really love how throughout a lot of smith and jones martha is really skeptical and apprehensive towards ten (+ one of my favorite exchanges between them - "what, people call you 'the doctor'?" "yeah?" "well, i'm not. far as i'm concerned, you've got to earn that title."), not taking everything he says at face value, even doubting the fact he's an alien until over halfway through the episode.. And like. i really truly think the thing that wins her over isn't him kissing her or any of the other insane mixed messages he manages to send, it's this scene here, where he /earns that title/ in her eyes:
(+ david's bit in the commentary, where he says: "[the doctor] has actually sacrificed himself, and - i would say, that that final act of selflessness is what finally, eventually, welds martha to him. [...] and she now returns it. she returns that act of selflessness.")
this is what their relationship is built on. it isn't about martha being the second-best replacement to rose or a rebound or whatever. bc it isn't really about rose. it's about doctor-in-training martha meeting someone (quite literally, "the doctor") whose ideals she aspires to, and doing her best to be the same person to him as he is to everyone else. it's about ten in return admiring her intelligence and inquisitiveness and how she cares for human life, recovering his compassion, letting himself lean on her for support - and then remembering at the most inopportune moments that he's supposed to not need anyone and be on his own forever. And around in their little nightmare loop they go where they save each other over and over until one of them breaks
i've seen ppl look at martha and go "why she does she admire/why is she so in love with ten if he acts like that to her?" or something along those lines and like. it's not just the fact she's in love with him (in fact i'd argue she actively tries to push it aside post-gridlock). it's the fact that she knows he's the kind of person to put everyone else's lives/well-being over his own. she trusts him to save her when she's in trouble even though it's been like two days at most that they've known one another bc she recognizes that same "deep all-encompassing drive to help others" in him. and she also recognizes, much much earlier than him, that he needs someone to save him, especially when he's unwilling to save himself. and yeah for a bit she thinks he returns her feelings and is just playing hard-to-get, but she realizes pretty early on that this probably isn't the case, and i think that realization fully solidifies here:
(this is when she's listening to ten talk abt gallifrey). And idk it might just be me but i think this expression isn't just her empathizing with his loss. it's also guilt, for wanting something from him that he's clearly unable to give when he's wracked with so much grief. (and you see it in the next episode, where tallulah asks if they're together and martha says for certain that they're not, and that he doesn't know about her feelings for him. she keeps everything to herself bc she now knows that when he shut her flirting down at the end of 3x01 it was the genuine reaction of someone who a) isn't interested and b) is scared of getting close with someone else again)
freema described their dynamic as "she's keener than him" and i think about this all the time. martha doesn't really take what ten throws at her. what she does instead is constantly poke holes in his already-failing front of "i will show someone the wonders of the universe so i can ignore what is wrong with me". what she does is stand up and fight him when he tries to go off on his own. what she does is put aside her well-being in favor of helping someone - just like what she saw him do for the people in the hospital when they first met. tldr, that's the doctor and his doctor and rip martha you would've loved who's gonna save u now by rina sawayama

okay so I keep seeing people say that Connor’s choice to either become deviant/remain machine is the biggest choice in the game but it occurred to me earlier that it’s actually completely dependent on Markus?
bc during Crossroads Connor’s conversation with Markus can boost his software instability if it’s too low to unlock the deviant option (side note: I don’t know if Connor’s conversation with North does the same? because you can’t choose her dialogue?) but ALSO in Night of the Soul if Markus shoots Connor that’s it he’s a machine again no more deviant Connor. So really Connor doesn’t have much of a choice at all
does this make sense at all?? idk (hope you’re having a good day! <3)
(I'm doing alright, thank you! <3)
And yes you're definitely right. I mean, of course, there's instances where no matter how much Markus boosts Connor's SI, he still can't deviate, but yes your point stands, and the same is with North, where everything she says raises Connor's SI. In both situations, if Connor does/says something machine like, his software instability goes down, but no matter what Markus or North say, it positively influences his SI. And yeah, if Markus shoots Connor in NotS, Connor comes back as a machine no matter what.
Connor's status as a machine or as a deviant is entirely dependent on other characters/the environment he's in. Sure, he can make choices that affect whether or not his Software Instability goes up or down, but those choices wouldn't be possible on his own. For example, he couldn't choose saving Hank over chasing Rupert if Hank wasn't there in the first place as someone who Connor could respect and regard. Connor wouldn't have been able to choose to spare the TRACIs if Echo hadn't explained to him why she'd killed the man in the first place. He wouldn't be able to spare Chloe if Kamski hadn't put the idea in his mind that she's living, if Hank hadn't called her a "nice girl", etc. etc. These things influence or trigger his empathy, and if he acts on them, it raises his instability. He wouldn't be able to do so on his own.
It's crazy to me that people actually believe his story could be standalone, or that he's somehow more important than Markus, the literal driver of the story. That anyone could think Connor's choice to remain machine or become a deviant is the "biggest choice" in the game is quite mind blowing to me. The biggest choice in the game is whether or not Markus chooses a Demonstration or a Revolution. That is the single most impactful choice in the game, the most influential choice, and the only choice that decides what kind of ending you get for every single character left. Connor's fate is irrelevant, because Markus can succeed without him. Markus can defeat him. The only thing Connor adds to the story is a different perspective to the journey to deviancy, as we see him from "birth" to "awakening".
I guess my point is, yes, you're right that Connor's choice to remain a machine or become deviant is heavily influenced by Markus - but also, it couldn't possibly be the biggest choice in the game, because his choice only affects his own fate, and at worst gives Markus an obstacle to overcome. It's silly to me that anyone would think that. Markus's decision for how they go about winning their freedom, however, is the only choice that impacts everyone, making that the biggest choice in the game.

Fun Enstars facts about event card distributuons:
- So Rei is the only character to have not received a 4* or a 5* in any of his unit’s song events (!! era). He has been a 3* in all of them
- Niki is the only character from a four person unit to have been a unit song event 4* twice in a row (obviously excluding Shuffles and the SS)
- Kohaku is the only character to receive two event 5*s in one rotation (excluding SS) (Kohaku’s Sudden Death 5* and his No Name Yet 5*). In fact Kohaku has had an event 5* in every event rotation so far
- In the first event rotation, the 3*s of a unit song event would be the 5*s and the 4*s of a unit’s tour event if the unit had four members or more. However, the one exception is CrazyB which had Rinne as the 5* for their tour (Night Club) and the 4* for the Honeycomb Summer event
- The 4* of an Alkaloid unit event was the 5* of a previous Alkaloid event (this makes me think the next Alkaloid song event will a Tatsumi 5* and a Hiiro 4*)
- Every member of Alkaloid received an event 5* in the current rotation (Obbligato Tatsumi, Sportsfes Aira, Vermillion Hiiro and Starfes Mayoi)

idk if you guys have seen the insider leak of a bunch of song titles and writing credits. tbh this stuff confuses me because like. there are so many questions as to why this was leaked and how whoever did it got their hands on it, how shitty of a thing is this to do etc. also like. idk if it's a grain of salt thing or a reliability thing but for some reason the sweetness and the only reason are on there listed under their respective writers. apparently all the song names are registered under whatever body you gotta do that with. sierra cowrote a bunch which is expected, some just luke, also expected. titles feel like youngblood went to therapy too right down to the halsey song title twin. you can seek it out if you're curious or wait for them to mail out more cryptic dice (no judgements here). no idea how real any of this is and it's not our business to know now til they release the track list. but does it line up with my predictions also yes so idk where i'm going with this. don't be the person who leaks stuff without permission (but we don't know what happened). do talk about 5sos6 bc I do think it's Very Much Real and is Worth The Hype (which is yet to become hyped though). anyway i'll stop telling you how to be a fan

Does Jiro has ghost like abilities (possession, ability to levitate things, etc etc) or does she just live in Shiro's head?
when i created this au, i thought the best option would be for her to be unable to interact with the physical world in any way(including possesion), beacuse i really wanted to lean into her isolation and how it affects her....... and while thats something i still want to emphasise here, lately ive been toying with the idea of jiro being able to impact the physical world somehow(though it still being fairly limited). i think letting her have some control could have a lot of potential! buuuut i also have no idea what abilities i want her to have lol
For now i think im not gonna give her any telekinetic abilities, bc i feel like it would be giving her too much power......... if she could throw shit, shed go APESHIT with it. it would made things too easy for her. i'm sorry babygirl but i'm NOT giving you the possibilty to throw knives and other sharp objects, i dont trust you to not kill someone:/
i really like the idea of her being able to temporarily posses her old body in certain circumstances tho- maybe when shiros uncouncious?? or like when hes is very tired or heavily injured she can kind of 'squeeze through' and take control back for a few minutes???? idk. i think this could be a very cool ability to give her- it cant be frequently used but can also be very helpful, and also theres so much potential for ✨shenanigans✨here>:) oh god i could put these fuckers in so many Situations with this..........
uhhh. so basically i think all of her influence on the physical world are through shiro. shes here bc of her connection to her old body, and thus its the only way for her to interact with anyone besides him- and shes NOT HAPPY about this(neither is shiro).
