Today we are doing to learn a new unconventional shoulder exercise called as #bradford #press Begin by un-racking a barbell much like you would during a military press. Press the barbell so that it's a couple inches over your head. At this point, lower the barbell behind your head. It should now resemble a behind the neck press. Press back up so that the bar is a couple inches over your head and bring the bar back to the front military press position. This would constitute one rep. By not locking out the weight, you're putting the stress on your shoulders and keeping it off your triceps. This is best used for high reps (8-15). You can perform these seated or standing, and usually a medium or wide grip is used. (Note: This is sometimes called a Rainbow Press.) REST BETWEEN SETS Everyone has a time they wait before they do the next set. Lets say 30sec, 45sec etc. Many dont realize the importance of the rest. Let me break it up for you... The muscles and nerves recover much faster than you think. For example do a set of dumbell curls to failure ... Drop the dumbell down and pick it up in 2 seconds ... you would be able to do few reps... So much recovery in no time.... Instea of telling my clients a time gap, i teach them the logic.. Wait for your breathing to return to normal and you are ready for the next set, this will ensure optimal performance... This may be suitable to all fitness enthusiasts and bodybuilders. Its not the size of the car but the size of the arm that hands down the the window of the car that counts. After my last contest in year 2017 I really lost focus on maintaining huge arms and was focussing on overall fitness. Sometimes the human brain is like a monkey and my mind started pondering around my previous best. Challenges makes life interesting. So I thought why not challenge myself to break my best arm size again. 2017 may, my biceps measured 20 inches. March 1st 2019 they measured 18 inches… Yes 2 inches less. Ever since I decided to get back on the guns game, I have been training my arms every other day.. anyone who is gonna jump on the wagon and say that I am overtraining, you know what, heard enough of it. On my previous quest towards bigger arms, I trained them every day and gained over an inch,,, So lets leave it with the fact that I know what I am doing with my body. Today 26 march 2019 they measure 19 inches.. (how did I gain that, its majorly because of my muscle memory.. no rocket science) Goal is to reach 20 my April end and gain at least half inch extra by may.. Every Rep is a Set, Every set is a rep... I know, this sounds a little weird. But it can make a big difference in your results. The only thing you should be focusing on is the rep you are currently performing. Nothing else matters. Don't worry about how many reps you need to do in that set, or how many sets or exercises you have left. Don't pace yourself to get through the workout. That one-rep is all that matters. Many sports trainers and experts suggest athletes to live in the current moment. Because thinking beyond the current moment diverts your concentration away from the moment you are living in. For example you are benching 200lbs. If you concentrate on the muscle contraction and stretch on the top and bottom of the movement, You will really feel the muscle working and you can be sure that you have induced growth in chest, but if you concentrate on doing 10 reps with 200 lbs, then you tend to concentrate on the count and cheat yourself unknowingly from the complete stretch and contraction of the movement. So you end up with inducing lesser growth impulse on your muscle. So as I always say, “Quality is the name of the game, not quantity”. Have started hitting hard on the basics again and getting my numbers higher. I need to work on my numbers at least to my previous best. You all saw the last video where we went upto 210 kgs, this week it was 220 kgs. In this industry of lifting , may it be bodybuilding or powerlifting, people compare themselves with others too often and worry about the speed of progress. But here is an important lesson that everyone should learn, If everyone was made same, then everyone would look like @philheath and @thorbjornsson . But it is not so. The law of individual differences exists, we all carry generations and generations of genetis which has adapted to something . For me strength was a gift but i chose to do bodybuilding and i had to go through a lot of struggle. But i enjoyed it. I never compared my results with others, but looked for constant progress in one direction or the other. So all you brothers and sisters of iron out there, work towards getting progress and give your best effort. dont compare yoruself with anyone else. You are unique, and you possess greatness. Everybody wants to be a bodybuilder, but nobody wants to lift heavy ass weight... We all know that machines are great way to isolate and activate the target muscle and very safe. But the youth of today are obsessed with the variety of machines that they forget the #basics . Free weights seem simple but they not only stimulate the target muscle but also activate and stabilize a lot of muscle groups in a single move. If you see the video, I am performing dumbell presses for shoulders , The primary load bearing muscles are my deltoids, chest and triceps are the secondary muscles takimg the load . The traps , lats and rhomboids stabilize the movement of deltoids and the core needs to be tight to hold the vertical position of the spine ... And almost all the tiny muscles of the upper body works in coordination to enable the press... Compound movements like this helps the individual gain strength and overall balance in the physique..
