I think one of my favorite things about the black dragons arc was the underlying commentary on loneliness and isolation which the characters were battling with, in different ways. For instance, we have: 

Takemichi, who in the future is living on his own. He doesn't have anyone to care for him, and neither does he care for anyone. When he finds out there’s a way to escape his situation and actually help someone who had once cared for him (his former girlfriend), he grasps at the chance and gives it his best to save Hina. He strives to save even more people as he forms bonds with them in the past, all the while realizing how important it is to be loved, and love others. Which makes this one of the best panels in tr: 

Then we have Mikey, who we have seen has issues with relying on others and bottling up his suffering. He doesn’t want to be a burden on others, and yet, he emotionally relies on his family and friends to keep going, to have a reason to fight and to be strong. I think this arc is heartbreaking because we see Mikey unravelling due to the loss of his brother and Baji, two of the people he had always been able to rely on. As we see, in each future Mikey ends up alone because he pushes everyone away after realizing that he cannot save everyone. 

Lastly, if we take Yuzuha, we can see how awful her family dynamic has been after losing her mother. She has been alone in trying to protect Hakkai from Taiju’s abuse, a burden she had to bare all on her own. She had to battle with both physical and emotional abuse, without anyone to rely on or to help her. When she finally sees Mitsuya and the others take a stand to protect her and Hakkai, she realizes, probably for the first time since her mother had passed away, that she was not alone anymore: 

I think the beauty and detail which has been given to each of these panels further shows how important this theme was to the arc, as well as being one of the main underlying issues that characters deal with throughout the manga

Tokyo Revengers finally returns for a second season, bringing back a twisted storyline and epic gang fights. Fans can't wait to see their old thugs like Mikey, Draken, Mitsuya, and Chifuyu back in action, but with the new season changing the plot of Christmas Showdown, more powerful manga characters come to life.

Ryan Condal you are so fucking stupid and I hate you so much.

Because how are you going to sit there and say Alicent recounted a fabricated version of Blood and Cheese to historians to make Rhaenyra look bad and that’s why you changed it.

The very same Alicent that you say has been humbled this season and betrayed her sons to help Rhaenyra.

How are you so stupid that you can’t even keep her characterization the same in your own brain when you rationalize your butchering of the story you were tasked with adapting. Which one is it? Is Alicent the humbled Rhaenyra helper who wanted to doom her male relatives. Or is Alicent the bitter Rhaenyra hater who destroyed her reputation in the histories. SHE CANNOT BE BOTH RYAN.

And if this is some weak attempt at saying Alicent will change again…FUCK YOU. Because you threw out her season 1 characterization completely for this season 2 humbled Alicent arc. Only to apparently throw it all out AGAIN for a queen in chains who hates Rhaenyra and will ruin her reputation arc for seasons 3 and 4. In which case WHAT WAS THE REASON. WHY DID YOU EVEN DO THIS. JUST KEEP THE CHARACTER CONSISTENT

I’m just saying. That Ryan Condal is not even capable of figuring out who he wants Alicent to be. So he just uses his weird misinterpretations and hatred of Alicent to excuse every bizarre and stupid creative decision he makes. And all that does is make Alicent a character with absolutely zero consistency. Because she is Rhaenyra’s best friend, then she’s Rhaenyra’s biggest hater, then she’s Rhaenyra’s supporter again (the toasting scene???), then she’s a usurper, then she helps Rhaenyra, then she’s apparently going to hate Rhaenyra all over again and recount fabrications to history. And on and on it goes.

At this point just let Alicent hate Rhaenyra and be done with it. I’m tired

Rhaenyra really said, "a son for a son" as if Jahaerys was not brutally butchered in his own bed. Like, are we really out here making a six year old little boy's death meaningless?? And then Alicent was like, "you're right, go ahead and kill my eldest boy. Not like he can defend himself given what my other son did to him but fine..." Girl, he has been desperate for your love and support, and you turn on him so swiftly! And then she asks to please please please let her flee with Helaena and Jahaera like okay, so not only are you letting Aegon just die, but you're gonna take his last child away from him too???

But, then again, maybe it doesn't matter because Aegon seems to have fled the city???? To a degree, I guess I can make sense of him not bringing Helaena with him but Jahaera??? My guy, that is your daughter, your only living child! Like, if we're gonna be out here saying that Aegon loves his children, then let's fucking see it... for his son and his daughter, not just the boy.

Alicent, I'm so sorry for what they've done to you. They've completely gutted your entire character, and I'm deeply mourning its loss.

How much do you want to bet the writers gave Rhaenyra gender envy because Emma is non-binary, and they thought it would be an easy connection to make without thinking at all of how much they are deviating from the character - and how disingenuous it is to Emma.

(If I’m right and that’s what they were thinking of, then such a connection would have been better set up in s1, where the framing of having Joffrey as a choice could have been used by Alicent and other bigoted Greens to say that it was “a shame that Rhaenyra was choosing to ruin her body with so many unnecessary pregnancies” only for everyone else/Daemon to think that Rhaenyra actually looks amazing. This also could have been used to explain the change in looks from Milly to Emma)
