I am new to writing fanfic and I am so glad I write for BG3, because I can follow the story of the game and weave in my scenes and leave out why I don’t need.

For my own work/ the book I have been thinking about writing for years this is what I struggle with intensely! Like I have some great ideas and plot beats and scenes that will make you feel things… but overall arcs? And the setting around it?

In my recent game I came across some dialogue from Gale I've not seen before, despite this being my 500000000th romance with this man. So we meet Lorroakan for the first time and convince him that Aylin is dead. Speaking to Gale, I think, ok, he's going to be like "hey what a shit wizard" or "what an arrogant little twat" because we've already seen his rubbish projections and it's Lorroakan, come on. Then Gale says this:

Yes, he falls short of - wait. What? Gale is roasting Lorroakan not for his magical skills. He is incensed by his inability to use multiple sources to verify information.

This absolute nerd is more pissed about having too few citations than the fact that Lorroakan is an amoral little jerk that wants to torturously leech off of an aasimar's soul for his own immortality.

Something that has been rattling around my brain regarding God!Gale is the contrast between Prof/Human w/Orb Gale's line about the orb feeling satisfied and content.

By taking Ambition as his domain Gale has guaranteed he will never be satisfied. Ambition is never content, there is always something to be gained, some deficiency to cure. I consider it a mirror of insecurity in this way.

He has bound himself to a life where he will be as hungry as the Orb forever.

Not the bad ending, but the sad one.

Dark Urge failing to resist her evil father is probably the saddest ending to me, because she did everything she was supposed to do, but ending up in his grasp anyway. I think Gale would try to save her, but even he can’t tread on the Blood Lords territory.
