And here is my finished "Palace of Medusa" based on the artwork of the same name by @patrickjjonesillustrator sculpted by the team @mindwork.studio I fell in love with this as soon as I saw it! Painting this was quite possibly the most work I have ever done on a piece, with numerous layers going into each element and glazing to try to get as much depth as I could without making it look overdone. I loved the original and wanted to show it while amplifying the colour so it could be seen at its smaller scale, which proved to be quite challenging! I really hope you enjoy this piece as much as I do and I also hope that it might get some sort of achievement at the @qld_model_hobbies_expo in August, so if you are in the Brisbane area and are attending the event you can see this amazing piece as well as some of my other works in person! Just found this great IG and am loving his tips & tutorials 🤩 @maverickspaint Go, check him out! 🤘🏼 "My goal for this page is 1. Learn a variety of techniques. 2. Simplify them. 3. Share them with you. Nmm was intimidating and believe me... I have no illusions of how much better some artists can do it HOWEVER.. I think this is a fabulous starting point. So let's get to it! 1. First you need to decided where your highlights will go. Over time you will get better at this but for now, consider just following a common zenithal pattern. (Basically the parts closest to the sky will be brightest.) Don't stress about being perfect.. so many top artists explain they put highlights where they are because it looks good. Not because of physics. 2. Prime black then base coat anthracite grey 3. Create your first highlight area with graphite. Don't be afraid to make these large. 4. Create your first shadow using black 5. Using several layers of glazing with our base color, blend the transitions. 6. Silver grey highlight inside of our graphite but a smaller area 7. Pure white highlight inside of silver grey and even smaller! Keep blending them as you go. 8. Edge highlight EVERYTHING with pure white. Then, using silver grey and a fine brush, create small scratch marks randomly. Clean up any mistakes. And boom! The next piece from a commission set for the team over at @dm.stash! Here is Gwynevel from the "Guardians of the Fey" Bundle, This one has a lot of elements that you have to bring together for it to work, there are vines everywhere! But they can't just be green or it would overcrowd it and not too much brown because it would be too flat, I also wanted to do the batches of flowers different colours to encompass the 'whole of nature' I think so far this one is my favourite! What do you think? My girlfriend asked me to do diorama for her jumping spider, why not "Chellenge Accepted", especially i haven't done diorama before. Last picture shows the shorted process of creating this diorama. I used slice of wood as a base, cork to make rocks and styrofoam for the same purpose but it was a mistake... I learned that styro melts a bit when you prime. Otherwise I'm satisfied of my first diorama.
