Hello, first of all thanks for asking this question. Even i am curious about someone being that legendary in india as a bts fan too. The question is interesting and i pulled some cards about it.
According to me, there will be either a male-female duo, or a male with feminine energy and features (like jimin) you know someone who attracts female gaze a lot.
Gen z will make them famous. I'm seeing nostalgic music. So they may make nostalgic music like it was in the 90s and 00s golden era of bollywood. They'll be independent artists. I'm not sure who, but they are currently not in the scene rn. People from bollywood and bollywood celebs would be jealous of their fan base. As they will make good music far away from the trashy sh*t bollywood makes. People in the industry would be surprised as how come someone be that mainstream and famous without any connections.
Yes, this will probably happen in 2027 smh. When genz grows up a bit more. I'm seeing this artist will grow organically and will have a cult fanbase internationally. People will connect to this person. I'm reminded of "Jordan" from rockstar.
This person will be very mysterious and unique. Their genre can be hiphop or rock. Something that elevates people. Other than being infamous for music, their love life would be talked about too. This person may suffer from heartbreak or toxic relationships in love and their music will show it. They make relatable music. Very emotional, sensitive and mysterious person. No one would know much about them but people's eyes would be on them 24/7. I'm seeing them being attractive physically too. Another reason why people like them so much. Especially the young generation. This artist will start the wave of next generation indian music after bollywood collapses as they are not changing people will move towards more independent artists.
They will surely leave a legacy behind, lot's of wealth. Because of their shadow like dark nature, people may suspect they selled their soul or smth. But i find it funny because that's not it. 💀 They will top international charts too. There is this literal star card here. I can't explain it better. They would have struggled a lot both for their career and personal life. I'm also seeing trauma here. They have suffered a lot. Idk why this is coming here but i also see a woman (love interest) manipulating them behind the scenes. He loves her, but she is just using em for fame and money. They will be very controversial and that's why people would be more interested in them. It's like their misery will make them famous. 😭 I'm also seeing international tours and news headlines. They surely will be very legendary but may die early or suic*de.
One more thing about this artist it that they would be do smth taboo, or which is not generally expected from famous people in countries like india. They may also be an outcast.

hiiii today's reminder is that tiktok about Patrick stump and Br*ndon Ur*e was so brave yet so very true. which brings me to my controversial opinion: hitting/holding a high note does not necessarily equal great vocal technique. don't get me wrong, it's a skill, and definitely impressive esp in men, but to me it just doesn't come close to people who know how to use their voice to sing. for context, i grew up learning a style of indian classical music called carnatic music, which is very heavy on tonal embellishment and very intricate riffs. and this definitely bleeds into mainstream music here. for context here's a song i love that leans into classical elements while still being pop https://youtu.be/zWEOx7TSM6I?si=WEfPpre6FvkrR4WR and this guy is one of the best in the industry, but you do need a very high entry level of this kind of skill to get in. and I love k pop music, i truly do, but there's a definite difference in the level of vocal technique I expect in a k pop song vs a bollywood song, even in the vocal forward ballads. all of which is to say while I do appreciate people who hit the high notes at the end of the bridge, there's people (here's a non-exhaustive list: onew, jonghyun, suho, taeyeon, taeil, doyoung, dokyeom) who know how to use their voices to their best. who know how to play with a simple melody to make it interesting while still keeping it at a level where it remains a balanced group song (which is precisely why I will fight for solo albums for all of these people). and they're all very expressive singers, which I think is the most important part. could they all do carnatic riffs? probably not any time soon, it would take years of training.

Hiii, Oh, Bangchan also said something similar to that and I do agree, holding a high note is definitely a skill within itself but it's not the sole indicator of a great vocalist. Like vocal control and knowing how to work with your voice is really important. I went to a magnet school in elementary, in 5th grade you get the chance to spend the final hour in an elective. So even though I really really wanted dance, I was too self conscious and chose music. And they did not go easy on us 5th graders. So there's so much that goes into vocal practice and training. And you can really tell when someone really mastered their voice as an instrument such as Sir Patrick Stump, vs Brandon who just goes "hey look what I can do". Also like with the singer you sent you can tell that years of training went into creating the control he has on his voice. Also I got so invested in the music video it was all so wonderful. I want to bring up Felix who yes is more of a rapper but his vocal range is unbelievable. Since his voice naturally is very deep the way that he can manipulate it depending on what is needed is amazing. deeper voices tend to not be as versatile. But his is, I would love to see what more vocal training and focus on singing could do for him. I love Onews voice, I love Onew. He's my favorite little guy. SM does have amazing vocalists. I totally understood what you meant, Goodnight. Sleep well.

Indian cinema has no scarcity of films which either courted major controversy or faced complete ban and were never released in the country. Interestingly, these pictures have garnered rave critical reviews and been well-received at international film festivals. From themes that deal with communal violence to homosexuality and politics, these are some of the most controversial films ever made in India.
Garm Hawa (1973)

Garm Hawa is a film based on an unpublished story by eminent Urdu writer Ismat Chughtai. In 1947, India gained independence from the British colonial rule, but it also came at a heavy price—the division of the country to India and Pakistan. Garm Hawa tells the poignant story of a Muslim businessman who is torn between staying back in India, the land of his forefathers, or joining his relatives in Pakistan. It is one of the best films to showcase the plight of the Muslims in the country in a post-partition era. The film was deferred for eight months, fearing communal violence, before it was released.
Aandhi (1975)

This political drama centres around a woman politician whose appearance was uncannily similar to that of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. This led the film to face allegations that it was based on her, especially Gandhi’s relationship with her estranged husband. However, the filmmakers had only borrowed the protagonist’s look from the Prime Minister and the rest had nothing to do with her life. Even after its release, the director was asked to remove scenes which showed the lead actress smoking and drinking during an election campaign and the film was completely banned during the national Emergency later that year.
Kissa Kursi Ka (1977)

Directed by Member of Parliament Amrit Nahata, the film is a satire on the administrative regime of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and her son Sanjay Gandhi. Kissa Kursi Ka was submitted for certification from the Central Board of Film Certification in 1975 but the country was put under Emergency the same year and so the film was banned during that entire period. All movie prints, including the masterprint, were confiscated and destroyed during the time, a move which even landed Sanjay in jail.
Bandit Queen (1994)

The biographical film is based on the life of Phoolan Devi, a feared woman dacoit who led a gang of bandits in northern India. Phoolan belonged to a poor low caste family and was married to a man three times her age. She later took to a life of crime. The film, directed by Bafta-winner Shekhar Kapur, was criticised for its excessive use of abusive language, sexual content and nudity. Despite the backlash, Bandit Queen went on to win the National Film Award for Best Feature Film.
Fire (1996)

Fire is the first instalment in the Elements trilogy directed by acclaimed filmmaker Deepa Mehta. It is considered a pathbreaking film for being the first Indian cinema to explore homosexual relationship. But on its release, it faced adverse reactions with vandals burning posters and destroying cinemas where the film was being screened. Following the scandal, Fire was retracted briefly and Mehta even led a candlelit protest in New Delhi to oppose the move.
Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love (1996)

Kama Sutra: A Tale Of Love, directed by Mira Nair, was banned in India with the officials stating the film’s sexual content was too harsh for Indian sensitivities. An ironic suggestion, considering the book Kama Sutra originated in India and is easily available for purchase. Protesters labelled the film as unethical and immoral, but it received widespread critical acclaim. Kama Sutra: A Tale Of Love explores the relationship of four lovers in 16th-century India.
Paanch (2003)

Anurag Kashyap is a pioneer filmmaker, but also one of the most controversial in the Indian film industry. He has never shied away from broaching bold topics, which may not sit well with many in the Indian community. His directorial debut Paanch, which revolves around the life of five band members entangled in a kidnapping plot gone wrong, remains unreleased to this day. Inspired by true life incidents, the drugs, violence and sex depicted in the film was considered inappropriate for the Indian audience.
Hava Aaney De (2004)

Hava Aney De is an Indo-French film which works with the sensitive subject of India-Pakistan war. The Censor Board of India demanded over 21 cuts in the film, but the director Partho Sen-Gupta would hear nothing of it. Hava Aney De, therefore, was never released in India. It did win multiple awards at film events held abroad including Best Film at Durban International Film Festival and the BBC Audience Award at the Commonwealth Film Festival.
Water (2005)

Water is the third and final instalment in Deepa Mehta’s trilogy of films. It tackles the subject of ostracism and misogyny through the lives of widows at an ashram in Varanasi. Water was believed to show the country in a bad light, and even before filming started, right-wing activists wrecked film sets and issued suicide threats. Mehta was eventually forced to move the filming location to Sri Lanka. Not only that, but she had to change the entire cast and shoot the film under a pseudo title, River Moon.
The Pink Mirror (2006)

The Pink Mirror is the first mainstream film to have two transsexuals as protagonists. While it was a groundbreaking moment in Indian cinema, the Central Board of Film Certification had other opinions, calling the film “’vulgar and offensive”. The Pink Mirror remains banned in India but it went on to win the Jury Award for Best Feature at the New York LGBT Film Festival and the Best Film of the Festival at Question de Genre in Lille, France. Black Friday (2007)

Black Friday, another Anurag Kashyap venture, also faced a temporary ban. It deals with the 1993 Mumbai bombings, and the Bombay High Court decided to suspend the release until the trial was over. This meant that Kashyap had to wait for another three years until Black Friday hit cinemas. The film received praise from both international and national media with the New York Times comparing it to Academy Award nominees Salvador and Munich.
Parzania (2007)

Parzania is inspired by the true story of a 10-year-old boy, Azhar Mody who disappeared after the 2002 Gulbarg Society massacre during which 69 people were killed. This is one of the many incidents which led to the Gujarat riots, one of the worst acts of communal violence the country has ever witnessed. Cinema owners in Gujarat were allegedly threatened not to screen Parzania and the film went on to face an unofficial ban in the state.
Inshallah, Football (2010)

Inshallah, Football is a documentary film about a young boy from Kashmir who dreams of becoming a famous footballer. But his ambitions are crushed when he is not allowed to travel abroad because his father is an alleged militant. Critics felt the documentary showcased the reality of violence-afflicted Kashmir, but it failed to get the green light from the authorities for release in India as they felt the film was critical of how the Indian military operated in the politically sensitive region of Kashmir.
India’s Daughter (2015)

India’s Daughter is a documentary by British filmmaker Leslee Udwin and is based on the horrific Delhi gang rape and murder of 23-year-old student Jyoti Singh in 2012. The film includes an interview with Mukesh Singh, one of the four men convicted in the case. India’s Daughter was banned in India because the rapist airs certain views on gender which show the country in a poor light. These incendiary comments were believed to disturb the peace restored after a countrywide protest following news of the rape.
Padmavati (2017)

Padmavati is the latest Hindi film to court serious controversy as some right-wing groups felt that the film misrepresents history and thus tarnishes the reputation of certain communities in Rajasthan. A bounty was also put on the director and the lead actress, who portrays the historical queen Padmavati in the film. The film was scheduled for release in December 2017 but remains shelved so far. Historians, however, have debated the real life existence of the queen, with many saying she was a fictional character in an epic poem.

Tandav could be Saif Ali Khan’s next trouble spot. Amazon Prime Video’s new web-series that goes live in mid-January has him playing a wily North Indian politician. It is based on a real-life politician, a very controversial one at that. But we are not revealing a name. There is enough trouble for Saif every time his movie opens, or he opens his mouth.
2020’s only large-screen blockbuster Tanhaji – The Unsung Warrior became very controversial after Saif spoke about the manipulation of the history. Now even before it has started shooting, Saif Ali Khan’s Adipurush where he plays Ravana is in the news for all the wrong reasons.
Again, in his webseries Tandav, he plays a character with shades of grey. In an interview, Saif said he enjoys playing dark characters as they give him a chance to be more morally flexible.
Tandav is the story of a morally compromised politician who wants to become the Prime Minister of the country by hook or crook. Going by the teaser, it looks like an interesting slickly-packaged political thriller with a powerful supporting cast including Dimple Kapadia who apparently plays the manipulative brain behind the political throne.
At a time when many A-list stars in Bollywood have decided to stay away from political themes—why? Because it always causes controversy and trouble—Saif is back at the forefront of a volatile modern day Game of Thrones.

Indian audience loves to watch reality shows – lockdown or no lockdown. But, has the time come to call out the shows on Indian television that are hiding under the garb of reality? Are they really real, and if yes, then to what extent?
ETimes TV deep dives into the compelling questions around reality shows and puts them across to an array of people from the entertainment industry.
Senior TV producer and veteran Bollywood actor Manoj Kumar’s cousin, Manish Goswami who has produced more than 35 shows over the last 27 years- ‘Daraar’, ‘Adhikar’, ‘Aashirwad’, ‘Kartavya, ‘Milan’ and ‘Kittie Party’ to name a few, says, “In India, reality shows are scripted. They are scripted to an extent that they become viewer-friendly. The target audience has been identified and they are given what they’re waiting for. The makers want to get all the expressions in a 45-60 minute capsule and the viewer-excitement quotient is kept in mind. But I don’t think that this happens abroad as they are very strict there.”
Foreign reality TV shows — be it American Idol, Big Brother or any other reality show – the authenticity, transparency and accountability is far higher than in the Indian formats. No twist and turn is made for melodrama. The format is followed to the T. No creative person’s contribution is over-ruled or modified once it is locked. This in turn implies that each contributor’s work is respected and think of it, shouldn’t it be?
Goswami also points out that the beneficiaries of such shows are few and far between. “Public memory is short, here. After their victories or promising performances, the participants are forgotten. Koi ek-aadh ubhar ke aata hai.”
But this was not the case earlier. Sunidhi Chauhan, Arijit Singh, Shreya Ghoshal, Bigg Boss 14’s Rahul Vaidya and a few others are all products of reality shows.
Saroj Khan was asked to favour some contestants, claims daughter Sukaina
Legendary Saroj Khan’s daughter Sukaina tells ETimes TV that her mother, after judging some reality shows had stopped accepting them. Sukaina says, “They wanted my mother to favour some contestants because those contestants were paying them. ‘ Isko first rakho, usko second rakho.’ Mom, who was always a blunt person and took a stand against the wrongs around her, said she would rather stand by her ethics than do such biased projects.”
The channel airing ‘Bigg Boss’ not too long ago had offered the show to non-controversial J D Majethia, Chairman of the TV and web wing, Indian Film and TV Producer- on more than one occasion.
“I don’t know about you but I am definitely amused. Emphasising that ‘Bigg Boss’ or ‘Splitsvilla‘ or ‘Roadies‘ cannot give any acting offers because acting is not judged by how you fight or throw plates or mouth abuses, Majethia says, “Arre Juhi Parmar (Season 5) and Urvashi Dholakia (Season 6) getting shows after ‘Bigg Boss’ because they won it? Certainly not. They are getting work because they have a good track record as far as their body of work goes.”
According to Majethia, “The 2-year contracts with the channel can make lives. Look at Rahul Vaidya (who is now also in ‘Bigg Boss 14’). Uski toh life ban gayi after he appeared in ‘Indian Idol, Season 1’. Till today, he earns well from his shows and some of the shows he does are on big platforms with Sonu Nigam!”
Aashka Goradia, however, feels that reality shows work worldwide and this is simply because “people enjoy seeing other people’s misfortune, which is a psychological problem.”
You get paid to tarnish your image: Dolly Bindra former Bigg Boss contestant
Bollywood choreographer Ganesh Acharya, who was being chased to become a judge, has turned down many reality shows. Hinting that the music contests look all similar, Acharya also laments that the dancing on Indian television is not something that he offers in the Bollywood films where his services are required. ” Woh shows meri dance se alag hain,” he clarifies.
Dolly Bindra says that a lot of filmmakers chased her even to Delhi where she was shooting soon after she came out of ‘Bigg Boss 4’. “But those were short term gains and I got really typecast after that. Everybody wanted me to play a negative role. Dolly does not regret doing ‘Bigg Boss’ but comes up with a very hard-hitting line, “We are paid on such shows to tarnish our image.”
Producer of shows like ‘Ace of Space‘ and ‘Code Red’ Vikas Gupta, who was also seen in ‘Bigg Boss 13′, disagrees, “If the contestants are careful, I don’t see how a show can tarnish their image? The belief that reality shows tarnish your image is false,’ he tells ETimes TV.
Meanwhile, Koena Mitra, who was quite annoyed when she was eliminated from ‘Bigg Boss 13’ in two weeks, is still calling a spade a spade. “Reality shows on Indian television will always work. People like chaos and debates and the bursting of the bubble. A lot of people who’re inside the show end up doing things that they shouldn’t be doing. The viewers in turn become curious if they can see anything lower than that. They may not even like it and in fact, dislike it. So it’s a win-win situation for TV producers.”
Aashka Goradia has also mellowed down from the day when she lashed out at the ‘Bigg Boss Season 6’ show when she felt that it had painted her as a lesbian as she applied balm on co-contestant Sana Khan’s back and now says that the people who hate the show would do well to stay away from it rather than complain.
“I think ‘Bigg Boss woh shaadi wala ladoo hai jo khao toh bhi pachtao aur nahi khao toh bhi pachtao’. But can I tell you something? Today, our reality shows are more real than the people who are entering it.”
These shows, however, somehow make the youngsters’ adrenaline flow. 28-year-old Chetna Pande, who participated in ‘Ace of Space’ says, “No, our reality shows are not scripted. In such shows, our real personality comes out sooner or later. The people connect with you better than before, your followers on social media increase. You can get work in the form of appearances- like look at Divya Agarwal and Varun Sood for one. Shruti Sinha and Baseer Ali also are doing well. Post ‘Ace of Space’, I got ‘Class of 2020’ and then I also did a web show.”
Pratik Sehajpal, ex-boyfriend of Bigg Boss 14 contestant Pavitra Punia, who was the runner-up to Divya Agarwal in ‘Ace of Space’, endorses Chetna’s views with an explanation, “An increase in your social media popularity is invariable but I am clear that reality shows are not scripted. It’s only for some contestants who come with a pre-conceived idea that they need to exhibit a certain image that one tends to get an impression that the show is manipulated; they get dramatic and percolate a feeling that the shows have a rigid script.”
Are wedding theme shows a hoax ?
‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’s’ 29-year-old Ankita Srivastava is also not against reality shows but quite positive about them as ‘MSK’ helped her to gain a lot of followers on social media. Ankita says, “Despite having a verified account, I had only 24K followers on Instagram. When I exited the show, I had 100K. And now, I have 174K followers. Also, our reality shows help us to look at ourselves clearly, we have many fixed ideas in our heads but participating in reality shows makes you realise that some or maybe even many of those ideas are misplaced.”
22-year-old Shivani Jha, who was a part of ‘MSK’ before it ended abruptly owing to COVID-19, says, “I had heard that reality shows are all scripted but after ‘MSK’, I certainly don’t endorse that opinion. I had it clear in my mind that I was going into the show to not get married but to just be seen on TV.”
Lack of originality
Dalljiet Kaur, former contestant of Bigg Boss 13, who has participated in Nach Baliye earlier says earlier it was not the case – sobs and tears were real but not any longer. “Nach Baliye; ‘aaj audiences know ki ek couple ka break-up hoga hi hoga‘. When I did ‘Nach Baliye’ in 2008 (Season 4), I remember how petrified we were when Farah Khan, Arjun Rampal and Karisma Kapoor actually walked out, when I couldn’t be ready for two dances in one go as I hadn’t got time due to my constant shoots of two shows wherein I was playing the leads. Back then, we had actually cried and apologised to Farah, Arjun and Karisma. But does that happen in real nowadays, isn’t all such done to shoot up the TRPs? In today’s times, the public almost knows what is going to happen next.”
She further says: “Coming to ‘Bigg Boss 14’, Nikki Tamboli saying inside the house that she can’t wash the utensils because of her acrylic nails was such a pre-planned statement and so was her statement that she’s missing her BF and hence wants to wear his T-shirt. So, what’s original? Nothing. Trust me, Paras Chhabra had advised me to break a ‘matki’ as that would help me to draw attention – but I did not. If I had stayed longer, who knows I too might have learnt a few tricks of the trade.”
Anup Jalota has something similar to say. He comes in to give an example of how hungry the participants are to get the camera on themselves. “When I was in ‘Bigg Boss’ (Season 12 ), Sreesanth would climb up so many times and threaten to jump out.”
Referring to Dalljiet’s point of view that contestants smartly prepare their portrayals to get more on-screen footage, we ask Jalota how he felt when Jasleen Matharu used his name in ‘Bigg Boss 12’ and said that they were in a relationship when they were about to step into the house, but Jalota brushed it off, saying, “Mere andar gusse ka element bilkul absent hai.”
Not to forget the maara-maari in ‘Roadies’ and ‘Splitsvilla’, Neha Dhupia had said when a person is judging a reality TV show, statements are made, misrepresented and taken out of context. In April this year, Neha made quite some noise about a ‘bola kuch aur, dikhaya kuch aur’ incident. “Unfortunately, a small chunk of what I said in ‘Roadies’ was kind of highlighted, whereas what I was trying to imply was the fact that under no circumstances is domestic violence okay and therefore I think only half of it was picked up,” she had lamented. Dhupia had a harrowing time as she was mercilessly trolled. But did she speak to the channel in question, MTV? We only saw her carrying on with the next episode. Hope the channel apologised to her, preferably in writing!
All said and done, it is clear that extreme reactions and high-drama on Indian reality shows grab eyeballs, irrespective of the damage they may cause!
Stakes are high and moral values and reputations not cared about. It’s not the survival of the fittest but the survival of someone who has the ability to impress his superiors at work even if that tantamounts to crushing someone’s reputation. And of course, sabse bada rupaiya! Wonder if there will ever come a day when reality shows become truly REAL !

Bollywood choreographer Ganesh Acharya has recently been accused by a 33 year old female choreographer of depriving her of work and also for forcing her to watch adult videos.
The woman also accused the choreographer of asking for a commission in her income.
Now, Ganesh has come out in open and blames Saroj Khan and her team for doing all this to malign his image in the industry.

In an interview with ANI, Ganesh Acharya said, “This is the conspiracy against me to malign my image, there are people like Saroj Khan and her colleagues who are doing corruption in the industry. Their business has flopped as I have entered the association. I will file a defamation case against Saroj Khan and her team who are defaming me and stooping so low to do that, they are doing this because their business has gone in vain they used to earn money sitting at home illegally and I am against it so will put all my efforts to fight against them.”

Just recently Ganesh Acharya was accused by choreographer Saroj Khan for paying the dancers less than the mandates fees, while also using his position to manipulate the dancers and malign the Cine Dancers Association (CDA).“Saroj ji is speaking wrong. When the CDA was closed why did not she came to help us to open it. Five coordinators were appointed for CDA by taking Rs 15 lakh from them. 217 masters have signed a letter that they do not need coordinators. Do the Federation people know dancing.. Do they know who is a good dancer. Saroj ji should come forward to help dancers. There is a need of re-election for the CDA,” Acharaya had told ANI.
Prior to this Ganesh Acharya was named by Tanushree Dutta in her police complaint, wherein she had accused him and Nana Patekar of harassing her during the shoot of the 2008 film ‘Horn Ok Pleassss’. She was shooting for a song with Nana Patekar, which was choreographed by Acharya. “He’s a bloody liar and a two-faced person. He’s going to say all that. And 10 years ago, he was one of those people who were equally complicit in the harassment. He won’t admit it,” said Tanushree referring to Ganesh Acharya in an interview with ANI.
Ganes Acharya has worked with several popular Bollywood stars and choreographed songs for hits films like ‘Simmba’, ‘Sanju’ and ‘Padmaavat’.

‘Lust Stories’ On Netflix Openly Addresses Sexual Taboos That Bollywood Generally Shies Away From By Radhika Menon  Jun 20, 2018
Lust is a complex entity. By definition, it hinges upon strong sexual desires. It’s that workplace crush that stems from an off-chance interaction, or that run-in with a stranger in the cereal aisle that transports you to another dimension. Lust manifests into weekday daydreams and weekend one-night stands and everyday dating-app-swiping. But a case can be made for the emotional shitstorm that may accompany it. Lust can make us obsessive, animalistic, and ruthless in our physical pursuit; it can also leave us broken when the sexual cravings blur with the emotional. This whirlwind of emotions is the thematic playground for the new Hindi-language Netflix original film Lust Stories, which is now streaming on the platform.
The anthology film from four of India’s most prominent directors (Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar, Dibakar Banerjee, and Karan Johar) explores the themes of sex and attraction in its many forms, and places them in modern-day India where these types of conversations don’t normally occur. Each director’s short film focuses on a stigma — whether it’s a possessive relationship between a teacher and student, a forbidden tryst between members of two different social classes, an adulterous marriage, or an exploration of sexual satisfaction — and dives deep into the various perspectives at play.
Lust Stories falls into a new breed of Bollywood filmmaking that openly addresses taboo topics that the typically prude industry generally shies away from. Just earlier this month, the film Veere Di Wedding featured a female masturbation scene that generated simultaneous controversy and conversation. Despite the reactions, the film helped to cement the new direction of modernization within the culture — something that Lust Stories capitalizes on.
The opening story from director Kashyap is a great tone-setting piece because it embodies lust’s primal, batshit crazy energy. Kashyap’s vignette follows a manic teacher as she engages in a destructive relationship with her bumbling student. Starring Radhika Apte (pictured at left), the story moves at breakneck speed in a twisted version of will-they-won’t-they that veers from uncomfortable to concerning and back again multiple times throughout its runtime. It’s an incredible showcase for Apte whose range is on display, showing shades of deceit and earnestness all wrapped up in a cloak of manipulation.
Kashyap’s piece fades into Akhtar’s, which opens with a surprisingly explicit sex scene — especially by Bollywood standards. As the layers are slowly peeled back, that sexual centerpiece speaks volumes about both India’s class system and the way that men tend to classify sexual partners as either a hook-up or marriage material. Akhtar was the only female director involved with the project, and the female perspective is apparent; Akhtar’s direction elegantly paints the broad strokes of how one person’s consideration of a purely physical relationship dances with the other person’s emotions. It made for my favorite segment if only because the complicated entanglement felt sadly relatable.
Banerjee’s film continued the thread of romantic entanglements, taking a look at a dissolving marriage and delving into themes of adultery and divorce. The main character, played by Manisha Koirala, shows agency (quite opposite to the main woman of Akhtar’s segment), taking control of her unhappiness and kneading it in order to get what she wants from both of the men in her life. Sex is used to her advantage, even when her actions are unforgivable.
Each 40-minute segment of Lust Stories showcases moments of sexual freedom but none push the boundaries further than Johar’s segment. Focused on a newly married couple’s sex life, Johar balances sexual satisfaction alongside the antiquated idea that sex is only important as a tool for procreation. His vignette is comedic in depicting how clueless men can be (a recurring scene shows the wife counting on one hand the number of seconds until her husband finishes) and thoughtful in exploring the waters of female sexual satisfaction (even if she has to do it herself). The themes of this short film are by far the most daring, and it’s even more powerful coming from as prolific a filmmaker as Johar.
Most romantic films end with a happy ending, a satisfying conclusion to a love story. But there’s a reason Lust Stories chose this messy territory as its focus: lust is all-consuming and sex is complicated but the stories are rich and entertaining. Hopefully Lust Stories will educate and force discussion in the still-maturing public sphere of India and its diaspora around the world. But if nothing else, it showcases Indian filmmaking at its best as a vessel for universal storytelling.

Owing to uncleared accounts of Padmavati’s existence and scarce resources of a clearly etched history,it becomes terribly astounding to provoke in violence and armament leading to large scale vandalization and also raising accusation on Bollywood actors and film producers.I mean ,living in the 21st century of wise men and women ,how can an obscure group of people suddenly rise up and explicitly target over issues of public interests,here proclaiming movie culture.Well that’s flabbergasting to charge an offensive protest(that includes violence and weapon dealing) in demand of protecting doubtful sequences of unleashed history and irrespective of that,I believe movie culture is a form of art ,culture and creativity amalgamation,that has little to do with real world interjections and even if an imaginative history is being performed and for the decoration of its availment ,a string of scenes have been included to please the audience and increase its entertainment rating without doing any harm to the emotional or sentimental temperament of any kind of audience ,it is okay to persue on the same .
Moreover the topic of Padmavati has already been overrated  and gained enough momentum only to increase its buzz at the time of release.
