Papyrus And Selective Personalities: Every Example Of It So Far

An often overlooked character trait of Papyrus is selective personalities. What are selective personalities? 

By selective personalities I essentially mean that Papyrus changes the way he acts around certain people, specifically his brother.

Now why this is could be lots of different reasons, however im not interested in discussing the specific intricacies of why he does it, but rather when he does it. So without further a do, i present to you, every example of Papyrus and his selective personalities!

What They’re Going To Do To Us

When with Sans Papyrus says that he doesn’t know whats going to happen after we’re captured.

However despite this when he’s away from Sans he shows a clear understanding of what will happen to us.

Ice Cream Or Snow?

During one of the phone calls in which both Papyrus and Sans are present Papyrus seems to confuse ice cream and snow. 

When Papyrus is by himself though he shows to be perfectly capable of knowing what snow is. 

Papyrus also is shown to know about ice-cream and considers it separate from snow. 

Hotland Emotional Aura, Is It Negative Or Positive?

Papyrus claims to love Hotland in regards to MTT.

This doesn’t add up though, as he directly states later on that he dislikes Hotland. 

That Giant Ball

At first glance it seems as if Papyrus doesn’t know what the sun is as he doesn’t seem to recognize it when with the gang.

However when alone he shows a pretty clear understanding of the sun and wind.

This doesn’t seem to just be Papyrus knowing about the sun but not what it looks like either, since he knows that it shines on your skin, and he also knows about the moon, which no other monsters really comment on.

Has His Bro REALLY Never Seen A Human?

Sans claims that Papyrus has never met a human, this is also backed up by Papyrus not recognizing Frisk as one when meeting them with Sans.

Despite this Papyrus clearly understands human anatomy and culture.

His knowledge of the surface world (seen in the previous entry) further support the idea that he knows about humans as well. 

Labradory...?

When calling Papyrus (while Sans is present) in front of Alphys’ lab you’ll get some dialogue that suggests that Papyrus doesn’t know what a lab is.

After Sans leaves though you are able to get this dialogue inside the lab.

Papyrus clearly knows what a lab is here, as he mentions it by name and knows it involves science. 

Puzzles

When dealing with Sans and Papyrus’ japes Papyrus treats his puzzles as if they’re the best around.

When his brother isn’t around he shows a strong sense of self-awareness in this regard though. He calls his own previous puzzles “awful”.

We know he means this too since he has a book on “advanced puzzle construction for critical minds” and critiques and offers professional advice on everyone else’s puzzles through out the game.

Grease Hell

Normally Papyrus rants about his dislike for Grillby’s.

However there’s an exception, Undyne will begin to state her fondness for the place, and Papyrus lies and goes along with it.

Papyrus, What’s Your Favorite Food?

During the Undertale Q&A when with Sans Papyrus claims that he doesn’t know his own favorite food.

This seems to be something he clearly shares with his close friends though as Flowey (his best friend) not only knows this but wonders why “no one else knows the answer to this stupid question”.

Off On A Vacation...

During the King Papyrus ending Papyrus and Sans will talk to you about how the underground has been. With Sans present Papyrus claims that they’re all just on vacation.

However when alone he specifically asks us not to tell Sans what he’s about to say.

He then goes on to express remorse over the death of his beloved friends.

Going On A Vacation

Papyrus and Undyne talk about going on a vacation together.

However Papyrus pretty instanly switches up afterwards and says that he would never go on a vacation for any reason.

Fl..who..ry?

Papyrus and Undyne talk about Papyrus’ “flower friend” and when asked about him Papyrus says this.

However he clearly hesitates and lies here. He confirms this afterwards too. 

We know Papyrus knows Floweys name too because he started the “Flowey Fan Club”.

Closing Thoughts

This post wasn’t necessarily meant to be an in-depth analyzation like my previous one (and future ones in the works) it’s more so supposed to list and acknowledge the existence of Papyrus and his lying/selective personalities as I often bring it up with people not really knowing what I’m talking about. It’s unfortunate that this side of Papyrus isnt explored however, as it’s a very interesting trait and one that deserves more analyzing. I hope that the main take away from this post is that Papyrus is one of, if not, the most in-depth character in Undertale, and I beg you to PLEASE not water him down or prevent yourself from looking into his lore. With that said, always remember, Papyrus knows.

If it's not obvious already, I absolutely adore this fic. You want some REALLY good characterisation? A juicy plot that has me wishing I had the space for a red-string theory board? An attention to canon details that make me scream? Communication between characters!!!!!

I'm cheating here by linking the entire series (which is 11 fics of various levels of interconnectedness) but it's so worth it. This series tore my heart out, stomped on it, stuck it back in and gave me a sweet little kiss at the end. Several times over!! I cried like 4 times in one night while binging it!! Also this series contains one of the few OC/Canon stories that I enjoy!!

I actually read Burning Mountain first and then everything else in order and proceeded to LOSE MY GODDAMN MIND reading the first and second fics because OH. That's why the end of BM was so... OHhhhHHhhhh.........

The current fics included in the series are all finished, but I'm not sure if the author intends to come back to it in the future.

In the meantime, their other fics A Little Bit(ty) of Trouble (F) and Cold Blood, Warm Heart (O/U) have also stolen my heart. Those ALSO deal with dark, complicated topics so tread carefully and enjoy!

AU Bros If You Got A Pet Cat!

Undertale-

Sans: Another excuse for him to stay in bed! He’ll basically bribe the cat with treats to lay on him in the mornings.. and afternoons.. and evenings.. you get the point! He absolutely adores the mornings when he wakes up to you both basically laying on top of him.

Papyrus: He doesn’t really like dogs because of the one that kept taking his special attacks! He’ll try to take the cat for walks, which you know will end up being the funniest thing ever! I feel like he would want to get another one, his excuse will be that he doesn’t want the first one getting lonely, but we all know he likes seeing you happy about the cats.

Underfell-

Red: Smuggles that little dude in his hoodie whenever Edge makes him go out to work. He absolutely MELTS when he sees you snuggled up with the cat. Will 10/10 times join you two. Edge likes cats so he won’t really bother Red when he’s with the cat instead of working.

Edge: When you first of all get the cat, he’s surprised. He already has Doomfanger, so as long as both cats get along, he decides it’s his cat now too! He’s like a dad that always says he doesn’t want any pets, but then ends up loving them the most.

Underswap-

Blue: New companion! Will definitely decide it’s his job to take the cat for walks. He’s the type to get clothes for the cat; be it costumes, little sweaters, onesies, etc! He builds up a room for the cat and its cat towers, yet there’s still like 3 in the living room.

Stretch: Another one who will smuggle the cat! This time, in his hoodie. When you notice both of your beloveds are in the hoodie, he’ll invite you in. So now you’re sandwiched between the two for ATLEAST 2 hours. But also if he ever got scratched and clawed up by the cat, his only reaction would be “This is fine.”

Nox: Another cat person! He’ll mostly to sit around and relax on the couch with the cat. But, he does quite like those little red laser lights. And, to be frank, the cat also likes it too. If the cat sheds a lot or is white and fluffy, he’ll buy a lint roller for every room and closet of the house. He loves the cat, just not the fur as much.

Rus: It’s basically y’alls cat now. He’s a papa. Whenever you two decide to have a dinner date night inside, he’ll also set a tiny plate out for the cat at the table. He then calls it a “family dinner.” The cat has learned to sit on the table. Well, this is life now, but who’s complaining?

Horrortale-

Ash: Since they’re usually calm, he’ll be okay with it around. He probably wouldn’t be able to handle something big like a dog. He would be the happiest skeleton if it decided to lay down on his lap. His favorite pastime ends up becoming gardening while you lay out on a lawn chair with the cat on your lap. It’s quiet and calm, just how he likes.

Poplar: He has his cat, Chicken! This man is a cat LOVER. He will gladly cuddle up with you, your cat, and Chicken! Really the sweetest sight anyone has ever seen so his brother and everybody else in the house will snap pics of it to send to you both later.

okay so i live in a place where it's cold very like 80% of the year, including now and because it was really freakin cold today, it got me thinking about how the climates of undertale really work and that in turn got me thinking about how the bad sans gang™ would react to the cold.

so like first off, do monsters even react to the temperature changing. i mean undyne overheats in her armour when you enter hotland so presumably she does react to changes in her surrounding temperatures. but undyne isn't made entirely out of magic and bones and she likely is a little bit more human than other monsters since a really popular theory about her eye is that she got injected with determination.

but sans and papyrus are skeletons and live in snowdin and that place is constantly covered in snow. (side note: HOW THE FUCK IS THERE SNOW UNDER THE MOUNTAIN. like it could be magic but that's just weird especially considering the fact that waterfall which is right next to snowdin is a marshy grassland which if you know anything about that type of environment you know that snow doesn't really work, okay rant over back to the skeletons).

i've seen a few pieces of art and fanfiction that basically make it so the skeletons react to the cold like a human would; frostbite, hypothermia, ect... but thought is always like would they react that way. most versions of sans are wearing hoodies and shorts and slippers out in the cold and they seem just fine.

cross is wearing like sixty different layers but it's made pretty clear that his outfit is supposed to be a really embellished royal guard uniform so jury's out on him actually being hot underneath all the fluff.

my conclusion is that skeleton monsters are pretty resilient to the cold in general and that it takes a lot to get any of them uncomfortable when it comes to the weather.

so onto the headcanons.

i think that horror, killer, and dust would react to the cold in a similar way because they all lived in snowdin for most of their lives prior to getting hired/adopted into nightmares gang. i think all three of them would really enjoy the snow and the cold in general

horror would be a little more adverse to it because of the hole in his skull and getting water out of there seems kinda annoying to deal with. killer starts a snowball fight and immediately gets his ass handed to him by everyone else. dust just would sorta starfish into the snow and stay there for the whole day. he's like those huskies who just stay outside for as long as possible and when someone drags him back inside he's just laying on his back, covered in snow.

cross is interesting because he also technically grew up in snowdin but most of the universes that x-gaster put him into were on the surface and along with his fluffy coat and scarf i think he's less hyped about the cold. like with all the layers he'll be fine but if you take that from him and he's just outside with a turtleneck and shorts, he'll be shivering after like 15 minutes.

nightmare hates the cold. i've seen a few headcanons that involve his slime/sludge freezing and i think that's really fucking cool. nightmare would rather eat like (idk what nightmare doesn't like to eat but assume something icky) than go outside. if it's under like 35 degrees he's just going to stay inside. he also fucking hates the snow with a burning passion because if it melts on him it'll hurt (i'm actually not sure if the whole, nightmare is hurt by water thing is canon to dreamtale lore, but i think it's cool so i'm sticking with it)

The story of: Subterkamytale takes place on the Earth...where the Reapertale characters...I mean gods reign over humans and monsters and where the gods, monsters and humans live peacefully in the Earth.

In Subterkamytale the monsters are new monsters that have similarities with the monsters in Undertale.

However, the peace that exists on Earth is threatened when a radical group of humans began to spread hatred towards the gods and fear towards monsters, triggering a devastating war between humans and monsters.

The devastating war ended with the overwhelming victory of the humans, the monsters were expelled and exiled in the underground, where they were locked by a magical barrier imposed by the humans.

The story continues with the original gods, that is, the gods of Reapertale, since...the gods, witnessing how the population of humans and monsters began to spread, the balance of life was being broken since there were too many mortals living on Earth...and that in addition to that, humans and monsters had destroyed the peace on Earth, they decided to do something to regain balance and to recover the peace, they decided to create a God with the power to kill: Sans and Papyrus.

The gods, after creating their God with the power to kill, decided to send their two: Emissaries and semi-goddesses of mercy: Lyra and Frisk to the Earth.

Frisk in this Au is in charge of teaching mercy to humans and she will do everything possible to recover the peace that was on Earth.

Lyra in this Au is in charge of restoring the hope that the monsters lost and she will look for a way to free them from the underground.

(Before starting with the characters of this Au, tell you that All the gods of this Au including the demigoddesses: Frisk and Lyra...and finally including Chara are divine/spiritual beings.

Therefore they do not have a physical or established form, they can take on multiple forms (one of those forms is their human form with which they can go to earth without mortals discovering their identity as gods), and "Death/Sans and Papyrus" takes on multiple faces/appearances, and the "Sans" we know in this Au is one of them).

-Emissaries and semi-goddesses of mercy:

Frisk and Lyra.

In Subterkamytale Frisk keeps the six human souls that are emissaries of the same character but corrupted by darkness and hatred.

-Beloved acolyte of faith/The Corrupt former Goddess that corrupts souls/former Goddess of Hope alongside Asriel and princess of the gods:

Chara.

She slowly became an outcast, as humanity grew with the hatred of gods and fear of monsters, she remained firmly well.

Over time, Chara had also suffered harassment and abuse from the humans who began to hate gods and fear monsters, which would have caused Chara to steadily begin to or she new eternal mission is: corrupt the souls of humans even more.

Deep down, she never wanted to disappoint the gods she loved so much...especially Toriel, Chara sought solace in her love for the gods more and more so she forged a friendship with his brother Asriel, Chara and Asriel became inseparable.

Chara once managed to steal Sans's scythe which she uses to take Toriel's life or so she thought... since Lyra before being sent to Earth saves Toriel from being killed.

She dislikes Sans quite a bit but without actually hating him.

She has a great hatred for humanity, yet she appreciates without loving monsters.

She appreciates the humans who use the hatred that Chara uses to further corrupt they souls.

Chara also she dislikes Lyra a little but without hating her for save Toriel.

-Goddess of life and queen of the gods: Toriel.

She brought life to the world and created humans and monsters, all of them are her creation and her children, she learned that Asgore, Gerson and Gaster propose the creation of death.

Toriel, disgusted by this decision, fled the divine sphere and hid in isolation on Earth, where if it had not been for Lyra saving her, she would have been killed by Chara when she lowered her Guard before Chara.

-Gods of death: Sans and Papyrus.

Subterkamytale Papyrus and Sans' appearance and clothing are the same as Reapertale Sans and Reapertale Papyrus.

Papyrus is the kind and compassionate side of death while Sans is the not kind or compassionate side of death.

The two take care of souls truly corrupted and completely contaminated by hatred.

The two also take care of all the souls of the Earth, both human and monsters, obviously.

Sans and Papyrus can manipulate a Soul, that means they can harvest souls, that is, take the souls of mortals.

Everything Sans and Papyrus touch dies instantly.

Sans has two clocks with sand of souls where in one of those clocks he observes the life of each living or mortal being, that is, human and monster, and in the other clock he observes how much time they have left to live. His watches are black and the souls inside are the same color as the 6 human souls but the souls inside the watches are not the 6 human souls.

His brother Papyrus also has a single clock that allows him to observe the lives of mortals and when they will appear where he wait them.

Papyrus also carries most of the burden as he takes responsibility for organizing events and maintenance on Earth while Sans takes the role as judge of souls.

Finding Chara's corrupted soul, Sans tries to end her suffering but she is more cunning and steals one of his scythes.

Sans has a big addiction to coffee.

Sans and his brother Papyrus have black wings.

Sans uses his black scythe as a weapon, Chara stole a another scythe from him.

Papyrus uses a smaller black scythe than Sans.

Every time Sans kills or takes some healthy and pure soul, Sans becomes very weak and his soul decreases a little.

Sans can fight other gods without receiving serious damage, also in this Au the gods cannot kill each other.

-Goddess of fortune: Muffet.

-God of the home: Grillby.

-Goddess of knowledge: Alphys.

Alphys is quite shy and saved Mettaton's soul with her magic.

-Goddess of war: Undyne.

She mistakes Frisk for Chara so she attempts to destroy her corrupted soul but she is stopped by Sans clarifying that she is not the one she is looking for.

-God of the heaven and king of the gods: Asgore.

Asgore was aware of the imbalance that Toriel's love generated and he made a decision that had to be made but no one blames Toriel and that is simply because he decided that way.

Asgore realized that due to the imbalance, human beings are taking advantage of life and therefore are victims of darkness and apathy, death was necessary to take advantage of life and he understands that what Toriel did was with love but In the end Asgore made a difficult decision but he did so with humility and sadness.

He is a kind and gentle god and king...but he does what is necessary.

-God of hope/now demi-god of hope and prince of the gods: Asriel.

He and his sister Chara were the gods of hope but Chara stopped being the goddess of hope.

Asriel is the eldest son of the gods: Toriel and Asgore and Chara's brother, he wanted to protect Chara since she believed in him.

When Asriel died, his soul was corrupted and divided into two parts:

-One part created a being that possessed the capricious magic, faith and broken hope and broken dreams of Asriel called: Flowey.

In this Au Flowey is the embodiment of despair and bitterness.

Flowey became Chara's partner and Flowey and Chara are not friends.

-The other part unfortunately began to break but thanks to the determination of Lyra and Frisk since they knew that Asriel died...that part did not break and Asriel returned to life.

Now Asriel is a demi-god just like Lyra and Frisk.

-Mettaton:

He is a human who, upon losing his life due to being killed by a human after protecting several monsters and humans from the attack of the human that killed him, his soul was used to turn him into a crystal golem.

-God of wisdom: Gerson.

He has a great indifference towards human beings and has an admiration towards monsters.

-God of magic: Gaster.

Gaster was in charge of creating and ending death in its entirety, giving them magic, however due to the fact that Gaster had never created anything before there were unpredictable consequences and two gods of death were created instead of one, Sans and Papyrus...both with the title of God of death as two sides of the same coin.

Both...I mean Sans and Papyrus are made of a mixture of magic, wisdom and darkness.

Can I ask for the Fellswap Gold brothers and Undertale brothers with a S/O who ALWAYS wears headphones due to their sensitive hearing.

But one day, the headphones break! And now they’re stuck for a few hours without anything to quiet down the noise.

So the S/O distances themselves away from the skellies. Literally. Mainly because they can hear almost all noise possible including the skellies “breathing” and so the S/O keeps a distance to not get completely overwhelmed and snap at them by accident until they get a new pair of headphones.

Sans: He understands this, he also has sensory issues of his own. His are more centered around touch, however, he gets just how overwhelming this feeling can be. So, when they break and you need space, he accepts that easily. He'll leave you alone physically, and actually ends up leaving the house. Coming back an hour or so later. You'll hear him shuffling behind the door of your room, before it cracks open and his hand slips through holding... a new pair of your same beloved headphones!

Papyrus: He's especially worried when they break. He knows he's loud, and doesn't always have control over his volume, so when you distance yourself, he understands. When he is around you, he tries his best to keep his voice low, and while his love language is quality time, he respects this physical boundary until your new headphones arrive.

Wine: This shouldn't be too much of an issue with him as he's a workaholic with a very time-demanding job and isn't around most of the time. However, when he comes home late and he slips into your shared room to wind down and notices you're not wearing them, he knows something is up. He speaks softly and when you convey that you want distance, he'll nod in understanding. He'll leave the room and he'll either spend the night on the couch or stay up the rest of the night working in his home office (not at all uncommon for him). When you awake in the morning, you'll find a note in the kitchen from him, saying that he left you a plate of breakfast in the fridge, and he's got a surprise for you in the mail that should be arriving today. He expedited a new pair of your favorite headphones.

Coffee: He understands this, though he is more clingy then the rest of the guys and might have a harder time giving you the space you're asking for. He's just anxious, and will respect your boundary, but maybe keeping up some texts with him wouldn't be a bad idea. When your new headphones arrive, he'll look at you with these puppy eye-lights, and ask if he can hug you.

What do you headcanon everyone's sexuality to be?

honestly I'm very um. whatever about sexuality headcanons. I don't think monsters in undertale see gender and sexuality as we categorize them in real life, so things are a lot more flexible. that being said, i do have Some Thoughts:

alphys is bi. like just bi, she's the only one i have a straightforward headcanon for. she even has the lil pride flag stickers on her water bottle n shit.

i like the idea that asgore and toriel are so old that they still view sexuality as something you Do rather than something you Are, like people used to do back then. i mean asgore obviously loved rudy at some point in his life and toriel has some wild stories from her youth that she'll play coy about, but neither of them would describe themselves as queer. just because that's not how they think of sexuality As A Concept.

i... don't see sans as the kind of guy with a label ? i think when you get down to it, he would technically fit the definition of demi, but he'd zone out halfway through the kind of conversation that leads to that conclusion so he just shrugs it off when you ask him and makes a bad joke to change the subject. also it varies, i like ace sans and i like bi sans too, but straight sans still feels more accurate to me than him being into dudes lmao. he does joke about kissing the homies goodnight tho ("WAIT A SECOND... YOU NEVER KISS ME GOODNIGHT. AM I NOT PART OF THE HOMIES??" "i never kiss anyone bro, we don't have lips" "OH! THAT'S RIGHT!!! ...CAN I STILL BE A HOMIE??" "sure man, knock yourself out")

okay okay i know how it sounds, but y'know that action movie dynamic where the machomen hero duo fights together side by side and spends all the film having very high homoerotic tension with one another except they both have wives and play it off as a bromance because if it was truly gay they would alienate over half of their fanbase? PAPYRUS AND UNDYNE ARE LIKE THAT, BUT PLAYED COMPLETELY UNIRONICALLY. it is completely 100% platonic, they're both HUGE homos in opposite directions and it has no bearing whatsoever on their individual sexualities. it's just the kind of spontaneous homoeroticism that spawns from beating the same guy up every day for enough days in a row. but yeah they're both gay as hell. (also undyne feels like the "10 years ago i married my best friend. my girlfriend isn't too happy about it but me and papyrus were drunk and we thought we could get away with tax fraud" kinda gal).

oh and papyrus doesn't do romance at all. full stop. aro!papyrus my beloved

mettaton had his gender identity crisis already and when he finally worked it out and saw the sexuality crisis in the distance he just decided he wasn't gonna deal with any more of that bullshit

Description: When Papyrus and Sans stay late at Toriel’s house until even after Frisk is asleep, their conversation turns a little dry for Papyrus’ taste. Luckily, Toriel and Sans always know how to leave him laughing.

Laughter is the best medicine, or so they say. Perhaps that’s why Toriel had ended her day with the beloved skeleton brothers by sitting down and trading jokes. Sans sat in the armchair catty-corner, while his brother sat next to her on the couch. Darkness had fallen. What a lovely night for company.

It had started with stories at first, but it seemed that Sans couldn’t help himself around his ‘Tori’, and slowly began devolving the conversation into repetitive puns. That just seemed to be how it always went between those two. At that cue, Papyrus slowly shrank away from the banter, focusing his attention on a complex rubix cube he had been trying to solve.

He didn’t dare ruin their fun, though. Truth be told, Papyrus not only had a soft spot for Sans’ humor, but also for Toriel being in their lives. Since they had reached the surface a few months ago, they had been visiting more frequently, and, every time they did, Sans lit up in a way that Papyrus couldn’t describe. His laughs were more frequent, his smiles made his eyes crease, and he, for the most part, was always able to stay awake for the duration of their visits. Honestly, Papyrus loved hearing the two laugh, especially his brother. That’s why he remained silent, even at points where it became dreadfully exasperating.

“Oh, Sans, do tell another, please!” Toriel begged, wiping a tear from her eye. Sans had to catch his breath before stringing on more, drawing even more laughter from her. Papyrus even had to bite back giggles on a particular few that involved puzzles. It wasn’t until a particularly horrible pun that the ‘fight or flight’ response in him was triggered. He groaned loudly, face in his hands, and that seemed to cause the two to just laugh harder. “OH MY GOD!” Papyrus shouted, muffled by his gloves. He sat up to look at the two. “YOU TWO ARE RIDICULOUS.” That got a chuckle out of Toriel. “No, no, Papyrus,” she began. “We settled that in the underground, remember?” “yeah, bro,” Sans continued, reading her cue with a smirk. “we’re boneheads.” Papyrus only rolled his eyes and unresponsively returned to his rubix cube.

Toriel had noticed Papyrus’ lack of interest, and almost felt a little conflicted by it. It was safe to say that Sans didn’t mind, this was frequent behavior for and to him, but the motherly side of the goat encouraged her to be a little lighthearted and playful, especially because she wanted to see his playful side come out and get to know him better. Even Papyrus should have a pun time! As Sans continued his mock routine, Toriel moved herself a little closer to Papyrus, until she was at his side. He had been fiddling with his rubix cube so intensely that he hadn’t noticed. She continued to giggle at Sans, who was still unexpecting as well, but, at another specifically awful pun, she lurched backwards with laughter, grabbing the skeleton beside her and taking him back with her. “YIII-” He screeched, feeling himself be lifted up and pressed to her chest.

“Goodness, that was funny, was it not, Papyrus?” She giggled sincerely, but he was too confused to respond. Sans now noticed his brother’s new position, but didn’t bat an eye, chuckling at his strange noise.” “yknow, pap, i’d yelp ya out, but you seem tah be takin’ control of the screech-uation.” Papyrus went to respond, inhaling and lifting a finger in protest, but immediately felt large, clawed paws vibrating against his ribcage. The response was immediate. The poor thing launched backwards, head tilted back with a squeal that dissolved into goofy, bubbly giggles. Toriel laughed with him, playing it off like she was laughing at Sans’ remark. “My, my, Sans,” Tori giggled. “It seems that you now have quite the dedicated audience!”

“N-NO, NO!” Papyrus squirmed in her grasp, but was truly secured by the taller figure. “NO, TICKLING ISN’T FAIR!” He exclaimed all this through giggles (as well as a few embarrassing snorts.) On any other occasion, he would have done his best to hold back his laughter, but the surprise had certainly put him at a disadvantage. He tried his best to shakily curl up into a ball, but found it impossible, as Toriel held his midriff as she tickled. He couldn’t press his knees to his chest if he tried.

Speaking of, now the monstress hugged her victim with one arm, squeezing his hips and knees with the other. Papyrus couldn’t reach his lower half due to the fact that he couldn’t lean down, so he settled for covering his mouth and face through squirms and shrieks. Sans had begun to catch on now, and couldn’t be more amused. “awh, bro, has she goat you good?” Papyrus tried to shout at him, but instantly felt his laughter double when gentle fingers scritched at his underarms. All he could get out was a comedic: “SA-AAAAHAHAHEEHEEHEE!” Instantly, Papyrus’s arms clamped down, revealing his pink, bug-eyed, and rather hysterical looking face. Toriel couldn’t help but laugh at both Sans’ pun and Papyrus’ cute laughter. Sans snorted. “yea, bro? ya don’t have to shout, everybone-y’s right here.” Toriel guffawed again, holding Papyrus close and nuzzling her cheek up against his. She didn’t even expect him to be especially ticklish there, but, sure enough, he let out a loud snort before once again attempting to wriggle away.

As much as Papyrus would protest this, Toriel was not at all being harsh or malicious with him. As a matter of fact, she seldom showed any mischief in her gesture. Though he was held securely, Papyrus was not at all strangled or crushed, and Toriel’s tickling remained gentle, though quick and articulate. He wasn’t hurt or overstimulated, and, though he would never admit it, he was somewhat enjoying the game, as well as the extra attention. Just the same, Toriel was enjoying herself, too. She hadn’t gotten to be a ‘tickle monster’ since….well. Regardless, she absolutely loved having an excuse to be so tickly again. She hadn’t realized Papyrus was the perfect target for this sort of behavior. When her paws batted at the curvature of his spine over his shirt, Papyrus made a new, loud, excitable noise. His hysterical laughter was replaced with high pitched shrieks and squeals. Her eyes lit up and became even a little glassy. Papyrus’ giggles were almost downright boyish. He truly was reminding her of someone else in this state, and it caused her to become even more affectionate. With an overwhelming sense of love, Toriel took Papyrus backwards in her arms again, shooting her fluffy hands up his shirt to scratch at his spine and scribble under his arms and inside his ribs. She began to nuzzle into his neck as she did so. Papyrus’ back arched with a harsh shriek as he kicked his feet out in response, wheezing and squealing to his heart’s delight. Toriel noted that he no longer seemed to squirm with a gentle smile.

“jeez, bro, this is no laughing matter. at this rate, you’ll break the windows.” “YOHOU-YOHOHOU’RE NOT FUNNYEEHEE! NYAHAHEEE!” Was all that Papyrus could say before he threw himself into another fit of infectious giggles. Sans beamed. “you sure, dude? judging by all those giggles ‘n whatever, i’m inclined to say you’re findin’ this pretty humerus.” Reluctantly, Papyrus laughed hard and long in response. “see? you got it, bro, good job.” “SAAHAANS! HEEHEHEELP!” The trapped skeleton wailed, to which Toriel giggled. “How rude, Papyrus, wanting to leave during Sans’ terrific comedy routine!” She scritched at his neck with her claws, watching him squeeze his eyes shut and dissolve into snickers. “Don’t leave so soon, or else he’ll get bonely!” Sans winked at her as Toriel drilled her thumb into the taller skeleton’s hip, evoking a loud gasp. “yeah, pap, it ain’t funny bein’ without my bone-ified bro.” Papyrus’ shaky giggles filled the room once more, though he groaned through them. Toriel mock-gasped, taking this as an excuse to go full on with her game, especially when she realized Papyrus was trying to grab onto the couch and pull himself out of her grasp. “Groaning at your brother’s very kind and loving compliment? I suppose this is worthy of my special attack, Papyrus!”

“NO-NOHO- LADY TORIEHEL- WAHAHAIT- NYEEHEEHEHAHA!” But it was too late. Toriel leaned down and blew a loud raspberry on the side of his spine, taking him down with tickles. By this point, poor Papyrus had begun to hiccup between his giggles, face dusted red with embarrassment. Sans chuckled, but knew his brother better than anyone. “hey, tori, let’s give him a break, ’kay? we wanna leave ‘em laughing, not kill him with laughter.” With that, Toriel giggled awkwardly and let the poor, giggling, snickering skeleton up. After a few moments of dazed giggles and hiccups, Papyrus cleared his throat and sat up, a little dizzy and embarrassed. “W-WELL, MISS TORIEL, YOU MAY HAVE WON THIS TIME, BUT I ASSURE YOU, IF IT WERE NOT FOR MY FATIGUE, THE GREAT PAPYRUS WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN SO EASILY TROUNCED.” Toriel giggled, rubbing his back to help him recover. “I do apologize, Papyrus, but your real, genuine laugh is much too cute to resist!” This caused Papyrus to blush a little, giggling. “NYEHEH! W-WELL, AT LEAST THROUGH ALL OF THIS, WE ALL RECOGNIZE THAT SANS’ PUNS WERE NOT THE CAUSE FOR MY LAUGHTER, BUT RATHER LADY TORIEL’S RATHER CONCERNING TICKLING SKILLS.”

That got a glare out of Sans that just screamed sibling rivalry. “ya really think so? hey, tor, lemme try somethin’ real quick.” Toriel read the room, holding onto Papyrus once more before he could comprehend squirming away. Sans got up out of the arm chair, slowly creeping towards the captive skeleton with wiggly fingers. “hey, papyrussssss,” That was all it took, apparently. Papyrus immediately squealed, thrashing vigorously. It was the ‘big brother’ role coming into play. No matter how big Papyrus got, he would always fear his brother’s tickles. “SANS, S-STAY BACK, GET AWAYHEHE, SHOO!” But Sans continued forward, finally coming face to face with his trapped brother. Papyrus curled his toes under his socks and let out a shriek. “pap.” Sans couldn’t help but laugh. “‘m not even touching you… yet.”

Knowing he had already endured a lot, Sans skittered his fingers under Papyrus’ chin, as if he were a certain dog they all knew. Papyrus immediately squealed, squirming and giggling softly, making his loved ones smirk. When Papyrus let forth a harsh squeal followed by a loud snort, Sans pulled away, he and Toriel laughing at Papyrus’ cuteness as Sans sat down on the couch beside them.

Papyrus groaned. “WHY ARE YOU TWO LAUGHING? YOU HAVE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO LAUGH ABOUT!” Both settled down, Toriel letting him get off her lap again and settle properly, Sans looking up at him with his signature wink and shrug. “dunno, bro. it’s probably ‘cause you’ve got, like, the goofiest laugh on the entire surface. it cheers everyone up.” “HEY,” His brother snapped back. “... THAT’S TRUE.” His friends chuckled as he pulled them both close, almost in a sort of two-way-snuggle. They snuggled back. He sighed with a playfully frustrated smile and a tired chuckle. “NYEHEH…I SUPPOSE, IF YOU TWO ARE BONEHEADS, AND MY LAUGH IS THE GOOFIEST ON THE SURFACE, THAT MAKES ME A GOOFBALL, DOESN’T IT?” Sans beamed. “the goofiest goofball I know.” “Yes,” Toriel chuckled. “The one us boneheads love the most.” Toriel and Sans once began, albeit a little more sleepily this time, giggled.

This time, Papyrus giggled with them.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY UNDERTALE!!!

I made the first three drawings last year but never finished the set so I didn't post them jhfbeh

Decided to finish em up for this year!!! I wanted to do like an epilogue type thing, drawing everyone still hanging out a few years in the future :3

I imagine Frisk likes to help Asgore take care of his garden.

I also think they're pretty close with Toriel still!!

Papyrus likes sharing funny things he finds on the internet with them, I imagine he would try to be a YouTuber so he probably also shows them his videos XD

Sans is once again short in comparison to them, I think they'd use him as an armrest frequently JHBSDGHV I also thought it'd be cute if maybe one of Snowdin's residents or Grillby's patrons wrote a book with all of Sans' jokes in it hehehe

I like to think that they have anime marathons with Alphys fairly regularly. They strike me as someone who would grow up to be a huge animation nerd (what no I'm not self projecting at all shut up).

I also think that Undyne would wind up as a personal trainer because. COME ON people. It would work so WELL for her!!!

I love this game to pieces, it's crazy to think about how much of an impact it's made on my life. I'm glad I finally got aound to finishing these, I was super happy with this idea n I'm pretty stoked th how it came out!!! Found Family my BELOVED <3<3<3
