Thinking about slightly toxic BigKim, in which both of them are horrendously lonely and start finding comfort in each other, and maybe even some physical intimacy (non sexual and/or sexual contact). It’s obviously not healthy because Big still loves Kinn, but being with Kim, fighting him and fucking him, blunts some of that pain. It’s helpful for Kim too, having someone to boss around because these drug trafficking missions and constant rejections from record labels are getting so annoying, and it’s fun to pick on someone bigger than him, who won’t really injure him, but can absolutely hurt him. It’s totally brutal. Split lips and scratches up Big’s back that sting when he has to work out a few hours later. Kim is sore all the time. He likes it because it reminds him he’s a real person and not some machine.

And maybe they’re about to reach some headway, emotionally, but then canon starts, and Kim hangs out with Porchay. 

At first, that means Kim has little to no time for Big. Which Big expected. He endures like he does for Kinn and besides, Kim was just temporary comfort. It’s not like it was a functional relationship. It worked. But it wasn’t functional. It gave Big a purpose larger than this goddamn mafia. But it was never functional.

But then Kim’s lies towards Porchay get bigger and more heinous. And guilt starts plaguing him because he’s 22 and stupid. He thought he had it all figured out. But he never did, and he goes back to Big and finds comfort in their sparring and their fucking. Kim doesn’t have to explain his failures to Big. and Big? Big just lets himself be used (interpret that however you like.)

More canon happens and Kim loses Big. His fault really. Of course Big would have followed him into the warehouse. Orders were that all guards go to the warehouse. There was never a choice. Dragging Porchay out, Kim hears gunshots and Big’s confession. A gut wrenching feeling that even at this moment, Big was thinking of Kinn. Kim’s irrationally jealous. Kim tells himself to rag on Big later, to use that bit as a pressure point the next time they spar and fuck.

Next time doesn’t come. Big is dead. Kim spirals.

More canon happens. Kim shoves Porchay away, the siege at the Compound happens, then everything settles. But not for Kim. Kim spends weeks in his room waiting for Porchay to respond to his video. While doing so, he pulls up the recording of Big’s confession; Arm said it’s fucked up to have it but Kim’s a fucked up person. When Arm isn’t looking, he deletes the recording so Kinn never gets to hear Big’s confession. It’s only his now. Porsche can repeat it all he wants to Kinn, but Kim has it all to himself. He listens to it every day.

With Big’s words looping in his ears, with Porchay refusing to answer him, Kim realizes that he is hopelessly alone.

What made you ship it?

The short answer, is that theres something fundamentally wrong with my brain. I see Kim being mean and dismissive to Big and immediately open up a google doc. ..... also Nodt and Jeff hot. The long answer is that I dont ship it like a normal ship. It's less romantic sailboat getaway and more doomed sinking liferaft between two touch starved, deeply desperately individuals both hopelessly pining for other people (Chay and Kinn respectively) that they believe they're not "good" enough to have or keep or truly be seen or wanted by. It's the potential for character study. I love them. The shortest answer is of course: I'm right.

2. What are your favorite things about the ship?

It's just......... so delightfully fucked up. Theres something very honest about it in that neither of them are pretending that the *thing* between them is love or romance or anything more than just sex. But also something competely dishonest about the fact that it's just sex, because it almost cant be. They both have this shared trauma all tangled around Kinn, both of them grew up alongside him, both are at the sidelines, desperately trying to keep Kinn safe because they love him in their very different ways. Both of them are desperately lonely and carrying the world on their shoulders. The dynamic almost skip past friendship and romance and love directly to a kind of deeply cutting honesty. Theres just something really compelling about it.

3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

I feel like this ship is so niche and unpopular that it's impossible to have any kind of controversial opinion on it.

I think my actual most unpopular opinion of late is that I have no idea how to complete the 2 KimBig wips I have. (help! lol)
