PROPOSALS - 95ers
how the 95 liners would propose (fem!reader)
warnings: brief mention of past sex, use of y/n (once), mainly female centric compliments, but can be read with gender neutral reader in mind.
a/n: first attempt at writing fluff,,, why is it so much harder to write than smut ??
seungcheol:
traditional man. takes you to an expensive restaurant, and buys you the best wine you've ever tasted. your friends and family are scattered secretly around the nearby tables, ready to witness / capture the beautiful moment.
today was a very special day. yours and seungcheol's five year anniversary. the fact you had been with him for only five years shocks you, as you can't remember your life before him.
he had been able to get a week off from his crazy schedule, which resulted in the two of you hoping on a plane to head to Paris.
tonight, the night of your anniversary, cheol had purchased a particular dress for you to wear, one that compliments his outfit will, and took you to one of the top rated restaurants near your hotel.
the night started out as it usually would, nothing out of the ordinary. you hadn't gotten tipsy, but the wine had given you a fuzzy feeling in your head, making you much more giggly, to your lovers pleasure.
around about an hour had passed, the two of you now sharing a slice of chocolate cake. seungcheol was staring at you the way he always does, eyes full of nothing but love and admiration. the had been a break in the conversation, cheol and you simply bathing in each others presence.
you take a quick glance around the room, until a noise draws your attention back to your soulmate.
he was now standing, spoon and glass in hand, smirking at you.
"sorry to interrupt everyones lovely dinner, but i have a very special announcement to make." he placed the items down, before turning to address the other patrons.
"today is me and my gorgeous girlfriends five year anniversary !"
the room had erupted into applause.
"but thats not the announcement i wanted to make."
he turns back to you, chuckling slightly at your confused face. god, could you get any cuter ?
"y/n. my darling. my love. five years have passed since i've been able to call you mine. five years of my life spent holding you in my arms. i never want that to end."
he drops on one knee, chuckling at the gasp you let out. he pulls the ring out, and as he does, the first tear rolls down your cheek.
"will you do me the honor, and spent the rest of your life in my arms ?" he is peering up at you, a look of confidence that you know he is using to mask his nerves.
you immediately hop to the ground with him, nodding silently while you sob. the flash of cameras all around you, as well as many cheers of congradulations.
as the two of you stand, you see you are surrounded by your closest loved ones. what a perfect way to end a perfect night.
jeonghan:
private beach at sunset. proposes in a gazebo while you look over at the sea. no doubt in my mind he writes "marry me" in the sand. chuckles at your tears even though he definitely is ugly crying too. has a picnic prepared afterwards.
one thing about you and jeonghan's relationship; you were homebodies. the two of you rarely felt the need to go out and about to feel a connection, majority of the time choosing to stay huddle up and nap together.
today, however, was one of those rare dares where hannie would drag you out of bed for a date. although you tried your hardest to convince him to just do what you usually do for dates (read: sleep.), here you were, in a flowery sundress, walking towards yours and jeonghan's "secret" spot.
the spot in question was a little opening on the beach, far away enough for what most people consider to be a walk. the two of you had found it early on in your relationship, and tested it's level of privacy with some good ol' sex.
you could tell something was off with him today. he seemed... cautious ? hannie ? cautious ? yeah right. he was extra fidgety, and kept checking his appearance before your trek. he was rushing to leave the house too.
turning the corner to find the place the two of you were very familiar with, there was so many unfamiliar things catching your eye. fairy lights had been scattered around, dangling down from the roof of the gazebo. candles had been placed neatly around the edges. a picnic blanket had been laid down on the floor, with a bouquet of flowers resting atop it.
you turned around, ready to ask jeonghan what was going on, when you spotted him on one knee, a nervous smile on his lips as he gazed up at you. you gasped, knees buckling, and jeonghan instinctively held his hand out to ground you.
he giggled at your shocked face. "hey love"
"han i swear to god-" your words were cut off by a sob, your breath hitching.
"'ts okay love. don't cry." his hand holding yours began to rub back and forth on the back of your palm.
"knowing you, being with you, loving you. it has been a dream come true for me. i never thought i would be able to experience the love people craved. i was okay with that thought. until i met you. i want to be with you for the rest of my days... i want to grow old with you. will you let me ?"
without saying anything, you jumped into his arms, sobbing into his shoulder while nodding. you could feel his own tears beginning to hit your skin. you pulled back, looking into his eyes, full of nothing but love and admiration. you were sure yours were conveying the same emotion.
your lips met in a passionate kiss, one the two of you would deem to be the best one you had shared, until your wedding day.
joshua:
balcony while on vacation. planned on asking you during dinner but chickened out. you were slow dancing while it rained, before his love for you overtook his brain, making him spontaneously propose then and there.
the night had been perfect. you see yourself thinking that thought every day that you spend in joshua's arms. but it's true. he brightens up every day of your life.
you had been worried at first. he seemed as though he had something on your mind during dinner. you were petrified you had done something to upset you, but he had assured you it had just been a long week. after his reassurance, the rest of the meal passed as usual, him returning to his charming self.
now, the two of you were found on the balcony of your hotel suite. despite the freezing temperatures the rain had caused, neither of you could find it in yourself to care. you were holding onto each other tightly, your head buried in josh's chest, as his chin rests atop your head. even though there was no music to be heard, the two of you continued your gentle swaying, the rhythm of the rain being the tempo you moved to. the silence was calming.
you felt his chin move from your head, before he pushed you back slightly, just enough to look down into your eyes. his eyes were sparkling, glistening, as per usual, but you soon noticed something else swimming in them. he had tears resting on his lash line, ready to fall at any moment.
concerned you reached up to cradle his face, asking what had bothered him.
"i just love you so much. more than you could ever imagine."
you open your mouth to return the sentiment, but his movement stops you. he pulls something out from his pants pocket, before dropping to one knee. he attempts to say the words he had practiced many times before, but the tightness of his throat stops him.
"i- i love you, y/n, so so much. will... will you marry-"
before he can finish his sentence, your lips crash onto his, the two of you silently sobbing into each others mouths. he breaks off the kiss with a chuckle.
"is that a yes ?" god, his smile could blind you.
"yes, you idiot" yet there was no malice found in your words. his hand comes up to you cheek, to steer you into another passion-filled kiss.

I literally do not understand folks rejection of masking.... I fr don't get it. My black mask finishes and pulls my fit together, I get to remain anonymous and mysterious, I'm less likely to get sick or get others sick, I feel like a MC in a post apocalyptic film in the best way and I get to keep my face hidden from those unworthy of witnessing my beauty. oh and pollution? Wildfire smoke hit the forests of Michigan this summer. So many benefits.
Idk I spent the first 3 months of the panny wearing a literal handkerchief/scarf I appreciate my medical masks. Just purchased my first n-95 which will definitely come in handy.

Wishing you well always! Out of curiosity, how do you think you'd fair wearing our modern n-95 face mask layered with a surgical mask ontop? It is our defense against this current decade's plague. I warn you, it is not terribly comfy nor fragrant. (Don't even get me started on the ill fitting plastic goggles.) I'm curious to hear your thoughts on how you think it would compare to the classic bird beak mask (if it's any consolation, it gets hot and sweaty as well, tho it does not command quite the same aesthetic presence as the PPE of your time.)
Ps. Ive started my anatomy/physiology studies. Still waiting to hear back from a mathematics mentor, so fingers crossed. Good luck to your ambitions as well at this time
Aspiring aide
Well, I suppose as you all are so far in the future, I will have to have a bit of faith in the advancement of science and assume your masks are more than sufficient...HOWEVER....i do think something is lost by failing to make your plague doctors easily identifiable from a distance!! As far as I am aware, everyone among you can wear the same masks! Is that not confusing??? I wish you the best of luck in your studies!!

The Patient- A Kristanna Paramedic Oneshot
Universe: Modern AU/ Paramedic AU
Rating: T (13+)
Length: 2267 Words
Summary: Anna has to call 911 after a small fire breaks out in her condo. The hot blonde paramedic is the best and worst part of her day.
A/N: Day 10 of the 2022 Advent Calendar. I’ve managed to get behind again, of course, and I had to write this prone on my bedroom floor because I’ve fucked my back up, but you know what, I’m going to keep going anyway. Please ignore any factual errors about paramedics and medicine here, I did a little research, but otherwise I just wanted these two idiots to smooch under a new circumstance.
Today was, decidedly, not Anna’s day.
She sat, mortified, in the back of the ambulance with the most attractive man she’d ever met in her life, mutely checking her over for injuries.
“Really, I’m alright,” she said, then coughed, “I didn’t get burnt or anything when I was turning off the oven and using the fire extinguisher, I just couldn’t let the smoke out of my kitchen because the window was painted shut.”
She coughed again, not exactly proving her point that she was, in fact, fine. This was what she got for paying someone to renovate her condo without triple checking all their references and their work. Her detail obsessed sister would be so disappointed in her.
“Smoke inhalation is a very serious problem Ms. Arendelle.”
He was so serious in both tone and expression when he turned to his colleague to ask them to grab a mask and an oxygen canister.
She felt her face grow hot, and it had nothing to do with the fact that she maybe had inhaled a little too much smoke when her oven decided to catch fire for no good reason, other than perhaps spite. She’d just bought it and had it installed, and she wasn’t wholly convinced that the ghost of her last oven wasn’t possessing the new one because she’d only been preheating the empty appliance when the fire started inside it.
“Really, I’m fine.”
He was having none of it. He gave her a very unimpressed look, which both frustrated her and contributed to her blush. He was very attractive, but he also was clearly a hard-ass with lacking bedside manner.
She glanced at the name tag attached to his shirt and read “K. Bjorgman”.
K? Kyle? Kameron? Karson?
No, none of those seemed quite right for Mr. Hard-ass.
“Here’s that tank Kristoff.”
Kristoff? What the hell kind of name was that? Must be short for Kristoffer.
“Are you refusing treatment?”
She looked from his nametag back to his face. He looked infuriatingly displeased and she thought about saying that she was just to bug him, but that probably wasn’t ideal for her health given that the other paramedic hadn’t argued with him about the need for oxygen.
“No, I just think this is a little overkill probably, it was just a small kitchen fire.”
“With no ventilation where your oven was burning… what exactly?”
“Itself,” she answered miserably, “Because of course it would.”
“Right, so potentially plastic, chemical surfactants and whatever else should or shouldn’t have been in there at the point of ignition.”
She threw her hands up, “Yeah, sure. Whatever you say Mr. expert.”
He seemed to smile, just a small quirk in the corner of his mouth, but it was something. She wasn’t sure whether he was just used to getting what he wanted and was happy because his gruff attitude and good looks combo was working out for him once again, or whether he actually found her funny.
She was mad that it made him somehow even more attractive and that it made her want to continue to comply.

A Convenient Arrangement Part 12
Universe: Canonverse Arranged Marriage AU Rating:T Length: 3530 Words A/N: Thank you to the friends that lovingly remind me to write sometimes. Next chapter will be the engagement party, I promise!
[Part 1] [Part 2] [Part 3] [Part 4] [Part 5] [Part 6] [Part 7] [Part 8] [Part 9] [Part10] [Part 11]
The festival preparations were back in full swing in no time. Kristoff saw Anna every night now, they shared his bed every evening and woke whenever one or both of them were summoned by morning knocks against his door. Getting to bed together was an immense effort on both of their parts, but it was something that he knew they both treasured after long days with barely a glance at each other.
Given it was a festival in celebration of their marriage, he couldn’t help but feel that they really should have been allowed more time together to prepare, but unfortunately neither of them made their own schedules.
Anna promised at night, between sleepy kisses, that it would get better after the event was over. She told him that once they started their regular duties they would be apart less, or at least their time apart would be more regularly scheduled which would allow them to meet more often throughout the day. He wasn’t certain that she wholly believed it herself, but despite this, the hope was enough to buoy them both through the days of preparation. The quick morning kisses and embraces did their fair share to serve as encouragement as well.
“Does it fit well my lord?”
Kristoff smiled at his reflection in the mirror. His normal tailor, Anders Nilsson, had been more than happy to take up a royal contract, and had profusely thanked both Kristoff and Kai throughout the entire process of his making Kristoff’s festival wear. He’d had to ask him to stop using the words “thank you” after a while, simply for the fact that the man couldn’t stop saying it. Kristoff knew how much the commission had meant to the man, he didn’t want him to feel the need to express it in the first place, let alone repeat it.
He’d outdone himself. The suit was mostly black with green, purple, and golden details that marked him as a member of the royal family and were enough to make the garments stand out in a crowd. They weren’t so overembellished that they felt ostentatious but were rather inspired by his own plainer sensibilities.
Most blessedly it fit, and he could imagine himself wearing it without passing out.
“Yes,” he breathed with great appreciation toward the tailor, “Thank you so much Anders. I know it couldn’t have been easy for you to put this together so quickly.”
“You’d be surprised Kri… my lord.”
He settled into a deep bow and Kristoff could have snorted with how unnatural it looked given the man never had cause to bow before in his life until Kristoff had married Anna. There was no point to bow to harvesters and merchants who were just as common as you.
“Anders, please, just call me Kristoff.”
Kai smiled in the mirror behind him. He’d been encouraging him for weeks to insist upon others referring to him by his title, but evidently his valet found no issues with a man being informal with his own tailor.
“Kristoff,” the tailor said and visibly relaxed before continuing, “It didn’t take too terribly long. My wife likes to do the embroidery and she’s so far along now that she was practically begging me to give her something to do in her chair. She balanced the whole project on her belly as she worked. She insists, though I hope it’s not too forward, that I give her appreciation to your valet for sending her the exact patterns the Princess’s dressmaker was using for her gown’s embroidery.”
He thought for a moment about Ander’s wife. When he’d last seen her, she’d barely been showing. By now she must certainly be as round with child as the tailor described. He was pleased that despite the effort they must have expended working on his clothes, that he was able to send some money their way for that soon to arrive child. He nearly lost himself in a passing thought about how Anna might look with her hands pressed lovingly to her rounded abdomen, the ring he still needed to give her on her finger.
He forced himself out of the daydream. He’d told Anna that they never needed to have children together, that they never even needed to be intimate, and here he was dreaming of her carrying his child, instead of paying attention to the words that had just been said to him.
Patterns? For her gown’s embroidery?
Kristoff turned back to Kai then, who was smiling as broad as Kristoff ever saw him. “Anna and I are going to match?”
He wasn’t certain as to why it made his heart leap in the way it did, to imagine himself and Anna dressed as a pair. Everyone knew of their marriage, there was no doubting that, and yet a visual cue to their bond thrilled him in a way he’d never imagined clothes pleasing him. So many things that had never mattered to him before, now mattered because of Anna.
Kai nodded, his grin schooling itself somewhat into a more neutral expression.
“At the behest of the Queen, and the Princess’s as well, of course. She wanted no question of who her husband was. I have a feeling the regalia will leave no room for that question, but primarily I think the pair of them were hoping for a united front in every possible detail. Which brings me to our need to take our leave from this room, I’m afraid we’re overdue for our next appointment of the day my lord.”
Kristoff couldn’t help but to sigh, shaken from his momentary quiet revelry. He’d been rushed along every day for well over a week now, any of the relaxation of his and Anna’s “day off” was a distant memory now.
“Fine then, I’ll get changed.”
He looked down at the comfortably fitted suit and felt, strangely, like he didn’t want to take it off.
“Thank you, Anders, it’s fantastic. Please thank your wife for me and know that there will be more requests coming your way very soon. There will be no need for a rush of course, if I don’t see you again before your babe is born, my best wishes to you both for a happy and healthy child.”
Kristoff watched the man open and close his mouth, undoubtedly stifling a “thank you” Kristoff didn’t really want to hear in return.
There are some perks to a royal title certainly.

A Convenient Arrangement Part 11
Universe: Canonverse Arranged Marriage AU Rating:T Length: 3840 Words A/N: Finally finished this speed-bump of a chapter. Hopefully now that it’s written it won’t take me nine months to do the next bit.
[Part 1] [Part 2] [Part 3] [Part 4] [Part 5] [Part 6] [Part 7] [Part 8] [Part 9] [Part10]
The last thing Anna wanted was to let him leave the castle. Frankly, she wanted to lock him in the room and keep kissing him until they were called away to their duties, or until they fell asleep, whichever happened first.
Probably sleep.
She was exhausted. She’d been tired all week, and while their day’s reprieve had been a comfort, she still felt a deep fatigue that seemed to settle in her very bones. He was tired too. She saw it in his eyes when he broke their kiss. If she would have led him to the bed, wrapped them in blankets and promised that they could stay like that for the rest of the evening, he would have wanted to stay.
I should have convinced him.
Instead, she’d encouraged him to go see his family. She knew that it was the right thing to do, that he wouldn’t have wanted to leave her unless it was important. She didn’t want to interfere with his traditions and when he didn’t invite her along, she knew that it must be for a reason.
She didn’t have the time to ask him all the things she wanted to, and she knew that she wouldn’t be able to see him off at the gates without running after him, so she’d watched him from a window instead. She’d stood and quieted every voice in her head that told her he wasn’t coming back. She’d watched dutifully, keeping her feet still and her hands braced on the windowpane as he and Sven rode off until she could no longer see either of them.
She’d only allowed herself to move when she knew that it would be impossible to follow them, when the sky started to darken, and she was certain that she would only get lost if she tried to tail them up the mountain. Even then, knowing all she did about exactly how it would go, it took all her energy not to follow.
Her lips still felt the ghost of his upon them. She wished that she would have stolen a goodbye kiss, a goodnight kiss, or a just because kiss because she knew that she’d be missing the feel of it until he returned.
Instead of marching to the front doors, her feet carried her on autopilot to her sister’s office door.
She knew that Elsa would be in her office. There was nowhere else she would be on an evening without courtly duties. Someone who was not in the know might imagine that she would be in her bedroom, or relaxing in the library, but Anna knew that her sister would be pouring over paperwork.
It was difficult for Anna to knock on her sister’s office door. Physically speaking it was, of course, quite simple, but making her knuckles rap against the door and having to trust that her sister would answer was still difficult. She had forgiven Elsa for the years of isolation they’d both faced, but she hadn’t forgotten. She was certain that she and Elsa could grow close and communicate daily for the rest of their lives and Anna still wouldn’t ever forget what it felt like to knock on her sister’s door and have it go unanswered.
It had felt like she was mourning the death of someone who was still very much alive.
“Come in.”
Anna didn’t need to be told twice. She could feel the muscles she’d not realized she was tensing relax in her arms and legs. The anxiety in her stomach quelled.
Pushing the door open and then closed again behind her, Anna found Elsa very much as she had expected her. Her pale face framed by mussed blond tresses that were, themselves, almost as white as the piles of paper around her on the desk.
“Oh! Anna, I wasn’t expecting you. I thought you were spending the day with Kristoff?”
Anna wasn’t sure what made her happier, the way her arrival seemed to be a splendid surprise to her sister, or the way that Elsa so pleasantly mentioned Kristoff by name. It surprised her how quickly Elsa had gone from thinking her husband was some brute, to calling him by name and occasionally indulging in his company for brief moments.
Anna wondered if with a little more time, they might begin doing things as a family. She did think that Kristoff and Elsa could be friends with time, so she was pleased that they were something like acquaintances now. Anything was better than strangers, particularly now that Anna knew that her feelings for her husband weren’t only reciprocated but that they were fated.
“I was. He’s had to head up to the mountains to speak with his family.”
“The trolls?”
“Yes, the trolls,” Anna quickly replied.
“Ah, is there something going on?”
“Well yes, but it will take some explaining.”
Elsa nodded, seeming entirely too pleased to shift the pile of papers she’d been working on off to the side of her desk. Anna knew that Elsa had been making efforts to get closer to her, to get to know her better, and as infrequent as their moments alone were, Anna couldn’t help but to feel surprised that she was so ready to set her work aside.
She smile was somewhat sheepish when she returned her full attention to Anna.
“I should have taken a break hours ago anyway.”

The best way to fight coronavirus is to wear a mask
How Many Mask Types Are There?
Tumblr media
Wearing A Mask Shows One’s Public Responsibility (source livewellswacademy.co.uk)
There are many different mask types in the market, and the top important job is to find out which one can give out the best harmony between comfort and effectiveness.
There are three main types of masks due to popular preference: The N-95, the medical face mask (surgical mask), and the cloth mask. However, The N-95 is for medical professionals, and only the latter two are common in daily life use.
The medical mask is the cheapest, easiest-to-find, and the most popular one among those types. How does the surgical mask work? In short, it is a loose-fitting and disposable device, which covers the nose and mouth to block potential contaminants in the environment. According to their surgical purpose, these masks are guaranteed sterile before wearing.
There are three layers inside a medical mask: one that covers the mouth, a layer in the middle to hinder contaminants, another layer to “catch” the flying microorganism from the environment. Such design makes surgical masks work well in preventing viruses and other potentially harmful factors.
Differentiate from the medical mask; cloth masks are mostly home-made with two layers. It doesn’t have the middle coat due to the cutting-edge technology. However, cloth masks are still useful in preventing viruses due to their thickness and durability.
Finally, the N-95 is the most unpopular mask as only medical experts mainly use it. N-95 is the most complicatedly designed type specialized in filtering toxic contaminants with the highest qualified purified system to block the virus.
Which Mask Type Should People Wear?
After answering the question of “What do Coronavirus variants mean for your masks?”, let’s move to the issue of which type of mask everybody should wear. According to scientists, both medical and cloth masks are excellent choices. Both share the same function: prevent viruses from attacking the body and cause the COVID-19.
However, in terms of pricing and environment-friendliness, a cloth mask is better. While the surgical mask is indispensable, it’s possible to reuse the cloth mask by washing and drying. The cloth mask also has a more extended expiry date than medical ones either.

Season 2. Finally Season 2. Everyone had been hoping, wishing, praying for a season 2 of Julie and The Phantoms, and after months of waiting, Netflix finally picked it up for a second season. After those months, the actors had just to wait a little while longer while the crew wrote up the first drafts of scripts and made it perfectly save for the actors to do their work. Once all of that’s ready and they’re good to go, the cast finally reunite again in Vancouver. They even meet some new cast members. Like you. You had auditioned for the role of Daniela Ramos, Julie’s cousin and Victoria’s daughter, and got it pretty much straight away. Daniela is a fashion student at a High School in Melrose Hill and Julie asks her for some help with costumes for her next gig with her band. To Julie’s surprise, Daniela can actually see the boys, even when they’re not playing, which causes for a lot of trouble in the band and family, especially between Julie and Luke. This is your first big role on the small screen and you’re the most excited you’ve ever been. You met the other cast members at the summer bootcamp before the filming process would start, and though almost everything had to be done with a face mask covering half of everyone’s face, it still was a lot of fun getting to meet everyone and spend the most fun summer ever. Every day, you grew closer and closer to everyone on set, and soon became best friends with Madi, Jadah, Savannah and Tori, doing plenty of sleepovers. Besides the girls, you also grew closer to Charlie, Owen and Jeremy, but mostly Charlie. For some reason, the two of you just clicked instantly. You have the same humor, the same taste of adventure, the same passions and dreams. You, Charlie and Owen even rented a place together to live in for the time being in Vancouver. You got even closer during filming, especially since you and Charlie have a lot of scenes together. “Oh my God, Luke, you’re so annoying!” you yell at him when the two of you are in the garage, taping a scene. It had taken you about ten takes and you still couldn’t help but giggle at the shocked face he pulled every time. “If I’m so annoying, Dani, why do you keep coming back?!” The angry face he pulls resembles that of an angry kitten, which just makes you crack up again. “God dammit, Y/N!” Charlie laughs now too as Kenny yells “Cut!” “Sorry! Sorry, guys! I promise I’m a real actor!” You hold your hands up in defense, then cough to get ready for another take. This time around, you could finally manage to get through it without laughing. “Yes!” Charlie exclaims when Kenny yells “Cut!” again. He holds his hand up for a high five, which you giddily give him. “Do you need any more takes, Kenny?” he asks the man himself. “Nope, you’re good! You can go on your break now!” he pats Charlie’s shoulder. “Nice job, guys!” “Thanks, Kenny,” you say, the smile growing on your face. “I need food, Gillespie,” you tell your best friend, linking your arm with his. “Let’s go get food!” The two of you head down to catering and sit down at a table with a plate full of food. “What are we doing tonight?” he then asks before taking a bite of food. You swallow your bite of food and take a sip from your drink. “Don’t you have a night shoot tonight?” you ask, remembering him saying something about a late call. “No, that’s tomorrow, after our dance rehearsal,” he replies after swallowing the food. “Oh! Okay!” You start thinking of things to do, “We could go to karaoke? Bring the others maybe?” He raises his eyebrows, looking at you questionably. “I’ve always loved karaoke,” you shrug with a giggle. “Yeah, okay!” Charlie nods his head agreeingly. “Karaoke it is!” The two of you smile up at each other, teeth showing, both of you glowing. “What are you love birds discussing?” Owen asks when he joins them, his voice muffled from the mask covering his face. He pulls it down to under his chin as he and Jeremy join the two at the table. “We’re thinking about going to karaoke tonight with the whole team!” you tell them, completely ignoring the ‘love birds’. “Ooh, fun!” Owen exclaims with a smile that nearly reaches his ears. “Yeah, we’ll leave after shooting the last scene tonight,” Charlie suggests, looking at you for confirmation. You nod your head agreeingly. That night, you and the rest of the cast head to the nearest karaoke place you know. You’ve linked arms with Savannah and Tori, giggling through the night, trying to keep your balance on your heeled boots. Meanwhile, without you realizing, Charlie has been keeping his eyes on you the whole way there. He finds it adorable how your giggle floats through the night air and your hips bump against the other girls’. He couldn’t lie, you had easily become the light in his life. “So, what song shall we begin with?” you ask the gang as you settle into the booth. “Pick the first one on the list,” Jeremy replies when no one else does. You nod your head curtly and press play on the first song, which is Living on a Prayer by Bon Jovi. You can already tell after that first song; tonight is going to be a fun night. You sing a couple of songs with the girls, there are many group numbers, and you even sing one with your roommates. After singing with Owen and Charlie, the latter points at you. “We’re going to sing together now!” he exclaims excitedly before turning around and picking a song for you to sing. When he’s picked one, he grabs your hand to pull you closer towards him. You blink a couple of times, unable to process what’s happening right now. The opening notes to Don’t Go Breaking My Heart by Elton John and Kiki Dee chime through the booth. You glance over at Savannah and Tori, who offer you an encouraging smile. Then you look at Jadah and Madison, but they’re too busy giggling and whispering, and it makes you wonder if that’s about you and Charlie. Your eyes dart over to the boys – Jeremy, Owen and Sacha – who just offer you suggestive smiles and eyebrow-wiggles. Charlie’s voice captures your attention again, and you turn to him. “I couldn’t if I tried,” you sing back to him. The encouraging smile on Charlie’s face calms you down a little up to the point where it almost seems like the two of you are the only people in the room. You have no clue what is happening or why it’s happening. All you know is that you’ve wanted it to happen sooner. Though you wouldn’t ever admit that to anyone. It’s the way he looks at you and the way he makes you feel like you’re the only person on this planet that matters. It’s been the way he’d looked at you since that first day of meeting him. “I won't go breaking your heart,” you sing the very last line to him ever so softly, not even looking at the screen anymore, but instead, looking into his eyes. “Don't go breaking my heart,” he sings back. The song ends and you both lower your microphones, staring into each other’s eyes. If it wasn’t for the rest of the cast breaking out into cheers and applause, you would’ve kissed him then and there. But it startles you, and you step away from him upon realizing how close you are and how that must look to the others. “So, when’s the wedding?” Madison asks teasingly, which makes the others laugh, and you blush. After that night at karaoke, the two of you had silently agreed to forget anything ever happened. Savannah said you were in denial, but you believed you weren’t. You told her it was just the atmosphere in the air that night, the both of you had consumed a little bit of alcohol and it might’ve just been that. No one stopped teasing you though. On every possible occasion, they’d ask you if you’d kissed him yet, or when your next date it, or started singing Don’t Go Breaking My Heart randomly. You just shook it off every time, finding it amusing how consumed the cast was with this ‘relationship’ you had with Charlie. There was nothing more going on than just a really, really tight friendship. Until the dance scene happened. Your character, Dani, was supposed to go to a school dance with her crush, but she was nervous because she had never slow danced with anyone before. When she tells Luke, he insisted on teaching her, saying he’d gone to plenty of school dances back in ’94 and ’95 before he died. You and Charlie know this choreography by heart, you’ve been doing it for weeks on end at bootcamp and during rehearsals. It had always just been fun and games, the two of you being immaculate dancers and bouncing off of each other so well because of your tight friendship. “I could teach you?” Charlie says as Luke, stepping closer to you. You raise your eyebrows at him. “I’ve gone to numerous dances in my days, Dani…” One corner of his mouth curls up into a teasing smirk. “Unless you want to embarrass yourself in front of… Jake.” He emphasizes the name of your fictional crush, to which you react with wide eyes and a blush spreading on your cheeks. “Come on, Dani!” He reaches out for your hand, which you place hesitantly in his. Dani being able to see ghosts, is also able to make them corporeal. The lights on set dim a little, except for one spot on the pair in the middle of the studio, and then the music starts playing through the speakers. Charlie starts singing the song they’d learned at bootcamp, one the cast wrote together during the quarantine. The atmosphere in the studio has suddenly become really intense. You can feel the butterflies erupting in your stomach as the man in front of you sings to you, mere inches away from each other as he leads you in this beautiful dance Paul Becker and Tori Caro choreographed for you. Just like at the karaoke booth, it feels like the two of you are the only people on set. Just you and him. You and Charlie. You and your best friend. There’s no denying you have feeling for him anymore. You knew you did, you just told yourself it wasn’t a good idea and suppressed those feelings, pushing them down. It worked for a while. Until now. “Cut!” Kenny yells after your scene. You step away from Charlie, glancing down at the floor as you try your hardest to hide your flustered face. “That was perfect, guys! It really looks like the two of you were in love!” he claps his hands in excitement, then tells them to do it again. After four takes of the dance, Kenny tells you to go and take a break. Without saying another word to Charlie, you rush off set and towards your trailer where you sit down on a chair, trying to calm your breathing. Charlie might not like you the way you like him. Admitting to these feelings might just ruin everything the two of you have. With this in mind, you grab your phone and text Savannah, asking her to come over to your trailer. Maybe she could help you. “Are you okay?” she asks when she enters and finds you staring at the ceiling. “No…” you reply and take a deep breath, “I think I’m in love with my best friend?” “Oh, sweetie…” Savannah sighs, and pulls you up to take you in a hug, “I know…” You pull her away again to face her properly. “What do you mean ‘you know’?” “Everybody knows,” she starts, “The two of you have been inseparable since the day you met, and everyone can see the way you look at each other. Plus, your duet the other night was a little intense for it to be a platonic one.” She chuckles, and you can’t help but chuckle too. She then grabs her phone from her back pocket, opening Instagram. “You know fans have caught on too, right?” She shows you the comments on some of Charlie’s pictures on his account. One picture is of the two of you, napping in Julie’s bed on set, cuddled up. He even posted pictures from your hikes on your days off. All of them are bombarded with comments from fans saying, ‘I ship it!’ or ‘Y/S/N’. Sav then opens her dm’s which are flooded with fans asking if you and Charlie are dating yet, and how the two of them are so in love with each other. “Charlie isn’t in love with me?” you deny, not believing one bit about it. “He is, though…” This does not come from Savannah’s mouth. Your eyes widen when you recognize the voice, and peek behind Savannah to find your best friend standing at your open trailer door. “Sav, can you give us a minute?” he asks the younger girl. “More than a minute,” she chirps, offering you a wink before leaving the trailer. Charlie steps in completely and moves until he’s in front of you. He takes your hands in his, and chuckles at your overwhelmed and confused expression. “Are you okay?” he asks, that beautiful smile of his persistent on his face. “Y—yeah? No? I’m not sure?” you sigh, trying to get your thoughts in order. “Charlie, wha—?” “Can I talk? I’ve been going over this conversation in my mind a billion times, and if I don’t say it now, I think I’m going to forget what I’m supposed to say…” You nod your head in response. “Y/N, I’ve been in love with you since the very first time I saw you walking in at bootcamp. You looked adorable with your little nervous smile and your polite hellos to everybody. I knew from that moment on that I wanted to get to know you better, and that I wanted to become more than just friends…I didn’t think you’d feel the same way, so I told myself that it was okay if we’d just stay friends. Especially since your character kind of hates mine and you bring Dani to life so convincingly, that I was almost sure you hated me too,” you chuckle at that, “But I can’t hide it anymore, Y/N. I am so embarrassingly in love with you that I could’ve kissed you after that scene we just did and that I could kiss you right now even though I’m—” before he can finish his sentence, you lean up and crash your lips onto his, your hands flying into his hair. He’s a little startled at first, but quickly melts into the kiss and presses you closer to him. “I am so embarrassingly in love with you too, Charlie,” you whisper when you pull away, pressing your forehead against his. “They’re going to be so relieved,” you tell him with a chuckle. He frowns his eyebrows at you. “Who?” he asks. You take his hand in yours and lead him towards the door of your trailer, pushing it open and making it bump against whoever was closest to the door. All of your cast mates scramble, trying to act natural while Owen rubs his forehead since he was the one that got a door in his face. “Ah, them!” Charlie chuckles. “Thanks for the door in my face, guys,” Owen says disgruntled. “That’s on you, buddy,” you tell him with a grin. “Don’t you guys have a scene to shoot or something?” Their eyes widen at the realization and, after yelling at the two how happy they are for them, rush to set in a hurry. “So, where were we?” Charlie turns back to you when everyone’s gone. “Don’t you have a scene with them?” “Shit!” he grumbles and jumps off the small steps in front of the trailer. He starts running towards set but turns around almost immediately to you and kisses your lips quickly, but sweetly, and then runs off. You watch him with an amused smile on your face. There was nothing to be afraid about after all and nothing changed between you two. You were still the best of friends, just friends that kiss and are in love with each other. But both of you happy.

With Covid-19 cases and hospitalizations spiking around the country, dreams of a summer like those many us had in mind just a short time ago have faded.
The fully vaccinated have been told to resume wearing masks indoors. Companies and institutions are leveling vaccine mandates. And some municipalities are requiring people to show proof of vaccination to get into restaurants, bars, and gyms.
Confusion abounds about what is safe to do. (For the unvaccinated, there’s no confusion about what’s most important to do: Get immunized.)
To try to cut through the fog, STAT contacted three dozen epidemiologists, immunologists, and other infectious disease experts around the country to see how they are navigating the risk of Covid in these uncertain times. Twenty-eight responded.
STAT didn’t ask these experts to explain how they would advise others. Rather, we asked them to answer 10 questions — saying yes, no or only if masked — about their own willingness to engage in various activities, assuming they were vaccinated.
Their answers suggest that, with the highly transmissible Delta variant spreading, caution prevails. Those who know viruses best aren’t buying many movie tickets, and most aren’t eating indoors in restaurants.
But in other ways, responses diverged. And at least one expert suggested that geography really does matter when it comes to his own comfort level. Naor Bar-Zeev, a statistical epidemiologist at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, declined to respond to all but one of the questions, saying answers are highly dependent on the circumstances of a place.
“In a place where most people are unvaccinated, or otherwise at high risk, and where there is active transmission, I should act more conservatively and with greater caution, even though I am protected from disease,” he said. “In a place where most people are vaccinated, and there is low transmission, one can be more permissive.”
Let’s unpack their answers.
Of the questions, only one earned a unanimous response: “Would you send your unvaccinated child to school without a mask?”
“Lord, no,” Paul Offit, a pediatric infectious disease specialist at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, replied. “NO!!! As a parent and a pediatrician, that is a terrible idea,” wrote Andrew Pavia, chief of pediatric infectious diseases at the University of Utah.
None of 27 people who answered this question expressed a willingness to send an unvaccinated child to school without a mask. Carlos del Rio, a professor of epidemiology and global health at the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University, said he’d withdraw an unvaccinated child from a school if it didn’t have a mask mandate.
Children under the age of 12 cannot yet be vaccinated as none of the vaccines has been authorized for use in this age group.
The other school-related question — “Would you send your vaccinated teen to school without a mask?” — drew almost as fervent a response, with 24 of 26 saying no.
Ellen Foxman, an immunologist at Yale University, was one of the exceptions. “Yes, if the high school had a high vaccination rate/low Covid transmission rate and my family had no high-risk personal contacts,” she wrote. “If the school required all students and staff to be vaccinated, I would have no problem whatsoever with no masks.”
Pavia gave a nuanced answer for his support for masks for vaccinated teens. “If the vaccinated kids don’t mask, the unvaccinated are unlikely to mask and there is a risk of bullying. Masks for all is much more likely to work,” he wrote.
Michael Osterholm, director of the University of Minnesota’s Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy, said he not only wouldn’t allow a vaccinated teen to go to school without a mask, he’d demand the teen wear an N-95 respirator. Cloth face coverings aren’t enough to combat Delta, he insisted.
Shane Crotty, an immunologist at La Jolla Institute of Immunology, said he’d send teenagers to school with masks, but would be okay with them taking them off around friends outside of school or during an outdoor lunch break.
When the experts were asked whether they would eat indoors at a restaurant, responses were slightly more mixed. More than half of respondents said no, but six said they would, or would in off-peak hours, and three more said they would do it but would wear a mask when they weren’t eating.
Saad Omer, director of Yale’s Institute for Global Health, said he would eat indoors in a restaurant that required customers to show proof of vaccination. “I generally feel safe indoors in a restaurant as long as underlying community transmission is low and I’m eating with other vaccinated people,” wrote John Brownstein, an epidemiologist and chief innovation officer at Boston Children’s Hospital. “However, I always prioritize eating outside where possible.”
That approach no longer seems viable to Syra Madad, senior director for the special pathogens program in the NYC Health + Hospitals network. “More than 95% of Americans live in areas of high or substantial community transmission so it’s no longer a matter of ‘Yes, I’ll eat indoors if I’m in an area of low community transmission,’” she wrote.
It seems like we’re over DIY hair — or so the answers to the question of whether the experts would go to a hairdresser or a barber shop would suggest.
All but four respondents said they would go to a hair salon or barber at this point even if they didn’t know the vaccination status of other clients. And even one of the four more cautious respondents allowed that she might consider it. “No, but if we are all far apart and there are few people I might with a mask,” said Krutika Kuppalli, an infectious disease physician at the Medical University of South Carolina.
Most people who said yes did so with the caveat that they’d wear a mask. Jesse Goodman, a professor of medicine at Georgetown University, said he would go only if he and everyone else in the place was masked. Akiko Iwasaki, a Yale University immunologist, said she would try to reduce the frequency of visits. But Jeanne Marrazzo, director of the division of infectious diseases at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, was in favor of professional hair care in general.
“I know how careful my hairdresser has been,” Marrazzo wrote. “She also needs financial support; my hair also needs it.”
Would the experts go to the theater to see a film? Seventeen said no.
“Non-essential,” said Shweta Bansal, whose Georgetown University laboratory studies how social behavior affects infectious disease transmission.
Florian Krammer, an immunologist at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, in Manhattan, believes most people who are fully vaccinated are well protected at this point. He would go to see a movie wearing a mask.
Amesh Adalja, an infectious disease physician and a senior scholar at Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security, has a different view on Covid risks than some of the other people STAT polled. He (and others) believe Covid is going to become endemic — we’re going to have to learn to live with it. For fully vaccinated people, Adalja said, the risks even from contracting Covid are pretty low.
“That fact makes me comfortable as a fully vaccinated individual without underlying health problems to resume my pre-pandemic life because I am risk-tolerant and I know that if I am to get a breakthrough infection it is likely to be mild,” he said. Adalja said yes to all but two of STAT’s questions; he would not send an unvaccinated child to school without a mask and would not currently give a second dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
William Hanage, an epidemiologist in Harvard’s T.H. Chan School of Public Health, said he’d happily skip going to the movies, but his wife enjoys going. So he would go, wearing a mask.
There was almost an even split among the experts to the question of whether they would attend a large outdoor concert or sporting event, with a slight edge going to the “yes” side. Most of the 15 people said they’d do it if masked.
Robert Wachter, the chair of the University of California, San Francisco’s department of medicine, said he’d don a mask “if shouting people [were] at very close range.” Jason Salemi, an epidemiologist at the University of South Florida, said he “would not attend a large outdoor concert right now,” stressing the amount of Covid transmission in his state at the moment.
Move a mass gathering indoors and the answers shift. In response to the question of whether they would go to an indoor wedding or other religious service — one where they did not know the vaccination status of the other attendees — more of the experts said no.
Saskia Popescu, an infectious disease specialist and assistant professor in George Mason University’s biodefense program, for instance, would go to an outdoor concert or sporting event, masked. Even with a mask, she would not attend an indoor wedding or religious ceremony.
Emergency physician Uché Blackstock, founder and CEO of the consulting firm Advancing Health Equity, said she’d forgo indoor and outdoor large gatherings at this point.
We asked two questions about travel: “Would you travel to a part of the United States experiencing a surge in Covid cases?” and “Would you go on a non-essential international trip?” Surprisingly, there was slightly more willingness in the group to travel internationally than to domestic Covid hot spots.
In response to the former, Peter Hotez was succinct. “I’m living it,” said the Hotez, co-director of the Texas Children’s Center for Vaccine Development, based in Houston-swamped Covid-19.
Del Rio, who lives in Atlanta, goes frequently to Miami to visit his son and his son’s family. “I am very careful when I travel,” he said. Since the pandemic began he has twice visited his mother in Mexico, “but at this point I am not going. May go later in the year,” he wrote.
Carl Bergstrom, an evolutionary biologist at the University of Washington, said he wouldn’t travel abroad now. Not because of Covid directly, but because he might get stuck somewhere if travel restrictions were instituted. Hanage and his family vacationed on Cape Cod this year instead of taking a planned trip to Iceland, for the same reason.
Nahid Bhadelia, director of Boston University’s Center for Emerging Infectious Diseases Policy & Research, said she would not travel to an American Covid hot zone if she could avoid it, but would travel internationally, if her destination had a high vaccination rate and a low transmission rate.
Angela Rasmussen, a coronavirus virologist at the University of Saskatchewan’s Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization, said she would travel to a location in the U.S. having an upswing in Covid transmission, but would do it using precautions. As for international travel, “depends where, but masked,” she said.
Our final question was for the physicians in the group was this: “Would you recommend that patients who received the one-dose J&J vaccine get another dose of vaccine?”
Crotty, the immunologist at La Jolla Institute of Immunology, said yes; he tweeted recently about his support for giving J&J recipients an extra dose of vaccine to cope with the Delta variant. “I have had physicians emailing me thanks about my [Twitter] threads on this,” he said.
Megan Ranney, an emergency physician at Lifespan Health System in Providence, R.I., said she’s waiting for guidance from the Food and Drug Administration. “But in the meantime, I certainly wouldn’t judge anyone who does get another dose.”
And Helen Keipp Talbot, a vaccine researcher at Vanderbilt University, pleaded the Fifth. Talbot is a member of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, which advises the CDC on vaccination policy. “No comment,” was her reply.

Attending Physician, WA: "I was in the middle of doing an exam on a patient when an administrator from my hospital interrupted the visit to speak to me. He asked if the patient was at high risk for COVID infection. When I explained that he was not, he told me to immediately take off my mask. When I refused, he ripped it off my face, stating: 'You are giving patients the impression that COVID is far worse than it is.'"
Physician Assistant, VT: “I work in a community hospital. I was wearing an N-95 mask I brought from home since our hospital was out of stock. A hospital administrator told me I could not wear one because unless I had enough with me to give to everyone, no one could wear them. He put a written complaint in my file when my response was, ‘I have heard of share-day in preschool— but must have missed the It's share-day in the ER memo.'"
Attending Physician, NY: “I was just placed on administrative leave indefinitely because I sent an email to the entire administrative team of the health system where I work, questioning (firmly) why they had yet to create an operationalized system that hospital staff and physicians could follow so positive COVID patients in our hospital could be separated from those who did not have it."
Medical Assistant, CA: “After a Zoom meeting where we were told we no longer needed to wear PPE if we were not within two feet of an ill patient, I asked the director of health services in our healthcare system running the meeting if exceptions could be made for those individuals who were immune-compromised like myself, since I had just returned to work after a short leave due to treatment for breast cancer. His response: 'Do you think having cancer makes you special? If you don’t agree with these recommendations then you can self-elect to use PTO and stay at home.'”
Critical Care Physician, AZ: "As a critical care physician, I asked our hospital administration what they expected me and my colleagues to do if we were faced with a situation where our need for ventilators exceeded what we had available. His response: 'Do the best you can.' I questioned this by requesting something more procedural and in writing that physicians could follow but was told, 'We don’t have time to put together a protocol for a situation that will likely never happen. However, if this time comes, we can discuss it then.' Apparently being proactive is outside the scope of healthcare administrators capabilities.”
Registered Nurse, CA: “Our administrators said they would be working from home and would not be coming into the hospital. I inquired as to why. They told us that their contributions to the work flows at this time were not as important as ours as healthcare employees, and they didn’t want to risk increasing the numbers of those infected. Another nurse sitting next to me in the same on-line meeting asked, ‘If you aren’t as important as those of us coming in to work every day amidst this COVID crisis then why do you get paid four times more than what physicians do?’ The administrator ended the meeting without responding.”
Attending Physician, WA: “The administrators called an emergency meeting to discuss PPE. As an Infectious Disease specialist, I requested to be in attendance. I was told this would not be necessary, however, I was assured that no formal decisions as they pertained to PPE would be made without administration first gathering my input. Not more than an hour after the meeting was due to start, a mass email was sent to the entire hospital system workforce of nearly 10,000 people stating that masks would be given out on a case-by-case basis determined only by those on the administrative team. In other words, it wouldn’t be those with a medical or nursing degree determining who needed a mask and who did not, but instead those with a business one. Smart.”
Central Supply Director, KY: “There are approximately 20,000 masks sitting in our central supply storage with an expiration date of January 2020. Despite this, I made a recommendation that we redistribute them to other hospitals in our system who needed them. The next day at work, all the masks were off the inventory list and I was later told by my boss that I should not ask questions about system recommendations that are outside of my pay grade.”
Medical Clinic Manager, CA: “In the healthcare system I belong to, we currently have two CEO’s each making nearly $10 million dollars a year. They run the largest healthcare corporation in the nation, yet when I asked in January if we could be proactive about COVID, I was told by hospital administration that funds were tight and we wouldn’t be able to order excess PPE in preparation. As I was walking away from the administrator he said, ‘Take my advice, if you have stocks, start selling them.’ I didn’t understand what he meant by this until now. They knew this was coming yet did nothing to prepare.”
Attending Physician, PA: “I and my other surgeon colleagues each received a phone call from our hospital CEO that despite recommendations from the Surgeon General, under no circumstances were we to take it upon ourselves to reschedule elective surgeries. If we did, we would risk losing our jobs.”
Attending Physician, TX: “I overheard the CFO from our hospital system tell our hospital president that they were allocating insurance reimbursement money as a potential bonus opportunity to hospital administrators who were able to stay on budget without costing them more amid this COVID (and I quote) 'shit-show.'”
Attending Physician, SC: “I recently came down with a low-grade fever and chills. I emailed my clinic manager suggesting I be tested for COVID. I was told not to test due to the need for me in the clinic and to wait until I was showing signs of shortness of breath. I didn’t realize that the administrators running the show had in their spare time, obtained a degree to practice medicine.”

I'm sending in a prompt. I'm gonna say reverse AU, Reed900. Word: Jealousy
//I haven't done a reverse au before so I hope you like it!
“Green suits your eyes better than your complexion.” Allen, the AL500 model remarked as he followed Gavin’s line of sight to where Richard was speaking to a pretty red head named North, “Go talk to him. The revolution is over, we have rights, tell him how you feel.” “Easy for you to say, Silas was all over you the moment we were declared sentient. Richard hasn’t spoken to me outside of work, nothing has changed.” Gavin remarked. “You deviate saving a guy’s life and this is the thanks you get.” A forlorn sigh came from behind him, it was one of the Arkait twins, but unless he wanted to turn away from watching Richard, he wouldn’t know which one until they spoke. “He might not know you’re deviant. Your behavior hasn’t exactly changed, you know.” Connor remarked as he moved into Gavin’s periphery, “Have either of you seen Hank?” “Neither has his Connor. You and Silas both relaxed around us, but he hasn’t. He’s still keeping me at arms length.” Gavin responded, “And no I haven’t seen him yet.” “Go talk to him then. Clearly this standing and brooding thing isn’t gonna get you answers.” Connor shoved him forward, “I’m going to go look for Hank.” Gavin flipped off Connor’s retreating figure and let out an unneeded breath in the form of an exasperated sigh. “Fine, but when this doesn’t work I’m putting salt in his coffee.”
He detoured to the buffet to grab a drink for Richard so he would have something to fall on if that damned red head was still there. The bitterness that had been simmering just beneath his synthskin came back with a vengeance and settled into his code, or at least it felt that way. He grabbed a can of Diet Coke since that was what Richard liked. He made his way over and found that yes, North was still there. “Good evening Gavin.” North greeted with an amicable smile, “Enjoying the galla?” “Honestly no.” He nodded toward North before he turned his attention toward Richard. “I brought you a soda.” Richard smiled at him, it wasn’t the work smile, but it also wasn’t a genuine one. Richard was uncomfortable, “Thanks Gavin.” He said as he took the soda. Gavin tried to think of an excuse to get Richard out of here. Since he was relatively sure it was the large gathering that was making the detective uncomfortable. He came up blank. It was a rewards ceremony so they couldn’t just leave, and encouraging Richard to go out for a smoke after encouraging him to quit would undo all the work he had done. Which left him in a tight spot. What could be done? What was a viable excuse to get time alone with him.

“-vin? Gavin?” Richard was staring at him with concern when Gavin came back to himself, “You’re LED his red are you alright?” He didn’t give him a chance to answer before he turned to North, “We’re gonna step out for a bit, we should be back before speeches start.” With that he pulled Gavin toward the hallway. His LED which he had just gotten back to blue went red again. Allen gave him a thumbs up and Gavin flipped him off. Richard didn’t stop until they were outside. He pulled Gavin in front of him and looked him over as though he was checking for inquires. Gavin was fine, physically at least. His new emotions were still going haywire. “What’s wrong? You’re on red again.” Richard asked, his masks had fallen away. The detective was gone, in his place was a concerned friend. Gavin didn’t know what to do with that.

Gavin blinked the notification away, “I’m just struggling with where I stand with you.” He started honestly, “Deviancy comes with so may things I never had to deal with before. Feelings for one, and then finding ways to deal with them when they take over everything and blindside me.” “What do you mean? We’re friends, and you’re one of the few coworkers I can tolerate that isn’t my brother.” Richard’s brows furrowed making his confusion evident. “That isn’t it!” Gavin snapped. Richard flinched at the sudden outburst and Gavin struggled to collect himself. He took another unneeded breath and let it out slowly, “Whenever I see you with anyone else I get mad and I don’t know why. Its so bad I get preconstructions for how to best get you out of the situation and some of them are needlessly violent and I can’t stop them. I don’t know what to do about it.”

“So you’re jealous?” Richard sounded like he was about to laugh, “Gavin you have no reason to be jealous. You’re just as much my friend as they are.” Friend. There was that word again. It wasn’t enough, it wasn’t what Gavin wanted. He grit his teeth against the wave of anger and jealousy, now that it had a name he was more aware of it. “What if I don’t want to be friends?” He pressed, treading carefully. “What if I want more than that? What if I- God, this was going better in my head...” He resigned himself to the inevitable punch, and pulled Richard down for a kiss. It was really more crashing their faces together, but it was the best he could do in his panic. He pulled away after a moment. “What  if I want that?” Richard smiled and pulled him in for a proper kiss, “Then all you needed to do was ask.”

ZANSHIN PAMPHLET
☆ ZANSHIN PAMPHLET ・REFERENCE☆
IKU: Hello! It's October from now! Let's make it a fulfilling month! Right of the bat, I have a little surprise for everyone. It's a glimpse Zanshin pamphlet, which is currently being produced. Here's Hajime-san and Haru-san! Hmmm, there are a few words I'm curious about.
#Zanshin
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Tumblr media
☆ MUTSUKI HAJIME ☆
"For the world's dawn, open a path."
Soldier Class \ General (The Best) ※Unique Placement
Placement \ ???
A young man who stands alone at the forefront as the strongest soldier despite having a qualification as a Planner (commander). It seems that he has his own purpose that differs from the commands of the headquarters. Basically, he acts alone and is elusive. He is called "The Black King" and is nearly legendary. He is quiet, thoughtful, stoic but also a companion. He is a hero who has helped his allies on multiple occasions and is extremely popular with the Soldiers. It has been witnessed that he is doing his best to avoid "The White King" and to not clash swords with him either.
Cast Comment - Hajime: Personally, I'm really looking forward to this work because the selling point is the action. It's more livelier than usual behind the scenes, but unfortunately because of the mask, I hardly speak (laughs). A mysterious and lonely hero. Please look forward to it?

☆ YAYOI HARU ☆
"A heart, you see, is best left unseen."
Soldier Class \ Colonel (Decisive Battle)
Placement \ 6th Troop, 1st Infantry Division
A native belonging to the certain country who created Regret. However, his family left the country when he was very young and lived in another country. He, himself, has no memory of the country. Only his nationality remained. However, the news of Regrets rampaging came out. A tragic incident occurs in which the those involved were attacked by everyone. His family also dealt with malice. In the end, his younger sister was injured and required a wheelchair. As such, he volunteers to work in Minerva in exchange for his family's safety.
Cast Comment - Haru: The Haru of this work is a person who keeps standing on the battlefield with a calm face and silent anger. By meeting "The Black King", it seems that finally his side's can finally be seen... Well, it's definitely an interesting story! There are also scenes where I interact with Kai. I won't lose! I'll do by best!

☆ ZANSHIN PAMPHLET ・REFERENCE ②☆
IKU: Here's the description of the class too. Various privileges are given according to the rank, so soldiers... ah, it's Soldier. Anyway, there are people who become so. In addition, the pamphlet also includes behind-the-scenes too. It's a must-see! Please look forward to it! T/N: soliders is written in hiragana while Soldier is written in katakana.

Muriel x Reader (Modern AU)
I’ve never done modern au before, so hopefully it turns out good!
***EDIT*** I wrote this... probably in October, and now I’m finishing and revising! Here’s the draft of the You-choose Modern AU of Vesuvia’s Favorite MC: You! You’ll be able to choose which ending, once I get finished with it.
You fumble with your dorm key. You heard Vance and their four friends coming near. An interesting bunch, those six. They laughed and cussed as they turned the corner to the upstairs hallway. You urgently shoved the key in the lock about 50 different ways, yet they were all wrong. You couldn’t get into your room fast enough.
You cringed as they approached you. Maybe you could shrink so small, they wouldn’t notice you.
“Hey, hey! Why don’t you look at shorty here, trying to get away?” Vance Vulgora marched right up to you and smacked your lanyard out of your hand. Your keys flew across the hall, clattering by the door to the stairs. You held the place they hit you, which blushed into a red print.
Vance cackled and slammed the wall above your head, closing in on you with a sharp toothy grin. They were the best boxer at your university, towering over you at an alarming height. You didn’t understand why they liked to fight so much. Especially with you.
They’d constantly pick on you, just because you were short. That was the only damn reason! You were 5 feet tall to be exact. You didn’t even know why you were still in this dorm building. You’d requested to be transferred a long long time ago, as far away from them as possible. You guessed those stupid college admins didn’t care about your well being.
“Leave me alone, Vance.”
Your whisper came out very weak, not an ounce of authority in your voice. You cowered back from them as they came closer to your face. Vance’s breath was hot on your ears as they laughed. They barked and clamped down on your ear with their teeth.
“Ow!” You yelped, pushing them away as hard as you could. Vance didn’t budge. Instead, they just chuckled softly, lingering around your face. “You don’t like it when I bite?” They taunted you while they had you trapped.
Skinny Vinnie, as you liked to call him, snickered under his breath. His greasy silver hair was plastered to his face, making you gag. Vinnie Vlastomil was the grossest guy you’d ever met. He smelled like sick and you swear he never showered. Rumor was that he had a pet worm that lived in his sweatshirt pocket.
“Don’t break the poor thing,” Viktor said, crossing his arms indifferently. “You don’t have an ounce of class, Vance.” Viktor Valerius. You didn’t mind him so much. He was just a little stuck up, but otherwise an okay guy. He turned to Val, shaking his head. “Wanna get out of here?”
Val looked at him blankly for a minute, then shrugged. Nobody on campus knew Val’s real name, so that’s what everybody called them. They were a bio-med major. They never really talked either, real mysterious type. They always gave you a really creepy vibe. On top of that, they always wore a face mask, sometimes it’d be leather, sometimes it’d be KN-95. Just depended on the day.
The two of them walked away toward the dining hall, leaving their other goonies behind.
“Yeah, stop being a bully and let’s go, Vance. (Y/n) isn’t food! We were supposed to go to the dining hall like... forever ago! Lucio, make them stop.” The short read-headed girl jumped up and down, whining and tugging on Lucio’s sleeve.
Verona Volta. She was actually really sweet. You had no idea why she hung with those stupid bullies. She didn’t fit in with them at all.
“Alright, Vance. Quit. You didn’t have to bite. (Y/n) is just a baby.”
Lucio took Verona’s advice. He grabbed Vance by their collar and yanked them away from you. You were grateful for Lucio, even though the comment about you being a baby was all wrong. Well... only half wrong. You were a transfer from another college, and sure it was your first year, but you had enough credits to be a sophomore! Oh, bah. Why do you even bother with that?
Vance pointed at you. “I’ll be back, twerp.” With this, they disappeared down the stairs in the same direction Val and Viktor went. Verona waved to you and quickly hurried after them, dragging Vinnie behind her. The only person left in the hallway with you was Lucio.
Select For Lucio’s Ending Continue for Muriel’s (You-choose in progress)
He gave you a once over before walking away.
You sniffled and went to go pick up your keys, holding your throbbing ear. Before you could reach your keys, someone else does. He was muscular... and really tall. Was everyone so damn tall around here?
“Here...” He said, giving you your lanyard.
You shake your head hesitantly. “Um, thanks.”
He nods slowly then turns to go. So he was just going to disappear, just like that?
“Um... hey,” You call. The stranger turns around, his thick ponytail swishing to the side. His black hoodie was old and fading, unzipped enough to reveal a simple green shirt. You fidget, staring down at your feet. His shoes caught your eye. They had to be at least a size seventeen. Where did he find green Vans in that size anyway?
“Yeah?”
“What’s your name?”
The guy stared at you blankly and you could tell he wasn’t amused. You had never seen him before, but you wanted to know him. He was kinda cute.
“Really not that important. Don’t bother.”
Your shoulders slump. “Just tell me.”
“Why?”
“Well... maybe we can be friends.”
It seems to weigh on his mind. A pinkness tints his cheeks as he looks at you intently. It was almost like he was sorting you through. You shifted on your feet as he decided what to think of you.
“I don’t need friends.”
You scoffed. What an asshole! You thought he was going to be nice after he helped you with your keys, but he was actually turning out to be a rude, antisocial jerk. Beyond making you a angry, it hurt your feelings a little.
“Well, what if I do?”
The desperation in your voice made you want to die of embarrassment, but you already said it and there was nothing you could do about that. You couldn’t help but notice the breath catch in his throat and the downright redness that graduated from his slight pink blush. He bore a hole into his feet with his wide green eyes, taken aback from what you said. Sighing, he finally caved. He muttered his name under his breath.
“It’s- it’s Muriel...”
Your expression softened, and you were no longer offended by his guarded behavior. That was actually a really cute name. You decided not to tell him that. He seemed grumpy enough as it is.
“It’s nice to meet you, Muriel. I’m (y/n).”
Muriel nodded shortly. He looked like he was in a rush to get away from you... but also some part of him wanted to stay. His feet were turned in the opposite direction from you, but they weren’t going anywhere...
“(Y/n)… Okay.”
Just then your phone rings and you flip it out of your pocket. Muriel turns to go and you wave at him, satisfied that you had introduced yourself. As you answer your phone, a soft, light and familiar voice sounded in your ear.
“Hey, (y/n). Back from class yet?”
“Oh, Asra. Um, yeah. I’m actually outside my room. What’s up?”
Muriel stops in his tracks and turns around to look at you. He has a puzzled expression plastered onto his face in the form of comically raised eyebrows and a shocked and twisted mouth. He just kept getting redder and redder.
“I just wanted to come hang out, maybe take a nap.”
You laugh. “Sure, sure. You can come. My room isn’t clean though.”
You could feel his smile through the phone. “Eh, don’t worry. I’ll take care of that.”
You two hang up and you look up to see Muriel still standing there. An awkward, pregnant pause hung in the air as you waited for him to say his piece. He hesitated, having a staring contest with your feet.
“You.. know Asra?”
You nod. “Yeah, we went to high school together. He’s pretty much my only friend,” you gave the gentle giant a smooth smirk. “Besides you.”
You couldn’t help but tease him.
Muriel rolled his eyes and finally got to moving. He went toward the elevator, giving you a wide berth as he veered around you. You turn and called after him.
“Could I have your phone number?”
He stopped dead in his track and turned around, his eyes wide in alarm. Jeez, did everything you say offend him?
“My... phone number? Why would you need that?”
“To text you?”
“About what?”
“Um... anything?”
“You are very pushy.”
“You are very red.”
Muriel chokes on his own spit and begins to cough into his hand, leaving you to wonder he even talked to anyone at all. When he was finished, you decided to just walk up to him and hand him your phone. He was even taller when you stood so close, his shadow engulfing you completely.
He reluctantly put his number into your contacts and you did the same for him. You could feel his eyes on you between every tap of his monstrously large fingers. When each phone was in it’s respective place, you gave him a brisk and friendly nod.
“Okay, so I’ll text you then?” You phrased it in the form of a question, so maybe he’d feel less pressured.
“I-if you want. I guess.”
“Good.
See you,” he says.
He all but vanishes down the stairs leaving you puzzled, but a little warm and fuzzy. If you didn’t have the courage to stand up to Vance, you at least had the courage to talk to a cute stranger.

Completions and Connections: Quarantine Christmas
So 2020, huh? Ugh. Santana and I had started the year amazingly, with Tyler turning a year old and me kind of setting up a schedule that let me go on assignment more than I had in his first year—though, so much less than I had before I had a wife and a son to want to be home with. Things were good...and then they weren’t. But obviously everyone can relate, you know, it didn’t happen in a bubble or anything.
I was in Sweden when Santana called me utterly freaking out. Because I was always pretty isolated from the news when I was traveling and she hadn’t seemed especially worried about COVID until shit hit the fan, I was taken almost entirely by surprise. She told me that it looked like everything was going to shut down, she didn’t know what was going to happen with the borders and she wanted me to come home as soon as possible. Honestly, in hindsight I should have had her bring Tyler to Sweden where there was actually a competent federal government, but obviously that’s not what happened.
I called my boss immediately and within hours, I’d abandoned my shoot and was on a plane bound for New York. Nothing else really mattered to me except getting home to them and since everyone was in a collective state of what the fuck, no one even argued with me about it. Two days later, Discover pulled all of their foreign correspondents anyway, so I pretty much got out just in time. We figured it would be two weeks, a month maybe, and then things would get back to normal. Little did we know how wrong we were.
Back in New York, things were...weird. People packed up and left the city in droves, everything looked abandoned and I immediately wished that we had a place in the mountains that we could go to. We probably could have bought something, that was true, but Santana had her practice and we both knew she wouldn’t abandon that, she’d worked too hard for it.
Yeah, so speaking of that. Tyler’s daycare shut down with everything else, I was home indefinitely, but my wife, my beautiful, amazing wife, still had to go to work every day. That was the scariest thing for us, knowing that she could be exposed at any given moment, knowing that she could bring it home to Tyler and I. We knew she was as safe as could be, she stockpiled PPE on a regular basis because she dealt with disease anyway and was super precautious about protection, but we couldn’t help but wonder if it would be enough. For two days, we discussed whether she should go stay with Unique and isolate from us, but Tyler was still nursing and we thought it would really mess him up if she was gone. We had no idea if we were making the right choice, but it was a choice we had to make.
Everything was a major adjustment. Tyler and I had to learn a new routine during the day where I pulled ideas from Pinterest to do with him and ordered about a zillion boxes from Amazon full of activities. I took him out on walks in the early morning before people were outside, letting him breathe the fresh air when it was safe and taking pictures of the empty city, figuring at some point Discover might want them for a series and quite honestly, missing being behind the lens of a camera. I learned to bake bread, I made elaborate dinners and I fought so much boredom, remembering every day that it was better to be bored than dead.
It was different for Santana though. Though she wasn’t working with diagnosed COVID patients, she never knew what was walking through her door. Each night, she came home with marks under her eyes from her N-95, a band indent around her head from her face shield, and her face just so tired from doing the best she could to provide her patients with care in the midst of everything else. So I held her tight, I told her how much I loved her, how proud of her I was, but that didn’t help on the nights she heard that a patient had died, that didn’t help when she heard from contact tracers that someone had been to her office who tested positive and she shut herself up in the guest bedroom away from Tyler and me and waited anxiously for her latest round of test results.
But onto the more positive, our boy absolutely thrived. Turns out I was kinda good at the whole stay at home mom thing and I was glad that I found fulfillment in that. Plus, I wasn’t halfway around the world when he took his first steps, didn’t miss him say “mama” for the first time and all of that good stuff. We FaceTimed with my parents and Santana’s all the time, made sure they got to see him grow. When things got a little better in the summer, Tina would join us on our walks with her son and the two boys would babble away to each other from their respective strollers. And most importantly, we learned to look for the good, we tried to ignore the worst in people and see the best because it was really the only way we could get through it.
Christmas was three days away and though we wouldn’t do our customary dinner with Santana’s parents, she and I were still really excited that our boy was in love with the lights on the tree, that he was big enough to sit on the counter with us while we made Christmas cookies, could sit through half of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer before he got fussy. Maybe Christmas was really different then it had ever been before—and Christmas was obviously so important to Santana and I—but that didn’t mean that it couldn’t still be magical.
“Office is officially closed until December 27th.” Santana burst into the house that evening, her red scarf wrapped around her neck and the biggest grin on her face as soon as she pulled off her mask. “Let me shower and change and then I’m going to give you two the biggest kisses.”
Like she did every day when she came home from work, Santana immediately stripped off her clothes and put them in the washing machine and jumped right in the shower. I missed being able to kiss her as soon as she walked in the door, but we both knew it was much safer to wait twenty minutes until any surface germs were off of her. Tyler didn’t exactly get it, he still whined and waited outside the bathroom door, but he was always the first one she kissed, our sweet little boy.
“Come on, Ty, let’s make Mama an espresso so she can sit down and relax with us when she gets out.”
I took the baby into the kitchen with me and made Santana’s afternoon drink, sprinkling a little cinnamon on top, because it was almost Christmas after all and I wanted it to be special for her. When she came out of the shower, she took Tyler from my arms and kissed him all over his face, laughing right along with him and his sweet little giggles. Then she sandwiched him between us and kissed my lips, smiling as she did. I knew that her job was more stressful than ever and the five days off would do her some real good.
“What’s on the Christmas agenda tonight, Britt?” She asked, putting Tyler on her hip and taking her cup from me.
“My parents want to FaceTime, if that’s okay with you.”
“Obviously, we haven’t talked to them since last week.”
“Yeah, well, you know how my mom is.” I shrugged, thinking that she was probably a little pissed that we told her not to come for Christmas and Ty’s birthday, but it was what it was. “It probably won’t be long, who knows?”
“Are you okay, babe?”
“Yeah I guess I’m just aggravated with her. She’s asked me like four hundred times if we changed our minds about her coming. This is like Thanksgiving all over again.”
“I mean, I get it, it sucks. Everyone wants to be with their families and I can’t wait until this is over so we can take Ty to Colorado, but we’re just not there yet.”
“Can I tell you a secret?”
“Obviously, Britt, you tell me all your secrets. You couldn’t even hang onto my birthday gift for more than a day after you got it this year.”
“I love Christmas Eve with your parents, it would have been nice to have mine here, but I kind of selfishly am looking forward to this year being just the three of us. Last year poor Tyler was so tired when we got home from your parents’, Christmas Day will be better with him on his regular routine.”
“I agree, and I honestly am looking forward to just relaxing with you guys, no stress, no drama, no dealing with my grandmother who can’t even bring herself to look at our son.” She shook her head. “Plus, it’s our anniversary, I do love the idea of not having your parents in the apartment that night.”
“Oh really?” I smirked and she laughed, before Tyler pat her face and shouted ‘Mama!’
“I know, baby boy, Mommy and I are totally ignoring you. “Let’s go play for a little while before we have to start dinner.”
So I was obsessed with watching Santana on the floor with Tyler. It started when he was a baby and she’d lay beside him got tummy time. I could never resist taking out my camera and getting a few shots of them together, especially because he was the spitting image of her and they just looked absolutely beautiful together. Santana always teased me about how many pictures I had, but I couldn’t help myself ever. They were too much and I loved them with everything in me.
Santana got so involved with playing with Tyler that I assured her I’d make dinner and slipped off into the kitchen, leaving them on the floor playing with his ball tower. It was hard to believe that our kid was almost two, that it had been so long since she and I reunited on Christmas Eve in the grocery store. But it was perfect. It really was, even in the midst of 2020, I had nothing to complain about in my life. We were healthy, we were happy and though we’d really been isolated from everyone else, we knew how loved we were.
We had barely finished eating dinner when my phone rang and I sighed a little when I looked down and saw that it was my mother. I really didn’t want another fight with her and as much as I wanted her to see Tyler, even through the screen, it had been hard. She was a hippie at heart and she didn’t do well with feeling like the government was controlling her, so I had to explain only about a thousand times that it was for her safety and everyone else’s.
“Hi Grandma.” I held the phone in front of Tyler and he grinned and waved.
“Hi Mamaw!”
“It’s my little Ty! Oh how I want to kiss your face and squeeze you!”
“Here we go.” I mouthed to Santana who rolled her eyes.
“Don’t you think Grandma should come for Christmas? I promise, I’ll bring lots of presents.”
“Mom!” I turned the phone away from him and toward me. “Not cool.”
“It’s just me and your father, Brittany, it’s not like we’re bringing the whole world to see you.”
“We said no. We’re not seeing Santana’s parents, we’re not seeing our friends. The case count is rising and it’s only going to get worse after Christmas. We refuse to put anyone at risk.”
“Whitney, listen.” Santana took the phone from me, sensing my frustration. “I promise the first thing that we’ll do when this is over is come to Colorado, okay?”
“But it’s been a year since I’ve seen my grandson, your parents have at least seen him outside.”
“I know, and if you lived closer, we would see you outside too, but that’s just not what’s going on.”
“It just doesn’t feel like the holiday season.”
“It’s one year, Mom.” I took the phone back. “That’s it. And I’ve told you this more times than I can count. You calling and harassing us and trying to bribe Tyler isn’t going to change that.”
“I think dinner’s ready, I have to go.”
She hung up the call before I could say anything else and Santana came behind me and squeezed my shoulders. I relaxed into her body and she kissed my neck, knowing that always got my mind off of anything else. But then, Tyler started crying and I kind of wanted to punch my mom since he enjoyed talking to her so much and I didn’t think it was fair that she was taking out her frustrations on him.
“C’mere, baby.” I lifted him out of his high chair and gave him a squeeze. “It’s bath time!”
It was kind of funny how after Tyler was born, I became so much less awkward around people. Whenever I was able to stay put in New York, I had taken him to his Music Together class, to the park, wherever I could, you know, back when those things were still open and having him almost made me have some kind of common ground with other human beings so I didn’t just blurt out whatever was on my mind as often. Not to say it didn’t still happen, I was still me, after all, but I think Santana and I both really changed once he came along, in the best way possible.
The next day, we FaceTimed with the Changs, Kurt and Dave who had been working from home and isolating outside of the city since March and Mercedes, who had been pulling a real Taylor Swift and writing album after album in quarantine. While Tyler napped, Santana and I finished wrapping the last of his presents and got them all situated to put under the tree for the next night. I was beyond excited for the non-traditional Christmas, just ready to watch Christmas movies and drink hot cocoa in our pajamas and I knew Santana was too.
The next morning, Tyler woke us up before six and I told Santana to stay in bed while I went across the hall to get him. He completely beamed up at me, though his eyes were still tired, and I lifted him into my arms to bring him into our bedroom. Once he was in the bed, he crawled around, pawing at Santana’s face and she finally sat up with a laugh, kissing him all over his face.
“Merry Christmas Eve, little dude.” She told him. “You know Santa’s coming tonight.”
“Santa! Santa!” He clapped, though neither of us were really sure he even knew what that meant.
“What do you want to do today, babe?” Santana asked me and I shrugged.
“I mean, we’re doing the Christmas movie marathon tomorrow and you know, we ate all the fudge your mom dropped off...”
“So you want to make fudge?”
“I mean, you’re the keeper of Maribel Lopez’s secret fudge recipe, it only seems right.”
“If you want fudge, you get fudge.” She smiled and I did a little happy dance in the bed. The fudge was honestly so good that sometimes, when I was gone for longer than I’d like and I was hitting that homesickness point, Santana would send it in a care package. Yeah, my wife was cute like that, she didn’t stop sending me care packages just because we had rings on our fingers. The best, seriously.
So we made the fudge. Then we went for a walk in the park, where there were thankfully not too many people to have to dodge and we looked up at the sky, thinking it really looked like snow was coming. A white Christmas would be nice and probably the most un-2020 thing to happen so I really kind of was looking forward to it. Once Tyler was asleep in his stroller, we went home and Santana carried him upstairs to his bed and we went to do one last double check on the gifts.
“You’re sure you’re cool with being Santa tonight?” She asked me.
“We couldn’t take him to Macy’s and he needs to have a picture with Santa, of course I’m cool with being Santa. We got the suit and the pillows and the beard, I’m so ready.”
“You’re really the best mom, you know that right?”
“Please...you’re like super mom or something.”
“Just let me give you a compliment, Britt.” She rolled her eyes. “I hate that everything has sucked pretty bad in the world, but him having you around every day, and me not having to freak out about if he was safe while I went to work is definitely the best thing that ever could have happened.”
“It feels really good to be able to do it. I don’t know, looking at the map in his nursery showing me in New York for the past nine months has been really good, I feel like I miss a lot when I’m gone.”
“Do you not want to do it anymore?”
“No, I do, I’m just grateful for the time. And to be honest, I don’t think my job is ever going to go back to looking like what it used to, so maybe that means a lot more time with you both.”
“We’re so lucky, you know? I thought about it a lot this year, like what if I would have been single when this happened and isolated from my parents and my friends. It’s hard enough some days, but going through it alone...”
“Yeah, I know. I totally do. Even in the shittiest year, the world is a whole lot better with you and Tyler in it.”
After another hour or so, Tyler woke up and was ready to play. We pulled over his learning tower in the kitchen and he stood at the counter with us as we cooked our Christmas Eve feast. Just because it was the three of us didn’t mean we weren’t going to do tamales and a pork shoulder like we did every year at Santana’s parents—although luckily, we’d prepared the tamales ahead of time—and even though it was a little early, Santana poured bourbon into our eggnog and we started celebrating.
After dinner, I went upstairs and changed into my Santa suit. Maybe people would think it said something about gender roles or what the fuck ever that I was the one to dress up as Santa, but it wasn’t like that. I just thought it would be really fun and figured we could get our Christmas picture of Tyler. While Santana had him in his bedroom, I slipped out of the door to our apartment and waited with my mask in the hallway for Santana to open up to my knocks. When the door swung open, she held Tyler in her arms and I gave my best ‘ho ho ho’ carrying two gifts for him.
“Mommy!” He shouted, clapping his hands and giggling. “Mommy!”
“That’s not Mommy, silly boy.” Santana laughed, eyes sparkling. “It’s Santa Claus.”
“No, Mommy!”
“Alright.” I chuckled, taking off my beard and hat so as not to confuse him. “You’re right. C’mere, buddy.”
Santana just laughed and laughed as I took him into my arms and handed her the gifts. He was a smart one, that was for sure, and he patted my cheeks as I carried him over to the Lord Tubbington proof Christmas tree and sat down on the floor with him.
“You’re right Ty, Santa isn’t coming until after you’re asleep, I was just being silly. But look, we have some presents for you.”
We sat with him as he took his time opening his gifts, a new pair of Christmas pajamas and a copy of Olive the Other Reindeer to read at bedtime. He was really excited about the book and roughly turned the pages, trying to see all the pictures. Then, we took him up for his bath and got him settled into his new pajamas and into his bed. Santana read to him and I sat back and watched, just so in love with the two of them. I didn’t even bother to take pictures though, I just wanted to be in the moment and Santana occasionally looked over at me and smiled. Even with the shit year we’d had, it really was the perfect Christmas Eve and once Tyler’s eyes slipped closed, I leaned over and kissed Santana on the lips.
“Merry Christmas, my love.” She smiled.
“The merriest yet.”

Hi! I love your Kakashi HC so much! can you please write one where he have the nighmare in front of you for the first time?
Kakashi X Reader | Comforting Him After A Nightmare For The First Time
Tumblr media
Masterlist
Kakashi has been experiencing these nightmares for as long as he remembers but he never mentioned them to you, even while you two were dating. But as you started spending nights together, you figured that he was a restless sleeper.
You were a solid sound sleeper. But you could feel that he moved a lot during nights and used to get up quite often too. You thought it was just him being restless that's all. So rather than confronting him directly, because he gets a little anxious knowing that he is doing something that is bothering you when its' completely not. You set up lavender diffusers in his room, made him chamomile tea before bed, all the things that help in better sleep.
But it didn't really help. One day you got up and it was around 2 am and went to the bathroom. You heard Kakashi calling your name and you could feel worried lingering in his voice. So you got back and saw your boyfriend looking for you in the kitchen. As he turned, the expression on his face was completely alien to you. He wasn't wearing the mask so you were able to see them completely. They were a mix of worry, fear, anger and it almost felt like he was about to cry.
Before you could say anything he came rushing towards you and hugged you tighter than ever before. You could feel the wetness on your shoulder. He was crying. But rather than asking what's wrong the best thing you thought you could do was just hug him back. And as you did a loud sigh left his mouth and he said, "Oh thank god y/n you're here."
You were still confused but you yourself felt like crying after seeing him like this. You replied very gently with a, "I'm here Kakashi, I'm here." while running your hands in his hair and rubbing his back and arms to make him realize that you WERE there, and with the warmth of your hands and your words he felt a lot more calmer.
He let go of you after wiping his tears so that you don't have to see him like this. You gentle wiped the rest of them and gave him a very soft yet passionate peck on the lips. "Let's go to bed," you said as you took his hand and got into bed with him. You made sure that he was warm and pulled the sheets over him before tucking yourself him. All the while he was just there, following your lead with a confused expression. Weren't you curious about what just happened? Or are you doing this so that he doesn't feel bad? Why weren't you asking any questions? Silently he was relieved that he didn't have to explain everything and make you worry.
You lay your head in his chest while his chin resting on top of your head. You wrapped your arms around me and tried to get as close as you could to give your warmth to him. Which was actually working and he was feeling a lot more calmer. But as he was about to justify himself you crossed him and said, "Tell me when you are ready. For now, just know I'm not leaving you okay? Besides no one can fangirl about itcha itcha with me as you do, so it's not like I have much of a choice." Till the first part he was about to cry but in the second half, he laughed heartedly yet slipped that one tear that was about to come out anyway.
Knowing that you are not scared or anything with this sudden burst of emotions from his side, really helped him calm down. He kissed the top of your head and you kissed the temple of his neck in response.
He slept peacefully that night, didn't even took one turn. Knowing that really puts you to ease that your company is all that he genuinely needs.

Tsukishima X Reader | How He Shows His Affection
Tumblr media
Masterlist
Tsukki is the type of person who is not very much affectionate in public buuut just wait till you two get home or are alone. He. Is. All. Over. You! It's almost as if he was stopping himself from hugging you all this time!
He needs to be touching you all the time! If you are alone he'll have one hand on your thigh or just across your shoulder and creasing your cheek with his thumb while doing something as simple as using his phone.
But when you are in public he wants to touch you one way or another but he's not much of a fan of PDA so he will at some point convince you that YOU are the one who wants to cling to his arm all the time and act as if it is his kindness to let you do that.
Since we are talking about PDA he is not a big fan UNTIL and UNLESS there is someone around who is or will try to make a move on you. He'll pull you in a hug from behind and will kiss your neck WHILE making eye contact with the other person. Ya, he can be possessive when it comes to you. Because he might not admit it but he loves you too much *heart eyes*
He might say that he doesn't want you at the matches. So you try to sneak in and get a back-row seat or something and keep it lowkey but one glance and he knows that it's you. He can't help but feel a lot calmer and happier seeing that you care enough to go to this extent just to see him play. But expect a lecture afterward or a corny joke. I mean... it's Tsukki we're talking about.
You both live in entirely different directions from school but he walks you home every day since there is a neighborhood that you have to cross which is not that safe. And if he can't make it because of practice he drops you off at the bus stand to make sure that you get home safely.
You are someone who is a people pleaser and just can't say no if someone is asking for a favor and sometimes people tend to take advantage of that. At first, he thought you were a complete idiot but when he picked up the tricks that the other use sometimes to get their work done? He is your human wall.
He will either hide you between the wall and his tall body or he'll just piss off the other person with a sarcastic comment to avoid them disturbing you ever again. As much as you hate not helping them, it is a huge relief, and over time you realized you were spending way too much time helping others.

Kakashi with a breeding kink where he filling His s/o if a tiny drop slips out he’d do it again
Kakashi X Reader | Breeding kink

Masterlist
Warning: Smut, 18+
You were teasing him since morning. You wore his favorite skirt today and his favorite panties, oh and how does he know? Because you bent over to pick something up right in front of him during a meeting full of Jonin. You two were in the back so no one else could have seen that except for him.
"Y/N what was th-" before he could finish his sentence after the meeting, you ran up to Tsunade to talk about something and signaled him to wait. You did the same in the training area. Again.
He knew what you were doing, he was just patient enough to see you getting worked up before he does. By the end of the day you were longing for him too but before you could leave your office, some work came up and you had to stay back. Kakashi went home early that day after saying, "I have a few things to look after" never leaving eye contact with you WHILE he was talking to Gai. It was your signal that enough is enough.
But you were stuck with work and this time it was genuine. You got free as soon as possible and went back home.
By now you were so tired that you almost forgot about the entire day. As you rested your stuff on the table in your bedroom strong hands pulled you and threw you to the wall, you already knew who it was. It was him, only in his sweats without the mask on.
Kakashi said with one hand strangling both of your hand over your head and the other one holding your sides tightly, "What was that? If you were gonna do that to me the entire day, at least give me some reward for my patience huh" in a very low and heavy voice, which he used when he is way too worked up.
"I got stu-" you tried to explain but he cut you off "Na-ah you wanted to be a tease right? Well, karma is a bitch darling," he said snarling the last word and turned you around with your hands still strangled.
He lifted your skirt and spanked you hard, "You know what you get for doing that to me right?" he said in your ear in the same low heavy voice. It was sending shivers down your body and before you could know what was happening he ripped your panties leaving you with just the skirt on. You gasped but didn't resist because you kinda love the hard dom Kakashi.
He pointed one of his fingers to your mouth, "Lick It" and you obliged. If you were facing him, you could have seen the pleasure and joy in his eyes as you were licking his fingers. Before you could think what he was doing he pushes the two fingers to your already wet hole. You moaned hard in pleasure. He started pumping them to the rhythm that he very well knows what you like and increased the speed, but by the time you were about to cum he stopped and left your hands too. You were a sweaty mess with trembling legs begging him to finish you.
He sat on the edge of the bed as if it was nothing while you begged him to finish you, he just smirked in return. But when he heard the word "please daddy" leave your mouth, he may not admit it but he was turned on as fuck!
He took you by your neck and aligned your face right in front of his, "But on one condition, you have to take every single drop in and IF even a single drop comes out of that pretty hole of yours, we're doing it again, got it?" You nodded frantically and sat on top of him.
Honestly, the way he moaned as he entered you was your signal that he wasn't as tough as he was showing, he wanted this too. But when he started thrusting, all the thought left you and all you could do was to make sure that you agree to what he said earlier because he has no mercy when it comes to overstimulation.
After a few hard and fast pumps he was about to cum, "Tighten it or else we are doing it again." You knew better so you agreed.
As he came he lays back in bed because it was too much for him too, it's been an entire day that he's been hard rock down there. You lay on top of him to calm down a bit.
He turned you over and got on top, "You think I missed it? Look at that mess. You failed, now don't blame me for what's about to come." and he started thrusting again.
He lasted 3 fucking more rounds before you completed his condition and he let you go.
Lesson learned: If you are going to tease him again, don't do it.

As for your celebration, what about the alphabet for Kakashi? 🥰
Kakashi X Reader | A-Z Headcanon

A-Z Headcanon
Warning: 18+ Content
A = Aftercare (What they’re like after sex)
Once you two are done and tired, he's gonna take a moment and then turn over to you to smile and adore how flushed you look. He usually kisses your forehead and then pulls you into his chest. Once you two are all calmed down. "You want to hop in the shower baby?" Still running his one hand through your hair. If you say you want to rest a bit more, he gets up to get you water and towels, or if you say yes then expect a "Round 2?" joke on your way, which wasn't actually a joke.
B = Body part (Their favorite body part of their partner’s)
Your thighs! Doesn't matter if you have thick thighs or not he likes to grab them while you're on top or you two are just chilling and he is running his hand through them and they slip certain places "by accident"
In a non-sexual way, it is your hair, for sure. He likes to bury his face in them because the scent of the fresh shampoo is relaxing to him. If you change your shampoo he'll notice it right away, expect a new bottle of the same shampoo on the shelf next to your new one the next day.
C = Cuddling
Cuddling with this man is a dream! He likes to be all over you with one leg over yours and your face buried in his chest. Even if you are being the small spoon, his one leg will be over you and your head resting on one of his arm and his other arm over your shoulder pulling you closer to his chest.
Whenever you two are on a nap date, his hand is always resting on you. He becomes restless when he can't find you but calms down after finding you on the other side of the bed. Then just keeps his palm on you rather than pulling you in and waking you up.
D = Dirty Secret
This one time, you two had an idea of taking some nudes together just for fun to see whose turns out to be the better one. You both set a rule to get rid of them after the winner was announced, which never happened since you two were so turned on in the process that you two ended up doing it. You forgot it but he still has your photo with him. Shut up, it helps him on long missions.
E = Experience
He was not a virgin, but he wasn't much experienced either. If you want to know more about this scenario find it here.
In starting he kept things vanilla, he didn't want to freak you out. But you wanted more but that was the case with you too so this one time you stole his Itcha Itcha to read what type of stuff he was into. AND YOU ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT. You had to read it as fast as you can because he'd notice that it was missing.
And when you suggested something, it was a shock to him because he knows exactly how to do it but to ACTUALLY experience it and that too with YOU? The guy was in actual heaven that day.
F = Favourite Position
It depends, he is a tease so he likes when you do all the work but just wait till he has your image of having one leg over his shoulder while he's pounding into you and you're all flustered, aaaaand the guy is pinning you down and going at it.
Or if he is IN THE MOOD he's gonna start with you on all fours and will end up having you burring your face in the pillow.
G = Goofy
Hehe he is the best type of goofy. He says the jokes with a straight face while everyone is on the floor dying. He only lets out a small laugh when you are laughing your "so-called ugly laugh" in front of others too.
But sometimes he starts laughing even before cracking the joke because it was that funny, "Oh boy, naah it's nothing" he says wiping a tear, off his one eye. You all will beg him but according to him "the moment is gone" lol he IS a tease.
H = Hair
His hair is sooooo fluffy! And after how little he looks after them? It is almost a joke on you. You take care of your hair a lot but this guy probably washes it with body wash and still has such good quality. He always says that it is a good diet to trick you into healthy eating too. This guy never misses a chance to do that.
I = Intimacy
Your emotional intimacy is something that is beyond this world. You both never knew that you were capable of feeling emotions so strongly.  You're hurt? He feels this burning feeling in his heart that he can't get rid of. He is having a nightmare? It breaks your heart that you cannot do anything about what he had to go through.

Hi! Can u do hcs for todoroki and bakugou having feelings for the same girl? would they fight over her? or maybe try to mess with eachother?
Tumblr media
Todoroki X Bakugou X Reader | They both like you
Tumblr media
Masterlist
This was honestly a nightmare, to the entire UA.
You were in 1B that is the only reason this was the headache of the entire school because they'd have a loud fight, conversations, or show-off sessions in the corridors since you had a different class than both of them.
You were so naive, you didn't realize what it was until the very end. For god's sake, you thought they were best friends or something.
It started being very subtle. They hanging around in front of your classroom whenever they can. Mina and Uraraka started being friends with you. Mina was gathering information for Bakugou and Uraraka for Todoroki.
Even they didn't found out about each other when until you all were in the main hall and principal announced about the annual school prom and they both looked directly at you, then at each other and they both went into shock for next 5 mins. But the next conversation that they had was mostly about how the other one is a better match for you.
During some activities that involved 1A and 1B working together, they tried their best to match with you for the team but Aizawa knew better than that so he always either paired you with Izuku or Denki.
Which pissed them off either way because for Katsuki, Deku is already a sensitive topic and Denki flirts way more with you than Todoroki's liking.
But it all came down one day when they had an actual argument over you that turned into a fight. You knew what it was about and you ended up shouting at them. They went silent, drop-dead silent, and headed their own ways.
They later apologized to you for what they did because obviously, you're not a trophy that they can win right? But they acted like it and it wasn't nice on their part.

Can I ask for how the mercs cuddle/hug/kiss Their S/O?
some F L U F F to cure the sad
E ( Scout)
Hug: will hug and spin you around or at least try to( give him some break hes like the only merc who actually does the leg day)
Cuddle: i really like the idea of him having ADHD, so expect random messy cuddles. He cant stay still so he will try to keep his hands busy by rubbing patterns on your skin or trying ( failing big time ) to braid your hair
Kiss- tries to french kiss ( he basically tries to eat your face) , rapid fire pepper kissing your face is the regular
Soldier
hugs- bonecrushing bear hugs that secure your inner being. Will lift and swing you around in a impromptu dance
Cuddles- on the rare occasions he is in the mood for some fluff ™ he will hold you on the couch front of the tv while watching old tv sitcoms reruns
Kiss- a strong hard smootch like the american lover he is
Pyro
Hugs- somewhat awkward with the suit if its hot but they are surprisingly warm, like toasty warm
Cuddles- soft cuddles under the roof of their pillowfort are your bedtime routine
Kiss- at the start of the relationship i doubt they'll give you more than random mask smooches, maybe after some time they will remove their mask and give you a proper smooch
Engie
Hug-awkward dad hugs that are surprisingly comforting
Cuddle- i cant really picture him as a big cuddler, but the few times you cuddle he will wrap you up like a burrito and let you just rest on his chest. 10/10 gives very noice backrubs
Kiss- soft smootches at random times and forehead kisses because he wants to feel taller than he is
Demo
Hug- teddybear energy hugs, will try to tickle you with his beard
Cuddle- drunk messy cuddles, just hold him and pet his hair and this boy will melt and adore you for life. Big little spoon energy, even if you are wayy shorter than him( my man loves his lil jetpack)
Kiss- surprisingly a good kisser although a bit sloppy at times, maybe neck kisses if you cuddle
Heavy
Hugs- he is hot as an oven and big enough to swallow you whole in his hug.10/10 bear hug would recommend
Cuddle- again not another big cuddle ( jee) but trick him into believing you are cold and this boy will become your personal heated blanket with a lulling strong heartbeat
Kiss- very rare will kiss you on the mouth, in a fashion simmilar to soldier but gentlier but expect lots of forehead kisses from this guy and i mean LOTS
Meem( medic)
Hug- not big on personal contact, but he gives pretty noice hugs and its pretty comfortable to hug
Cuddle- extremely rare, but he knows how to give the most amazing backrubs you can imagine. Will probably tho pass out from exhaustion so please just let him sleep for once on someone he adores ( not a cheap ikea chair)
Kiss- he knows how to kiss, lemme tell you that. Forehead and cheek kisses when he is busy ( a good 95% of his time)
Snipah
Hugs- he is a spider of a man and he knows it but he is pretty comforting to be hugged, his shoulders are quite broad and he has a natural musk that will calm you down from whatever plagues you
Cuddle- big koala energy, he craves human touch a notch more than the rest of the team. He will lace his hands with yours while he spoons you. 10/10 soft shoulder and neck kisses and compliments
Kiss- awkward amateur kisses, but he smiles into the kiss so please give him some private lessons and hell become your best student
* snort* ( spy)
Hug- bony and uncomfortable, this boy doesnt know how to hug. He is severely touch starved but he avoids all non sexual human contact like the plague
Cuddle- little spoon energy, he needs someone to hold and rub his back for once in his life. He will die a happy man if he wakes up with the love of his life ( y/n) holding him tight and feeling the vibration of your heart on his back
Kiss- french kissing all the way once you gain his trust, he doesn't kiss, he makes love with his mouth

Manhattan’s Finest
Tumblr media
First Part
[Dr. Manhattan x Black Reader]
Word Count: 2.4K
The crowd erupts after the final song from the play ‘It’s a Bird! It’s a Plane!  It’s Dr. Manhattan!’  Whistles and cheers fill the auditorium as the performers take a bow, receiving gifts from loved ones in the audience.
You cheer along with them all, having enjoyed the play more than you expected to.  A friend of yours was supposed to come along but flaked out at the last minute.  It’s fine, at $95 a ticket, you would’ve loved to have used their ticket on dinner instead but life is shit.
You wait for the auditorium to clear out before you get going yourself.  It is much better not walking over people and pushing into each other as much as possible.  When you make it outside, the muggy air makes you instantly miss the air conditioning inside the theater.  Another $95 for a cool breeze would be worth it.
“(y/n)”
You look to your left seeing a man in a suit with a blue mask.  His skin is also tinted blue, somewhere between winterfresh gum and blue raspberry jolly ranchers.
“Hi?  Oh, are you one of the performers?!”  you ask excitedly, running up to him, but being taken aback by how tall he is.  “You were awesome up there.  There were a couple Manhattans but were you the one that sang ‘Blue is the Blood that Runs Cold’?  Because man, I have never heard a vibrato like that.  It was very impressive.”
“I am not a performer in this production,”  he says flatly.
You cock your head to the side, observing his manner.  “But...then why all the blue?  And did I introduce myself, because I don’t remember telling you.”
“You do, later on in the evening.”
You blink a couple times.  “I’m going home to bed after your play.  How could I be talking to you?”
“As I said, I am not a performer or member of staff on this production.  And I am sorry that you cannot afford the dinner with your unrequited love tonight who is making love to his superior right now, but in time it will-”
“Whoa, what the hell did you just say?  His boss?  And what do you mean?  I don’t love him!”
Unshifting, he continues, “I believe love can exist even in one sided instances.  I am finding myself in that position right now by the end of the week.”
You take a step towards him and then to the side, watching him follow your movement.  “Ok, I just had to make sure you have eyes under there.  You’re stiff as hell.”
He gives a small chuckle that makes you laugh nervously.  “Heh, what’s funny?”
“That is what you say to me when we take the train back to your place.  You enjoy public displays of affection, both innocent and explicit.”
You groan with disgust.  “I haven’t done shit like that a day in my life.  How dare you!”
“You do not, because of fear and weak men.  You’ve gone all your life thus far picking unattainable partners because you do not see yourself worthy of the ones that truly excite you.”
You cross your arms, growing all the more impatient.  “Who are you?”
“I am Dr. Manhattan.”
“PFFFFF!  HAHAHA!”  You laugh out loud, causing passersby to stare.  “You are too much!”
He scoffs, making you question him again.  “If I tell you, you will become physical.”
“Try me, nothing is wilder than saying you are Dr. Manhattan.”
“That phrase you said ‘you are too much’, is something you say during the heat of passion as I penetrate you in the foyer of your home.”
Hearing this makes your blood boil, feeling disrespected is something you refuse to tolerate.  You push your hands against his chest hard; he barely flinches, instead lowering his head.
“You’re a perverted bastard is what you are!  Take that fucking mask off coward, so I know whose ass I’m finna beat.”
“I cannot remove my mask.  It would draw too much attention.”
“HA!  But telling a random woman that she’s gonna be stroking your dick by midnight isn’t attention seeking?”
“11:38 pm.”
“What?”  you ask exasperatedly.
“11:38 pm, not midnight.  It is 10:15 now, with a 20 minute walk to the station and another 20 minute wait after just missing your train added to your travel time, it will be 11:38 pm.”
“I AM DONE HERE!  Have a shitty night!”  You walk away, looking back just once.  “And no one really likes Dr. Manhattan except for his huge dick which I am sure you are lacking!” Your heels clack down the sidewalk furiously with the snap of your heel.  Steam practically rises off of your body as you think back to the imbecile who couldn’t keep it in his pants.  You come up to an intersection and check your phone, which sparks the thought of how he knew about your name and your date bailing and if there was any truth to why he stood you up.
“Is it better for you that I prove myself to be Dr. Manhattan?”
You jump a little too close to the curb, steadying yourself on a nearby pole.  “You aren’t him, just shut up about it.”
“But you are curious, aren’t you?”
You look blankly at the road, running over what he said to you before  again.  “What’s his name?”
“Whose?”
You roll your eyes.  “If you are Dr. Manhattan, you would know who I am talking about.”
“I do, I just...need to hear you ask it,” he says.
The cross signal goes on and you begin to strut across.  “Oh, is there going to be a rip in the space time continuum if I don’t do things exactly as you predict?”
“They are not predictions but current events.  This is already the past.”
You look back at him walking next to you and it unnerves you how he is able to keep up with your hurried stride like a swan on water.  He doesn’t sound anxious or out of breath and his body has no bounce even when he steps.
You stop in a quiet part of the street, taking out your phone to turn on the flashlight, beaming it in his face.  “What is my date’s name?”
“Crawford.  You like that name very much, like Redford or Ashford.”
You pause for a second in silence.  “What does he do for a living?”
“Marketing, not unlike yourself.  He is up for a promotion but his relationship with his superior is making him feel insecure about his worthiness of moving up in his company however he is in love with her.”
Your heart caves in a little at the word love.  You didn’t think an office fling would come to that, so soon.
“He shared many things with you, vulnerably.  They were truthful, so you should not regret those moments.  However, opening yourself up to him has only led to your heartbreak sooner.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”  you ask softly, feeling tears swell up in your eyes.
He takes a beat before continuing.  “You took his vulnerability as a sign of trust and therefore evidence that he loves you but because of his strife, you thought it would take time.  However, he was only using you for his own gain.  You gave him advice that you thought would make him see you as the object of his affection but it instead pushed him further into her arms.”
You scoff, making a tear jump down your cheek.  You turn the phone light off, trying your best to hide your emotion.  “I still don’t believe you.”
You pull up your friend’s phone number and dial him.  The trill of the call ringing in your ear is painful, so you hang up and text him.
“That will be regrettable tomorrow.”
“Yeah I know.  Dr. Manhattan doesn’t have to tell me that for it to be true.”  You walk down the street at a slower pace, allowing him to walk next to you without resistance.
“Ok.  Manhattan, huh?  I’m (y/n).”
“I know,” he says lightly.
“Of course you do.  So even though you aren’t from the play, you do know what the play is about right?  They didn’t say anything original that everybody doesn’t already think.”
“I find people’s fixation on my purpose to be distracting.  When the world has developed exponentially over the decades and yet resists change in its most basic forms should be infuriating enough to not dwell on me.”
You tweak your mouth, impressed by his analysis.  “I can’t fault you for that.  But a blue guy from space with powers is an interesting subject.  And you’re usually taller right?”
“I don’t need the attention from that,” he says.
“But blue skin isn’t distracting?”  you quip.
“I don’t choose forms on a whim.  There has to be purpose.”
“So what purpose do you have here with me?  Or am I a stepping stone to somewhere else, because that is a popular feature of mine,” you say deflated.
“You are a beacon of positive energy, which is attractive to most.  But not everyone deserves it.”
“So you are going to mentor me?”
“I am going to love you, and you will love me.  In time.”
You throw your hands in the air in frustration.  “How can you when you don’t know me!”
“But I do,”  he says, stopping at the entrance of the train station, to open the door for you.
“Fine.  Dog’s name.”
“Shrek.”
“Favorite movie?”
“The Color Purple.”
“Third grade teacher’s name?”
“Mr. Rideau, and I believe you had a crush on him.”
“NO!  I did not!”  You walk past him in a huff, completely embarrassed that he outed your interest in your teacher in public like that.  You trot down the stairs, expecting your train to arrive in a minute but instead you see that very train pulling off as your hop off the last step.
“Dammit!”  You collect your composure and plop down on a bench to await the next arrival.  Dr. Manhattan slinks next to you.
You check him out in your peripheral, looking behind your shoulder.  “You should really not be blue waiting on the train.  No one here knows about the show so you stick out like a sore thumb.”
Dr. Manhattan looks slowly at his hands, before turning to you.  “I could change, if you like.”
You sigh.  “If I had a dollar for every man who told me that.”  Looking straight into the black holes of his mask is unnerving to you, feeling a chill run down your spine makes you shiver.
“It’s probably for the best, because this is freaking me out.”
“What would you like for me to look like?”
You shrug.  “I can just build you piece by piece?”
He nods.  “Essentially.”
You look Manhattan up and down in a complete loss.  “I don’t have time for details.  When I think of a man I just want them tall, big pockets and a bigger dick.”  This sparks a thought in your mind, making you slide slightly closer to him.  “Ok, I know you not about that musical or rumors, but is it true about…”  You point toward his lap inconspicuously.
“That I am well endowed?  Ah well, those measures are up to the individual.  You may see for yourself if you like.”
Your body rears back in surprise.  “That’s probably what you were looking for this whole time!  You’re ridiculous.”
Dr. Manhattan sits unphased.  “I won’t force you to, but I know you will.  I mentioned it before.  I know this is a fantasy of yours, despite my person being involved.”
“So I can just rub on your dick and it means nothing for you?  That’s almost disappointing...but this night has already been wild, so feeling up a stranger ain’t far off.”  You look around the practically empty station, taking your hand slowly up his thigh until you felt something solid and girthy.
“You’re stiff as hell!”  you exclaim, quickly taking your hand back.
“It is a normal state in which I remain in this form.”
“And it’s blue just like you huh?”
“Correct.”
You shake your head.  “I don’t think I have it in me to look, so I’ll take your word for it.”
An announcement comes on saying your train is arriving soon.  You check your phone; it’s 10:54pm.
“Listen.  There’s no way I can sit with you blue on this damn train.  So what do you do, hocus pocus into a Black man?”
“It helps to have a reference in mind,” he says.
“You think for a beat before taking out your phone and looking through Instagram.  “If I show you a picture, will that do?”
“Of course.  I can emulate imagery.”
You look through your feed as quick as you can pulling up the profile, and your favorite picture.
“Him.   Can you change into him?”
His face leans into your phone for a moment.  In the time it takes for you to blink, a blue light flashes and before you is the man from your feed.  The rush of air from the train kicks particles in your eyes, and you rub them for relief and proof that this isn’t a dream.  But in front of you is the likeness.
“This is dangerous,” you say, trying to pick your jaw off the ground.  He looks around and at his hands, adjusts his suit, then looks at you.
“Is this better?”
You hold your mouth gasping.  “You even sound like him!  A little stiffer, but very much like him,”
His complexion in person is just as clear as his photos with deep brown hue that has nary a blemish.  Strong jaw cloaked in a close trimmed beard that frames the exterior of his wide, chunky lips.  He blinks at you with a gaze of innocence and naivete.
You remember to breathe and answer, “Yes.  It’s much much better.”  The ding of the train alerting its departure snaps you back to reality, grabbing his hand to make it through the closing doors just in time.
You find two empty seats in the back, sitting next to the window.  You sit next to him nervously, playing with your hands as the train rumbles down the tracks.  You look out over the city passing you both and catch his reflection in the window staring at you.  His eyes look happy.
“What?”  you ask quietly, looking back at him.
