The Orion Nebula. Certainly the darling of amateur astrophotographers, but, isn’t it beautiful?
The Orion Nebula is the brightest nebula in the sky. It is readily visible via binoculars in the constellation of Orion.
On a galactic scale it is close-by at 1,500 light years. However keep this distance in perspective: a radio message to the moon takes about 1-2 seconds. To the nearby planets: several minutes. To the Orion Nebula a message takes about 1,500 years.
I photographed the Orion Nebula from my balcony in Strasbourg France on a rare clear night in December 2022.

NGC 281 - the Pac-Man Nebula
A high-zoom look at the emission nebula NGC 281, which earned its nickname due to the scar-like dark nebula cutting out a region of it resembling Pac-Man's mouth. It's incredibly rich in details and a delight to shoot - I loved seeing how the contrast and detail improved as I added more data to the image. Below the cut are some earlier variants of the shot with less exposure time on various channels. See if you can spot how it evolved.
Shot at 1600mm with a 200mm aperture Ritchey-Chretien telescope and a ZWO ASI533MM Pro camera, using 7nm bandpass narrowband filters to achieve the SHO Hubble palette. Edited with PixInsight, including using the BlurXTerminator generative AI model for deconvolution and the free DeepSNR and StarNet2 AI models for noise reduction and star extraction.

A version with much less data in the red channel (Sulfur-II)

A very early draft with less data in the red and blue (Oxygen-III) channels. Note the uncorrected donut-shaped dark spots from specks of dust on my mirror that I didn't correct out in this draft.

Sh2-142, the Wizard Nebula. This emission nebula is a large, diffuse HII region in the constellation Cepheus and is ionized by the binary star DH Cephei, which is the bright star just about centre in the image. This is almost 6 hour's worth of capture image was taken with my Celestron SCT 8" back in mid-October. #clayhausphotography #celestronuniverse #celestronrocks #celestrontelescope #astrophotography #pixinsight #blurxterminator #astropixelprocessor https://www.instagram.com/p/CmaRb7YPSE_/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

IC2944 Running Chicken Nebula
IC 2944, also known as the Running Chicken Nebula. The first experience of ASI 2600MM Mono camera and also Optolong 3nm SHO filters. IC 2944 gets the running chicken nebula name from a group of stars that resemble a running chicken. Could you find it ?
