I find it strange that when a certain group of ppl are going through something ppl have to say: "What if that was your child/friend/family" just so ppl can feel empathy. Why is it so hard for ppl to feel empathy for others just because? They shouldn't have to be related to you in any way for you to care about them.

Please take a look at this from TikTok, it’s extremely important as our US government is doing all they can to attack more children in this country. We must do everything we can to protect all American children regardless of different backgrounds.
Update: May 2nd, 2023
Wanted to also link this petition here so everyone can help save the indigenous children in about 50 days before the overturning: (link is underneath the Tiktok video)
The States that codify ICWA into their State constitution so far is:
California
Oklahoma

New Mexico
Nebraska
Minnesota
Maine

I'm just not feeling 4th of July this year... again... Here's why.
can i be honest?… i don't celebrate july 4th, or at least not this year again either. maybe this is just a phase. i don't know much about politics, but i know that human rights are basic rights.
last year it was the entire abortion ban laws / roe vs. wade stuff going on that lead me to go out in the streets on hollywood, crossdressing in all black and baggy clothing ( if i was the man, then i'd be THE MAN ). this year i just came to realize that this said freedom of america wasn't reciprocated for black people which is extremely unfair, and slavery went on for decades. how can you celebrate freedom for america when people of color weren't included? could've sworn it was "all men created equal" but america back then thought not if you're not white
i recall even in 2021 i didn't feel included celebrating 4th of july either. i'm of mexican and ecuadorian descent 2nd gen and my mind sometimes flashes back to the trump era of racism towards my people.
i just needed to get this off my chest, i just keep hearing ppl talking about celebrating and fireworks and this all comes to mind everytime. wow, i should write a song cause that ryhmed-
please don't take offense to my thoughts/ opinion.

Please reblog or back this lovely children's book by a wonderful Chicana poet from Los Angeles!
Kickstarter closes ends on June 14th and she is only at 17%.
🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛
BUTTONZ FINDS HIS MOJO is a story about a black cat named Buttonz...
He is the only cat - among humans and dogs! - until one day he comes across two black kittens just like him in his family's backyard...
But when Buttonz's cat fam unexpectedly grows, even more, they seem to have all the fun in the world in the wild cat jungle of the backyard. Then, some strange feelings come up inside Buttonz's otherwise purrfect heart. Soon, his tail begins to sag, and, alas, he loses his appetite! Something's gone missing. Will Buttonz ever find his mojo again?
Why Mojo? Why now?
Kids have been struggling in a post-pandemic world in their key formative years. Mental health specialists have encouraged concerned adults to help our children name their feelings and find healthy ways to manage them during difficult times. BUTTONZ FINDS HIS MOJO was written to serve as an important reminder to children that even though not every day is ameowzing, we can still nurture our mojo and find new ways to build relationships and support networks with those in our community.
Kickstarter Goal
Our Kickstarter goal budget of $8,500 is designed to offset the cost of illustrating 100% of the book and carry us right into book production. Book production includes a professional layout, cover design, and ebook conversion. There are other costs associated with publishing and merchandise development (see rewards) that are covered within this goal.
You can help Oh My Gatos! Books unlock two more books in the series - Mama Mittens Magical Tails and Lady Lemons the Library Cat - when you help us reach our stretch goals. Check out the details down below to see how!
From the Author
Hi! My name is Brenda Vaca and BUTTONZ FINDS HIS MOJO is my first children's storybook. I am a writer who fell in love with stories - reading and writing them! - from a very young age. I published my first book, a poetry collection for grownups called Riot of Roses, last year in December 2021 with incredible support from the Kickstarter community. I'm back again this year because my first experience was so incredible, I wanted to do it all again. This is my family's first cat, Buttonz. He's the inspo behind this new children's book series.
About the Illustrator
Sucy Ananda, known professionally as "SucculentFleur," is an incredible artist and illustrator from Indonesia. Brenda was a big fan of SucculentFleur on Instagram so when it came time to find an illustrator, Sucy agreed to help! And we're so thrilled she did. Her bright artistry and imagination really capture the spirit of Buttonz and his family.
The Rest of the Team
Ana Karen is a fantastic stationery designer and producer. What can we say, she loves paper! And, of course, other wonderful essentials to make learning, writing, reading, and creating fun. Ana Karen is designing a special pencil, especially for Buttonz's book launch!
Paola Gutierrez, otherwise known as "La Piedrita Feliz" and "El Libro Feliz y Yo" is a children's book writer and poet who loves to paint beautiful stones with encouraging messages and affirmations. She graciously agreed to be part of our campaign by designing several sets of Mojo Motivations and we couldn't be more thrilled!
Naynay the Cat Lady is a mysterious gal who loves to crochet and is so so crafty. She has created a prototype of a Buttonz stuffy using her fabulous crocheting skills that are available exclusively for this campaign. How very boutique of her! Recommended for older children. Limited supply, so snatch yours up before they're gone!

Stop saying "you're so strong and brave! You're such a great activist!".
I shouldn't have to be. I'm wasting my years fighting for my human rights against people who won't pick up any other book if it saved their life.
I'm so goddamn tired and I'm scared to death.

Hi, how to get people to stop constantly watching you? I’m the only black person at my work place (idk if it’s a race thing or just strange behavior-) and there’s my co supervisor who I have spoken with about my coworker I work with how she lacks commcuaition with me. He agreeed but the next day he was all up in their face talking with her and I noticed they’re a clique and he’s friends with her. So he began to act different and when I’m carrying an overload of work he’d look at me and say: oh it’s because you have a lot of responsibilities and you’re all alone? You’ll be fine. You got this. Then he’d walk away. We work in partnership so she works with me but just walks away and talks to her friends.
He’s watching me more and not only that, the woman I work with and her friend watch me constantly but her friend ignores me when I say hi or try to speak with her causally. But I find her over listening when I speak to other coworkers or staring at me when I’m not looking and when I look at her she looks away.
It’s rude to stare and it’s disgusting behavior and I don’t know what to do since my co supervisor has been acting differently since I spoke up about how I’d like more communication. When I look at him he’s not smiling then he decides to.
He’s friendly and nice but I just feel like he’s faking it or not really into me as a worker - which is fine but I’m super uncomfortable being watched all the time.
Hi love. I'm so sorry you're going through this. I was uncomfortable and ashamed of these people's behavior from what you described above, so I can only imagine how distressing it is to work around and experience this dynamic on a daily basis. Personally, I would subtly point out their odd behavior without being too petty. For example, if I caught one of these colleagues staring, I would ask them "Are you good?" or "You look lost, do you need something?"
Hopefully, they will start to feel called out and embarrassed, so they learn to leave you alone, mind their own business, and be professional at their workplace. If any BIPOC women have any additional advice or insights, please share as we all should learn/do better when we can (speaking from a white woman's perspective here!).
Hope this helps xx

Hello yes this is cat
I've been procrastinating on this introduction for weeks, but no longer, dangit! As it says in the picture, I'm Quill. I draw stuff, write stuff, and talk about important stuff. I'm an educator in the real world and have always loved the power of words and characters. I have like, five fursonas, but my main one is a caracal mix named Indigo!

Can we get a round of applause for Justina Ireland?
In her book Deathless Divide, she not only tackled the ignorance and immorality of racial discrimination in her alternate history/fiction, but gave the reader a masc bisexual amputee black woman protag AND a femme aroace black woman protag who suffers from anxiety and panic attacks. She also sprinkled mentions of other queer characters in her story as well, and most of the cast is bipoc. SHE RAISED THE STANDARDS FOR REPRESENTATION FOR EVERYONE. ROUND OF FUCKING APPLAUSE.

I am relatively new to tumblr and am looking for friends and community. I am a Black, Indigenous, Queer, Disabled person. Would you be willing to share a few blog recs?
I'm sorry I can't think of any specific blogs off the top of my head, but I did recently stumble upon @disabledclassifieds. It's a blog that disabled people can use to post and reply to personal ads from other disabled people, and I feel like it may be a slightly better source of information than I am 😅 [grinning face with water drop emoji]
And (I don't know how new you are so I apologise if this comes across as patronising, it is not supposed to be), I personally found it a bit easier to integrate into a community in the disability punk tags. Cripplepunk, madpunk, audpunk etc. etc. Little corners of tumblr for various communities.
And (because I know sometimes it's easier if someone else makes the first move) I will encourage anyone who sees this, if they want to, to reach out to you! (If you would like that, of course)

I found this link to a petition that will attempt to ask Biden to at least intervene on the overturning of ICWA, so please sign this if you can and if he doesn’t intervene whether it’s because of Big Oil or his own racist motives then we need to come together as people and figure out how to help our Indigenous siblings in need. Because if they do this to the Indigenous people and get away with it, other minority groups might be next.

Miss Perumal gave him a wry look. "Don't play games with me, Reynie Muldoon. If you aren't the most talented child I've ever known, then I've never known a child at all."
He always looked forward to Miss Perumal's company - her laughter, her wry expressions, the stories she told (often in Tamil) of her childhood in India, even the occasional sighs she made when she didn't think he were aware. They were gentle and lifting...

Wakanda Forever
…………………. Major spoiler alerts in this one dnr
⚠️dni spoiler Wakanda forever⚠️
⚠️⚠️SPOILER ALERT DONT READ!!!!!!! ⚠️⚠️
I just came out of watching Wakanda forever and I don’t know where to start with this movie. It’s so well written with all the characters having deep human flaws, the portrayal of grief and the stages of growth for each character was just pure gold.
Shuri’s personal growth and her sudden and rapid change into maturity was incredibly well done. She experiences the death of multiple family members and she eventually gets consumed by rage and vengeance, (shown when she sees N’Jdaka in the ancestral plane) and wanting to burn the world down. Her grief is so tangible and her hurt is so powerful bc she lost the very anchor to her emotions. Once Queen Ramonda dies, Shuri states her heart is buried with her mother, showing a well done parallel to Namors name, the child without love. Shuri also rapidly matured bc of the constant trauma and the forced ascension to the throne, causing her to see Namor in a new light and recognize the damage that colonizing countries want to inflict on the two empires of land and sea. It was all a grab for resources and the usage of manipulative tactics of pitting one minority group against the other to gain power thru extortion. Shuri and Namor were both ready to burn it to the ground, but chose to save and heal their traumas and keep their people safe. Ugh I love this too much I’m never gonna get over it!!!! Eeeeeeee :’’DD
Namor is also an incredible character. He represents the more melanated Meso-American kings and empires that colonization has erased and lost. It also brings a sense of dignity back to Indigenous culture and history, since Namor’s uses two names, one in the mother tongue, the translation being the Feathered Serpent God, (Ku’kulkan). This name he used in familiarity with his people, with his allies. His other name, “Namor” was cursed upon him by a Spanish priest who forced his mother out of her home. Names hold a lot of power in Indigenous and Black communities; it’s a reminder of the past, who you were, and provided a kind of identification within those communities. It’s crucial to understand that when Namor have the choice to Shuri and Ramonda to use either name, it was almost as if he was testing their resolve and who they were. Choose wisely bc one is for my enemies and one is for my allies. He also oozes confidence and strength, which isn’t something that men of color can’t often do without it being critiqued or considered arrogant. Same thing with women of color, particularly Black and Indigenous women. It’s such a great choice for him to be such a beautiful character (both physically and written), and I would watch this again and again <3
if you want me to do more analysis on this- plz let me know or request scenes and stuff…. Idk how it works but ask and I will do my best to answer! :)
Thank you!! :DD

I'm not gonna say names, cause a bunch of you are just friends with the epitome of toxicity out there and you got me freaking tired of your DMs and boring screenshots, and that fake-ass speech about "I'm not into this discussions and drama", except when this affects you.
But, finally yesterday I listened to someone talking about the political aspects of Witchcraft and how much we can do, not like your favorite white ones, who are all the time repeating that #Witchcraft is political and then keep a very convenient silence when something happens to not lose followers and readers, cause of course... Money is more important than actually putting your hands into action, right?
My constant reminder to all, that witchcraft is a path of empowerment historically carried over the shoulders of slaves, women, immigrants (Romanians, Ukranians, German, British, Africans, Caribbeans, etc...) And being pro-diversity is deeper than just highlighting a #blacklivesmatter in your profile to fake your support to the black community.
Also, if "what you do" in pro of diversity, is just to go around as a white hero repeating over and over how cool you are, and at the same time you're being paid for it, you're not doing it for diversity, you're just "supporting" a convenient cause for you.
Have a nice day, the good ones, and the toxic fake-ass ones too ☝🏻
