I’ve been thinking and wondering 🤔 if they do increase Lilia’s life span, it’s probably not going to be hundreds of years. It will probably be longer but not as long as that (though I wish it were, because I know he wanted to see Malleus become king, etc)

So then if they do increase it, or maybe the years he has left is less than a hundred years, but as Malleus said; Lilia doesn’t want any one of them wasting their time on him when they could be living their life to the fullest.

In either case, wouldn’t it be heart breaking and yet poetic, for Lilia and Silver to have lived their life and then died at the same time? 🤔

Though if that’s the case, I wouldn’t be able to be as strong as Malleus, because loosing my father and brother at the same time?? That would break me if I was in his shoes 💔😭

You can also imagine the heartbreak Sebek would go through if his aging slowed down too you know? The pain he would feel.

But then, it also makes me wonder 🤔, it could also be half a century or the “remainder” of human years.

Because the whole point of his actions is that Lilia wants his sons to move on, to enjoy life, make bonds, and be happy. See life to the fullest as he has, enjoy life with the same joy his boys has brought him. He wants the same for them 🥹

In the end, it might just be that. Lilia living like a “human” seeing his boys grow and become the fine men they are and being proud of them all the while.

As any parent would.

Because isn’t that a parent’s wish? To see their children grow up, see them come into their own, know they will be fine, and once the time comes, they can happily pass with a smile. 🥹😭💞

Imagine you're Lilia, you see your childhood best friend and princess die, your other childhood best friend goes missing, and now the royal bloodline is at risk because now there's only an egg that can't even hatch. After 300 years that egg hatches and you spend 100 and a half years raising him to be a king and continue the bloodline.

Then when everything seems to be okay and going great, you see how one day, a random human, that spawned at NRC, tells Malleus to drink the Grimace shake and he does, and then he dies. That's it, the end of the Draconia bloodline and all because Malleus drank a McDonald's shake because he's a simp and does everything Yuu tells him to do.

RIP Malleus Draconia you will be remembered as the simp you always were... 😢

— you aren’t exactly sure how to bring up the concept of marriage to the malleus draconia. you feel almost like a plebeian next to your lover, who’s so regal and beautiful to the point of it being intimidating—but hey, you’ve never let that get in the way of you before, and you don’t intend to start now of all times. and, it may be a bit too soon to ask for his hand in marriage anyway.. but even still, you found yourself practicing your origami to make a promise ring out of paper you kept handy.

— although, despite your newly made paper ring now held in your clasped hand, you still weren’t actually sure how to go about it. malleus is right beside you, dusk settling in as you walk around night raven campus, conversing about gargoyles and the like, though you weren’t quite paying attention. nothing against your dear dragon fae of course, but your mind has long since strayed to how to ask him for his hand in future marriage. well, in theory it should be simple, right? take him by the hands and say, ‘my dear malleus, would you like to marry me in the future? i promise i can make you happy!’

Lilia’s Relationship with Malleus and Silver / The Image of a King Upheld by Malleus

Book 7 spoilers

So I’m just thinking about Lilia and his complicated relationship with Malleus and Silver. Literally, it’s at two ends of the spectrum how his relationship is with each of them.

On one hand, he raised Malleus to be a king. He had placed lines between himself and Malleus to a certain degree. He protected him and installed in him the knowledge to be a great king and what is expected of him. Even at the end of book 6, we see Lilia say how a future king shouldn’t be getting lost in his thoughts. And for just a few moments, you can see how that kind of upsets Malleus a bit before he agrees.

Then we have Silver, Lilia found this baby as far as we know, and raised him. He wasn’t raising a future king. There was no expectations or rules when it came to caring for Silver. He just raised him as best as he could and he loved the child and the child loved him in return. To the point of wanting to do his father proud, and also wanting to always be there for him.

You can see the two different ways that Lilia raised and cared for them, and they, in return loved him.

On one hand, I can see Malleus being envious. Envious of the love Silver received compared to him. But he’s not, rather it was Silver crying that tipped Malleus over, because he loves Silver as well.

While Silver wanted to make up for all the love that Lilia always showed him and be there for him till the end but he can’t even do that.

All because Lilia freaking Vanrouge decided that he didn’t want people he loves to suffer the same way he did when he lost loved ones. So, he leaves. Causing a cascade of heartbreak.

Now going back to Malleus, I think about all those years he had with Lilia, but I think about how lonely he might have felt even with those years. He loved Lilia and Lilia loved him…within limitations. He was after all raising the future king. But then remember, Lilia wasn’t always at Malleus’ side. He would leave on adventures while Malleus was at home. And little Malleus would look forward to his return. He would be happy to see Lilia and hear all the stories he would return with and the little souvenirs and I imagine seeing Lilia happy was what made it worth the wait for his return and maybe even what stopped Malleus from being selfish and telling Lilia to stay.

Because that’s how he was being raised, think about the happiness of others, respect their wishes, think about the peoples’ wants…that’s what it means to be a king and the sacrifices that needs to be made.

But it would hurt Malleus wouldn’t it? But Malleus can never show it because even those closest to him expected greatness from him. Expected him to be this great figure that would take over for his grandmother. He will be a King.

So, is it not expected then? For Malleus to, at one point, reach that tipping point?

And that tipping point was at the hurt he saw in his loved ones which reflected his own. Which finally allowed him to express his own.

Because a king can’t fall to his own emotions, but he can for others.

A king can make sacrifices so others can be happy.

So, won’t you let him show you a happy ending?

Even at the cost of his life?
