I simply think this fandom doesn't give Wei Wuxian enough credit for the various ways in which he saved Lan Wangji

saw someone comparing james patterson and stephen king the other day and yeah, i guess they are technically similar - they're both writers of "lowbrow" genre fiction who churn out a million books a year and have an evergreen appeal to a certain type of middle-aged man. the main difference is that once you finish a stephen king book you can usually remember what happened in it, whereas once you finish a james patterson book it will vanish from your brain immediately after you turn the last page.

at the risk of living up to my blog title today, i was so fucking excited about sera when inquisition first came out. i had come out a couple of years before but inquisition was around the time i was realizing i was a lesbian specifically, and i was thrilled for to have a dragon age game where i would not only (allow myself to) play a sapphic character for the first time, but pursue a relationship with a lesbian character.
and then i played the game. and when i wasn't flirting with her, the dialogue was weird & mean, and then i got to her romance quest and got to hear every single other character be mean about her too
anyway kristjanson gets no benefit of the doubt from me

the bg3 fanbase is funny as fuck in a bad way for primarily shipping gale, who is the most garrulous man you can imagine, with astarion, whom gale goes "uh 😐 not really looking to talk with you man" at when prompted for conversation, and not with wyll, whose party admission gets a "gale approves" and then they proceed to compliment each other 24/7.
update: i think ship wars are stupid as fuck + this is about something very different. a very notable problem not just among the general bg3 and d&d fan circles but among certain fans of this sort of fantasy genre as a whole.

Arlecchino's whole deal is unbelievable
Arlecchino: Huh I wonder what's causing my weird powers? I can't really worry about that right now tho, I've gotta become King and then kill my "Mother".
*Kills Clervie and "Mother"*
Arlecchino: Huh I wonder why I was able to defeat a Fatui Harbinger when I'm like 17 or so? I can't really worry about that right now tho, I've gotta be in jail and become a Harbinger.
*Is in jail for a while and becomes a Harbinger*
Arlecchino: Huh I wonder why I am-
Pierro: Hey what's up hello, anyways you're descended from the Crimson Moon Dynasty of Khaenri'ah. I'm sure that this is a lot for you to take in so-
Arlecchino: Ok.
Pierro: ...You're just cool with that?
Arlecchino: IDK maybe? I can't really worry about that at the moment, I'm a father now. This orphanage full of children I love (who also are child soldiers and are not allowed to leave or else I'll execute them except maybe now I'm just gonna wipe their memories IDK I'm morally complex) isn't gonna run itself.
*Runs the orphanage/spy recruitment initiative*
Me, the fucking player: WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU ARE KHAENRI'AN? WHY WASN'T THIS BROUGHT UP IN YOUR FUCKING QUEST?? OR ANYTHING ELSE????
Arlecchino, talking to me through my phone: I honestly don't know why you care, I'm too busy to give a shit. Anyways, I'm gonna go fight fate itself I guess. I'm sure that I don't share any thematic parallels with any other Khaenri'an characters (particularly as it relates to acting and family angst) and that I haven't made the idea of 'curses' on Khaenri'ans and what they entail even more complicated than they already were. See ya.

writing is hard, yeah, but writing a new story after you've already written something you're proud of is a new genre of hard. you keep wanting to replicate the magic of your first story, and that's where you fall into a trap because nothing you do ever measures up to your expectations. the words feel stilted, the plot feels forced, and you feel drained with every sentence you churn out. you have to break free from the trap. and it is so damn hard to do so.

I just thought how each book in the inkheart, inkspell, Inkdeath trilogy explores big questions in literature.
Inkheart: what if characters from books became real?
Inkspell: what if we came into the book?
Inkdeath: what if a fanfic writer got in control of the world?
The last one is about Orpheus idk the least obvious one.

I wonder if the reason why I tend to get overlooked as an LU writer is because I tend to write for Wild and Hyrule and not the "cool" Links like Legend, Warriors, Time or Four.

You know, episodes-wise, Egon's Ghost and The Boogeyman is Back, aren't that far away from each other (Season 2, episode 60, and Season 3 episode 3. about 8 episodes apart)
Can you imagine almost/kinda dying and ending up in the Netherworld (not to be confused with the Netherlands), and then, like, a few months later, almost dying again?
No wonder Egon was so terrified it brought the Boogeyman back. Sure they risk their lives each day but those were two incidences where death was very real for him, and they weren't too far away from each other
