The first time Neteyam saw you was when he was eight years old. He was used to seeing Spider around, but not you. You were new.
Trembling behind Spider it looked like you were trying to disappear. Barely peeking up over his shoulder to look. Neteyam's tail swished in curiosity as he observed you.
"Guys, this is Y/N." Spider introduced you while pushing you forward. "She's a little shy." He added.
Your big eyes looked up at the Na'vi children who towered over you. "Hi." You whispered with an awkward smile and a small wave. "You're really tall." You giggled.
Neteyam stared at you in awe immediately infatuated with you. You were unlike any sky person he had ever seen.
"You're just really short." Lo'ak snapped back rolling his eyes.
Neteyam noticed your smile falter and shoved his brother. Your smile was beautiful, the prettiest thing the young boy had ever seen. At that moment Neteyam decided you should always be smiling.
Spider explained to the group that you were born here like him. You had never left the lab before. This was the first time you saw the beauty of the forest and the first time you saw a Na'vi in the flesh. You were in awe of everything around you.
Spending the rest of the day playing with the other children you couldn't help but get distracted by your surroundings. The forest was alive it's beauty glowing all around you. You had the urge to explore every last inch of it.
Neteyam kept his eyes locked on you. He was worried that you'd get separated from the rest of them. You were small and delicate, unable to properly protect yourself, so Neteyam decided to protect you.
So that's how it was whenever you played with the Sully children. Neteyam always glued by your side. He couldn't explain it. The way he felt an immediate draw towards you. As if the two of you were meant to find each other.
Neytiri was less than thrilled to have another human child around her kids. One was bad enough. After everything humans had done to their home -to her - she despised them. She even had her doubts about the loyal few who stayed.
What made her even more unsure of you was the way her eldest son never left your side. Ever since Spider introduced you Neteyam was glued to your side. Had it been anyone else Neytiri would have found it endearing. But you were human. You were a demon.
A few years later Neytiri started to notice things about you. The way the forest left you in awe no matter how many times you’d seen it. She'd catch you gasping in excitement over the littlest things. It was as if you could see.
She also noticed the strong bond you had with her children, especially with Neteyam. She knew her son well. Neytiri was well aware of how he felt towards you. She feared the day that he realized his own feelings.
You were sitting in the forest with Neteyam next to you. His mother was across from the two of you. Neytiri was shooting daggers with her eyes at you. The stare made you shift uncomfortably. Neteyam picked up on it placing a gentle hand on your knee.
Neytiri observed how you immediately relaxed. The sweet genuine smiled you gave her son and how he gave you one of his own.
Neytiri had been trying to give Neteyam a lesson on arrow making. He had insisted that you join them since he promised to spend the afternoon with you. Much to her dismay, you were here unintentionally distracting him.
You felt something barely grace your shoulder. Figuring it was Neteyam you didn't pay it much mind. Then another tap on your head. One on your arm. Then your other shoulder.
Looking up, you met Neytiri's eyes. She was staring at you like she had seen a ghost. Starting to feel panicked you looked at your arms. You gasped as your eyes filled with wonder.
Several atokirina' floated around you. They danced up and down gently resting on you. Neteyam had the biggest smile on his face. To him it was confirmation the great mother saw you the way he did.
It was undoubtedly a sign from Eywa herself. Neytiri couldn't believe her eyes. Feeling a sense of déjà vu, she was brought back to the first time she met her mate.
Unable to shake what she had witnessed she went to her mother. After explaining the strange encounter Neytiri waited while Mo’at consulted with Eywa.
“Eywa sees the child.” Mo’at finally spoke. “The Great Mother has declared that she will spend the rest of her life by Neteyam.”
Neytiri couldn’t wrap her mind around it. The concept was so foreign to her. Eywa had accepted you as one of her own. Not only that, it was also her will that you stay by Neteyam. Neytiri would never question the will of Eywa. While she didn’t fully understand it she would have to learn to be okay with it.
From that day on, Neteyam’s mother treated you with a kindness she never had before. You didn’t know what happened for her to finally warm up to you but you were forever grateful she did.

Years went by and it was time for Neteyam to begin training for his iknimaya. You were so excited for him, knowing how important this rite of passage was to the Na'vi. There was a part of you that was downcast as he wouldn't be able to spend time with you every day like he usually does.
Your heart hurt because all you wanted was to be able to experience this with him. For as long as you could remember you wanted to be Na'vi. It was your birthday wish every year though you never told anyone out of embarrassment. That and it wouldn't come true if you told.
You and your brother had begged for avatars for years. Unfortunately the materials and funding needed just wasn’t there. Norm and Max wanted nothing more than to be able to grant your wishes, but it just wasn't a possibility.
"So how long are you going to be gone this time?"
Neteyam sighed. He could hear the disappointment in your voice and it broke his heart. "A month. Maybe two."
You felt like you could burst into tears right then and there. Neteyam was your best friend, not to mention your crush for as long as you could remember. You couldn't imagine not seeing him for that long.
"I'll be back before you know it." Gently he brushed hair out of your face. As much as he loved seeing you in the forest he treasured the moments in your room without your mask. Neteyam loved to see your face without the glass restricting his view.
"Don't forget about me." You playfully pushed him.
He gasped in mock offense. "I could never." He smiled. Before he could stop himself he placed a kiss on your forehead.
Stopping dead in his tracks he pulled back. The pair of you stilled blushes adoring both of your cheeks.
Neteyam tried to burry his feelings for you but it was impossible. He had fallen helplessly in love with his best friend. Not caring that you were human he couldn't deny his feelings. He just wasn't sure how to tell you.
Before you knew it, you were throwing your arms around him as you hugged him goodbye. You went to pull away but he kept you in his embrace for a little longer.
"I'm gonna miss you." He sighed.
"You're going to have so much fun you won't even think about me."
"That's not true you're always on my mind." He blushed.
A blush engulfed your face and you bit your lip. You noticed Neteyam's tail swishing back and forth. Looking up at him he was smiling back at you. His cheeks were slightly tinted.
Standing back with the rest of his family you waved as he joined the other young warriors. "He'll be back before you know it." Spider smiled knowingly at you.
No matter how hard you tried you couldn't keep your crush from your bother. He immediately figured it out. Little did you know most everyone had figured it out. The only ones who hadn't were you and Neteyam.
Neytiri watched you with a smile on her face. As time passed she accepted the idea of you with her son. Finding amusement in the two of you pining after each other.
The time without Neteyam dragged on for what felt like an eternity. Spider did his best to keep you occupied as did the Sully siblings. But your mind never strayed far from the boy your heart beat for.
You were getting ready for bed after a long day. Neteyam was halfway through his training by now. You had been counting down the days to his return.
A knock on your door interrupted your thoughts. Norm stood awkwardly in the doorway. “You have a visitor.” He informed you.
Furrowing your eyebrows you looked at him confused. It was way past the curfew set for the lab. “Who?”
Before he could answer you Lo’ak pushed passed him and entered your room. He look frustrated and exhausted.
“What are you doing here Lo’ak?” You asked afraid that something was wrong.
Without saying a word he removed the communicator from his neck and handed it to you. “This is for you.” Was all he said.
You looked over the tech not understanding why he was giving it to you especially now of all times. “I’ve been trying to sleep for hours. He won’t leave me alone until he speaks with you.”
Your face lit up knowing exactly who he was. Wasting no time you pressed the button. “Neteyam?” You hesitantly asked.
“Oh Eywa how I’ve missed your voice.” Neteyam’s voice rang through the speaker.
“Yeah I’m not staying to listen to this.” Lo’ak deadpanned before leaving.
Neteyam missed you terribly and begged his father to let him speak with you. Jake felt like it would be a distraction so he didn't allow it. So Neteyam came up with the brilliant idea to pester his little brother until he gave it. It worked rather quickly.
You spent the whole night talking to Neteyam. He told you all about his training not sparing a single detail. He was more interested in what you had been up to. He just wanted to hear your voice.
The day Neteyam was to return was finally here. You and Spider sprinted through the forest heading towards the village. By the time you got there he had already returned.
Searching the crowd you finally saw him. Knees weak your breath caught in your throat. Somehow he looked taller. His mussels were more defined, shoulders wider, and his face sharper. He was no longer a boy. He looked like a man.
You had always wanted Neteyam but this was different. In that moment your want for him was something you hadn't experienced before. It almost felt wrong. Almost.
Neteyam searched the crowd for you. Eyes glancing over a figure that was familiar he did a double take. It was you. You looked different.
Neteyam gulped as he took in your new features. Your hips wider and chest fuller you no longer looked like the little kid everyone was so used to. Neteyam noticed your hair was shorter, resting at just below your shoulders now.
You were beautiful. Absolutely breathtaking. A gift from Eywa herself. A primal urge came over him, a desire to take you right then and there. You were to be his mate, he felt that you were destined.
"Neteyam!" You squealed running into his arms. He picked you up twirling you in the air like you weighed nothing.
"I missed you Ma'Y/N." He snuggled his face into your neck.
You bit your lip at the pet name. It was usually reserved for mated couples but Neteyam couldn't help but let it slip.
As the weeks passed on the attraction between the two of was stronger than ever. Stolen glances and intentional accidental touches filled your days.
After Neteyam successfully claimed his Ikran earning his spot among the people he would take you for rides.
"I knew you could do it. I'm so proud of you." You looked up at him.
The look you gave him made his heart flutter. A strange satisfaction overcame him knowing that you were proud of him. He wanted you to be proud of him.
That night he walked you back to the lab following you to your room. He desperately needed to speak with you. He had been working up the courage all night.
Neteyam sat next to you on your bed. He loved the moments you shared without your mask in the way. Staring into your eyes without anything in front of them.
"I have earned my place among the people." He said suddenly.
You nodded slowly not sure where he was going with this. "I know I was there." You giggled.
"I may now chose a mate."
Your heart dropped. So this was why he wanted to talk. He was here to tell you that he found someone. He probably wanted you to leave him alone now.
Anxiety flooded your mind as you felt stupid. A part of you actually thought he liked you back. Why would he? You weren’t even the same species. You had nothing to offer him.
“I see.” You gave your best fake smile. “Who’s the lucky girl then?” You had to know.
“You.” Neteyam said without hesitation.
“I’m sorry what?” You asked. There was no way you heard that right.
“You, if you’ll have me.” He looked away shy. He took your confusion as rejection. “I want you to be my mate Y/N.”
“Are you sure?” You asked dumbfounded.
Neteyam cupped your face in his palms. “I see you Y/N.”
Your heart sped up at the phrase you found so beautiful and so terrifying at the same time. He saw you. Every broken piece, every imperfection, all of your good qualities as well as the bad ones, and he still wanted you anyways.
He wanted you despite it all. Neteyam saw you.
“I am human Neteyam.” You said. You needed him to be sure of his choice. Na’vi mate for Life. Of course you wanted to spend the rest of your life with him, but you needed to be sure he wouldn’t regret it.
“I know. That changes nothing.”
“I cannot make Tsaheylu.” The bond was the building block of life on Pandora. It was vital to their existence. They bonded with their mates, you would be unable to bond with him in this way.
“I know. But I see you anyways.” He confessed.
“I’ll never be tsahík.”
“None of that matters to me Y/N. Stop trying to give me reasons to not want you. It won’t work.”
Looking down in shame you gave him one last reason. “I can’t give you children Neteyam. You’d be making so many sacrifices just to have me. It’s not an equal trade.”
“That’s where you’re wrong.” He smiled. “You are all I want. It’s always been you Y/N. Always. Nothing else matters when you are enough for me.”
Neteyam leaned in as if he was about to kiss you. “You are what I want Y/N.”
“You are what I want too.” You breathed. “I see you Neteyam.
That was all he needed to hear. He crashed his lips onto yours passionately kissing you. Lips moving in sync until you pulled away to catch your breath.
Staring into his golden eyes you removed your shirt leaving your chest bare before him. Neteyam’s eyes widened at your sudden action. He wasn’t expecting anything to happen, he was happy with kissing.
“We don’t have to do anything Ma’Y/N.”
There was that name again. You smiled. “I want to. I want you Neteyam. That is, if you’ll have me.” You batted your eyelashes at him.
His tail twitched in excitement before he tackled you back onto the bed. The two of you spent the night a tangled mess of limbs. “We are mated before Eywa for life.” Neteyam whispered into your ear before you drifted off into a peaceful sleep.
Tumblr media
It had been two years since you mated with Neteyam. It had been the best years of your life.
His family was immediately accepting of your relationship. To your surprise so was most of the clan. There were a few that frowned upon your union but Neteyam made sure to put them in their place.
Following Neteyam’s lead you ran through the forest. He made sure to keep looking back for you so the two of you wouldn’t get separated.
“So where are we going again?” You huffed out of breath.
“It’s a surprise.” He smiled back at you.
Neteyam took you to a clearing that had the most beautiful flowers you had ever seen. You were fascinated by the nature of Pandora.
“I wish I could smell them.” You sighed. Always longing to smell the fresh air and to feel the breeze on your face.
Neteyam frowned at your words. He too hated your mask, but it kept you alive. It allowed him to show you his home. To Neteyam it was worth the inconvenience.
“Come on, let’s keep going.” He smiled. “There’s something else I wanna show you.”
Without a second thought you followed him. Starting to feel faint you slowed down. Everything was getting blurry and your head was woozy.
"Neteyam, could you slow down a little?" You panted, pushing your hand against a tree for support. "I'm a little dizzy."
Stopping dead in his tracks he rushed over to you. His mind racing with a million different thoughts. His heart screaming at him to protect you. Not looking good at all your face had gone pale. Your eyes looked exhausted. You looked ill.
"I will take you to my grandmother. You do not look good Ma'Y/N."
"I'm fine Teyam." You attempted a smile to reassure him. The last thing you wanted was to be rushed into the village. The People were used to you, but having the Tsahík tend to a sky demon may be pushing your luck. "Just take me back to the lab please."
Scooping you up he held you close to his chest bridal style. "Neteyam, I could've walked. I'm not broken." You rolled your eyes. Ignoring your protests he continued the trek back to the lab. Something was wrong and you were unwell.
Gently setting you down at the lab entrance he insisted that he come in with you. Neteyam was still slightly unsure of sky people, the lab making him nervous. But this was different. Anxiety consumed him and he couldn't leave without making sure you were okay.
Taking your mask off you then offered Neteyam a mask of his own. He hastily took it eyes never leaving you. The last thing on his mind was a mask for himself. He could breath this air for hours anyways.
Walking the familiar hallways to your room he observed your small steps. Gently panting as if the walk was tiring you out. You insisted you were fine but your body language said otherwise.
Plopping down on your bed you made grabby hands reaching out for him. "Cuddle me." You playfully commanded. Smiling he complied gently laying down next to you, arms instinctively pulling you closer.
Taking a deep breath letting your scent fill his lungs he hummed. Neteyam gently peppered a few kisses to your face before burying his head in your neck.
"Neteyam stop." You giggled. "It tickles." You could feel his smile against your neck. Running your free hand through his braids you sighed in satisfaction. Moments like this made up for all the bad ones.
You felt so safe in his arms, like he could protect you from anything. And he would. He'd burn the whole world if it meant keeping you safe.
"Teyam?" You whispered fingers still playing with his hair. He hummed in response snuggling closer to you. "I love you to the moon and back."
The expression felt odd rolling off your tongue. Checks heated in a blush you were a bit embarrassed. After all, you found it to be incredibly cheesy. But there was a part of you that found the sentiment sweet.
You'd first read it engraved on a tiny silver necklace. It had belonged to your mother. One of the scientists gave it to you once you were older. It was the only thing you had of her. Everything else was left up to your imagination.
For years they tried to allude to the fact that your mother had passed away. It seemed easier to let you believe that than tell you the truth. But even though you were a child you weren't clueless. You knew that your mother had left you here.
Terrified of everything that had happened she went back to earth unable to take you with her. That's how you found yourself being raised by the scientists on Pandora with Spider as your honorary brother.
A small part of you cling to the saying. Wishing it was true, that your mother loved you to the moon and back - to Pandora and back. That one day she'd be back for you.
You knew it would never happen. So instead you say it to Neteyam.  Because you truly meant it. You would go to the moon and back for him. And you would be back. You'd always come back for him.
Neteyam's ears perked up at your words. It wasn't the first time you had told him you loved him but you had never said it like this. He didn't entirely understand it but he appreciated your words just the same.
Smiling at you like you were the most precious thing he ever laid his eyes on. "I will give you the moon my love."
Laughing you pulled him closer. "You can't give someone the moon Neteyam."
But he would for you. You were his moon, his stars, and everything in between. Whatever you asked for he would deliver. "If I could give you the moon, I would give you the moon." He confirmed.
"You're a dork." You giggled.
"So are you then. You started it." He playfully fired back. Neteyam's mind turned somber for a moment. "Are you feeling better?"
You nodded cuddling more into your mattress to get comfy. "Much better. I think I need more cuddles to be one hundred percent though."
Smiling, Neteyam snuggled into you. "I'm more than happy to assist."
As the weeks went by you continued to feel strange. It didn’t seem like a big deal to you, so you didn’t want to bring it up. After all, you were human. Getting sick was a part of every day life.
No one noticed how you were acting strange. Except Neteyam of course. He picked up on the way you always seemed tired. The way your eyes looked a bit dull as they stared off into space. No matter how hard you tried to hide it, he saw it all.
You were now having trouble keeping your meals down. Stomach always feeling like it was in knots you didn’t know what was wrong. No one had caught you throwing up yet, but they did start to notice how you were losing weight without trying.
Norm awkwardly tried to broach the subject as always trying to be the father you never had. He was afraid you were doing something self inflicted and wanted to support you in any way he could.
It took awhile but you were able to convince him it wasn't what he thought. You honestly didn't know what was wrong, you just one day started feeling sick.
Norm being the man of science that he was immediately wanted to start tests to get to the bottom of what was wrong. Somehow you managed to get him to hold off for awhile. The idea of going through a bunch of tests scared you.
You didn’t get out of it for very long. Neteyam was worried sick about you and insisted you do whatever was needed to get better. Reluctantly you agreed spending the next several days undergoing tests and blood work.
Neteyam even took you to his grandmother for her guidance. She wasn’t able to pinpoint what was wrong. Whatever you had was a human sickness, unknown to the Na’vi.
Jake took a special interest in what was wrong. He was once a human himself. He was well aware of everything that could go wrong with the human body. Plus he deeply cared for his daughter in law. Jake consulted with Norm regularly regarding his findings.
The Olo'eyktan thought it’d be best if he was one of the first to find out. That way he would be able to explain it to his family better. He was by no means a doctor but he knew his son would trust his words more than Norm’s.
He could see the way Neteyam looked like his was close to having a melt down. He had a forced calmness about him. As if he was in complete denial that something might be wrong. Because he was. If he refused to acknowledge it, it wouldn’t be real.
Tumblr media
"Leukemia." Norm spoke like that one simple word explained everything. Jake's breath caught in his throat at the word. Neteyam stood head moving back and forth between the two of them, waiting for an explanation.
His heart hammered in his chest as they spoke words that meant nothing to him. Human words he didn't know. "How long?" His father asked quietly.
"It's progressed rather quickly. She had been exhibiting symptoms for a few months now. It's hard to say how long she's had it."
Neteyam knew they were talking about you. Dread filled him and he felt sick to his stomach. The feeling of being left in the dark was too much for him, he felt like he could scream.
"How long does she have?" Jake asked again eyes screwed onto Norm. He spoke hushed this time. Jake wasn't a fool. He was well aware of his son's feelings towards you. In fact, the whole clan knew.
How long does she have? The words echoed in Neteyam's brain. Repeating over and over again. They couldn't be talking about your life could they? You were just a little sick, you had said so yourself. This couldn't be real he refused to believe it.
"I've estimated three years." Max spoke up. "She has a thirty percent chance."
Thirty. That was low wasn't it? There was no possible way you'd have such a low chance. The science geeks were the best of the best. You'd also have access to the remedies of the Na'vi. Most importantly you'd have Neteyam. He made a vow to take care of and protect you. He indented to keep that vow.
"What are her opinions? What can we do?" Jake needed all the information he could get if he was going to have to explain this to his son.
"Chemo would be the next step. It's going to be hard, she's already so weak. It's going to take a lot out of her."
Jake glanced over at his son. Neteyam looked like he was on the verge of a panic attack. Hell, he was on the verge of a panic attack. His eyes were wide as he stared at his father, pleading for an answer.
Jake sighed, "Would she have a better chance back on Earth? Can we even give her proper care here?"
Earth? You couldn't go to earth. Neteyam refused to allow it. If you left he'd never see you again. He wouldn't be able to care for you while you're sick. He also wouldn't know how you were doing - he wouldn't know if you were still breathing or not.
His mouth hung open as his brain tried to register this. "She can't go to earth dad." He said just above a whisper. "She can't go!" He said again this time yelling desperately at his father.
"Calm down boy." Jake hushed him placing a hand on his shoulder. "Let them speak."
"She's not going anywhere." Norm said trying to choose his words carefully. "Her immune system is weak right now. I don't think she would survive the trip. I think it's best to treat her here with what we have available."
Tears stung Neteyam's eyes as he stared at the ground. You were so sick you wouldn't survive the trip to earth. Would you even survive here? He came to the horrific realization that you were sick and you might be dying.
"She's strong though." Jake said more so to his son. "She can fight this."
Max and Norm looked at each other with sad smiles. Neither doubted your strength, you were one of the strongest people they knew. But this was different. They had to entertain the possibility that even if you fight with your all you could lose. They also knew that they didn't have everything needed to properly treat you. But for the sake of the broken boy in front of them they left that part out.
Tumblr media
Staying positive was hard but you gave it your best try. You felt weak but it wasn’t insufferable yet. The worst part of it was you couldn’t go out exploring like you were accustomed to.
Your friends made sure to keep you company. Your room become the unofficial official hangout spot. Lo’ak and Spider would play games with you, Kiri kept you up to date on all of the gossip in the village, Tuk insisted that the two of you color, and Neteyam? Neteyam never left your side.
He was there not long after your woke up and often times he stayed the night. Neteyam never wanted to leave your side, wanting to make sure you were cared for in any way possible. He would be there every step of the way.
When it was time for chemo you felt extremely anxious. As Norm prepared the IV Neteyam eyed the needle untrustworthily. You winced as it went into your arm. Neteyam hissed ready to throw Norm across the room for causing you pain.
Norm panicked and you quickly explained to Neteyam that it was okay. It only hurt for a few minutes. You had to deal with it. You needed the treatment to get better.
Neteyam cuddled up next to you holding your hand. He tried to do things to distract you from it. The pair of you would watch movies from back on earth. You taught him how to play uno. He could never beat you and it frustrated him to no end. He was close to throwing his cards in anger. Seeing him be such a sore looser made you laugh.
Neteyam loved your laugh. He didn’t hear it much anymore so it was his life’s mission to make you laugh as much as he could.
He believed you’d make a full recovery. This was simply a bump in the road.
Tumblr media
"Please don't let him in." You pleaded with Spider. "I don't want him to see me like this." Tears were stinging your eyes now.
Spider looked sympathetically at you. You tried so hard to be strong for everyone but it was wearing down on you. This was effecting you worse than you thought it would. All you wanted to sulk in your room by yourself.
"He's freaking out Y/N. I'm afraid he's gonna start breaking stuff." He chuckled. Gently placing his hand on your shoulder his concerned look returned. "He cares about you. A lot. He just wants to make sure you're okay."
Nodding your head you wiped your face with your hands. You didn't want him to see that you had been crying. "Okay. Let him in."
Spider went off to find Neteyam it didn't take him too long thanks to the commotion he was causing. "You cannot keep me here!" Neteyam bellowed.
He tried to moved around the crowd of scientists who were attempting to keep him back. Neteyam growled in frustration. "Y/N is my mate you cannot keep me from her."
"Bro, calm down!" Spider yelled as Neteyam went to throw something off of a desk. He stopped as soon as he heard Spider. Neteyam's shoulders relaxed slightly at the familiar face.
"They are trying to keep me away." He snapped.
"Yeah I can see that." Spider huffed. "If you're done with your temper tantrum Y/N is ready to see you."
Raising his head high Neteyam walked past the scientists smugly. When out of earshot he bent down to Spider "They said Y/N did not want to see me." His face etched with worry.
Sighing Spider ran his hand over his face. "She's upset right now. It's not my place to say. She needs to be the one to tell you. But she's upset and embarrassed right now. She didn't want you to see her like that."
Neteyam's heart clenched at his words. The thought of you being so upset that you didn't want to see him crushed him. Walking into your room he was preparing for the worst.
You were sitting in your bed with your hands folded in your lap. Staring down you were avoiding his gaze.
He looked you up and down to see if their was any visible signs of what was wrong. If there was a problem Neteyam wanted to attack it head on. Your sickness wasn't like that though. He had to sit and watch helplessly as you suffered. It consumed him to the point he lived in constant agony.
Nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Except your eyes were red and puffy like you had been crying. You were crying. Why were you crying? Neteyam's protective side took the forefront once again, ready to crush whatever had upset you.
Rushing to your side he cupped your cheek with his hand. "Ma'love what's wrong?" Worried etched on his face.
"You can have these back. I don't need them anymore." You sniffed. Your closed hands reached out to his. Opening your hands you gently poured the contents into his.
Neteyam stilled as his beads spilled into his hands. They were the beads he had given to you. He loved seeing you proudly wearing them in your hair, letting everyone see you were his.
"You don't want them anymore?" He softly asked. It felt like a punch to the gut. It was as if you were rejecting him.
"I won't be able to wear them anymore Neteyam." Meeting his gaze your heart broke seeing his face. He didn't understand why you were returning his gift to you.
"My hair is falling out Neteyam." You sighed.
"I do not understand." His brow furrowed trying to put the pieces together.
"The chemo- the medicine makes my hair fall out." You tried to explain.
Spider walked over and put his hand on your shoulder for support. He viewed you as his little sister. It hurt him to see you suffering like this.
Neteyam didn't understand how this medicine was helping you if it was making it so hard on you. Human medicine was more complicated than the Na'vi remedies he was used to.
You knew that he was genuinely curious and just trying to understand but you were tired if talking about it. You knew you would eventually lose your hair but you thought you could handle it.
Everything was too much. You hadn't really felt sick until now. When you noticed your hair coming out in clumps it all became real. You were sick.
Spider found you in a fit of sobs. It broke his heart to see you like that. It also sent him into a panic. He didn't know what to do to make you feel better. He was your big brother, he was supposed to know everything.
"Norm gave me this." Sighing you pulled out hair clippers. "He said it might be easier to just go ahead and shave my head." Tears stung your eyes again. "I just don't know if I can."
Without thinking Spider took the clippers from you. "I'll go first." He declared.
Eyes widening in panic you tried to stop him. "Wait Spider! You don't have to do that." Before you could get another word out he turned them on and quickly swiped along the top of his head.
You and Neteyam stared at him with wide eyes. Dumbfounded you couldn't believe your brother just did that. He did it for you. You couldn't help the small smile that formed. Knowing that your brother loved you that much made your heart swell.
"Are you guys just gonna stare at me or are you gonna help me finish this up?" Spider asked with a smirk.
Once finished Spider was almost unrecognizable. "I can't believe you did that." You mumble as he helped you with your hair.
"It's not a big deal." He shrugged. "It was weighing me down anyways. I'll be faster now."
You rolled your eyes at your brother's odd logic. Neteyam was holding onto your hand watching Spider like a hawk. The idea of taking a blade to your head terrified him even though you assured him it was safe.
Gently you squeezed his hand. “I’m okay.” You assured him. He nodded bringing your hand up to his lips, tenderly kissing your knuckles. “I love you.” His whispered lips still pressed to your fingers.
Usually you stuck to the Na’vi terms of affection. It was what Neteyam was comfortable with. But after learning what the human phrase meant he had to use it. Because it was true. He loved you with every fiber of his being.
Tugging his hand to your lips you gave his knuckles a matching kiss. “I love you too. So so much.”
“Come on guys knock it off.” Spider complained pretending to be sick. As much as your constant shows of affection annoyed him he was glad you found someone who truly loved you.
The next day Neteyam came to visit you with his hands behind his back. You eyed him suspiciously, he was never good at keeping secrets from you.
“I made this for you last night.” He gently placed a bracelet in your lap. You gasped when you realized it was made of the beads he had originally given you for your hair.
“You said you couldn’t wear them anymore and now that’s not true.”
Carefully you put the bracelet on. Heart bursting at the sweet gesture tears began to spill from your eyes. Neteyam started to panic thinking be did something wrong.
“You are not happy with it?” He asked defeated. “You are crying.”
“Yes but they’re happy tears. I love it Neteyam. I love you.” You threw your arms around his neck. Smiling he pulled you closer into his chest.
“Oel ngati kameie.” He whispered into your neck.
“I see you Ma’Teyam.”
Tumblr media
"I'm dying Neteyam." You said without any hesitation or emotion.
Neteyam immediately sat up looking to you slightly begging that he heard you wrong. It couldn't be true. It couldn't be.
"No one's told you because they're afraid of how you'll react. I don't want to keep anything from you. Love you too much to do that." Your eyes met his through your mask. He felt his heart breaking not only from your words but your eyes. They were faded, lacking the light he loved so much.
"They didn't want to tell me either." Your hoarse voice kept on. "But it's hard to pull a fast one over on me when I'm like this." Chuckling at yourself Neteyam caught a glimpse of you. The real you. Not this pitiful shell of who you once were.
"The treatment stopped working months ago. They told me last week."
Bringing your hand to his mouth he gently kissed your knuckles. "Please do not say such things." His voice cracked. Tears were now freely flowing from his eyes.
Deep down in his heart he knew he was losing you. He just didn't want to believe it. He couldn't believe it. Acknowledging it made it feel real and there was no way this was real. It had to be a cruel nightmare.
"I'm tired Neteyam." You spoke quietly.
Unsure of what you meant he was ready to scoop you up and tuck you into bed. Somehow you had convinced him to go star gazing tonight. It had seemed like the perfect date night idea since you were always cooped up in your room. But now he kicked himself for allowing you to leave.
"Let's get you back then," he started shuffling."
"No Neteyam." You interrupted him stopping him in his tracks. "I'm tired of this." You gestured to yourself. "I'm tired of treatments that aren't working. Tired of being stuck in my room all day. Im tired of it all." You sighed.
"This isn't living Neteyam. It's waiting to die." Meeting his eyes your heart sank. He was finally registering your words. Neteyam looked at you like you had just pierced his heart with an arrow. "I'm tired of waiting."
You had been battling this for over a year now. It had taken its toll on you physically and emotionally. You didn’t know how much longer you could go on like this.
"What are you saying Y/N?" He asked trying his best to stay calm but miserably failing. His hands were shaking and his heart quickened.
"I asked Norm and Max about how I could speed it up."
Neteyam heard his heart shatter into a million pieces. You wanted to end your life. You wanted to leave him. You couldn't possibly want to leave him could you?
Tears were freely falling from his eyes. His body started to shake fighting off sobs.
"I'm not getting any better Neteyam." You gently placed your hand on his cheek wiping away his tears with your thumb.
This wasn't what you wanted but you saw no other way. Everyday was a struggle, even breathing hurt. You wanted Neteyam to see what you already accepted. This was a waiting game. You were never going to recover.
"No." He violently shook his head holding you to his chest. "No. You'll get better. We just need to try something else. Please." He begged.
"Ma'Teyam there's nothing left to try."
"Please. You can't leave me." His body shook with sobs. "I can't lose you Ma'Y/N."
You couldn't fight back your own tears. Your mask was fogging as you started to cry. Seeing your mate like this was as painful as your sickness.
"You're not gonna lose me love. Nothing is ever lost, remember?" You tried your best to comfort him.
"There has to be something we can try." He sobbed. "What about an avatar?"
You held his head in your chest while he cried. "They can't make anymore avatars. You know that."
"I can't do this without you. There has to be something." Neteyam wailed.
The sight broke your heart. You had exhausted all of your options. Everyone but Neteyam seemed to recognize it.
"I won't do anything without your blessing Ma'Teyam." You gently caressed his head. "But please try to understand my point of view."
"You cannot ask this of me. I can't." He shook his head.
Gently rocking you soothed the boy in your arms. He had a vice like grip on you as if you'd vanish into thin air. "It'll okay Ma'Teyam." You cooed.
You had informed Norm and Max of your plan. It broke their heart but they acknowledged that it was your decision. They would respect your wishes.
Norm found himself in your room in the middle of the night watching you sleep. It pained him to see your labored breaths. You were always so fill of light and now you looked like a hollow shell.
He'd known you your whole life. It broke his heart to know that your time was running out. It seemed like just yesterday you were a bubbly toddler getting into trouble in the lab.
You told Jake and Neytiri next. For some reason you were terrified of what your in laws would think of you. While this was something common amongst humans it was very rare to the Na'vi.
Jake was once human though. It hurt his heart to see that it came to this but he understood. While his disability wasn't terminal he knew the feeling of hopelessness. The feeling of being trapped inside what once was you. Your body becoming a prison. Jake knew better than anyone.
Neytiri didn't understand why you wished this until she saw you. She couldn't contain her gasp. No longer the child she has grown to care for, you were someone she didn’t recognize.
Smiling weakly at her Neytiri’s heart broke for you. She could see that you were dying but she couldn’t understand why. It was the great mother’s will that you would stay with Neteyam. Why would she allow you to die so soon?
Then it hit her. The words of her mother. You would spend the rest of your life beside Neteyam. Your life would end before his. Seeing you like this made her realize why you wanted this. You weren’t yourself, you were tapped inside a body that was failing you.
Spider was unusually quiet when you told him. “Spider please say something.” You pleaded.
He knew it was coming. He’d be a fool not to. But he was like everyone else who loved you, he didn’t want to believe it was happening. All of his earliest memories included you. You may have only been siblings because of circumstance but he loved you like you were blood.
You were undoubtedly his sister. Always there for him for as long as he could remember. Someone who always had his back. You understood the feeling of being abandoned here and the longing of wanting more. You were his person. And now you weren’t going to be here anymore.
Spider stood up and hugged you. He was slightly crying into your shoulder. You had never seen your big brother cry. He was your rock always strong and dependable.
“I’m sorry Spider.” You cried with him.
“Hey,” he pulled back to look at you. “Don’t ever be sorry. None of this is your fault.”
Nodding through your tears you took in the sight of him. His hair was growing back so fast leaving him with a nice short cut.
“You know I love you right?” He asked unsure for a moment. He had to make sure you knew. Spider wouldn’t be able to live with himself If you didn’t.
“Of course. I love you too bro.”
The two of you spent the rest of the day talking about everything and nothing all at once. It would be one of the last times you got to.
When it came to telling Neteyam he already knew. Your confirmation was like stones in his heart. But he knew. Deep down he always knew. You were never getting better.
Being cooped up in your room wasn't much of a life. You were in pain and it pained him to witness it. Neteyam never wished to part from you but this wasn't his choice to make.
He knew that had there been any other way you wouldn't had made the choice either.
You wanted one last day. One last good day.
Looking at your room one last time you shut the door. You had breakfast with Norm and Spider just like you always did growing up. Max even joined you.
No one talked about what was to come. You forbid any talk of the future only wanted to live in the here and now.
Spider helped you put on your mask and the two of you slowly made your way to the village. He helped you into the Sully home. You were terrified of everyone being somber, but to your delight everyone acted as normal.
You hadn’t laughed this much in months watching Spider reenact a story of one of the many times Lo’ak almost got himself killed.
Laughter, hugs, and smiles was how you spent your time with the Sully’s. It was perfect just like it always was. Neteyam kept you sat on his lap not wanting to lose contact for a second.
Taking a deep breath he inhaled your scent. It had changed when you got sick. It didn’t smell like you. It made him frown.
Insisting on going on an Ikran ride you drug Neteyam out of his family’s tent. Neytiri stopped you before you got too far. Embracing you one last time. “Thank you for watching over him my child.” Before you could say a word she kissed your forehead and left you with watery eyes.
Neteyam didn’t want to focus on sadness right now. You were still here that’s all that mattered. Taking your hand once again you were greeted with his Ikran.
“You sure you feel up to this?” He checked in.
“Hell yeah.” You smirked at him.
Flying through air was a feeling you’d never get used to. Up there you were truly free. Sticking your arms out to intensify the feeling Neteyam cursed at your sudden movement. His grip tightening around you.
“Let me know before you do something like that.” He scolded.
“You worry too much!” You yelled over the wind. “You’ve taken me on a million rides and haven’t dropped me yet.”
Neteyam smiled at you. Today you were glowing with a glimpse of yourself. Not the person who had been while sick. The real you. It made his heart clench. It pained him but he knew you were right. This was the right choice.
He would rather see you like this than just slowly waste away to nothing. I wanna go out with a bang. You had told him.
Eclipse crept up on the couple as you laid on the ground tangled up in each other. "I love you so much." You told him tears threatening to spill. He kissed your knuckles. "I love you to the moon and back." He whispered.
Smiling fondly at the memory from what felt like an entirety ago. "I can't believe you remember that." You laughed.
He chuckled. Neteyam had spent years committing every part of you to memory. He found your surprise amusing. Of course he’d remember. He remembered it all.
You stayed in his embrace until you couldn't keep your eyes open any longer. "I'm ready Neteyam." You breathed.
He nodded blinking back tears. "I see you Ma'Y/N." He gently caressed your face the best he could.
"I see you Ma'Teyam." You grabbed his hand. "Don't worry I'll see you again. Take your time my love."
"Anything for you my moon." He smiled.
As gently as he could he removed your mask. Taking a deep breath in you smiled as you inhaled the scents of the forest. It smelt even better than you imagined.
Neteyam laid next to you holding your hand looking up to the sky. You admired the stars before glancing over at Neteyam. He met your eyes and smiled. Your breathes were started to become labored. "It's okay love. You can rest now." He said fighting back a sob.
Your vision was turning black around the edges. Neteyam was talking to you but you couldn’t register what he was saying. Slowly your eyes closed. Your chest stopped. Just like that you were gone.
This was exactly how you asked. Neteyam fulfilled every last one of your wishes even if it killed him inside. Your whole life you wanted nothing more than to experience Pandora without any restrictions. And in that brief moment you did.
Neteyam held onto your lifeless body as he sobbed. He knew it was happening but nothing would prepare him for the feeling of you actually being gone.
His love. His mate. His best friend. His moon and stars. Gone forever. You were gone and there was nothing he could do to bring you back.
His body shook as he wailed. Neteyam realized that because you were human you were never connected to the spirit tree. He would never be able to see you again. He would never see you again.
Neteyam spent the whole night grieving you. He knew it was just the beginning of many sleepless nights crying for you.
In the morning he carried you back to home tree. Neteyam insisted that you have a traditional Na’vi burial. It didn’t take much convincing as everyone adored you.
His family helped prepare your body. He begged for help not thinking he was strong enough to do it on his own. Once everything was finished they gave him a moment alone. Spider looked up at him with red puffy eyes giving him a pat on the back.
Neteyam spent his last moment with you whispering sweet nothings that you would never hear. Confessions of love that wouldn’t reach your ears.
The last time Neteyam saw you, you were lowered into the ground. He tried to stay collected not wanting his people to see him weak. But this was unbearable.
After the funeral his grandmother approached him. Pulling him in for a rare hug she caressed his head Lovingly. “She is with Eywa now.” She told him.
He looked up at her in shock. You were a human. Neteyam didn’t think it was possible for a sky person to be with Eywa.
“She is?” He asked breathless.
Mo’at simply nodded before leaving him. Neteyam took a moment to process this revelation. A gentle breeze blew through his hair. Taking a deep breath he tried to ground himself.
A delicate tap on his shoulder caused him to open his eyes. A single atokirina' had landed on him. It gently swayed around him. He cupped the spirit his hands smiling, tears streaming down his cheeks.
You were still here. There is no death. Only change.

BECCAAAA it has been a WHILE. but i have retuned with horny thots, first and foremost being lee edging an innocent reader,, because?? he’d totally be the kind of guy who wouldn’t let you whine about it at all, i just need anything lee 😵‍💫 - 🌙
Oh pleaseeee, Lee would be so into edging and he would get way too much satisfaction from hearing the way you beg him. Hearing you get so crude is the filthiest reminder that he's ruining you.
And I feel like as soon as you start whining that you need to cum, he'd start to get really condescending. Like rubbing your clit in small, concentrated circles but he stops as soon as he notices you're getting close.
"Lee please, this isn't fair. Please let me cum." The fact you even have to beg him is humiliating but the feeling of your orgasm fizzling away because he's stopped touching you feels even worse.
"Why fucking should I? You've been such a fucking brat today." One harsh spank lands on your bare pussy and it's enough to tear a sob from you. He licks his fingertips before he resumes his focused circles, watching the way your arousal glistens on your skin.
"I wasn't a brat, Lee!" You protest, frustration beginning to make your blood boil.
"Oh really? You're a liar now too?" His voice is so stern it sends a shiver down your spine. He's right and you know it. You were a brat. You just hoped he'd punish you by fucking you senseless, rather than edging you.
"Lee, I'm sorry! I promise, I'll be a good girl from now on. I'll be so good." He watches the way you nibble on your bottom lip before you throw your head back and God, he hopes you won't be a good girl. You don't inspire good behaviour when you look as hot as you do, lost in the feeling of just his fingertips. You're showing off so much bare skin and he knows that tonight, he has the time to worship every inch of it before he'll even think of letting you cum.
"You should've thought of that. 'Cause I'm not even gonna let you cum on my fingers. You're not cumming until you're stuffed full of my cock and babbling like a stupid little slut. I want you gushing around my dick, you got that? That pretty pussy will be so wet, it'll feel like fuckin' Heaven." He has to stop touching you again, watching how you're worked right to the edge of your orgasm and the way you almost squeal when he stops makes his dick throb in his trousers.
He watches how you pathetically grind your hips, whimpering and hoping against hope you'll be able to find enough contact on your clit to help you finish but you have no such luck. "You're so fuckin' desperate, aren't you? Your cunt's doin' all your thinking for you." He's right and you're okay with that.
You feel two of his thick fingers press to your entrance, slipping inside you and he groans at the feeling of how overwhelmingly wet you are. "Fuck, you're gone. Bet you'd hump my hand if I told you to. That's what a good little slut would do." It's humiliating, pressing down on him so his fingers slip deeper but ultimately, you know he's right. This is what a good little slut would do and in that moment, that's exactly what you are.

Hi Becca, I hope you're doing well!
I'm embarrassed to send you this ask because it's a personal request. I'm sure other people experience something similar, but yeah.
So, my birthday is on Friday, and it's usually not a good day for me. I usually end up feeling really lonely and have a lot of other negative feelings. I was wondering if you could write a drabble or have any thoughts about any of the Moon Boys comforting and trying to make their girl's day special?
Again, I totally understand if this doesn't click for you, and you can ignore it if you want to. - 🎭🌙
Happy birthday, anon! Here's just a tiny lil thing for you. I hope you have the best day 💕 thanks for always being a positive light in my inbox 💜
Tumblr media
"Happy Birthday, mi amor," Jake says.
You feel something lurch beneath your lungs when he crosses the room with a tiny tiered cake, a single burning candle in the center of it.
When he sits it in front of you at the kitchen table, you feel a lump form in the back of your throat.
Unlike most birthdays, it's a good kind of choked up.
"You didn't have to, Jake," you say, looking up at him. The candlelight shimmers, casts his features in shadow and light.
"We wanted to," he assures, moving to sit next to you. "Now, blow out your candle so I can have some cake."
You roll your eyes, a sudden burst of affection rolling up from your belly. Birthdays were usually solemn, lonely affairs. You'd been planning to ignore it altogether.
But this was better, having this moment with Jake. "C'mon," he urges again, his tone slightly worried. "We - Steven - got you a present and everything. Cake's gotta come first though."
"You got me a present?"
"Steven," he corrects again. "Me and Marc weren't allowed to help."
You laugh at that and loop your arms around his neck, squeezing firmly. "Thank you, all of you."
"It's nothing," he says, one warm hand against your spine.
"It's everything," you kiss his cheek. "Really."
"Your cake is gettin' wax all over it, cariño," he points out, looking a bit flustered with your attention when you pull back.
Smiling again, you turn to the cake and lean forward to blow out the candle. You don't make a wish, not certain you can push for better luck.

Hi Michie!
For the fanfic ask game:
😐what embarrasses you about your own writing?
😈is there anything you enjoy doing that you think your readers hate?
🌙what time of day do you prefer to write? Why?
👀any WIPs that will never see the light of day? If yes, what are they about?
HEY, BECCA!!!
😐 Something that embarrasses me about my writing:
Writing romance. I dunno why but writing romance is just me glancing at my screen like, "Oh Titan above, what the hell is this?"
😈 Something I enjoy doing that I think readers hate:
Writing gut punching sentences. That and randomly updating my fics when I feel like it just because I see no reason to hold back a chapter if it's already done.
🌙 Time of day I prefer to write:
Night. And I mean really late at night. It's quiet and there's no one to bug me or interrupt my thoughts. Just me and my writing. Plus, some of my best fics came out of sleep deprivation lol.
👀 Wips that may never see the light of day:
Yup. You got my Raeda fics (there are several but all different from each other but I won't go too into that), my sequel to 'Lilith adopts the Blight kids' and another Auntie Lily fic where Luz is living with Eda and Raine and ends up bonding with her literal distant aunt.
Thanks for the ask!

It was never supposed to happen. The bullet wasn’t meant for you. But how could you just stand there and watch when your brother was in danger? Taking fate into your own hands you pushed Neteyam out of the line of fire.
You don’t remember much after that.
In and out of consciousness you remember Neteyam pleading with you to stay awake, your father looking over your wound, and your mother’s screams. The blood curdling screams of your mother was something that you could never forget.
A miracle.
That’s what Ronal said after examining you. The bullet lodged into your spine should’ve killed you, but Eywa had shown you mercy.
Lucky.
That’s what Norm said after extracting the bullet. Jake insisted on calling Norm and Max out to look at you. Not that he didn’t trust Na’vi medicine, but he was once human. Old habits die hard.
The first few months were hell. You weren’t dead but you felt like you were. You wished you were. It would be a long road to recovery and you weren’t sure you had the patience for it.
Especially when everyone looked at you the way they did. Eyes full of guilt and regret. The pity that flood their eyes. It made you feel sick to your stomach.
Your brothers weren’t very good at hiding their guilt. There was a part of you that felt bad for them. You knew they felt at fault and they were letting it eat at them.
“I thought you were a goner.” Lo’ak joked around. His laugh never reach his eyes though. You could see the fear they still held.
Neteyam was with you on the day you finally could sit up by yourself. He was proud of you, he truly felt happiness for your accomplishment. But the guilt was crawling it’s way back up.
You were no longer the mighty warrior he grew up with. You’d never be her again. That split second decision changed the course of your life for forever. Relearning even basic things, everything would now be a challenge for you.
Neteyam hated himself for it. It wasn’t supposed to be you.
Jake was able to keep his feelings to himself. Only letting it effect him in private. He was forced to watch you struggle every single day with nothing he could do to fix it.
He related all too well with what you were going through. Jake didn’t think he’d ever have to deal with something like this again after his consciousness transfer.
But there you were, his babygirl stubbornly trying to recover on her own. He cursed your hardheadedness but a part of him understood. Jake was the exact same way when he was a human. He couldn’t stand the looks of pity he’d received; it made him work harder to prove himself.
Jake blamed himself for what happened. A father protects and he couldn’t even do that. The whole point of uprooting his family was to protect them. Every time he looked at you he was reminded of his failure.
For the past few weeks you had been working on your mobility. Everyone told you to take it slow, not to overdo it. You couldn't help but rush into things, itching for the taste of freedom you missed terribly.
Reaching out for the walking stick your father had brought you, you attempted to stand up. Wincing you leaned onto the cane even more. With one hand you dipped a rag into the bowl of water by your bedside.
You felt gross. It had been months since you had a proper bath. This wasn't what you wanted but it would have to do. Trying to run the cloth over your arm was proving harder than you originally anticipated.
Your body was starting to ache. Your legs felt like they were set on fire. Panting like you had just run a marathon you were exhausted. Not being able to stand any longer you collapsed back onto your bed.
Tears stung your eyes. You were frustrated with yourself. You weren't even able to do simple things for yourself. Grieving the life you lived before you let your sadness overtake you. Hiccuping as sobs escaped you.
Neteyam's ears twitched as he heard crying coming from your room. Protective instincts kicking in he rushed towards your room.
"Y/N?" He tentatively asked before bolting in.
The sound of your brothers voice made you prickle up. Quickly wiping off your face in hopes he wouldn't notice your tears.
His heart sank at the sight of you. Putting up a strong façade throughout your healing process, you never acted like anything bothered you. The broken girl he saw before him was new.
“You were crying, weren't you?" He asked.
“What does it matter?” You huffed.
“What’s wrong?” He breathed taking a seat next to you.
“What isn’t wrong?” You mumbled as more tears fell. “I can’t do anything anymore. I’m useless.”
“You are a lot of things sister. Stubborn and hardheaded? Yes. Useless? You could never be useless.” Neteyam gently wrapped his arm around you for a hug.
“You saved my life Y/N. How could you think so little of yourself?” He frowned.
“You would’ve done the same for me Neteyam.”
“That’s not the point. You didn’t have to. I owe you my life.” He stressed. “Now what can I do to help you?”
“It’s fine Neteyam, I don’t need anything.” You tried you best to brush him off.
“You’re hurt. Let me take care of you.” He pleaded.
“Fine.” You nodded. “Could you help me freshen up?” You asked sheepishly.
“Of course.” He jumped into action taking the discarded bowl and cloth.
“You know we’re all here for you right?” Neteyam asked after a few moments. “You don’t have to go through this alone.”
All you could do was nod. You felt stupid. Knowing you needed help and that your family was more than happy to provide it; you pushed them out trying to do everything on your own.
“What’s dad always say?” His tone teasing.
“Sully’s stick together.” You muttered rolling your eyes.
“That’s right.” Neteyam nodded as he dabbed your skin with the cloth. “You’re gonna get through this Y/N. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.”
“Okay.” You nodded. “I’ll try to be better at asking.”
Your brother nodded seemingly satisfied with your answer. You were the strongest person he knew, he had no doubt that’d you be able to pull through.
After all Sully’s stick together

summary: your best friend neteyam is a bit of a sleep cuddlier
words: 600
warnings/notes: none! pure tooth rotting fluff
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After another long ass day filled with nothing but training Neteyam was exhausted. In fact, exhausted was an understatement.
The only thing he wanted to do was to snuggle up and go to sleep. What he really wanted was to snuggle up with you.
His best friend was the only person who could immediately put him at ease. Nothing could top the tranquil feeling of holding you in his arms.
Neteyam trudged through home tree, his mind on autopilot. He was so groggy and exhausted he didn’t even know where he was going.
Tumblr media
Your hands carefully worked at the bracelet you were holding. Gently weaving the material so as not to damage it. Stopping midway through you noticed that the beads you were using were very similar to the beads Neteyam was found of.
A blush creeped onto your cheeks as you thought of him. You'd be lying if you said you didn't have feelings for him. But he was your best friend and nothing more.
"Why is your face like that?" Kiri asked unamused.
Eyes widening at being caught you tried to brush her off. "Like what?"
"Just admit that you were day dreaming about my brother so we can get back to our jewelry." She rolled her eyes.
You started to panic as you felt your entire face heat up. It wasn't that obvious, was it?
"I don't know what you're talking about." You nervously chuckled.
"Oh please," Kiri huffed. "The two of you have been pining after each other for years."
"You’re being dramatic. Neteyam doesn't see me that way." You frowned.
Kiri started laughing but quickly stopped when she saw your somber expression. "Wait, are you serious?” She asked.
"Yes Kiri! We're friends. Only friends. Neteyam would never return my feelings." You sighed.
"You must be blind." Kiri laughed. "He has been obsessed with you for years. To the point that it's alarming how much he talks about you."
"Seriously?"
"It's obvious to everyone but the two of you apparently."
Before you could argue with her the flap of your tent opened to reveal Neteyam himself. Kiri smirked giving you a knowing look.
Neteyam groggily made his way over to you. He looked liked he was half asleep, not even noticing Kiri as he passed her.
Neteyam plopped down next to you nuzzling his face into your neck. Inhaling your sweet scent immediately relaxed his tense body.
"What's wrong 'Teyam?" You softly asked while reaching your hand up to caresses his head.
"Tired." He mumbled against your skin. "Needed my comfort person."
Snuggling more into you his head found it's way onto your lap. He was hugging your arm to his chest.
You melted at the sight of him. He looked like a big comfy toddler. Seeing him like this wasn’t unusual. Despite the mighty warrior mask he wore, Neteyam loved physical touch. Whenever the two of you were alone he practically demanded that you cuddled.
But that was always when you were alone. He had never acted this way around anyone else. You were shocked that he was so relaxed with Kiri sitting right there. Usually you were the only one to see this side of him.
“Told you.” Kiri whispered.
Shushing her you waved her out. Neteyam had fallen asleep and the last thing you wanted was to wake him up.
Lovingly you admired his relaxed face as he slept. Gently you brushed his hair out of his face. A soft smile graced his lips as he begun to purr.
“Sleep well my mighty warrior.” You whispered.

The sun shown through the entrance of his tent causing Neteyam to stir in his sleep. Groaning he rolled over trying to delay waking up for as long as possible. Instinctively reaching out he went to pull you into his chest. But there was nothing but empty space beside him.
That’s when he opened his eyes. Neteyam was met with your vacant spot. For a moment panic coursed through his veins, but then he remembered. You were gone.
Sighing he ran a hand over his face trying not to cry. Every now and then he had moments were he forgot. A split second where you were alive and well. His mind dancing around with the ghost of you. Until he remembered that it was all a lie. No matter how hard he tried not to, he always remembered.
Your heart stopped and his won’t shut off. It had been months since your death and Neteyam still wasn’t sure how to live on without you. How does one move on after finding the person that made them complete?
Neteyam took comfort in the fact that you were with Eywa now, but being human you were never able to connect with the spirit tree. He wouldn’t be able to see you again until he joined the great mother himself.
Memories of you were starting to become fuzzy. He was having trouble remembering the sound of your voice. The sound of your laugh. He hated himself for it.
Nothing would heal the wound of your loss. Your death gutted Neteyam. Ripping his heart out and taking it with you. As months past he felt more and more hollow. Time wasn’t soothing him like everyone said it would. Time without you only made him feel worse.
“You can talk to me. You know that right?” Kiri asked her brother. She eyed him worriedly.
“There is nothing to say.” Neteyam answered without emotion.
She sighed. Kiri knew there was nothing she could say to him to ease the hurt. She had been consoling Spider ever since your passing. It was something neither of them would recover from.
“Have you seen Spider lately?”
“No.”
“Well maybe you should. Maybe talking to him would help. He lost his sister-“
“Y/N is dead.” Neteyam snapped. “There is nothing to talk about. Nothing will change that.” He coldly spoke.
Neteyam felt guilty for the harshness of his words. He also felt guilt because he hadn’t even thought about how Spider was doing. Neteyam was so lost in his selfish grief he never once thought about the other people who loved you.
Kiri sighed getting up to leave. She wouldn’t keep wasting her time talking to the brick wall that was her brother. “It doesn’t have to be me. It doesn’t have to be Spider. But you should talk to someone.”
The one person he wanted to talk to wasn’t there. Sighing he looked up at the moon and thought of you.
Tumblr media
After months of close calls with the sky people Jake made the decision to leave the clan. The people would be safe if they left since Quaritch was only after Jake.
Neteyam didn't have anything to say about leaving home. He packed up and left doing exactly what his father asked of him.
Jake prayed that the move would not only keep his family safe but also help Neteyam. Maybe the change of scenery would lift his spirits. The Olo'eyktan knew the loss of a mate was unbearable, but it broke his heart to see his son a shell of who he once was.
Neteyam stuck mostly to himself. He didn’t want to cause trouble amongst the Metkayina clan. He also just didn’t have the energy to pretend. To pretend he was happy. Pretend to be enjoying his lessons. None of it mattered to him anymore.
There was a part of him that wanted Eywa to take him now. He wouldn’t mind dying if it meant seeing you again. He didn't think he could ever move on.
Knowing that wasn't what you would've wanted for him filled him with shame. Neteyam knew you were still there somewhere; like the moon during the day is always there, even when we can't see it. The idea of you being disappointed in him broke the remaining shards of his heart.
So he tried his best to live the way you would've wanted. Taking walks along the beach thinking of how you would've loved to see this. Neteyam could picture your beautiful eyes full of wonder discovering every new experience. The idea of it put a small smile on his face.
Neteyam started taking his lessons with the Metkayina seriously. He found comfort in the breathing exercises, using them more to calm his anxious heart than to swim.
Finally settling into his new life, Neteyam felt like he could be happy with the Metkayina. But that feeling didn't last long. It seemed like every time he found happiness it was ripped away from him.
Quaritch had found them. Before Neteyam knew it he was in the middle of a battle on the water. Racing his Ilu towards the ship he swiftly hopped aboard. He made quick work of freeing his siblings from their restraints.
“Let’s go.” He commanded them, ready to get everyone to safety.
“We have to go back for Spider.” Lo’ak insisted.
The last thing Neteyam wanted was to go back. Letting out a growl he nodded heading into the ship along with Lo'ak. Neteyam had to go back not just for Spider but for you. He couldn't just leave your brother with the enemy.
The pair swiftly took out the guards that held Spider captive. Neteyam was leading them out when Lo'ak stopped to pick up a gun.
Neteyam saw an avatar stalking towards them ready to shoot. “Give me that!” He hissed ripping the gun from Lo’ak’s grasp.
“Go!” Neteyam roared pushing his brother towards the ledge of the boat. Lo’ak hesitated watching his brother prepare to shoot. Without wasting any more time Spider grabbed Lo’ak’s arm and pulled him overboard.
Pulling the trigger he shot without any real aim. Neteyam was just hoping to hold them off long enough to escape. Throwing the gun to the ground he leapt over the railing.
A warm shooting feeling filled his chest. Neteyam brushed it off to adrenaline. Struggling to reach the surface in the water he placed a hand over his chest. A stabbing pain erupted through him. Looking down he saw red seeping out of a bullet hole in his chest.
Barely holding his head above the water he could make out the faint noise of Lo’ak and Spider celebrating. “I’ve been shot.” Neteyam croaked out attempting to apply pressure to his wound.
Fading in and out of consciousness he faintly registered Lo’ak pulling him onto his Ilu. Lo’ak and Spider lifted him up onto the first rock they came to.
“Dad help!” Lo’ak yelled on the verge of tears. “It’s Neteyam. He’s hurt.”
Jake’s eyes widen in horror watching his oldest son bleed out. After carefully laying him down he turned him over to inspect the wound. The bullet had went through.
Jake grit his teeth with tears in his eyes. Neteyam was going to die and there was nothing he could do to stop it.
Neteyam could make out the screams of his mother as she dismounted her Ikran. His breath became labored as he desperately tried to suck in air.
He watched his family circle around him crying. They were waiting for him to die. Helplessly watching him as he bled out.
“I want to go home.” He breathed staring up at his family.
“I know.” Jake said through tears. “We’re gonna go home.”
Neteyam thought of home. He thought of you. It didn’t matter where he was physically you were his home. Smiling through the pain his mind filled with memories of you.
A sense of calm washed over him. Neteyam was no longer in fear of death. He wanted to let his family know he’d be okay, that soon he’d be with you. But his throat was closing in. His lungs unable to take in the air they needed.
“Dad I-“ he tried to speak quickly fading out.
Looking up to the sky is was eclipse. Night had become his favorite time. He would look up to the moon and think of you. Neteyam hoped to catch one last glance of the moon.
Chest falling for the last time his vision turned dark. He wasn’t afraid of death. Not when he knew the moon would guide him home.
Tumblr media
Opening his eyes Neteyam was met with a blinding white light. The last thing he remembered was laying on that rock.
"Neteyam." A familiar voice called to him.
He stood up trying to take in his surroundings. He was somewhere in the forest back home. Running a hand along his chest he noticed the bullet wound was gone.
"Ma'Teyam." The voice again. He knew that voice.
It couldn't be could it?
Turning around he was met with you. The you before you fell ill. Your eyes were practically glowing, your face lit up with a smile.
"Y/N?" He croaked before running towards you on his wobbly legs.
Falling to his knees he pulled you into his embrace. Neteyam squeezed you tight as if you'd vanish into thin air if he didn't.
"Is it you?" He cried. "Is this real?"
"Oh Ma'Teyam." You coo, gingerly holding his head in your arms. "It's real. I'm right here."
"Don't leave me again." His body shaking in sobs.
"Mawey, love. I'm not going anywhere. I'm staying right here." Gently running your fingers through his braids.
"I've missed you. So much." Neteyam choked out. Tears were streaming down his cheeks.
You placed a kiss on the top of his head. "I missed you too."
Looking up at you he tried to calm his breathing. You were here. You were safe. You were alive. Cupping your face in his heads he pulled you to his lips capturing you in a kiss.
You kissed him back and Neteyam felt his heart soar. This was real. He finally felt at peace; holding his entire world in his arms. You were his moon, his stars, and everything in between.
"I thought I told you to take your time skxáwng." You giggled.
"Can't help it." He mumbled against your lips. "I love you to the moon and back. I'll always come back to you."
Smiling you pulled him closer for another kiss. Neteyam had dreamt of this moment ever since your death. You were finally his again and he was never letting you go.
"Come on. Let me show you around." You giggled before pecking his lips one last time.
Without missing a beat he took your hand in his. Neteyam never wanted to lose physical contact with you again.
Taking a deep breath he smiled as silent tears streamed down his face. In the presence of the great mother, Neteyam felt a calmness like he had never felt before. Finally he was at peace with you by his side.
Neteyam smiled as you lead him through the paradise like forest. You happily babbled about everything you had discovered. He was ready to spend forever with you. Never to be parted again.
You were here, holding his hand. There is no death. Only change.

Your hand hadn’t left your cheek since it happened. Still in shock your eyes stared off into space. There was no way it happened. Your brother wouldn’t have hit you, would he?
“Y/N I need you to move your hand for me.” Kiri softly said.
Eyes focusing you found yourself in the healing tent with Kiri. Hesitantly you moved you hand from your face, folding it into your lap instead.
Kiri grimaced at the wound on your cheek. A dark purpleish bruise was already forming. A small cut topped it all off. It looked painful, Kiri’s heart hurt for you.
As Kiri went to work patching you up, Lo’ak was outside telling his father everything he had witnessed. Lo’ak was attempting to sneak out when he saw you and your brother arguing outside your family home.
It had started off like any other petty sibling argument. You couldn’t even remember what it was about. Growing up your brother always had a temper, but you never thought he’d actually hurt you.
So you didn’t even see it coming when he balled his fist and threw it towards you. It caught you off guard in more ways than one. Stumbling to the ground clutching your cheek in shock.
Lo’ak had seen it all happen. Rushing to you he made quick work of separating you from your brother. For once you were thankful that Lo’ak was attempting to get into trouble. You didn’t know what would’ve happened had he not shown up.
“I swear to Eywa I’ll kill him!” A familiar voice growled outside the tent.
You winced at Neteyam’s words. As much you loved that he wanted to defend you, right now you just needed him.
“He will be dealt with.” You heard Jake speak. “She’s your priority right now.”
A few moments later Neteyam entered the tent. His heart broke at the sight of you. Sitting there pitifully with tears welling up in your eyes.
“I’ll give you two a moment.” Kiri excused herself.
“Oh Ma’Y/N I’m so sorry.” He whispered slowly kneeing in front of you.
“It’s not your fault. You have nothing to apologize for.”
“I should’ve been there. I could’ve protected you.” His head hung in shame.
A single tear slid down your cheek. Cupping your face he gently wiped it away with his thumb.
You didn’t want to cry in front of him. You were already humiliated enough, you didn’t need to cry on top of it all.
“There’s no shame in crying. I promise.” He whispered before kissing your forehead.
Neteyam knew that you loved cuddling more than anything. Physical touch was your love language and he was always more than happy to provide. But he didn’t want to spook you having just gone through something so traumatic.
“Can I hug you?” He asked.
Shaking your head yes you opened your arms for him. Neteyam immediately scooped you up, pulling you into his embrace.
“C’mere, let me hold you syulang.” He cooed gently rocking you back and forth attempting to sooth you.
You felt safe in his arms. In that moment, everything was okay. You knew that Neteyam would never let anyone harm you ever again.
Neteyam still felt anger in his heart. He wanted nothing more than to give your brother a taste of his own medicine. But right now you needed him. Neteyam would hold you in his arms until the end of time if that’s what you wished.
“I love you, Ma’Y/N.” He whispered into your ear.
Pulling him impossibly closer you snuggled your face into his neck. You knew that eventually it would get better. Neteyam would be there every step of the way to get through this. But for now, you just wanted to block the world out and focus on his heartbeat.

That Funny Feeling ||| neteyam x omatikaya!reader

part two of The Future's Better Than Yesterday | previous | series masterlist | next |
pairings: neteyam x omatikayal!fem!reader *aged up*
summary: after listening to Mo’at insisting on finding a mate for you, you spend time with a boy in the village. Seeing the two of you together fuels Neteyam’s jealousy leading him to a confession.
words: 1.9k
warnings/notes: cringy tooth rotting fluff, use of y/n, probably spelling/grammar errors (sorry), mentions of finding a mate, friends to lovers starts to go somewhere, jealous!neteyam, also made up Na’vi name, honestly not a whole lot going on this chapter
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rolling your eyes you continued the task at hand. Hands busy at work making different healing pastes to replenish the stock. You wanted nothing more than to work in peace but Mo'at wouldn't let up.
"I will you help you my child." She continued. "It's time you find a mate."
"I already told you," letting out a heavy sigh. "I'm not looking for a mate right now."
"You have been of age for some time now. You cannot push it back forever."
You weren't ready. At this rate you could barley take care of yourself, the last thing you wanted to do was throw someone else into the mix. Besides, there was only one person you could see yourself with and that would never happen.
"My visions are getting worse. I don't want to drag someone into this. Until I get them under control I want to remain on my own."
"You are stubborn like your father." The Tsahík huffed.
Your face softened at the mention of your father. Knowing that other people noticed similarities between the two of you made your heart soar.
"Talk some sense into her Kiri." Mo'at continued to press.
"I'm staying out of this." Kiri raised her hands in surrender.
You couldn't help but laugh. "Good choice Kiri."
Despite your words the Tsahík knew that there was one young man you had your eye on. She also knew that he felt the same for you. The two of you thought you were sly but it had been painfully obvious for everyone else.
You would never admit your feelings for Neteyam because you feared rejection. There was no way he could feel the same so you didn't want to ruin the friendship the two of you had.
No one knew why Neteyam still hadn't confessed his feelings. Everyone knew he had been pining over you for years.
He just didn't know how to confess his feelings to you yet. Neteyam being the perfectionist that he is, had to have everything planned out to the last detail. Everything was always calculated and precise.
He would tell you when he had it all figured out.
Neteyam wasn't worried about rushing. He made it obvious to the other young men of the clan that you were off limits. Threatening anyone who so much as looked at you.
Even the Tsahík had noticed this in her grandson. You two were a match from Eywa herself. But Neteyam was too young and dumb to do anything about it. So Mo’at decided you needed a little push.
She had no doubt of your feelings and knew you’d be a perfect future Tsahík. Your connection to The Great Mother was undeniable and your care for the people was genuine. You would complete Neteyam in leading the people.
All that was needed was for one if you to make the first move.
***
Later that day you were in your tent with Kiri. "Your grandmother is driving me to madness." You huffed still irritated from earlier.
"You know that it's only gonna get worse from here right? My grandmother is relentless."
"I've noticed."
The entrance flap of the tent opened revealing a young man. He stood there awkwardly, seemingly unsure of himself.
"Ateyo." Kiri acknowledged him. "Are you injured?"
"No actually." he replied shifting his weight on his feet. "I'm here to see Y/N."
Your ears shot up at the sound of your name. Slowly turning around to face him you took him in. He gave a small smile and waved.
Having a feeling that someone else was up to something you couldn't help but be suspicious.
"What can I help you with Ateyo?" You wore your best fake smile hoping he didn't notice.
"I was wondering if you'd like to go on a walk with me?" He nervously scratched the back of his neck.
Your eyes practically bugged out of your head. Looking over to Kiri she had her hand pressed to her mouth trying to conceal her laughter.
Taking a deep breath you tried to think of something to get you out of this. "Thank you, but I still have work here to do."
"I can hold down the fort." Kiri knowingly smirked at you.
You whipped around giving her a look. Which only fueled her laughter more. You could've smacked the smile right off her.
"Shall we go then?" Ateyo asked holding his arm out for you. It was a sweet gesture but it meant little to you coming from him.
With one last glare at Kiri you followed Ateyo out of your tent. "Have fun you two!" Kiri exclaimed.
"You don't deserve to live." You mouthed to her. She stuck her tongue out in return before hunching over in laughter.
"Did the Tsahík put you up to this?" You winced slightly at your bluntness. But you couldn't help but ask. Ateyo was nice but had never once showed interest in you.
"She had mentioned something to me." He nervously chuckled. "But I would like to spend some time with you."
"I don't know what she told you but I'm not looking for a relationship right now." He nodded listening carefully to you.
"Would a walk as friends be alright then?" Ateyo asked his voice laced with hope.
"I would like that." You smiled.
For the most part you enjoyed Ateyo's company. Still, there was a part of you that wished he was anyone else. You’d rather be racing your Ikrans with Lo'ak or gossiping with Kiri. Hell you'd even play dolls with Tuk.
You most definitely would rather be walking with Neteyam right now.
Despite his words you noticed his lingering glances and occasional subtle flirting. You didn't pay much attention to it, you weren't at all interested so it didn't matter.
***
Neteyam bounded into your tent with a huge smile on his face. He had a habit of obtaining slight injuries that needed your immediate attention. It was the perfect excuse to come see you and one of the only times he got to see you during the day.
"Are you injured brother?" Kiri asked looking him up and down.
Smile fading he looked around the room noticing your absence. "Where is Y/N?"
"Hello brother, it is nice to see you too." Kiri rolled her eyes. "My day has been good thanks for asking." She taunted.
"That's nice Kiri, but where is Y/N?" He was trying to be nice to his sister but his patience was wearing thin.
"She's out. Is there anything I could help you with?" She smirked.
"Out where?"
"Not sure. But if you need help with the scrape on your head I happen to be a very skilled healer. Unless, there was another reason you needed Y/N?" Her tone teasing.
Neteyam felt his face heat up at his sister's words. She knew exactly why he wanted to see you but still chose to torture him. "Never mind Kiri.”
Walking out of the tent he was met with a sight that made his stomach drop. There you were entering the village with a man. His blood ran cold and then started to boil as the man put his hand on your shoulder.
Neteyam wanted nothing more than to rip his hand off.
A million thoughts were running through his head. Neteyam never considered himself to be a jealous person but that funny feeling was creeping into his stomach. The green cloud of envy was blurring his senses.
So distracted in his thoughts he didn’t notice you walk up to him. “Hi Neteyam.” You smiled your sweet smile. Your smile that should be for him and only him.
“We need to talk.” He grabbed your wrist pulling you away from the village. “You don’t have to drag me I can walk myself.” You grumble pulling your arm away.
“Sorry.” Was all he grumbled as you kept walking. You knew exactly where he wanted to go.
He pushed the brush back allowing you to enter the clearing first. Taking a seat at your normal spot you watched as he did the same.
“What’s up with you? You seem grumpy.” You playfully said.
“Who were you with?” Was all he said.
“Ateyo invited me for a walk.” You cautiously said noticing his mood still hadn’t improved.
He scoffed. Ateyo wasn’t even the best hunter in the clan. You could do much better than him.
“So you’re together now?” He couldn’t meet your stare.
A laugh escaped your lips. His ears twitch before he finally turned to look at you. His heart was on the verge of breaking into a million pieces and you were laughing?
“Neteyam where are you coming up with this?” You asked still giggling. You stopped when you noticed his expression stayed hard.
Your face softened as you took him in. He was genuinely upset and you suspected a little jealous. “Your grandmother has been pestering me to find a mate.” You started. His ears perked up listening to you.
“She asked Ateyo to spend time getting to know me. I told him the same thing I told her. I am not interested in a mate right now.”
Neteyam’s angry expression was melting into sadness. He was glad you weren’t courting Ateyo, but your words stung.
Feeling bold you pushed further, “Why would it matter if I was interested in him?”
“Because it just does.” He huffed.
“But why?” Scooting closer to him desperately trying to look in his eyes. “Why did you bring me here Teyem?”
“I just, I just needed to know that you weren’t with him.” He looked up at you panic evident in his face. His eyes a bit watery. It was now or never.
“I want to be yours Y/N.” He spoke softy. “I want you more than anything I’ve ever wanted. It’s always been you.”
You felt like someone knocked the wind out of you. The boy you loved just confessed his feelings to you. You gently pinched your arm just to make sure this was real. It was.
“Neteyam I don’t know what to say.”
“You don’t have to say anything.” He gently cupped your cheek. “Just listen.”
“You are my best friend, my favorite person, and the only girl I’ve ever loved. I want to be with you for the rest of our lives Y/N.”
Tears were freely spilling out of your eyes. This was all you ever wanted but you still couldn’t help but feel unworthy. “Neteyam you need a strong mate to be your Tsahík. I am not her.”
“But you are. You’re the most selfless, loving, and caring person I know. You will guide the people far better than I ever could.”
“What about your parents? They are supposed to choose for you.”
“I do not care.” He was desperately trying to make you understand. “You are the only thing I’ve ever wanted. The one thing I want to choose myself. My whole life has been laid out for me but I will not let them take you from me. If they disapprove, I will run away with you. We could be happy just the two of us.”
“Teyam.” You smiled placing your hand over his on your cheek.
“Say you will be mine Y/N. You already know I am yours.”
Studying his eyes they were so sure not a trace of doubt in them. You could see the gold swirls and the flecks of green, wanting nothing more than to be lost in them forever.
“I see you Y/N.”

“I see you Y/N.”
His words rang through your ears as your mind tried to register them. You felt his breath on your face as he leaned impossibly closer. His eyes never leaving yours, staring straight into your soul, daring you to say something.
Reaching up you gently cupped his face. "Teyam, you want me?" You breathed out. “Even with everything that’s wrong with me?” You teared up.
“There is nothing wrong with you.” He pulled you into his embrace. “You are perfect in every way.”
He hated the way you viewed yourself. You acted as if you were broken, a burden to everyone around you. In Neteyam’s eyes you were anything but.
“I have always wanted you. And I always will.” Gently he moved your face up to look at him. “I want to occupy your brain Y/N. Let me be the only living space in your head.”
No one had ever said such words to you. You didn’t know what to say. Neteyam was practically a poet confessing his love and you couldn’t even form a single word.
“I want you to be mine Y/N. But if you don’t feel that way-if you’d rather be with someone else, I-“ not being able to hold back any longer you interrupted him. "Yours is the only name that's under my breath.” You whispered just loud enough for him to hear.
Your fingers found their home through his braided hair. “I see you Neteyam."
Neteyam felt his heart leap at your words. Words he had waited years to hear. He couldn't contain himself any longer as he lunged forward capturing your lips in a kiss.
Your eyes widened at the sudden action but quickly fluttered shut as you melted into the kiss. He urgently pulled you closer to him as if you would disappear if he didn't. You were putty in his hands as you molded into his touch.
The sudden need for air forced him to pull away from you. He admired your hooded eyes and your swollen lips. "I hope that was okay." He chuckled gently caressing your face.
"More than okay." You smiled at him.
This moment was perfect. It was everything you had ever hoped for. You desperately tried to commit every last detail to memory. You needed to hang onto this forever.
He kissed you again this time not as gentle. It was rough and messy. He was letting out years of pent up feelings. Years of not knowing what to say. Years of frustration.
Pulling away gasping for breath you stared into his eyes. They were the most beautiful shade of gold. They resembled the light right before eclipse.
When your eyes focused back to your surroundings you saw Neteyam offering you his queue. Your eyes widened for a moment realizing that he really was serious.
"Are you sure?" You whispered giving him one last chance to back out.
He gave you that soft smile that you adored so much. "I've never been more sure of anything." His thumb gently rubbing circles on your cheek. "But it doesn't matter what I think. What do you want?"
Reaching behind you you extended your queue to him. "I want you, Neteyam."
Slowly he brought his queue towards yours until they finally intertwined. It felt like an electric spark coursed through your body. Your eyes dilated as you took in heavy breaths.
Eyes staying on Neteyam you noticed his tail whipping back and forth as tried to tame the intense feeling.
Your whole body felt like it was tingling. Every sensation stronger than the last. You could feel Neteyam's heartbeat, it's rhythm matched your own. You felt every breath he took in your own lungs.
"Ma'Y/N." He breathed before capturing you in a kiss once again.
Not being able to control yourself you whimpered into the kiss. The ache between your thighs started when he first kissed you, but now thanks to tsaheylu it intensified.
Your mate could feel it too.
"Be patient my mate. I will take care of you." He said in between kisses. His words made you shiver. He was yours. He was finally yours.
Neteyam was trying his best to show restraint. He wanted to take his time exploring your body. But he also had a strong urge to completely devour you. He had spent too many years waiting.
His lips moved down until they found their home on your neck. He inhaled deeply your sweet scent making his head spin. Hands trailing up and down your sides as he left purple marks on your neck.
He tried reaching underneath your top cursing when the beads were making it difficult. He started to remove the clothing, first looking up at you. "This okay?" He asked. You violently shook your head. "Yes." Voice cracking.
Neteyam practically ripped the top off of you. Eyes widening he took a moment to admire your chest. His pause made you feel self conscious. You started to move your arms in an attempt to cover yourself. His brows furrowed at your movement. Gently pulling your arms away he shook his head. "Don't hide yourself. You're beautiful Ma'Y/N." Your cheeks went hot at his words.
His face dipped between your breasts ravishing them with kisses. His mouth found your nipple and started sucking on it. His hand reaching for your other breast gently kneading it. Moaning your back arched off the ground and into his touch. Pulling on his head trying to get him impossibly closer.
Releasing your breast with a pop he continued moving down your body. Leaving a trail of kisses down to your navel, his fingers traced the blue stripes on your sides. His eyes locked onto your face as you shuddered at his touches.
Fingers playing with the sides of your loincloth he searched your face for any hesitation. "Can I take this off?"
"Please Neteyam. Take it off." You wined.
He smirked as he removed it. He loved seeing you so needy and desperate all for him. Tossing your last remaining piece of clothing to the side he finally pulled your legs open.
Taking a deep breath the scent of your arousal hitting him. The sight of your glistening folds made him harder than he already was. It took every ounce of self control he had not to shove his dick inside you right then.
Leaning down he placed a kiss on your inner thigh. Your scent was driving him crazy. His face right in front of your aching core. He wanted to know if you tasted as sweet as you smelled.
"Wanna taste you." He mumbled. A deep moan erupted from the back of your throat. Neteyam blew onto your sopping cunt, enjoying the sight of you shivering. Hips bucking desperately searching for friction.
"Teyam please." You wined. You were on the verge of tears. You needed him to touch you and you needed him to do it now.
"Please what, Syulang? Use your words." He chuckled.
"Touch me. Please touch me."
With one last smirk he finally moved forward. His lips immediately finding their way to your clit, sucking and licking harshly. Throwing your head back with a moan your fingers tugged on his braids.
His tongue worked lower taking an exploratory dip into your entrance. Moaning at the taste he continued to eat you out like a starved man. Easily slipping a finger in his mouth went back to your bud.
Working a second finger in he continued to pump them, occasionally scissoring them in attempts to open you up. “So good Teyam.” You moaned at the stretch starting to feel pressure in the pit of your stomach.
Neteyam hummed against your heat satisfied with your little whimpers. They were like music to his ears. He wanted to hear you make them over and over again.
“Gonna cum for me?” He asked as he curled his fingers up inside you, nudging a spot that made your eyes roll. “Cum on my tongue love.”
His words were the last thing you needed to tip you over the edge. The coil in your stomach finally snapped your whole body tensing for a moment before relaxing. Pleasure coursed through you and for a moment you felt like you were floating.
Neteyam greedily lapped up your release not wasting a drop. He continued showing no signs of stopping until it became too much and you pushed his head away.
Sitting up he admired the view. Your eyes were hooded as they looked up at him. Still heavily panting you were a blissed out mess. He smirked knowing he was the one that made you this way.
His chin glistened with your release the sight turning you on more than you thought. Sucking his fingers clean he kept eye contact with you. “You taste so sweet.” Blushing at his words you looked away.
“Don’t believe me huh?” He questioned. Before you could respond his kissed you. Tasting yourself on his lips you moaned into the kiss. The taste was unfamiliar but not unpleasant.
You noticed that his loincloth was still on, his cock pressed against it. Reaching down you tried to remove it, he guided your hands helping you. Finally his cock was free slapping up against his stomach. Your mouth watered at the sight.
Wrapping your hand around the base you pumped him a few times, making sure to rub your thumb over the slit. His sucked in a breath practically hissing at your touch.
“No more.” He removed your hand. “I need to be inside you.” Leaning back on your elbows you smirked up at him. “Then what are you waiting for?” You asked.
Groaning he lined himself up with your entrance. “Are you sure?” He asked one final time wanting to make sure you wanted this as much as he did. “Yes Ma’Teyam.” You nodded.
Slowly he pushed into you. “Fuck.” He muttered as he bottomed out. Your velvety walls were practically sucking him in. You moaned at the stretch, hips slightly bucking trying to create some friction.
“Move please.” You whimpered. He immediately started thrusting pulling out until just the head was in and then slamming back up into you.
Thrusting up he hit that spot again making you clench around him. “So fucking tight.” He moaned. He didn’t know how much longer he could last with you gripping him like a vice. His fingers started to work at your bud.
Your head flung back your hands squeezing his shoulders. The familiar tight feeling in your stomach was forming once again. You knew you were close.
“Right there. Don’t stop.” You said breathlessly. He continued to rut his hips into you hitting your sweet spot each time. The sound of skin hitting skin mixed with the wet sloshing noises of your cunt was enough to drive Neteyam mad.
“You close?” He asked gently pinching your clit trying to get you off before his own release. “Gonna be a good mate and cum for me?”
“Yes!” You cried out. With one more thrust of his hips you felt your orgasm wash over you. Neteyam worked you through it chasing after his own release.
He stilled at he shot his load into you. The warm feeling of his seed filling you. Giving a few gentle thrusts he wanted to make sure it stayed in you. Pulling out the sight of his leaking cum mixed with yours was enough to almost make him hard again. Using his fingers he pushed some back up into you.
Neteyam laid down next to you pulling you into his chest. “You okay?” He checked in on you making sure he didn’t hurt you. “Mm, doing great.” You hummed. He chuckled and wiped you hair off your sweaty forehead.
“My beautiful mate. We are mated before Eywa for life.” He cooed. “You’re my mate. Mine.”
You giggled at his words. It was like he had to keep repeating it for it to fully register. “And you are mine Ma’Teyam.” You hummed.
Snugging you closer he kissed your forehead. “I love you Y/N.” Your heart swelled at his words. “I love you too Neteyam.”
You had seen so many glimpses of the future but you never in a million years expected this. A part of wished the Great Mother showed you this moment. It would’ve been something hopeful to cling onto when everything got too much. But you know you wouldn’t change anything. It was more than you could ever ask for, and besides sometimes not knowing what the future holds was ideal.
The two of you laid on the forest floor tangled in each other. Neteyam pulled you into his chest. Once in awhile he would gently squeeze you closer, as if he was making sure this was real. That you were really there with him. That you were his.
His thumb drew circles on your arm as his steady breath lulled you to sleep. For the first time in years you fell right into a peaceful sleep.
                                      ***
In the morning you walked into the village hand in hand with your mate. Knowing eyes and smiles were directed to the two of you. You blushed at the attention, slightly embarrassed.
Neteyam was anything but embarrassed. But was ready to announce that you were his mate to anyone who would listen. He was especially  eager to make it known to Ateyo.
His family smiled as you entered his home. They had been worried for his safety when he didn't return home last night, but Kiri was quick to inform everyone that you were the last person he was seen with.
Neytiri smiled beaming with pride that her son finally found a match. There was no denying that you two were made for each other.
"We have something to tell you." Neteyam started suddenly becoming a bit shy. "We are mated before Eywa." He smiled proudly.
"It's about damn time." Lo'ak snickered.
Neteyam rolled his eyes light shoving his brother. Neytiri pulled you into a warm hug. "Welcome to the family daughter." Your eyes glistened with tears at her words.
It finally hit you that after all these years you finally got your wish. You were a Sully now. Heart warming at the thought, this was your family now.
Jake congratulated you both while Tuk excitedly jumped up and down. She didn't understand what had happened but seeing everyone happy made her excited.
Kiri was last to come up to you. "My sister." She happily said before hugging you tight. "You've always been my sister, it's just official now." You chuckled.
Kiri stuck her tongue out pretending to gag. "Don't go into detail." She started, "I'd rather drink acid than hear about you and my brother."
Rolling your eyes you playfully shoved her. Leave it to Kiri to turn a heartwarming moment into something like this.
The whole day Neteyam did nothing but show you off. His grandmother looked at the two of you with knowing eyes and a smirk. You couldn't help but notice her look. You wondered if she knew what she was doing when she sent Ateyo to you. Mo'at nodded at you giving a glance of approval.
His hand never letting go of yours, he chatted all about the life you'd live together. He told you all about his plans for your future home. He was eager to show you that he could provide for you as your mate.
That night he gently caressed your face as he stared into your eyes. "Are you happy Ma'Y/N?" He softly asked.
You wanted to laugh at him for asking such a foolish question. Of course you were happy. The happiest you'd ever been in your entire life. "So so happy Ma'Teyam." You smiled.
He gave you a sweet sleepy smile before his eyes started to flutter closed. "Me too." He mumbled before falling asleep. Snuggling in closer to him you let sleep take you as well.
                                     ***
Smoke and fire consumed the forest. A thundering sound echoed through the air, the wind whipping harshly. The ground was littered with Na'vi warriors. Brothers fallen in battle. There were no arrows or other instruments of war that you knew. Their bodies instead were covered in small holes.
Blood was pooled everywhere, seeping back into the ground below. It was the most horrific sight you had ever seen.
You heard shouting and a loud unfamiliar noise. Looking up to the sky you saw a giant metal creature soaring through the air. The noise coming from it made you want to cover your ears.
You had seen something like this once. A few of the scientists that stayed on Pandora would sometimes use one. But this one was different. It had weapons-guns- attached to the sides. It continued firing even though there was no threat.
Looking back to the ground, robotic metal suits marched examining the bodies. Poking at them with their guns to confirm the kill. Inside of the suits were sky people.
Suddenly your home looked like it did during the war with the sky people - only this time it was worse. It was new. This had yet to happen.
                                     ***
Thrashing in your sleep you woke your mate. Neteyam's fight or flight response immediately kicked in and he was ready to fight. Eyes wondering the room he didn't see a threat. Instead he saw you sobbing in your sleep.
His heart clenched at the sight. As softly as he could he tried to wake you. "Ma'Y/N." He gently cooed. "Wake up."
You started screaming in your sleep until it woke you up. Neteyam's heart broke at the sight of you. Your eyes bloodshot, tears streaming down your face. You were shaking still terrified from what you saw.
"What was it my love?" He asking cupping your face.
"The sky people are returning." You said through sobs

Pandora glowed with her breathtaking bioluminescent haze. The forest slowly came to life with the dawn of a new day. Slight breezes swayed the flora delicately. A sweet citrus smell filled your lungs as you took a deep breath. Your home never failed to leave you awestruck. Often you'd spend your mornings admiring the Great Mother's beautiful creations.
There were many places in the forest that you would consider your favorite. Every time you witnessed the majesty of the Hallelujah Mountains you felt your breath catch in your throat. You marveled at the power and elegance they held. Something that mighty made you feel insignificant; putting into perspective that you are just a spec in this vast world.
The Tree of Souls felt safe like a mother embracing her child. And for you, it really was. It was the only way for you to know your parents without having met them prior. Meeting them for the first time terrified you. You were unsure if they'd even recognize you, but there they were with their arms open waiting for you. Nothing is ever really lost.
You found yourself now in a small clearing in the forest. From an outsiders view it wasn't anything special, but to you it was everything. It was a secret spot that no one else knew about, well you and one other person.
Your childhood best friend Neteyam introduced to the clearing when you were children. Ever since, it's been just for the two of you. A place to laugh and goof off, a place for deep thought, and occasionally a place to cry.
***
Your bottom lip was quivering and your eyes glossy. Neteyam knew you were about to cry. Panic filled his body as he didn't know what to do. He always had a plan, being clueless scared him.
That and he'd never seen you cry before.
Placing a gentle hand on your shoulder he turned you to face him. Tears were already starting to fall. You tucked your arms in hugging yourself.
“What is wrong Y/N?”
You felt the eyes of bystanders burning holes into your head. You’d rather have Eywa take you now than to have the entire clan watch you cry.
“I don’t want them to see me cry.” You sniffed.
Springing into action Neteyam took your hand leading you away from the village. Not questioning him you let him take you through the forest. You didn't care where, you just needed to be away from everyone else.
Pulling back foliage he revealed a beautiful clearing. Your eyes widened as you took it in. It overlooked the forest giving you one of the most beautiful views you had ever seen.
"What is this place?" You asked.
Neteyam shrugged nonchalantly, "I found it while exploring. Thought it would be a good place to be alone."
"It's perfect." You agreed.
He led you in and gestured for you to sit. Crossing his legs he sat in front of you. Frowning he noticed the tears still falling down your cheeks.
"Please tell me what is wrong Y/N." He pleaded.
You were hurt. He needed to know what he could do to make it stop. Just the sight of you like this made his heart clench.
"You won't understand." You were looking everywhere but his eyes.
"Let me help you. Please Y/N." He took your hands in his giving a gentle squeeze.
“I don’t have a family Neteyam!” You snapped unintentionally letting all your pent up emotions out on him. Eyes widening you looked up to him in shock. Had you really just said that?
Neteyam was hurt by your outburst but even more hurt by your words. He knew your parents were gone but he thought you were happy with his family- happy with him.
“I’m sorry.” You took his hand, “I didn’t mean to yell at you.”
He nodded at you to continue. He was trying not to overreact, wanting to listen to your explanation before coming to a conclusion. Neteyam was wise beyond his years for a ten year old.
"I just see all the other children with their parents. And then I see yours and I- I want that for myself."
"I know you think I'm selfish but I can't help it. I want my own family. I feel like I don't even know who I am without them."
You never knew your parents. Your father died during the battle with the sky people. A fierce warrior you hoped to live up to. After a complicated birth your mother fell asleep never to open her eyes again. They managed to save you but it was too late for her.
She never even got to hold you.
A part of you felt like you were being dramatic. You've had a good life, fortunate enough to be raised by the people. But it got lonely. You'd spend nights with different families never having a stable home to go back to.
Jake and Neytiri were the closest thing you had to adoptive parents even though they technically weren't. You desperately wished they were. Often you'd day dream about your parents, your mind painted them to be much like the Olo'eyktan and his mate.
"I'm all alone Neteyam." You said between sobs hugging your legs up to your chest.
Quickly as if his life depended on it he locked you into his embrace. He let you cry it out against his chest. Gently rubbing your head like his mother does to calm his siblings down.
“You are not alone Y/N.” He soothes. “You have the people, my family loves you so much, and you have me.” Neteyam softly pulled you away from him so he could look you in the eyes. “You’ll always have me Y/N.”
***
Blinking back sleep you felt your eyes grow heavy. The prior night of not sleeping suddenly catching up to you. Tugging your legs up to your chest you hugged yourself. The day hadn't even begun and you were already exhausted.
You weren't always afraid of sleeping. It wasn't until the visions got worse. You'd rather not sleep than see the images in your mind. This week had been particularly bad. You found yourself here every night trying to stay awake.
"Y/N?"
The familiar voice pulled you from your thoughts. Looking up you were met with the face of your best friend.
"Morning 'Teyam." You sleepily smiled at him.
Neteyam's face lit up at the nickname. His bright cheery smiled reminded you how much of a morning person he was. Needless to say you were not one yourself.
"Getting an early start today Y/N?"
Afraid of disappointing him you kept your gaze on the view in front of you. You were well aware that he didn't like you staying awake through the night. He reminded you every chance he got.
Releasing a heavy sigh he looked over at you concerned. "You haven't slept at all have you?"
"You know I try not to."
"You are going to worry me to death one day Y/N." The boy chuckled but he meant it. He constantly worried about you, wanting you to be healthy and happy at all times.
"How long?" He asked bringing the mood back down.
"About a week." You shrugged.
Rubbing his hand against his face he grumbled something into his palms. He was mad at himself for not noticing sooner. "You've gone a week without sleep? This isn't healthy Y/N. You need rest."
"I know. They just started to scare me again."
The sight of you exhausted and completely defeated broke his heart. Neteyam wanted nothing more than to take the pain away. Even if he'd have to bear it himself he'd do it if it meant you never had to.
Neteyam was one of the only people in the clan that seemed to care more about you than your abilities. Instead of focusing on the miracle from Eywa he kept his eyes beautiful tormented girl in front of him.
He wasn't bothered with understanding the future. It would happen soon enough. All he cared about was you being able to live without being scared of your own mind.
But it got worse as you got older. Your dreams more intense and freighting. The scenes played over and over again until you finally woke up. That's why you made the choice to stay awake. If you never went to slept the visions never came. It was as simple as that.
When you were younger you never really noticed the visions. They were mild and always of something pleasant. It was as if they were normal dreams.
Being a kid you of course told everyone everything. For awhile no one paid any attention thinking it was just the normal chatter of a child. But when you started sharing very specific details that later unfolded people started to notice.
One of those people was the Tsahìk herself. After praying and consulting with Eywa she discovered that you had been gifted by the Great Mother herself. Ever since Mo’at took a special interest in you.
You admired the spiritual leader grateful for her guidance. But you knew deep down she kept you close because of your abilities.
“There’s still time, try and get some rest.” Neteyam urged you.
“I don’t know Teyam, I have lessons soon.” You reminded him with a sigh.
“I know, I know. Just try. I will stay and protect you.” The boy grinned down at you.
Not having the energy to argue with him anymore your head plopped onto his shoulder. You were out like a light. Unsure if it was from purse exhaustion or that Neteyam’s presence made you feel safe.
He wrapped his arm around your sleeping figure pulling you in closer to him, careful not to wake you. His cheeks flushed as you snuggled into him. Neteyam could get used to this.
***
Grinding herbs with Kiri the two of you were finishing up your lessons with Mo'at. Seeing your potential she took you under her wing teaching you to become a healer.
It was something you enjoyed. You wanted to be useful and this made you feel like you could give back. Plus Mo'at was also training Kiri. You jumped at the opportunity to spend time with your friend.
While you considered Neteyam to be your best friend Kiri was all that and more. She was the sister you never had. She knew everything about you and you her. You’d thank the Great Mother every day for Kiri, she was truly a blessing.
Pausing you yawned into your elbow. Kiri immediately noticed and frowned. She knew exactly what you had been doing. She had her suspicions but received confirmation when Neteyam told her that morning.
Not knowing who else to tell he went to Kiri. She used it as the perfect opportunity to tease her older brother. However she was also worried about you.
"Do you want to spend the night tonight? It will be fun like when we were little." Kiri asked while cleaning up.
Lifting your brow you glanced over at her. It wasn't unusual for Kiri to suggest something like this. However you felt suspicious because of your conversation with Neteyam earlier.
"Did your brother put you up to this?" You asked with your back still to her.
Kiri's glance softened rushing over to you she put a gentle hand on your shoulder. "I can not lie to you," she started, "he told me that you haven't been sleeping. I thought maybe coming over could help."
"Kiri you know why I stay awake. It's not like I don't want to sleep, I'm just-"
"Afraid of what you will see." Kiri interrupted you. "I know. But maybe tonight will be different. We will not know until we try." She gently tugged on your arm, "at least stay for dinner."
You looked over to the corner of the tent where your mat laid. Once you got older you made one of the healing tents your makeshift home. You didn't want to be a burden to the people.
"Please." Kiri pouted her bottom lip giving her best puppy dog face.
Playfully you pushed her rolling your eyes. "I can't say no to you."
Throwing her hands up in victory Kiri let out a cheer. "Let's go." She practically dragged you out of the tent.
You loved spending time with the Sully’s. The atmosphere was always warm and welcoming. Even though it made you feel guilty, sometimes you wished that you were apart of their family.
Neytiri was cutting fruit preparing for dinner. Little Tuk was playing with a wooden Ikran toy. When she saw you her face lit up. “Y/N!” She exclaimed crashing into you for a hug.
“Hi Tuk.” You giggled as you picked her up. “I’ve missed you.”
Neytiri smiled seeing you and her daughter entering their home. “Ma’Y/N it’s been so long since you joined us for a meal.” She warmly hugged you.
“I know. Next time I won’t wait so long to come back.”
Nodding in approval Neytiri went back to her preparations. Looking around you noticed the men of the family were missing. Lessons had ran overtime again.
As if on cue Lo’ak bursted through the entry of the tent. His eyes lit up when he saw you before turning into a wicked smirk.
“Hey bro your girlfriend is here!” He loudly teased.
Neteyam was next to come in. His eyes huge and his face flushed. “You fucking skxawng.” He muttered making sure to smack Lo’ak on the back of his head.
You hoped the blush on your cheeks wasn’t noticeable. You had a crush on your best friend for a long time, you just thought it wasn’t noticeable. Apparently you were wrong.
“Ow” Lo’ak dramatically rubbed the back of his head. “It’s the truth.”
Shaking his head Jake entered. “You’ll have to excuse my sons Y/N. They insist on acting like children.”
You giggled at the look both Neteyam and Lo’ak gave their father.
After greeting everyone Neteyam quickly made his way to you taking a seat next you. His eyes never left you throughout the evening. He asked you all about your day, because he genuinely wanted to know but also just to hear your sweet voice.
Kiri and lo’ak constantly rolled their eyes. Tired of seeing their brother pining over you.
Later Kiri helped you make up the spare mat. You felt Neteyam’s gaze on you the whole time, trying your best to ignore it.
“Just try to get some rest.” Kiri smiled.
Weakly smiling you nodded. You were terrified. Not only because you were going to try to sleep but you were trying in some else’s home. The last thing you wanted was to make a scene.
Laying down you met his glance from across the room. He looked focused possibly a little worried. You smiled at him. He immediately returned the gesture.
Curling up you closed your eyes praying for a normal night of sleep. It didn’t take long for you to drift off. Neteyam stayed up until he was sure you were asleep. Counting your rhythmic heavy breaths.
***
It looked like the aftermath of a battlefield. Smoke and fire clouded around your beautiful home. Death and destruction were everywhere. Bodies of fallen Na’vi soldiers covered with red littered the ground. Their blood seeping back into the ground, until all you saw was red.
***
You woke up gasping for breath. With a splitting headache and blurry vision you stumbled your way out of the tent. Sitting down outside you tried your best to take deep breaths. You felt like you were starting to hyperventilate.
A few moments later Neteyam noticed you were missing. His whole body filled with worry he went looking for you. It didn’t take him long as you were sitting right outside the tent.
His heart sank the moment he saw you. You were trembling, gasping for breath with tears stinging your eyes.
“What is wrong? Are you okay? Are you hurt?” He fired too many questions at you. You were too overwhelmed to answer him.
Gently wrapping his arm around your shaking frame he pulled you into his chest. “Deep breaths for me.” He softy said.
After a few minutes you managed to calm your breathing. “That’s it. Good job.” He praised you gently rubbing his hand on your head.
“It hurts Teyam.” You muttered against his chest.
With furrowed brows he crouched down to look at you. “What hurts?”
“My head. The bad ones hurt.” You sniffled through your tears.
You hadn’t told anyone but as your visions got more intense, they started to affect your physical health. Often leaving you with the worst migraine you’d ever had.
He held you closer trying not to cry himself. The girl he was hopelessly in love with was in pain and there was nothing he could do about it. He wanted to take it all away but all he could do was watch.
Neteyam couldn’t help but question why the Great Mother would gift you with this if it caused you so much pain.
He placed a gentle kiss to the top of your head trying his best to comfort you. “It’ll be okay. I’m right here.” He soothed.
“Will you stay up with me?”
His heart broke at your pitiful frame. “Of course I will. However long you want.”

Sitting alone by the lake your feet dangled into the water. Eclipse was nearing but you weren't ready to go home yet. You longed for the peaceful feeling you felt here; wanting nothing more than to hang onto it a little longer.
"Can I sit?" A familiar voice asked.
Your eyes widened as you took in Neteyam sitting next to you. Cheeks heating up in a blush you looked away hoping he didn't see.
Growing up with him you considered Neteyam to be a friend. As years went on something started to change. The way you felt for him wasn't the way friends should feel. It was more.
"Why are you out so late alone?" He asked concern laced in his voice.
"I like to come here to think." You shrugged.
"Could I stay and think with you?" He asked.
Gently biting your lip to keep yourself from squealing you finally looked up at him. The freckles that adorned his face were starting to glow in the night. His bright eyes bore into yours. A small smile tugging at his lips.
He was beautiful.
"Of course." You weakly smiled.
Your heart sped up at the close proximity of your crush. His hand sat right next to yours on the ground. Neteyam slowly slide it closer and closer to yours.
Not wanting to ruin the moment you stayed silent. You still couldn't believe this was real. The man you were in love with was sitting next to you.
"Why are you out this late?" You asked.
Neteyam looked away before chuckling nervously. You couldn't help but notice him blush. Giggling to yourself you found it amusing to see Neteyam like this. You had never once seen him so shy.
"I was looking for you actually." He scratched the back of his neck.
"Oh." You breathed in shock.
"I can go if you want me to." Frowning he started to get up.
"No!" Frantically reaching for him you tugged his arm back towards you. "I'd like for you to stay."
Smiling at you his hand found yours. Gently intertwining his fingers with yours. "It's lovely sitting here with you."
Before you could say anything else it started pouring. Gaping in shock you looked up at him through your wet lashes. Laughing he quickly pulled you up.
"Let's get home." He yelled through the rain.
Nodding at him you internally cursed. You’d give anything to stay in that moment with him. Peacefully sitting by the lake. You weren't ready for it to be over yet.
Neteyam kept a firm grip on your hand as the two of you sprinted towards home tree. He looked back at you every so often to check on you.
He abruptly stopped. Furrowing your brow you immediately thought something was wrong.
"Neteyam are you okay?" You walked in front of him to see his face. He looked deep in thought. Like he was contemplating something very important.
Looking at you his serous expression melted. Reaching a hand out he cupped your cheek. You placed your hand overtop of his gently holding on to it.
"What is it?" You smiled at him.
Neteyam felt his heart melt at your sweet smile. He had been in love with you for years. Attempting to work up the courage to confess for months, he had planned to tonight.
He pulled you in closer to him capturing your lips in a kiss. Tensing up you were shocked at his sudden action. It didn't take long for you to relax into the kiss.
His arms encased you pulling you into his chest. As your lips moved in sync your fingers tugged on his braids. You prayed that this wasn't another dream.
"What was that?" You asked after he pulled away to catch his breath.
"Something I've been waiting a long time to do." He smiled. His forehead gently pressed against yours.
It was still raining. The two of you were soaking wet. But you didn't care anymore. You'd gladly get rained on every day if it lead to this.
"It's lovely to be rained on with you." You smiled.

Months of courting later you now found yourself at the tree of souls with Neteyam. You sat on his lap as you lazily kissed. Gently he reached for your queue before offering you his.
You watched as the tendrils danced before connecting. A shiver went down your spine as your eyes dilated. You could feel everything that Neteyam was in that moment.
Feeling his complete unadulterated love for you. Seeing his thoughts. Seeing everything he wanted to do to you. Blushing you looked away.
Neteyam wanted to tell you how cute you looked when you blushed, but he didn’t want to ruin the moment. Through the bond you still received his compliment.
“I see you, Neteyam.” You whispered against his lips.
“Oel ngati kameie.” Neteyam answered before kissing you again.
His fingertips danced along your spine before slowly making their way down. Neteyam began fiddling with the knots on your loincloth. He looked for your approval before continuing. Humming in approval you pulled him in for another kiss.

Neteyam held you close to his chest. His fingers were gently running through your hair. The two of you sat by the fateful lake that started it all.
Your body started to shake no longer able to contain your sobs. Tears were freely spilling out of your eyes. You were biting your lip to keep from wailing.
Ears twitching at your whimpers Neteyam immediately looked down to check on you. Pulling back to get a good look at you, his hands found your face.
"What's wrong my love?" He asked worried. "Why are you crying?"
"It's not real." You whispered.
Neteyam furrowed his brow. You weren't making any sense.
Your head moved back to his chest. Your ear placed gently against his chest longing to hear the beat of his heart. You were met with nothing but silence. A wail escaped you as sobs wracked your body.
"I don't understand what's wrong." Neteyam said panicked.
Looking up you met his eyes. They looked so much younger than your own. Neteyam looked as though he hadn't aged at all. Because he hadn't.
"You don't exist." You whispered to him.
Neteyam didn't understand anything that was going on. Your words went over his head completely. But how was he to understand that he was dead?
"I'm sorry I have to go." You told him gently cupping his face. "I'll be back soon."
Disconnecting your queue from the sprit tree you were left there with yourself. Hugging yourself tightly you began sobbing harder.
Neteyam was killed not long after you mated. He was taken from you before the two of you could even begin your life together.
You were forced to continue on living your life without him. You couldn't even recall the last time he had kissed you. All you could do was relive your memories with him through the spirit tree. But you always knew how it ended. Nothing you could do would change the fact that Neteyam was gone.

Hi can I request a Neteyam fic with his female mate where she is feeling so lonely that she has to call him over the communication device he wears just to get a sense and reminder that he is still there but she doesn’t tell him the real reason why she is calling him and makes up some excuse which he sees right through but she hangs up before he ask if she’s okay. He visits her place and she is shocked to see him and he says that i just wanted to make sure you’re okay hugging her and sitting with her waiting for her to tell him what’s been going on? He reassures her by saying don’t worry, i’m staying right here and she says you feel like home to me. She stays cuddled up to him in his strong arms both of them watching the sky falling asleep being comforted from his warmth? Thanks 😊

Most days you stuck to yourself. Not the most popular person in the clan, you didn't have many friends. You didn't hold any importance amongst the people. Mostly you just helped out with various tasks that needed to be done. You never understood what Neteyam saw in you.
Today was like any other day. You busied yourself with chores until your mate returned home. Jake kept Neteyam busy with training, they often didn't return home until eclipse. It didn't leave you much time to spend with him.
You missed your mate. Afraid to admit it because you thought you were being foolish; after all, you did see him everyday. But you were lacking the quality time you had become accustomed to.
Sitting by yourself you were practicing your weaving. You wanted to improve not being the best at it.
"She still can't get it right." A voice snickered.
"Does she know how to do anything?" Another voice followed by a laugh.
"No wonder Neteyam is never around."
Looking up you saw a few girls your age huddled in a group. They weren't even trying to hide the fact that they were talking about you. Each comment more hurtful than the last, they glanced at you to see your reaction.
Tears started to sting your eyes. Everyone hated you and you didn't know why. Quickly wiping your face you grabbed your half finished basket and fled. You couldn't stand to hear anything else.
They smirked as they watched you leave. Acting as though they accomplished a mission. Quickly they went back to their conversation waiting for their next victim.
No wonder Neteyam is never around.
The words replayed over and over again in your head. You started to question everything. Had Neteyam grown tired of you? Was he purposely avoiding you and blaming it on training?
You felt like you were going to be sick. Struggling to take in breaths through your cries you felt like something was tightening in on your throat. Reaching up you were met with the communicator Neteyam gave you.
He wanted to make sure you had a way to contact him in case of emergencies. You hardly ever used it, you were too afraid of bothering him while he was busy.
Would Neteyam even pick up if I called? You wondered to yourself.
Your anxious mind had convinced you that your mate no longer cared for you. As you pressed the button to call out you were preparing yourself to be met with silence.
"Neteyam?" You whispered.
One. Two. Three seconds. Your heart was pounding in your chest.
"Hello Ma'Y/N!" The cheery voice of your mate rang through your ears.
Sighing in relief you placed a hand over your uneasy heart. Neteyam was still there. He still cared for you.
"Sorry I accidentally hit the button." You rushed off.
"Is everyth-" he started before you cut the communicator off. You didn't want to bother him with something as silly as this. You had been overreacting.
"Y/N?" He questioned again his brow furrowing.
He couldn't help the nagging feeling in his stomach that something was wrong. The communication device had been disconnected, so you had cut it off or it had been broken.
Anxiety filled him at the thought of you in danger. Without a second thought he picked up his bow ready to rush to your side.
"Where do you think your going boy?" Jake looked his son up and down.
"I'm leaving sir." Neteyam spoke firmly, "Y/N needs me."
Not paying attention to Jake’s protests, Neteyam made his way towards your shared home. “Y/N?” He asked as he poked his head inside. You were nowhere to be found.
Turning around he made his way back into the forest. There was one clearing you always found yourself at to think. Usually if you weren’t home that’s where’d you be.
Neteyam’s heart broke at the sight of you. Legs held firmly against your chest, you looked so small and fragile.
“Ma’Y/N, what’s wrong?” He asked before rushing to your side.
Brows furrowing in confusion you looked up at him. “Neteyam what are you doing here?”
“You worried me.” He pulled you into his arms. “I just wanted to make sure you’re okay.”
Sighing you snuggled into his embrace. You felt foolish for letting the petty words of others get into your head.
“Do you want to tell me what’s going on?” He softly asked.
Taking a deep breath you explained everything that had been going on today. You felt him start to bristle in anger.
“It’s okay Ma’Teyam.” You started. “You’re here now. I’m okay.”
You felt him relax under you. Neteyam pulled you tighter against him. He hated the way others made you question his feelings for you.
“Don’t you have to get back to training?” You asked him.
“Don’t worry about that. I’m staying right here.” He kissed the top of your head.
You stayed cuddled in his arms watching as the stars started to illuminate in the night sky. Your eyes felt heavy as you tried to blink back the sleepiness.
“You feel like home to me Neteyam.” You whispered before sleep overtook you.
“You’re my home too Ma’Y/N.” Neteyam gently kissed your head. Looking up at the stars he sighed in content. There was nowhere else he’d rather be.
