Hey you. You know you should be doing The Thing. I don't want to do The Thing, either. But we can sit down and do it for 2 minutes together. Then we can do it for 5 minutes. Then 10. And so on and so forth until it is done. I'll be coming back to reiterate this.
To whoever needs to hear it: it does not have to be perfect. It does not have to be world altering. It just needs to be done. And I'll sit with you while you do The Thing.
Now go. Stop scrolling. Go work on The Thing. I'll be back to check on you and cheer us both on.

Hey i just wanna ask since your blog is really helpful, can you give me some advice on how to stop being lazy or how to be more productive? This have been a problem since i was little and im telling you i wanna make it stop
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
HOW TO EXIT YOUR LAZY GIRL ERA
LAZINESS IS NOT AN ACTION, BUT A MINDSET. If you are truly committed, disciplined and motivated, you will have no problems achieving your goals and being productive. So, no negative self-talk & a limiting mindset only holds you back.
EAT THE FROG OR CHICK
Eating the frog refers to doing the hardest task on your to-do list first to get in your productivity flow and conquer your to-do list easily.
Or, what I prefer, is eating the chick(s). Doing the small impact tasks first gives you enough confidence to do your harder tasks. Eat the one you prefer!
FIGURE OUT THE REAL ISSUE. Is this a task you hate? Then make it enjoyable for yourself. Afraid of failing? Expect yourself to fail. Is it overwhelming? Then only do a fraction of the task.  Find a solution. DON’T LIMIT YOURSELF TO TIME. Avoid timing yourself or giving yourself a time limit. Just do your tasks without worrying about time, even if you run out, you’ve still been productive.  SET YOUR ENVIRONMENT FOR SUCCESS. Lay out everything that you have to do, minimise common distractions and remove anything that makes you feel anything but productive. MAKE THE TRANSITION EASY, from non-productive to productive. Ensure that you have a customised ritual before being productive, have a particular time to start being productive and have a specific place where you are productive.  AVOID PERFECTION. It doesn’t matter if your tasks aren’t achieved at a high standard, but if you commit to just doing it, that consistency provides more growth and helps to do that same task again.  PLAN YOUR DAY, PROPERLY. Don’t be vague when planning. Outline what you need to do for each task, because when we know what we have to do, it seems more achievable and less out of reach.  BALANCE IS KEY. Taking breaks, eating healthy meals throughout and getting the blood flowing increases our productivity. Please, do not overexert yourself to be productive.

hi hi hi. though new year is always associated with new beginnings, reflections, revision, goal setting, prepping and being excited about starting again, it can also be a moment of disappointment to those who didn't find peace and happiness as much this year. it's okay if you couldn't complete all that you had planned or didn't come out as the kind of person you aimed to be. look at you love, we made it at the end of 2022 and that's all that matters!! you don't have to punish yourself or “make up” for all the inconsistency by filling your schedule up to the brim on the beginning of jan. take it slow k? take a deep breath and whenever you are ready, focus on the things that matter. no matter how hopeless times can seem to be, i assure you you are safe and loved. i hope this new year brings you lots and lots of happy memories, new foods to try, new experiences which makes you smile later, people who'll love you unconditionally, creators who truly speak to you, books that makes you want to re read a hundred times and step forward to your dreams. ily ily ily ♡

How I limit my productivity and why you probably should too
Yes. I limit my productivity. I monitor my time being spent on being "productive" and doing things that are focused on growth instead of existence. Now I don't mean to say that I just ignore myself and don't try to be a better person. I'm talking in context of stereotypical social media productivity; things like studying for hours, working extra shifts, maximizing time spent on growth podcasts and self help books instead of indulgences like music and fantasy novels. I don't mean analyzing your bad behaviors and working on breaking bad habits. I'm talking more on the lines of marketable growth.
I have noticed a major increase over a couple years in people trying to be as productive as possible. They prioritize productivity and growth (again talking more of the marketable, social media style, not personal) and minimizing time spent living and merely existing. We are sprinting a marathon it seems. And I do not like sprinting. Or even running. It's my most dreaded part of my gym time. I acknowledge that it is necessary, and so is spending time being productive and working on your marketable growth. But it shouldn't be the main part of every day, just like sprinting for 10 minutes on a treadmill shouldn't be the main part of every workout you do.
I love informative podcasts just as much as the next person and TED Daily is a favorite for sure, as well as various fish and nature podcasts are too! But I limit these to my hour+ commute to campus every other day. When I'm walking around, I listen to music or maybe a "brain numbing" podcast (ones that don't make you think and comprehend and analyze things like story ones [magnus archives eg] or paranormal or mythology or crime style podcasts). I listen to pleasure things, not to thinking things. This gives my brain noise that's just noise. It let's my brain slip out of analytical scientist mode for a while and maybe dance while I walk around!
My gym time is scheduled. I spend the scheduled time in the gym and I enjoy it so much! But when it's not gym time, it's not gym time. I do my morning stretches and yoga and I do my hour in the gym every other day. This is time purely for the gym and nothing else. It's a great release but can also become taxing very quickly, so I only think about it when it's time to.
Study time is the same. It's scheduled and I study when it's study time. I don't walk around and look at flashcards anymore. This is not helpful at all and you could easily hurt yourself or others. You won't retain the information really and you're just adding extra stress into your already stressful life.
I have a schedule for my week and I block out my productive times. My gym time. My study time. My intellectual reading time. My information podcasts. All those things. But I schedule them AFTER I have blocked out classes, work, my slow mornings, chores, and pleasure items like a hair mask night or a night out or something. Of course I make time for improving myself and like I said they are also scheduled, but not with more importance than my actual life. And I also make sure that I know to be flexible with myself. Sometimes I have to add in extra study time and reduce time spent elsewhere if I have a test or something. Sometimes I get sick or I lose track of time while playing video games. Sometimes I sit in the bath way longer than I should. And that's ok. Sometimes we need to have the discipline to put pleasure aside EVERY NOW AND THEN and Sometimes we need the grace to put productivity on the back burner EVERY NOW AND THEN.
Don't ignore your responsibilities, but don't ignore your life either. So please, make just as much time for your pleasure as you do for your productivity. They're both important, but don't let school and life weigh you down so much that rain is annoying and angering and that you miss your niece's 3rd birthday. Dance in the rain. Jump in the puddles. Spin and laugh as you get soaked. And eat the easy bake cakes your little cousin bakes. And read your friend's kid a story. And draw little doodles in your notes. And smile. And try to make someone else smile. And drink your too sweet, too hot coffee. And listen to that song that you'd be embarrassed if anyone knew you liked it. Please don't forget to live.

hey can u give tips on improving ur attention span?
Tumblr media
INCREASING YOUR ATTENTION SPAN
DAILY MEDITATION. Meditation is known for increasing focus and concentration. Try to increase the minutes you meditate each day, limiting the number of times your mind wanders/
DRINK BLACK TEA. Black tea contains L-theanine which affects the part of your mind which helps with focusing.
LIMIT DISTRACTIONS, especially those around you. Phones, TV, background noise, or bustling scenery are not the best features for a productive session. A calm, quiet, minimalist area is ideal.
TAKING SHORT BREAKS BETWEEN. Your brain needs time to recharge and refocus on the task at hand. Some ideas are taking a short walk, meditating, reading.
START DOCUMENTING THE TIMES WHEN YOUR MIND WANDERS. This helps you to be more aware of anything that may need to change. E.g my mind wanders more in the afternoon than at night, so I’ll do most of my work in the afternoon.
REGULAR EXERCISE. When there’s more blood in the brain, our concentration increases, so be sure to find ways to get your body moving and blood pumping.
CREATE A MINIMALIST WORKSPACE. Remove distracting decor, add reminders of anything productive and make it comfortable enough that you focus for long periods.

The dream you're looking for is in the work you're avoiding ✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
Guess who got their phone broken 💗 but it's alright, it's all ok now & I noted down all I did in the past 3 days. My exams were a little bad, really bad to be completely honest, but it's alright, it was my first time giving exams this semester and I learnt what I need to do.
11th of July, 2023 💕
100 days of productivity — day 5, week 1
Economic exam preparation ~ I was so confused, there were so many concepts I'd missed because of my sickness but I tried YouTube and notes online. Procrastination really did get the best of me. I need to lessen my use of insta, seriously, I think Tumblr is more safe in that regard.
Microeconomics — Introduction & Consumer's Equilibrium
Statistics — Introduction & Organisation of Data
I need to work on my graphs, practice more and overall concepts of microeconomics. Also, clear up my concepts on stats. It's easy, but revision is needed.

100 days of productivity — day 6, week 1
Economics exam, yikes. Next exam was Psych the next day, so I was really nervous because I wanted to score well in it! ❣️
However.
Procrastination got to me, again. I studied for a while then thought it was too easy and I could do it at night, which, evidently, I couldn't.
I think rather than seeing easy topics as something to skip studying or take easy, I should put more effort in them so I can get them perfect and let it pay back to me.
What is Psychology? & Methods of Enquiry
I need to work on my basic concepts, esp in ch-2, and notes. Visual learning works best for me, and making my own notes is essential to my learning 📖

100 days of productivity — day 7, week 1
Dear god, I think my psych exam was the most terrible. Which hurt me the most.
I really did lose hope after this. Not only did my incredibly unclear concepts and no notes not help, but the exam was extremely tough, the questions were really vague and I didn't understand them, and the worst of all, I literally forgot I had a whole section to do as objective even after rechecking. I lost 5 marks from that, maybe more.
That really hurt.
Tomm was English exam! I had seen what had happened in the last papers, so I really worked hard here.
I mostly focused on literature, since the creative writing formats were mostly very easy and took less than an hour.
Chapters with details are hard!
Anyways, I was really anxious until the end, and kept a few detailed chapters to the morning after to revise.
I really need to work on studying chapters I've missed before the exams come. It was so messy and frustrating trying to understand all these chapters with online notes and summaries, especially when the chapters are so open ended and the teacher is so strict with answers 💌

100 days of productivity — day 8, week 2
WAR!!! IS!!! OVER!!!!
Final exam day, I was nervous but it was actually quite alright!
I absolutely need to work on my speed, though.
Also, I almost always exceeded the word limit in answers. So, I need to practice my creative writing more, not just in my head, but actually on paper, and be more perfectionist in my answers in literature.
I went out with my big brother to eat street food and it was all very lovely 🍝
I also wrote a lot of poetry, which I'm really quite proud of. I also received some really good news! 💕
New week! The first week was really, really overwhelming, and I don't want my future self to end up like that again. It was exhausting and hurtful and I want to get better.
In the end, I've got a lot of stuff to work with and I'm really proud of my self to survive all this! ✧・゚: *✧・゚:* I hope nothing but peace upon my future.
