Long before this trainee of the dark arts would come to be called Bayonetta, she took a fateful journey into the forbidden Avalon Forest. Any good story has a lesson about teamwork, no? In this tale, Cereza and Cheshire coordinate their efforts to fight faeries and solve puzzles. Use the Left Joy-Con controller to move Cereza and bind enemies with her magic. With the Right Joy-Con controller, move Cheshire to slash and chomp foes.

With respect: I can't believe Platinum is releasing another game trying to patch nonsensical plot holes and trying harder on making bayoluka even more of a thing. As someone who has seen the other two games I've seen more actual chemistry between Bajo and Jeane (especially in Bayonetta 2) than with Luka. I wish they were presented more as good friends instead of lovers because that's all I see in them and I feel like it would be something actually refreshing to see.

I want to preface by apologizing that it took me so long to respond to this. I've been working a lot for the holidays.

But yeah, it is ridiculous that Platinum thinks it's okay to release entirely separate titles to fix story issues they very intentionally put in one of their most anticipated titles ever.

And I'm not even entirely against BayoLuka being canon but the way that went about it just seems to be in contrast to everything the characters are. Luka isn't appealing as a love interest for Bayo because he's the Adam to her Eve. He's appealing because he's the Lois Lane to her Superman.

He's just some dude, but he still manages to keep up and brighten Bayonetta's day with his presence. He makes her happy and makes her laugh. That should be the focus if they're going to develop this into a full romance. Not make Luka the single most important man in the multiverse with some fairy and voices in his head bullshit.

And I'm a little mad at myself because I am excited for Cereza and The Lost Demon. It looks like a fun charming adventure game with an art style I'm already head over heels in love with.

But I can't excuse that it feels like its here just to retcon everything about Bayonetta's and Luka's relationship to justify the terrible writing of 3.

Kamiya recently said in an interview he "won't do anything to betray the players". Well he's on probation for me. Because regardless of what direction he wants to take the series, there had to have been a better way than what was given to us in Bayonetta 3. Here's to high hopes that Kamiya proves us all wrong. I'm hoping he does.
