People be like "horikoshi is a bad writer" because the manga has character dynamics they don't like? Like someone just said that Horikoshi is a bad writer because Izuku idolizes All Might too much...

Y'all someone isn't a bad writer because they don't emotionally interpret THEIR OWN characters the way you do. Bad writing is inconsistencies and poor worldbuilding and making it difficult to suspend disbelief.

"Horikoshi is a bad writer because Bakugou is favoured by teachers when he shouldn't be" that's not Horikoshi being a bad writer btw. That's him setting up a character's social surroundings and situation, much in the way they happen in real life- in unpredictable, often "unfair" ways.

"Horikoshi is a bad writer because he focuses on Bkg and Izu while stronger characters like Denki or Star and Stripe are wasted/ignored/killed off" actually that's called having a protagonist and a deuteragonist.

I literally saw someone calling Horikoshi a bad writer because he doesn't treat his MC "professionally". Literally, it's unprofessional because Izuku has to lose his quirk/maybe die/maybe lose an arm/not have the ending y'all's wanted. UNPROFESSIONAL. An author doing what he wants with HIS STORY and HIS MC is unprofessional now???

Like fr I get it. If he loses OFA I'll be devastated. But that doesn't make Horikoshi a bad writer. If anything, it makes a damn good one for being able to affect his audience in this way.

Horikoshi is not a bad writer because he doesn't do what YOU personally want with the characters and plot. Do you hate Bakugou? Well, then he's doing a damn good job writing an antagonistic character. Do you think All Might is a terrible teacher? That is DELIBERATE.

hey, so i need some advice on ao3 etiquette, and was hoping for your opinion -

i posted a fic recently and got a bunch of comments (nice problems and so on)

i'm wondering if answering all of them is like, 'in bad taste' ?

on one hand i want to let these 5-8 people know i'm happy they enjoyed the story,

on the other hand it maybe makes the fic look more popular than it is - which is maybe misleading ...

any thoughts?

Well, I try to answer every comment I get, because the person took their time to type it down and send it, and the least I can do is show my gratitude.

People sort their fics in all different ways: hits, kudos, comments; they make ridiculous ass formulas to count what's worth reading or not. If you try to fit into everyone's standard, you're gonna loose yourself. Like, so what if there's a lot of comments? What are people going to accuse you of, being kind? Please.

If you want to answer every comment, do so.

Due to recent events, I've decided to finish and send the novel to the institute that offer ADHD diagnosis among other things. I have enough of myself. I mean once I have proof by A + B that I'm just lazy maybe that will be a wake up call. They don't require a phone call, thank god, but they require a description of symptoms, history etc. Obviously I took that as writing a freaking essay.

Things I wrote in the essay in question:

Wrote it like it's a first person POV story

Wrote that I can't talk properly in a narration where I alternated between formal and informal writing

After listing all the basic things I can't do, I digress about how I somehow manage to travel by own once year despite not being able to make one phone call, having my driving licence, doing the chores.

In the said digression, after I said a few lines higher that I have social anxiety, said that I somehow feel more comfortable speaking in English than in my native language, not cause I speak well (I don't I panic and forget every single word of the English language cause I don't practise often) but because I feel like being a foreigner i am less judged than stumbling every three words in my fucking tongue.

After that digression I dropped that I kinda have my thoughts going everywhere (case in point)

Casually dropped my past of school bullying like it's totally unrelated to my anxiety, just, maybe I am a bit paranoid. Drowned this short sentence in the middle of rambling so it doesn't sound like a big thing.

Said that I was advised to have an ADHD diagnosis by people who had diagnosis and are now feel better but that I'm still not convinced I have anything but I just think I'm lazy and overdramatic

Ended the whole thing by apologising for being annoying

001. it is no secret that they like GETTING ON ratio's nerves. it is fun to do so when his accent is so prominent in his voice. they get a lot of HUMOR from trying to get reactions out of him. while not purposely trying to get a rise out of him more often than not, his antics still bring forth joy. their easygoing nature around him is something that stems from mere goofs.

002. they actually find his lessons & his skills reliable. during distressful situations where someone is injured & he is already PREOCCUPIED with someone else, they find themselves mirroring his actions whenever he treated them. despite his nature, ratio is reliable. that much they know of as they do what he does.

003. would GENUINELY have him as one of their distress and crisis numbers if something demands the work of someone from the health field. his knowledge is something that cannot be feigned & there are things that he likely KNOWS better than they do so chances are, he'll be one of the first people they'd contact in the face of adversities.

004. likes hearing him speak. while there is no guarantee that they will ALWAYS understand what he is putting down, they think that his voice is a good one to prevent people from falling asleep. it gets people to pay attention & that is why they ask questions even if the subject is something that they are not TOO interested in just to let him drone on. even then, some of his imparted knowledge will stick one way or another.

Sometimes. We are triggered bc men who use to harass us and mark a miserable time in our lives try to control us again. And sometimes we know we are safe and that he can’t control us. And we have a little cry and have some ice cream :)
