Reposted from @beardbros_pharms (@get_regrann) - A congressional committee will debate two bills to federally legalize marijuana and several other pieces of cannabis research legislation this week, according to a briefing memo obtained by Marijuana Moment on Friday. - A House Energy and Commerce subcommittee is scheduled to hold a hearing on various reform proposals on Wednesday, with witnesses from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA)  set to testify. - This comes months after the House Judiciary Committee held a historic vote approving a comprehensive legalization bill sponsored by the panel’s chairman, Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY). That legislation—the Marijuana Opportunity, Reinvestment and Expungement (MORE) Act—will be one of two descheduling bills the Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health will take up. - The memo starts by providing context on the state of cannabis policy in the U.S., outlining research restrictions imposed under the Controlled Substances Act (CSA), the legalization of industrial hemp, past petitions to reschedule cannabis and public health issues. - DEA Senior Policy Advisor Matthew Strait, FDA Deputy Director for Regulatory Programs Douglas Throckmorton and NIDA Director Nora Volkow are listed as witnesses for the hearing. - Here are the bills that the committee will consider this week: - Full article at @beardbros_pharms 🌲🌲🔥🔥💨💨 #Beardbros_Pharms #BeardBrosMedia #BBMedia #BeardBrosDistribution #CannabisNews #cannabiscommunity #cannabis #marijuana https://www.instagram.com/p/B7RwZmnhyjS/?igshid=1v9zzwdskngod

Will Colorado be the first to embrace taste testing of cannabis❓ Also, how do you measure a single "taste" of cannabis❓ Oh, sounds like a 50mg microdose would be perfect 🙃 #Repost @kyky_onehitoneda ・・・ Colorado is embracing cannabis tasting....... Or micro-consumption if you will ☺️ You'll find our #microdosing devices on cannabis and dispensary tours nationwide, but legislation allowing adults the opportunity to "try before you buy" is a completely new paradigm for cannabis retail. 🌀🌀🌀🌀🌀🌀 From @denverpost #Repost @beardbros_pharms ・・・ Licensed marijuana “tasting rooms” could be operating in Colorado by this time next year if Gov. John Hickenlooper signs a first-of-its-kind bill that state lawmakers sent to his desk Thursday. The bill allows adults at current recreational marijuana retailers to consume small amounts through #edibles or by #vaping — as they might a flight of fine whiskeys or craft beers. House Bill 1258 would be another vanguard moment for a state that implemented first-in-the-nation adult-use cannabis sales back in 2014. - Industry observers say it also shows that #Colorado is taking baby steps toward a statewide regime for social marijuana use. “It’s a way to wrap our brains around what the regulatory structure would look like for public consumption,” said Peter Marcus, spokesman for Terrapin Care Station, a Colorado marijuana dispensary chain that supported the bill. Colorado law prohibits marijuana consumption in public spaces; however, the state is home to several unlicensed cannabis clubs. Also, the city of Denver has started issuing licenses after a voter-approved initiative for marijuana social-use establishments. - Continued In Comments - 🌲🌲🔥🔥💨💨 #losangeles #la #california #cannabiscommunity #cannabis #420 #marijuana #youseshwework #real #life #weshouldsmoke #beardbros_pharms  #yourfavoritegrowersfavoritegrower #EndMarijuanaProhibition #pesticidesnotincluded #cannabisnews (at Denver, Colorado)

Credit to from @hempinternational (@get_regrann) - Two new studies find that opioid-related deaths decline when states legalize access to marijuana. In fact, when adult-use cannabis laws are in place, the rate of opioid overdoses declines by at least 20 percent. - Both papers, published in the journal Economic Inquiry, not only show the impact of passing such laws, but also how dispensaries play a role in helping to quell these deaths. - The first study, helmed by researchers in Massachusetts and Colorado, claims to be the first to show the causal effects of access to recreational cannabis on #opioid mortality. - “We find that marijuana legalization causes a significant decline in opioid mortality— especially deaths from #synthetic opioids—with particularly pronounced benefits in states that have legalized recreational usage,” the study’s authors write. “Yet it is not legalization, per se, that produces these gains; rather, states that have legal access via dispensaries see the largest reductions in mortality.” - The study used three main sources of data: death rates involving all #opiates, prescription opioids and synthetic opioids from January 1999 through the end of 2017; the history of marijuana legalization in each state (including when legislation was passed and when dispensaries opened for business) and state-level demographic information. During the study period, 29 states had approved medical cannabis, while recreational marijuana was legalized in eight states plus the District of Columbia. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the number of opioid-related deaths has increased six times over between 1999 and 2017. Additionally, 36 percent of the 47,600 opioid overdoes in 2017 involved prescription opioids. - Cont. 📸: @beardbros_pharms ・ Authorities in Northern California destroyed more than 42,000 marijuana plants as part of an investigation into illegal cannabis farms on public and private land suspected of hurting the environment. - The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday that local, state and federal officials last week served 28 search warrants to marijuana farms without a permit along the Eel River in northern Mendocino County. - Officials suspect the farms polluted the water with trash, pesticides, generator fuel and damming watersheds. - No arrests were made, but the cases will be submitted to prosecutors at a later date. - The news comes on the heels of a new enforcement campaign, dubbed “Operation Clean Sweep,” announced by the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office. - The July 15-19 effort was a joint investigation by the sheriff’s office and state agencies such as the Department of Food and Agriculture, Department of Fish and Wildlife, Water Resource Board, Cal Fire and California Army National Guard. - Some industry blowback may be in the works, since rumblings of paramilitary raids have been making the rounds in the Emerald Triangle after sightings of Black Hawk helicopters and Army vehicles. - Some marijuana activists and industry insiders are discussing a possible protest in Sacramento to voice opposition to what they call “militarized enforcement.” - #BeardBrosMedia #Beardbros_Pharms #topshelf #topshelflife #hash #rosin #wedontsmokethesame #solventless #colorsofcannabis #highlife #frostynugs #dabdaily #dabs #420 #cannabis #cannabiscommunity #cannabisphotography #cannabisculture #cannabisphotographer #weedphotography #weedphotographer #growyourown #knowyourgrower #macro #420tv #nugmag #nugmagazine #caliweed (at Northern California) https://www.instagram.com/p/B0WyuNknrfi/?igshid=1qklcg3dxd0vx

#Repost @beardbros_pharms Alcohol and brain health do not go hand-in-hand. Luckily, cannabis can help repair some of that. - It’s easy to see the signals of alcohol damage to our brains, and they start the moment we begin to feel tipsy. The immediate effects of a few drinks start with slurred speech, uncoordinated movements, progressively worse decision making, and memory impairment. Drinking day in and day out compounds these effects, making alcohol one of the most dangerous substances there is. In a side by side comparison using 16 different criteria, alcohol tops them all. It is the most dangerous drug, no matter how you calculate it. - A new study from a team at the University of Colorado Boulder and the CU Change Lab is supplying even more evidence about alcohol and brain health. Their research reveals cannabinoids are far better for long term brain health than alcohol. Their data on cannabinoids is a surprising turn of events, considering we all grew up on anti-drug propaganda like the “This is Your Brain on Drugs” commercials from the 1990s. - What happens to your brain when you consume alcohol? What about cannabinoids? More importantly, what are each substance’s long term effects? We have more unbiased research into these areas than ever before and it’s worth re-examining our assumptions about cannabis on brain health, especially compared to the effects of alcohol. - Continued in Comments #Beardbros_Pharms #BeardBrosMedia https://www.instagram.com/p/ByiKHS7AXR7/?igshid=1pvqpj5p29gj3

#LoveIt #NoStixNoSeeds #SmokeSomethingRestaurant Reposted from @chef_m00re - #Repost @beardbros_pharms with @get_repost ・・・ Last December, the City of West Hollywood announced the arrival of cannabis consumption lounges and restaurants in 2019. Officials approved eight consumption licenses where smoking, vaping, and edibles would be permitted on-site. It was only a matter of time before the first cannabis restaurant came to light, and this one is by popular marijuana brand Lowell Herb Co. and will call the eatery Lowell Farms: A Cannabis Cafe, which hopes to open this summer. - The company recently signed a lease in West Hollywood, but is mum on the location. Judging from the renderings, Lowell Farms appears to be a rooftop restaurant with expansive views, a mostly outdoor dining area, communal tables, and live (non-cannabis) plants. - Andrea Drummer will lead in the kitchen and build cannabis into every dish. A veteran cannabis chef, Drummer produced private marijuana events throughout Los Angeles since 2012 with her business, Elevation VIP Coop. Her menu will feature fresh and seasonal dishes using Lowell’s cannabis which can include THC (which creates a high), the non-psychoactive CBD, or both. - State law prohibits the consumption of both alcochol and cannabis on the same premises, so Lowell Farms will make do without alcohol by placing an emphasis on teas, single-origin coffees, fresh juices, and smoothies. - Lowell Farms was initially named Flore, which might have caused confusion for those heading to eat at Flore Vegan in Silver Lake. As a cannabis product business, Lowell developed a following for producing stylish joints with a matchbox attached from naturally-grown cannabis. Construction has not commenced, so this story is still developing. - 🌲🌲🔥🔥💨💨 #Beardbros_Pharms #BeardBrosMedia #BBMedia #CannabisNews #losangeles #la #california #cannabiscommunity #cannabis #marijuana #real #life #weshouldsmoke https://www.instagram.com/p/BuZARc3HIq7/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1b60q16g8hdy8

Reposted from @beardbros_pharms Less than a week after the legal cannabis industry scored a big win with five states passing adult-use and medical legalization measures on their respective ballots, a new Gallup poll is reporting that 68 percent of Americans feel that marijuana should be legal. Not only is this the highest percentage of support ever recorded in a national Gallup poll, it means that nearly seven in ten Americans are in favor of legalization. - It’s also an issue that seems to transcend age demographics. According to the poll, 55 percent of adults ages 65 and older support adult-use legalization. However, there is still somewhat of a partisan divide. Only 48 percent of respondents who identify themselves as #Republicans support legalization, a drop from recent years. That figure is in marked contrast to the poll’s findings that report that 83 percent of #Democrats and 72 percent of #Independents support legalization. In a public statement, Erik Altieri, executive director of #NORML, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit focused on marijuana legalization, feels the Gallup findings are consistent with the sentiments expressed by #Americans in both the polls and at the ballot box. “The overwhelming majority of Americans favor ending the failed policies of marijuana prohibition and replacing it with a policy of legalization, regulation, taxation, and public education,” he said. “Elected officials — at both the state and federal level — ought to be listening.” - (Continued in Comments) 🌲🌲🔥🔥💨💨 #Beardbros_Pharms #BeardBrosMedia #BBMedia #BeardBrosDistribution #CannabisNews #cannabiscommunity #cannabis #marijuana https://www.instagram.com/p/CHdWzXfBvDn/?igshid=19isazki9zrqm

#repost "Alarmed that California's fledgling #legal marijuana industry is being undercut by the #blackmarket, a group of lawmakers proposed Thursday to reduce state taxes for three years on #growing and #selling cannabis to allow #licensed sellers to get on their feet. With many California license holders claiming they can't compete because of high state and local taxes, the new legislation would cut the state excise tax from 15% to 11% and suspend a cultivation tax that charges $148 per pound. - "Criminals do not pay business taxes, ensure consumers are 21 and over, obtain licenses or follow product safety regulations," said Assemblyman Tom Lackey (R-Palmdale), one of five legislators pushing the bill. "We need to give legal businesses some temporary tax relief so they do not continue to be undercut by the black market." California voters approved the 15% tax when they passed Proposition 64 in 2016, allowing legal growing, distribution and sales of marijuana for recreational use and requiring state licenses for the continued sale of pot for medical purposes. License holders began growing and selling pot on Jan. 1. - Legal growers say the excise and grower's taxes are a burden on top of local taxes adopted by cities and counties, as well as a sales tax that is as high as 9.2% in some counties. Combined, taxes can raise the price of marijuana sold legally by up to 45%, according to the Fitch credit rating agency. - Continued In Comments - 🌲🌲🔥🔥💨💨 #losangeles #la #california #cannabiscommunity #cannabis #420 #marijuana #youseshwework #real #life #weshouldsmoke #beardbros_pharms  #yourfavoritegrowersfavoritegrower #EndMarijuanaProhibition #pesticidesnotincluded #cannabisnews "

@Regranned from @beardbros_pharms - Gee... I can't imagine why big Pharma has encouraged the criminalization of cannabis?? (Insert extreme sarcasm here) ···································· One of the not-so-secret aspects of the fight against marijuana legalization is that pharmaceutical companies are actively campaigning against it out of fear they'll lose money. Well, according to a new report, Big Pharma actually does have a lot to fear. A recent report found that Big Pharma stands to lose as much as $4 billion per year if medical marijuana became legal in all 50 states. The information is based off a study from 2016 by the University of Georgia, which found that states with legalized medicinal cannabis had less Medicare prescriptions than those where it's still illegal. The study found that already pharmaceutical companies are losing $166 million annually on drugs where marijuana is now offered as an alternative. - The study also identified nine areas where medical marijuana will most affect Big Pharma: Anxiety, chronic pain, epilepsy, post-traumatic stress disorder, sleep disorders, nerve pain, chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting, Tourette syndrome and glaucoma. The researchers found that even if marijuana was only prescribed in a small percentage of these cases, pharmaceutical companies could lose as much as $4 to 5 billion. While that sounds like a tremendous amount of money, it's really just a small dip for the pharmaceutical industry, which is currently valued at $425 billion. And it's even less noteworthy when you consider those losses will be spread out amongst multiple companies. Pfizer, one of the largest Big Pharma companies, estimates they will only lose $500 million out of their $53 billion revenue due to medical marijuana. But we're guessing even with these small losses, Big Pharma is donating heavily to politicians who claim marijuana leads to drug addiction. - I'm sure that's just a coincidence. - 🌲🌲🔥🔥💨💨 #losangeles #la #california #cannabiscommunity #cannabis #420 #marijuana #youseshwework #real #life #weshouldsmoke #beardbros_pharms  #yourfavoritegrowersfavoritegrower #EndMarijuanaProhibition #pesticidesnotincluded #ripmicke
