The best book I’ve read so far this year is Martyr! by Kaveh Akbar.
When poets write novels I always get very excited because they enter into their contract with words in a different way to other writers, with a certain level of distrust of language’s abilities, with an understanding of the disappointing paradox in metaphors, and with a playful abandon for convention.
This book is a great example of all of those things. It tore me open so many times and put me back together again, too. It’s got everything — family, identity, death, nationality, history, death, art, politics, death, love, war, did I mention death, and dreams where the dead speak to cartoon characters

i love books with traumatized character who don’t suddenly “get better” by the end, the ones who still suffer despite the story being over and needing to continue living their life with the trauma they hold
bc a happy ending doesn’t mean that you are suddenly healed of all your trauma and history

my fatal flaw is that I fall in love with books that have no fandom/ small/ inactive fandom.

100 Days of Productivity [Day: 74] || 100 Jours de Productivité [Jour: 74]
maybe it's alright if I admit that I'm tired. today, though. just today.
it's interesting how you can cram an immense amount of things into one day & still feel like you haven't done much when you finally get some downtime. I've been splitting my days between my studies, freelance work, & now preparatory things for my job. 4:30am to rise & not getting to bed until sometime past 10. this is why I'm deeply grateful I keep a journal. it allows me to look back & remind myself that I really have done enough.
currently listening // Someone by TSS

Platonic Love
In the garden of platonic love,
Where souls dance in harmony,
Not bound by earthly desires,
But by the melody of empathy.
Each glance, a verse of understanding,
Each touch, a stroke of sincerity,
In this realm where hearts entwine,
In the sacred dance of camaraderie.
No need for vows or sweet caresses,
For in this bond, purity thrives,
A sanctuary where spirits soar,
In the symphony of platonic lives.
Like stars that shimmer in the night,
So do these friendships, bright and true,
Guiding us through life's darkest hours,
With love that's steadfast, pure, and new.
