I watched Nimona and had about the exact experience I expected to have which is kinda surprising bc it was "mixed feelings bc it's probably gonna be an impressive visual spectacle and a very polished production that I'm nonetheless gonna like much less than the comic and won't find the actual writing very impressive even if I manage to not compare the two"

Decided to watch Heartstopper for a laff and boy my beloved hater peers weren't joking when they said this shit is so neutered. No one ever even mentions sex or drugs or makes dick jokes or gets kicked in the balls, fuck no one ever even curses. They don't even stay up past 9!

the problem with hbomberguy's review videos is that his conditioning process as a hyper-rationalist debunker has made it so that he's very gifted at defending a position when he understands there are actually people who will push back on it and who he is trying to convince, but the less of an interlocutor he has to argue against, the worst and lazier his arguments get. the New Vegas video is filled with mistruths about the game that never get acknowledged or justified bc he just expects people to accept it when he says the game is good. the Bloodborne video is straight up bad. i have never been able to finish it before because so much of it is him just describing a feature the game has and going "it's great", "it's genius", "it's objectively brilliant" with no actual justification for why anyone unfamiliar with the game would find it good. New Vegas at least seemed like he was trying to convince the people who hadn't heard of the game before, but in the Bloodborne video its so obvious he knows everyone already heard of the game and that its good and that he doesn't have to do anything to convince you which makes me wonder why he would make a video about it in the first place.

it wouldn't be that much of a bother if it was just a video of a guy talking about why he likes a game without even trying to come across as an argument for why you should like it too (it appears he later learned his lesson with Pathologic) but again, his hyper-rationalist objective big brained boy brain doesn't turn off when he's just talking about just a video game he likes so he continues to talk about his opinion as if it's both objective and universally correct, even in a video as bad as the Bloodborne video where, again, most of his "arguments" for why something in it is "objectively good" basically boil down to "look at this flashy footage, doesn't it look really cool? i'm gonna call it brilliant and assume you'll get carried away by my enthusiasm" but i'm sorry Harry, i'm way too familiar with your videos to fall for it and you'll have to do a little better!

tried to spitefully watch Atypical w lyv bc she mentioned it and said she couldn't watch past episode 2 and she warned me that "it's funny if you hate yourself" and i didnt understand what she meant at first but by god did that change quickly cuz i could not expect just how truly demeaning that shit is. we got like 11 minutes into it and it already made me hate myself like. either i'm not autistic - which is possible but weird cuz the subject in question simultaneously must be so much more autistic than me for me to not relate to a single one of his painfully overemphasized autism traits while also being functional enough to hold down a job, something i'm seemingly unable to do - or the show just is not made for autistic people to empathize with the autistic lead and you're actually just supposed to be one of them normals and laugh about how zany the lead is and how funny it is that he's a bumbling buffoon saying things that are obviously inappropriate and so watching it expecting to feel like you're supposed to be in the protagonist's shoes means that you just like. feel like shit? like it means that the show sits you down and says "see this guy? if you're like this everyone hates you and everything about you" like ok. thanks
