Anatomy of a Scene In Which Oh Aew Puts Teh Through It, or how to catch a man who is already falling

Oh Aew provokes and observes; Teh tries his best to remain upright and breathing.

Another sequence of scenes I think it’s worth it to watch without understanding what they’re saying, mostly because what they're saying has nothing to do with what any of these scenes are actually about. The script here is largely minutiae; what's important is Oh Aew testing the waters before diving in headfirst later on.

I love every episode of ITSAY and IPYTM, and LTIP in different ways, because they each give me something different in mood and tone. And when I'm in the mood for a SERVE, I go straight to ITSAY episode 3, because Oh Aew being bold, brave and deliberately provocative is simply breathtaking to behold.

The context here is that Teh has already showed his hand. He has been at turns jealous, fascinated, sulky, sweet, pouty and attentive, and he has been OBVIOUS about all of it. Oh Aew has definitely noticed that Teh has noticed him. He texted him to get home safe. He manoeuvred to sit next to him on the boat. He's giving Oh Aew all the signals that he is interested.

At the start of the sequence, Teh has his leg plastered right against Oh Aew's, a tell that Teh himself brought to Oh Aew's attention. And then Teh takes Tarn's call and starts, as we say where I'm from, 'making love on the phone', right in front of him and with his leg STILL up against his, and Oh Aew decides he's choosing violence...lol. You can see the look in his eye, which is saying something like Oh, so you're going to try to pretend this isn't happening? Well I'm going to show you exactly how deep in the bullshit you are.

And boy does he ever. It's all in the eyes, the way Oh Aew challenges, cajoles and straight up seduces Teh over the course of the sequence. He alternates between distracted, casual attention, putting himself directly in Teh's eye line (especially while flirting with Bas), and flat out ignoring Teh, sometimes all within the same scene. And then he crawls toward him and eats that chip out of his hand as the piece de resistance, the most blatantly obvious sexual advance in the story so far. His intention is clearly to show Teh that he can't pretend this thing between them isn't happening, or that it's innocent in some way. Teh likes him and he's hot for him and he's going to get him to admit that one way or another.

And Teh is just...spellbound. He's panicked. He's just trying to stay at a safe distance, take deep breaths, swallow instead of drooling and not think too much about what's happening here because if he thinks too much about it he might actually combust. Two scenes in the sequence really drive home what is happening:

Teh is alone in the living room unable to do anything but spin in his own thoughts and touch every soft furnishing in the damn room. Oh Aew re-enters the room, ignoring him, and he HAS to go over to him and try to play off how upset he is by teasing him. Oh Aew plays along instead of placating him, which upsets him even more.

Oh Aew, deliberately I think, sits at the back of the room in the mock exam, so nobody but Teh can see what he's doing. He stretches and fidgets because he knows Teh is watching him. When Teh goes over to him (because again, he can't help himself), he leans in whatever direction Teh is in, getting close but not too close.

Basically, Oh Aew gives Teh just a taste of what he's missing and Teh's tongue starts hanging out. And I have to give that all a standing ovation because well played sir. Also, a standing ovation to the actors because they lit this sequence on fire.

The scoring here is masterful, timed perfectly and done with a light touch. There's nothing too heavy or overbearing, the music itself has got a ton of fun, flirty energy using lots of lively piano and synth, but with a hint of something deeper underneath that turns almost chaotic and panicky when Teh is alone with his thoughts in the living room. They're giving you just enough to put you inside how they're feeling without words. Love it.

i was watching this interview they did today and the question was who's the sexier one? billkin says pp and pp responds in the most adorable way: idk... am i? lmao and when they talked abt ig photos hehe both videos were so fun to watch!

I'm terrible about watching any 'extra' content related to shows I'm into, but the few BKPP videos I've seen have made me want to fall down the rabbit hole. They play off of and troll each other/the interviewers/us like pros.

Pshh- the man is acting innocent when he KNOWS he has all the sauce and then some. We see you, sir- we see you...and it's literally all beauty.
