The Corinthian tries to imagine him kneeling in front of Rose, asking for something to do, and can’t.

This snippet (opted for more than a line just to give a little more context XD) is from “In Occursum Dei”. Current word count is 22k, including the outline. ^_^;;

A Big Thank You For Death Appreciation Week

This is slightly overdue but I just wanted to say to everyone who participated thank you so much for Death Appreciation Week! All your fanworks have been wonderful to see and it's been a joy on my dash this past week in the run up to the release of Dead Boy Detectives.

Wasn't she fabulous in it? Even if it was only a short cameo it was so so lovely to see Death again and it just makes me more excited for more Sandman!

Are you named after anyone?

Yes, after a singer.

When was the last time you cried?

Yesterday, when I read a fanfic. I cried quite easily when nobody is looking.

It's healthy and natural.

Do you have kids?

Hopefully never

What sports do you play/have you played? 

I used to practice karate in my younger days but the sensei is too harsh for my opinion so I stopped 😹 I enjoyed swimming a lot however, it's not like I'm good at it.

Do you use sarcasm? I don't see the use of it

What is the first thing you notice about people?

Their feet. No eye contact!

What's your eye color?

Dark brown. Someone insisted it's black :p they don't exist do they? So it's probably dark brown.

Scary movies or happy endings?

Scary movies. Happy ending (in movies) bored me really fast, I need the thrills.

Any talents?

Just a lil bit doing this and that. Mostly in artistic aspects. I like cooking takoyaki, too. Finding missing object, which is an Asian mother traits. And I'm not even a mother.

What are your hobbies?

Drawing, crafting, singing, spitting out random facts and forced my family to listen.

Do you have any pets? Not anymore

None. Not even art back then I suppose. I only learned to enjoy things outside school.

A professional singer. When I become one, my mutuals are invited to my concert lol.

So earlier in the year after a conversation we had about Corintheus dates in the waking world @aisalynn drew this wonderful piece of fanart and then I asked a question about ice cream flavours to help me finish this little scene. Still kinda rough, but it's the Corintheus ice cream date that was part of a very early draft for Baiting the Trap.

It's still intended to come up somewhere, but the series has had some new additions since I first planned this. Hope you enjoy! <3

The woman behind the counter smiled. “What flavour would you like?”

The Corinthian was still surprised they were in an ice cream shop at all, that they were in the Waking World at all, had no idea why Dream had even agreed to this in the first place. There were no answers forthcoming—neither for him or the woman who had spoken—instead the Corinthian watched as his creator frowned, perfect brow wrinkling, examining the myriad of flavours with something approaching consternation.

It was an uncharacteristic display of uncertainty.

The Corinthian grinned, slung an arm around his narrow shoulders. “Not that hard sweetheart.”

Dream was still peering down at the selection. “I do not see the point of this.”

The Corinthian smirked at the lady stood behind the counter, now looking between them with her own frown. “You’re supposed to pick something you like.”

“I do not have much experience with ice cream.”

It was delivered very solemnly.

The Corinthian snorted. “How about you have black liquorice hmm?”

A moment of silence while he thought.

“Very well.” Dream replied softly.

He looked up, met the eyes of the human behind the counter, hesitance gone for all his tone pitched so achingly gentle. “May I have the black liquorice?”

It was odd seeing Dream so restrained, so much of him pulled in, the glow barely a glint in his eyes, a shimmer of skin all that remained of starlight, incredible because humans eyes skirted around him as if finding nothing remarkable. It was only when he spoke to them that they realised, shocked to it, a moment where they did a double take as if trying to figure out how they’d possibly missed him.

The woman behind the counter was having that moment now.

Are you named after anyone? My birth name was given to me because of a book. My chosen name is still under construction :b

When was the last time you cried? I think last week? Probably due to how tired I was or because of paperwork.

Do you have kids? Nope

What sports do you play/have you played? I've practiced several styles of martial arts throughout the years, but it has become too expensive and time-consuming. At the moment I just lift weights and I'm learning voguing (:

Do you use sarcasm? A lot, but I'm trying to get better at avoiding it.

What is the first thing you notice about people? If they are wearing/carrying anything that shows their personality/interests.

What's your eye color? Brown.

Scary movies or happy endings? I've come to appreciate both, but I'm generally a horror fan of most kinds.

Any talents? I'm good at imitating voices and accents (thinking of doing podfics at some point?), and at learning languages. I'm really good at debating and used to do it competitively. I'm also good at finding the most efficient/effortless way of doing things.

Favorite color: I usually don’t do colours. Only black. I might let a bit of red or purple sneak in. When I feel particularly adventurous, a smidgeon of hot pink (go away with pastels) or really bright turquoise.

Last song: Aria 2 (pt. 1) by Max Richter because I sometimes put on “Sleep” when I write. Yeah, sounds counterintuitive, I know 🤣 Great for focus though. At least for me.

Currently watching: Not much. Not in a TV headspace at the moment, too much reading and writing going on.

Currently craving: Nothing in particular. Thinking of it, I could go a coffee…

Coffee or Tea: Oh, I just answered that question previously I guess. Coffee of course. Forever and always. Black and short. No shenanigans. I hate tea. I can tolerate fruit infusions on a good day in winter, but that’s about it.

This is from my shortly post-canon fic where Unity and Gault drag Lucienne out of her library for a much needed picnic, feat. juicy backstory between Lucienne and Gault, complex feelings about the idea of family, and the sacred act of bonding while eating a meal.

Morpheus had presented Unity with the same offer he had to Rose Walker: that she could stay in the Dreaming after her death, if she so desired. She accepted. After some experimentation in various sectors of the Dreaming, Unity had eventually settled in Fiddler’s Green. Her innate warmth suited her well to greeting visitors and making them feel at home.

Fiddler’s Green had returned to its full lushness, making it a more than ideal place of residence for her, and Unity enjoyed the company of its embodiment. It charmed Lucienne that Unity always addressed him as Gilbert, and amused her that Unity’s primary association of him—Fiddler’s Green, one of the Major Arcana, known by some as the heart of the Dreaming itself—seemed to be that he was her great-granddaughter’s former housemate. What with his experience with and particular affinity for humans, Lucienne thought he was the one of the best friends Unity could have made in the Dreaming. Lucienne was self-aware enough to know sometimes she herself fell short in that department. She had seldom spent time with humans in their own lands, on their own terms.

Not since she was human herself, that is.
