goes into detail about her new powers consuming her and causing mayhem. Though she battles them, they finally manage to calm her down and Chimera is born. L.E.G.I.O.N. Annual #4
Bloodlines: Bloodbath
Bloodbath #1 Bloodbath #2 By: [email protected] (Nikki in Niagara)

Discourse Argument-

Suicide Squad is set for release on August 5, 2016. The main competition for the film will be Pete's Dragon, which actually debuts a week later on August 12. This gives the film plenty of time to rack up an impressive opening, which is exactly what it is expected to do.
This will probably be a surprise, considering the naturally dark nature of a film that focuses on supervillains, but Suicide Squad is actually shooting for a PG-13 rating. The goal for DC was to make sure the movie would fit in with their other cinematic offerings, such as Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which scored the almost kid friendly rating earlier this year. As of this writing, Suicide Squad still hasn't garnered an official rating.
The specific plot for the movie hasn’t been revealed yet, but we can expect the basic premise from the comic books to be the same. The Suicide Squad, officially designated Task Force X, is a secret team of supervillains who have been imprisoned by the United States government. The team undertakes high-risk missions for the government in exchange for amnesty. If they succeed in their mission, they live to fight another day, and get their sentences reduced. But if they fail, they can just be written off. Hence the nickname, "Suicide Squad." In the source material, team members also have micro bombs implanted inside them, which can be detonated if they try to escape or cause trouble during the mission. Whether or not this will be featured in the film is not yet known. It was announced back in September 2014 that David Ayer will helm Suicide Squad. Ayer is most famous for directing films like Street Kings and End of Watch. Most recently, 2014 saw the release of his World War II drama Fury, which followed tank operators during the final days of war in Europe, as well as the over-the-top violent cop drama Sabotage. In addition to directing, Ayer – who previously penned scripts for movies like Training Day, The Fast and the Furious and S.W.A.T. - also wrote Suicide Squad. As you can tell, his resume is primarily based around action movies, so he seems like an ideal fit for this film. During pre-production and filming, Ayer used social media to give fans looks behind the scenes, from shots of unique weapons to teasing a certain Batman-related locations.
n 2016, Jared Leto will become the fourth person to play Batman’s greatest enemy on the big screen - following in the footsteps of Caesar Romero, Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger. We don’t yet know the specifics of how The Joker will fit into the plot of Suicide Squad, but the actor has enough experience playing unusual roles (like Mark David Chapman and Rayon in Dallas Buyers Club) that this will a doable challenge. HisSuicide Squad costars have said he went very method while playing the Joker role, and from what we’ve seen of him so far, it looks like he’ll be terrifying. In the trailer from San Diego Comic-Con 2015, it was suggested that Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller has thrown The Joker into a hole and thrown away the hole – however, all of the other footage that’s been provided of Leto in character features him out and about. It’s very possible that Joker will be locked away for a good deal of the film, and that the footage showing him outside of a cage is all from flashbacks.
She was created specifically for Batman: The Animated Series in 1992, and 24 years later Harley Quinn is finally making her live-action film debut. Originally a psychiatrist at Arkham Asylum, Dr. Harleen Quinzel was corrupted by The Joker and became his assistant/girlfriend. Although Harley has primarily been a Batman character, recent years have seen her branching out into other corners of the DC universe. It was during the New 52 re-launch of DC Comics that she was added onto the Suicide Squad, and she’s been one of its primary members ever since. Harley’s only other live-action appearance was in the short-lived TV series Birds of Prey, and it’s probably best that we forget about that.
In order to keep this team of villains in check while in the field, you need a disciplined soldier leading that charge. That’s where Rick Flag comes in. A former Special Forces operative with a strategic mind, Flag has led several iterations of the Suicide Squad during the decades. He’ll do whatever it to make his country proud, even if it means having to work with these detestable villains. Flag has appeared in shows like Justice League Unlimited and Smallville, as well as the animated movie Justice League: The New Frontier.
Of all the Suicide Squad members, Enchantress is the arguably the least well-known. In the comics, June Moore was a normal teenage girl who was at a costume party at the Terror Castle. After discovering a secret passage, she finds a demon who tells her that she’s going to become a mystical hero. When she says the word "Enchantress," she transforms into a black-haired, costumed hero with magical abilities. However, despite the demon’s proclamation, June’s mind eventually snapped, and she became a criminal. This led to her joining the Suicide Squad, as she believed they would be able to help her keep the villainous side in check.
George "Digger" Harkness became a skillful boomerang thrower while growing up in Australia. He originally used this talent as a performer, but later started committing crimes. Although he’s been a frequent adversary of The Flash, Boomerang is also well-known for being a regular member of the Suicide Squad. In the early Suicide Squad stories from 1980s, his personality and racist comments often drew the ire of his teammates. He also had a tendency to sit back and watch when things get ugly out in the field, happy to just watch the mayhem. The footage we’ve seen certainly suggest that this is the version of the character that we will be seeing on the big screen
If there’s one supervillain whose name pops up more frequently than most when the Suicide Squad is mentioned, it’s Floyd Lawton, a.k.a. Deadshot. He is one of the most notorious assassins in the DC Universe, claiming to never miss his target. He is visually recognizable by his cybernetic eye-piece, which boosts his accuracy and displays information for him. Once he’s paid, Deadshot will carry out a hit no matter what circumstances come his way. He also has a death wish. While he won’t outright commit suicide, he wants to leave this world in a spectacular fashion,
Amanda Waller, nicknamed The Wall, is the woman in charge of the Suicide Squad. Originally a congressional aide, she has been the director of several agencies in the DC Universe, most recently A.R.G.U.S. (Advanced Research Group Uniting Super-Humans). Despite not having any superpowers, Waller has proven herself a worthy adversary not to be trifled with. Her tactics may be drastic, but she’ll do whatever it takes to protect the United States from harm, whether it involves taking out a supervillain or neutralizing a superhero she believes to be a threat. As for the Suicide Squad itself, Waller only sees the team members (excluding Flag) as expendable assets. She won’t hesitate to eliminate any of them if she thinks it’s necessary for the mission. Think of her as a way more ruthless Nick Fury.
Born Waylon Jones, Killer Croc has largely been known as a Batman villain – famous for being born with a form of atavism that causes him to have reptilian-like skin and other traits. He grew up in an abusive household and ultimately turned to a life of crime, and has aspirations of being the kingpin of Gotham. In addition to having the teeth and claws of a reptile, he is also incredibly strong, and will likely serve as the heavy of the cinematicSuicide Squad
In case the name wasn’t clear enough, Slipknot is a character whose specialty rests in the "ropes" category. Also known as Christopher Weiss, he was introduced as an employee of a chemical company where he helped develop the strong ropes he would ultimately use while working as an assassin. Due to his impressive skills, he wound up on the radar of Amanda Waller,
Audiences just got to see Katana come to life played by Rila Fukushima in the third season of Arrow, but it will be actress Karen Fukuhara who will be playing the expert martial artist in Suicide Squad. If you’re trying to figure out if you recognize the name, however,
There have been multiple iterations of El Diablo in DC Comics, as the character's existence goes back to the old west - where a man named Lazarus Lane was nearly killed by a gang of thieves, but revived by a Native American shaman. He adopted the name El Diablo, and from that day forward became a vigilante. The Suicide Squad live-action take on the character won’t be this version, but instead the more recent one from DC’s line of New 52 comics. In those comics, El Diablo is Chato Santana, a former criminal who actually encounters Lazarus Lane and takes on the old west hero’s mantle.
Suicide Squad is a movie filled with bad guys and government officials with questionable morals, but there will be at least one hero present. It was confirmed by footage leaked online during filming that Batman will serve in at least a minor capacity, making this his second DCEU appearance after March’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. In what is presumably a flashback, there will be a car chase scene between him and Joker that eventually results in Bats on top of Joker and Harley’s sweet ride
While it remains only a rumor at this point, with the character not yet mentioned in any official announcement about the film, it’s been heavily suggested that Suicide Squad will have a direct connection back to the events of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - specifically through Lex Luthor. We first heard about this back in October 2014, when it was reported that Jesse Eisenberg was in discussions with Warner Bros. about reprising the supervillain character.

The Buy Pile: Bad People & Bad Decisions Make For Good Comics
WHAT IS THE BUY PILE?
Every week Hannibal Tabu (winner of the 2012 Top Cow Talent Hunt/blogger/novelist/poet/jackass on Twitter/head honcho of Komplicated) grabs a whole lotta comics. These periodicals are quickly sorted (how) into two piles — the “buy” pile (a small pile most weeks, comprised of planned purchases) and the “read” pile (often huge, often including comics that are really crappy but have some value to stay abreast of). Thursday afternoons you’ll be able to get his thoughts (and they’re just the opinions of one guy, so calm down, and here’s some common definitions used in the column) about all of that … which goes something like this …
THE BUY PILE FOR JANUARY 18, 2017
Curse Words #1 (Image Comics)
Jump from the Read Pile. The lure of leisure time and scantily clad romantic partners have felled conquerors of many stripes, from the Zentraedi in “Robotech” to … well, the Invid in “Robotech.” In this crafty new book, an imperialist’s minion gets a change of heart when he experiences New York City. That part is very engaging, and when the bill inevitably comes due that leads to some solid action and the truth needing protection in an extreme fashion. Charles Soule, Ryan Browne, Jordan Boyd, Michael Parkinson, Chris Crank and Shawn DePasquale turned in one entertaining work and watching this struggle between demons and slightly better angels is a great start.
“Grand Passion” #3 breaks all the rules and loves every minute of it.
Grand Passion #3 (Dynamite Entertainment)
Jump from the Read Pile. Not at all safe for work, this twisted gunpoint love story has everything you need to get engaged in the characters and resolve the plot in this issue while pushing you towards the next one. Spoilers would abound with discussing the details, but James Robinson, Tom Feister, Dave Curiel and Simon Bowland deliver a bawdy, enjoyable romp.
WHAT’S THE PROGNOSIS?
New ideas getting their game face together? Gotta love that, especially with so much cool new stuff happening.
THIS WEEK’S READ PILE
Honorable Mentions: Stuff worth noting, even if it’s not good enough to buy
Answers start to come in “Mosaic” #4 with the help of a brain significantly better than the series’ protagonist. There’s a real holodeck feel to it, as a lot of nothing happened just to transfer some information and do a bit of character work. That dragged the plot, which wasn’t so good, but the building of Morris Sackett as a character is fantastic.
Maximus the Mad is like a bored frat boy Loki in “Uncanny Inhumans” #18 where he comes up with a plan that only involves a little bit of murder and mayhem but he figures will be wholly forgiven. Hanging out with two of the worst Inhuman villains aside from himself, this has the feeling of a good crime comedy but hits the brakes sometime during the second act, leaving things unresolved. An improvement with the focus on character, but not enough to make it home.
“WWE” #1 was interestingly written, presenting the story behind the story as a story, reframing actual events in wrestling … “history,” we can call it. In any case, this behind the scenes look plays out as if the characters on the screen are the same when the cameras are off, carrying the scripted nature of the stories to a whole new level. On one hand, that’s brilliant and amazing, especially with the Seth Rollins characterization. On another hand, many of the shirtless characters herein were difficult to distinguish from each other, and that made the story seem to go by in a blur at points.
“Captain America Sam Wilson” #18 took a long time to make what seems like an obvious decision (as stated by almost everybody who matters in these pages), which made its titular character terrible even in the eyes of many people closest to him. It also had a strategy from a young hero that bordered on stupidity, so that was a problem. What was good was Steve Rogers, dancing around double entendres so much that Ben Kenobi might pause and then applaud respectfully. The ideas are better than the execution, and if this issue is right that the cause matters more than the consequences, that’s something to like.
Just when “Star Wars Doctor Aphra” #3 was getting good, after some character development (including her full name) and finding out just how dangerous a single Wookiee can be, when the page count caught up to it, cutting the story off at the climax of a second act. Written as trade bait? Maybe. This was close to making the mark, though, as each cast member did some of what makes them awesome.
The “Meh” Pile Not good enough to praise, not bad enough to insult, they just kind of happened … “Harbinger Renegade” #3, “Aquaman” #15, “Revolutionaries” #1, “Trinity” #5, “Cage” #4, “Hook Jaw” #2, “Green Arrow” #15, “Squadron Supreme” #15, “Jeff Steinberg Champion Of Earth” #5, “Dollface” #1, “Lucifer” #14, “Spider-Gwen” #16, “Black Hammer Giant-Sized Annual” #1, “Venom” #3, “Superman” #15, “Deadpool And The Mercs For Money” #7, “Horizon” #7, “Ultimates 2” #3, “Justice League” #13, “Black Widow” #10, “Athena Voltaire And The Volcano Goddess” #3, “Suicide Squad Most Wanted El Diablo And Amanda Waller” #6, “Divinity III Aric Son Of The Revolution” #1, “Avengers” #3.1, “Raven” #5, “Unbelievable Gwenpool” #10, “Battlestar Galactica Gods And Monsters” #3, “Mighty Captain Marvel” #1, “Justice League Vs Suicide Squad” #5, “Gamora” #2, “Doctor Who The Ninth Doctor” #9, “Patsy Walker A.K.A. Hellcat” #14, “Harley Quinn” #12, “Kill Or Be Killed” #5, “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” #11, “James Bond Hammerhead” #4, “Nightwing” #13, “Black Panther World Of Wakanda” #3, “Generation Zero” #6, “Star-Lord” #2, “Cougar And Cub” #1, “All-New X-Men” #17, “Justice League Of America The Ray Rebirth” #1, “U.S. Avengers” #2, “Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency The Salmon Of Doubt” #4, “Invincible Iron Man” #3, “He-Man Thundercats” #4, “Night’s Dominion” #5, “Green Lanterns” #15, “Few” #1, “Batman” #15.
No, just … no … These comics? Not so much …
Since “Clone Conspiracy” #4 and “Amazing Spider-Man” #23 have so many of the same story elements, they may as well have the same review. Of course, trusting maniacs and murderers goes as it inevitably has to after pages and pages of moralistic hand wringing and prevarication. These books are so predictably doomed that when the other shoe finally drops, it’s almost a relief to know there’s just the punching and attempted murder to get through now. Subpar concept, adequate execution.
SO, HOW BAD WAS IT?
Not bad.
WINNERS AND LOSERS
Those jumps, though … let’s call this week a winner.
THE BUSINESS
Well, there are 22 pages of a new 72 page web comic on line, there’s another one coming next month while a third just got collected for sale, 44 pages of story for just three bucks through Black History Month. All that and asking the question who is David Chance? It was a big weekend at the Black Comix Arts Festival in San Francisco, and if you join the mailing list there’s free stuff in it for you, to boot!
The writer of this column isn’t just a jerk who spews his opinions — he writes stuff too. A lot. Like what? You can get “Project Wildfire: Enter Project Torrent” (a collected superhero web comic), “The Crown: Ascension” and “Faraway,” five bucks a piece, or spend a few more dollars and get “New Money” #1 from Canon Comics, the rambunctious tale of four multimillionaires running wild in Los Angeles, a story in “Watson and Holmes Volume 2” co-plotted by “2 Guns” creator Steven Grant, two books from Stranger Comics — “Waso: Will To Power” and the sequel “Waso: Gathering Wind” (the tale of a young man who had leadership thrust upon him after a tragedy), or “Fathom Sourcebook” #1, “Soulfire Sourcebook” #1, “Executive Assistant Iris Sourcebook” #1 and “Aspen Universe Sourcebook,” the official guides to those Aspen Comics franchises. Love these reviews? It’d be great if you picked up a copy. Hate these reviews? Find out what this guy thinks is so freakin’ great. There’s free sample chapters too, and all proceeds to towards the care and maintenance of his kids … oh, and to buy comic books, of course. There’s also a bunch of great stuff — fantasy, superhero stuff, magical realism and more — available from this writer on Amazon. What are you waiting for? Go buy a freakin’ book already!
Got a comic you think should be reviewed in The Buy Pile? If we get a PDF of a fairly normal length comic (i.e. “less than 64 pages”) by no later than 24 hours before the actual issue arrives in stores (and sorry, we can only review comics people can go to stores and buy), we guarantee the work will get reviewed, if remembered. Physical comics? Geddouttahere. Too much drama to store with diminishing resources. If you send it in more than two days before comics come out, the possibility of it being forgotten increases exponentially. Oh, you should use the contact form as the CBR email address hasn’t been regularly checked since George W. Bush was in office. Sorry!

Let's Save the World
Greetings from Earth! First time poster to this blog and stoked to meet some new partners. My name is Chris and I’m a male nurse (Yo, you’re going to get some medically accurate roleplay) in his late twenties. I have a lovely wife and two stupidly handsome animals (Pictures of the animals available on request) but manage to maintain a pretty active roleplay life due to the fact that I work nights. The Basics: I tell everyone that I’m a professional. I try to reply 1-3 times a week and the length of posts depends on amount of characters in play. If I’m going to take longer, I always try to let you know. I’m willing to write male and female characters and focus on M/F as the male and F/F. M/M just isn’t my thing, sorry y'all.
I’ll start with originals and then dive into fandoms. I put extra *s by the lines that I will literally lose my mind if you approach me about. Searching hard! -The Social Media Age****** A m/f line that I’ve given a little thought to, looking for someone to write a young woman that is pretty much making her living being an instagram model/fitness person, etc. I’d be willing to set this in the present but think it would be way more fun in the 70s or 80s. I have an idea for one of the kids having lost a sibling in a strange way when they were young and possibly some sort of cult in town.
Fandoms!
-Star Wars**
I'd really love to write Obi-Wan during the interim between the prequels and the OG trilogy. Hit me with some sort of love interest that he can go off and be adventuring with while Luke is super young.
-Preacher Seriously. Love this show, love this comic. Would happily write Jesse or Cassidy against Tulip. Just definitely looking for a Tulip
-Harry Potterverse
I'd love to write a pair of aurors, something original. I'm think, basically, magic buddy cop thrillride? That's literally all my brain has and it sounds awesome.
-The Boys Would love to write Hughie against Starlight! Currently working my way through the season that just dropped. -Marvel -I will love you forever if you write an Elektra against my Daredevil. They are toxic and in love and I love it. Whether it be the comics or the Netflix series, I don’t care. Someone please write me an Elektra. Netflix did a good job of portraying this one -Alternatively, I’d also be happy to write against a Black Widow, either with Daredevil. They were a mainstay OTP in the comics in the 90s and I’d love to write against Scarlet’s Black Widow. -Has anyone seen the trailer for the neverendingly delayed New Mutants movie? I would love to write something based on that horror aspect of the mutant universe.* -I’d love to write an older MCU Peter Parker (like college) running across a MCU version of Black Cat. Or just a Spiderman roleplay in general. I’ve always wanted to write Peter but have never gotten the chance! I have a ton of ideas for this, plus faceclaims for a few of the villains. Would also be willing to play him against Zendaya’s MJ, Spidergwen, or Silk (Deepcut)**************************** (I so badly want to write Peter) -One of the pairings that was done for a time in the comics was Star Lord against Kitty Pryde and it was actually a lot of fun. If anyone would want to do a MCU version of this, I would so *DOWN* to play Quill, Xmen hijinks a plenty in space -If you write Jessica Jones, I’d be willing to write almost anyone against her (NOT KILGRAVE). Just let me know. I’d be super down to write Luke Cage or maybe Matt Murdock. I do a mean John Constantine, which, let’s face it, is a cross company illustration of the two most terrible people together -Hawkguys! I would love to either write Clint against Kate Bishop (This would be a slightly skewed MCU vibe) or Kate against America Chavez. I would really love to do either of these lines. Or a poly version if someone is willing! -I’d love to write Logan as an active member of the MCU Avengers, possibly as a partner in crime/wetworks/murder with Black Widow. Those two could cause some mayhem. -Honestly, any X-men relationship could be sold to me. Just try it. I would love to find a Kitty for Piotr, a Rogue for Remy, or almost anyone for Kurt.
-DC I’d love to write Batman against Catwoman, please. Or John Constantine against literally almost anyone
-Hannibal I’ve been dying to do a sort of season 4 for a while now, focused on Clarice Starlings interaction with Will Graham and later Hannibal Lecter. Just need to find someone willing to create an original style Clarice. -Resident Evil I’d like to write Leon against Claire Redfield or Jill Valentine in an original outbreak or a new one. I know this is an old school fandom but I’m a diehard fan. Maybe just an original crew, set during the movies, after, or an AU where they’re the only survivors of Zion? Im not sure but I could plot something out!
-Uncharted I’d love to write Chloe Frazier against Nadine Ross, continuing their adventures. I’m pretty wide open on what we can do with this one. I’d prefer to write Lara but I’m definitely not picky. If you made it this far, you’re a hero and I owe you a beer. Hope to hear from some great writers! Let’s create something *EPIC*
