what drawing tablet do you use/recommend?
I've been a wacom girlie ever since i started drawing!! currently i use a cintiq 16 but up until 2021 i was using an intuos! i love my cintiq and would NEVER go back but if you're looking for a cheaper alternative and don't think you need a screen the intuos is a really good option, my first one lasted me almost 6 years and it's also really portable so i still use my old one sometimes if I have to work outside my studio! the reason i use specifically the cintiq is because i think it emulates drawing on paper the most out of all the screen tablets ive tested. I'm actually sort of a traditional art supremacist in that I want my digital experience to be as similar to my traditional one as possible, and the cintiq's screen and pen are the most similar to a traditional drawing experience imo.

I said it over on twitter but it bears repeating over here.
Louis is light-skinned, him being black doesn't mean he automatically has the darkest skin tone in the room, and it's noticeable and odd when you choose to draw him darker than Armand. I understand the want to make sure you aren't whitewashing but we've gone too far in the other direction and it's still not great. You do need to still put in the effort to not just slapping any skin tone on a person. This happens with Claudia a ton too, especially with season 1 Claudia.
Black people are not a monolith. We aren't a vague collection of swappable features to pick and choose at random, and its starting to feel like artists don't care to actually draw how black characters look as long as they are recognizable as a generalized black person. Making non-black characters notably lighter and smaller in stature compared to a black character has roots in a bunch of racist shit, and it feels especially egregious in Louis' case. Ofc as an artist you're going to emphasize and stylize one way or another, but you also need to recognize that you aren't creating in a vacuum, and how you depict people is reflective of how many of us are seen.

even if the protestors aren't being antisemitic (they are) what the fuck kind of self-respecting "activist" says with their whole chest "people accusing you of racism and bigotry aren't being serious so you don't have to listen to them". again the double-standards applied to antisemitism cause people to abandon every one of their supposedly deeply-held beliefs

We really underestimate the power of fan-artists, Hamilton would've probably never been as widespread had it not been for the animatics I wouldn't even have given it a chance had it not been for the cool animations. You think jeff the killer was gonna survive because of the story or that one picture? The tweens that made him an anime boy put in all the work for that to happen. Im writing this after deciding to watch an hour long musical because of a really good piece of fanart, seeing people pour such big amounts of passion into a drawing of a character that doesn't even belong to them is fascinating and a little heartwarming too. It makes me curious, "just what about this thing is so good? I better check it out.". This can go the opposite way too, people will see "unsavoury " art of characters and be like blegh..nope for example Undertale and recently TADC. Fan-artists hold the power to make or break the reputation of a piece of media.
