Tolerance in an Intolerant World

Seeing people come together to mourn the Queen, what has become of the tolerant Britain we love, a nation in turmoil, makes the headlines in the ‘Mail on Sunday’ as a fight breaks out. The last time we saw people come together in this way, was when Princess Diana died.

We’re seeing changes and still many intolerances, scenes in London where police were attacked by demonstrators. (Source: https://www.thepoke.co.uk) In the UK through Brexit and the world pandemic, we have already seen changes, we’ve become more self-absorbed, and we have become more intolerant.

It’s not like a broken leg, people sympathise with, but what is it going to take? In a world that has become less tolerant and people less approachable, it is time to be more tolerant and more approachable.

For those targeted, it is a difficult time. It isn’t easy to say how you feel. But what happened to tolerance, what happened to patience, to understanding, what happened to being helpful, to acceptance, just what happened? We have to all want to care and be more tolerant, to help one another. We should be working together.

Self care starts with each of us. Prioritising self care is important to both your physical and mental health. It is important to get to know yourself, to learn to work with your own inner wisdom. It is important to hone in on your own strengths. That way you learn to appreciate and become tolerant towards others.
