🏳️‍🌈 Note : ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 🏳️‍🌈 #instalivre #beautifulbooks #bookphotography #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookgeek #instareads #booktography #bookgasm #livrestagram #bouquiner #litterature #lire #lectrice #instalivre #livreaddict #pride #pridemonth #lgbt #bisexual #lgbtbooks🏳️‍🌈 https://www.instagram.com/p/CeakLn3qIh2/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

I don't actually mind when fanfiction gets turned into book form...as long as it is worth reading and it makes some effort to not be a ripoff of the original story. When it comes right down to it, this book and the series that it belongs to just aren't worth reading and they have obvious issues with copying from other books, as well as television and movie series. I tried not to read up on the series or its writer before I started reading these books. I know that there was some serious drama-llamaing a few years ago on LiveJournal, but I tried to ignore that and be as objective as possible while reading these stories. So when I say that I didn't like the stories, I don't mean that I don't like the author's past, I just mean that I found the stories to be seriously lacking in many ways. They aren't well-written at all. Even though the story's plot may seem original, it isn't. I would suggest readers watch at least the first two movies in The Prophecy franchise, as well as read the books in the Harry Potter series (where the fanfiction version of this originated), Star Wars, and the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I almost started a list while reading this of all the episodes, movies, and books where a scene would be swiped from. Her inability to come up with an original plot wasn't the only thing wrong with the writing. The actual writing was bad. It was choppy. I would read a sentence, then have to take a break and try to go on to the next sentence. It felt like English wasn't really even her first language. And the editing, don't get me started on that. The errors in this book were just so shocking. The characters weren't all that interesting. They were so trope-y and stereotypical. There is no growth by any of them. If anything, they actually get worse as the story goes on. I was offended by the way that Magnus is basically portrayed as a slut because he's bisexual. Bisexual characters always get that kind of treatment in books, and that's a major reading pet peeve of mine. And the incestuous nature of the lead characters' relationship is just grotesque. I don't care if they end up finding out that they aren't siblings or not. Incest is not sexy. And I feel like this series almost tries to glamorize it. I cannot understand how this book is popular or even liked by anyone. It's awful. It's offensive. If you haven't read it already, please don't waste your time in checking it out. It really isn't worth it. via Janet's bookshelf: read http://bit.ly/19ijbaW

📚 𝗕𝗟𝗢𝗚 𝗧𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗥𝗘𝗩𝗜𝗘𝗪 📚 𝗔𝗪𝗔𝗞𝗘𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗣𝗢𝗪𝗘𝗥 𝗢𝗙 𝗦𝗘𝗟𝗙-𝗣𝗨𝗕𝗟𝗜𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗚: 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗨𝗟𝗧𝗜𝗠𝗔𝗧𝗘 𝗚𝗨𝗜𝗗𝗘 by Rudo Muchoko ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Today i am sharing my thoughts on Awakening The Power Of Self -Publishing as part of the blog tour hosted by Random Things Tours. Thank you for my stop on the tour and for the advanced copy of the book. 𝗠𝗬 𝗥𝗘𝗩𝗜𝗘𝗪 As an aspiring author, self-publishing is something I have wanted to learn about. Along comes what the author calls ' The Ultimate Guide', neatly packaged into a 60 page book. Each different topic is clearly marked which, as it is jam packed with information, makes it easy to follow and dip in and out of as required. As a complete novice I found the book to be informative about things I wanted to know, and those things that I didn't even know that I didn't know. There were one or two items that left me wishing for more explanation, but in a guide this small, you would be hard pushed to squeeze any more information into the pages. Overall, I was impressed by this guide which has given me some brilliant ideas should I decide to self publish my book. Now I just have to finish writing it! I gave Awakening The Power Of Self-Publishing: The Ultimate Guide, by Rudo Muchoko, four stars. @rwashe_m @rmpublishers @randomthingstours #awakeningthepowerofselfpublishing #bookreader #bookpost #selfpublishing #rudomuchoko #bookblogger #bookishcommunity #booksofinstagram #booklover #bookreaders #bookgasm #booknerd #bookreviews #booksarelife #bookstagramcommunity #bookish #books #booksbooksbooks #bookstagramming #bookreaderscommunity #bookstagrammers #bookreviewersofinstagram #bookquotes #reading #readingislife #readingaddict #readingisessential #readersofinstagram #readerstagram #goodreadschallenge2023 (at Southampton, England, U.K.) https://www.instagram.com/p/CplMdTordEE/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

✨✨ Rating: 5/5 Stars ✨✨
The final book, Ruthless Vows, delivers a satisfying conclusion to the war and Iris and Roman's story.
While some reviewers have noted that Ruthless Vows feels different from its predecessor, Divine Rivals, this only adds to the intrigue and unpredictability of the narrative. The characters remain true to themselves, and the writing is as beautiful as ever.
Rebecca Ross's skillful character development is on full display in Ruthless Vows. Iris and Roman grow as individuals and a couple, each finding unique ways to stop Dacre from taking over Oath. The world-building is also expanded in fascinating ways, particularly Dacre's army and underground lair.
In short, Letters of Enchantment has earned a coveted spot on my all-time favorite series list. The prose, world-building, and unforgettable characters have stayed with me long after I turned the final page.
If you are looking for a captivating duology that will keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end, pick up the Letters of Enchantment duology.

What are your thoughts on the way that Volsung Fa and the Obsidian plotline got resolved? (Because I loved it and wanted to know what you thought)
I am not going to lie, my brain had an bookgasm. A very long, satisfying one.
Tumblr media
I loved that there were parallels between Darrow and Volsung, as well as Darrow and Atlas and Darrow and Lysander. And from then on the build up to the resolution started and it was flawless. Absolutely amazing feat of writing.
Darrow's growth reaches new heights when he finally finds his own path:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I knew it will happen. This, the growth, the finsing of himself among all the darkness that has swallowed him, all the bullshit thrown at him, he is all-enduring. For the Reaper may be broken, the Reaper may be delayed, but Darrow is never ruined, never lost.
Darrow has always been inspiring, even when hopeless and loving even when scorned. I feel like Light Bringer is the book when Darrow and Reaper can coexist somehow. He does not see his heart as something he must hide for battle, he is not the lock that keeps the box of horrors shut, he does not put away the key. He is also realistic, capable and apt at what he does - he will do his duty, he will do his utmost, his will shift paradigms - and now has found the joy in it too. Unlike Cassius, he never seemed to enjoy fencing, for him it was always do or die on the battlefield. I doubt he will ever fence or duel for pleasure, but his style of fighting that he dedicated time to has brought him joy and a connection with himself that he thought lost forever.
I knew that if someone can bring light, it is Darrow. For he is an eternal spring of love, he keeps on giving.
Also, he is THEE daddiest, daddy of the Solar System. So fucking daddy, it hurts. He daddied so hard, he Daddy Red God.
Now, unto Obsidians.
I knew Volga would be easy pickings for manipulations. That is why Ephraim tried to spare her any interaction with either Sefi or Volsung. He knew - after all the trauma he himself inflicted upon her, he must have known the sort of cultist court of Vomsung would have been damaging to her.
I was happy to get more information on the Obsidians and their rituals and have Darrow fight as legitimate brother of Sefi and Ragnar, declared so under the Spires. Tyr Morga saves the day, but did not use that to claim superiority over them. I think he felt he owed Ragnar a debt - hence why he kept the beard and shaved it after the deed was done. The mourning period ended, he assured a future for the Obsidians.
The Ascomani guy who took a look at Darrow, saw the ashwar markings and went back to his food was the book's mvp.
Lyria and Volga stans were fed so well. I loved the cxonplexity both underwent in such a zhort and believable amout of time.
The best of all was Darrow's pov however. Why?
Ephraim about Volsung: Horror, terror, pain.
Darrow about Volsung:
Tumblr media
The WORST thing that happened? Alexandar was not there. Darrow will not teach his archLancer how to bypass any other style via his own style. Alexandar au Arcos was compared to a Lykos dancer, the wind of the deepmines would have welcomed him. The Breath of Stone would have shined by his movements, as his own eyes would have shined with wonder as his father outdid his grandfather.
Now I want Blood Feud.
I have MANY thoughts, but this is getting too long 😅

author: Jennifer Castle name: Janet average rating: 3.74 book published: 2011 rating: 3 read at: 2013/10/18 date added: 2013/10/18 shelves: awesome-cover, read-in-2013, triggers, alcohol-or-dui, america, amnesia, annoying-characters, bad-boy, awkward-friendships, bad-parents, bittersweet, contemporary, contemporary-romance, dating, death-and-dying, depression, disturbing-content, dysfunctional-family, divorce, easy-read, family-drama, friends-to-lovers, friendship, geeks, goody-two-shoes, good-friends, heart-breaking, high-school, holiday, hypocrisy, judaism, lesser-known-books, library-books, loss-of-child, misguided-friends, neighbors, new-adult, new-england, orphans, opposites-attract, ptsd, realistic-fiction, secrets, self-discovery, shy, sick-relatives, unrequited-love, virginity, young-adult review: This was a pretty good book. That being said, there was nothing truly remarkable about it. Yes, it made me cry, but given the subject matter, that was sort of a given. If it hadn't made me cry, I probably would have worried. It isn't bad or poorly written. It's very easy to read, so the problem isn't that it's hard to follow. It's also pretty realistic. The problem is that in order for me to think of a book as being truly great, it needs to grab me. It needs to make something deep in me shift in some way. This didn't. It had nothing truly extraordinary about it. I wanted to love it. I really did, but it just wasn't that great. To me, when a book doesn't really inspire you in some way or leave you feeling like something about your world has been changed, then I end up feeling like I've wasted my time. via Janet's bookshelf: read http://ift.tt/16V6TYf
