Books I associate with songs.

These associations is usually i listened to the song on repeat when i was reading the book or the song reminds me of a character or setting in the book.

1) Windswept By Gwen Cole- Lost Sky-Dreams pt. 2 (ft Sara Skinner)

I listened to this song on repeat when I reread this book and I think I associate this song with it is because the sound of it reminds me of the relationship between Sam and Reid and how they connected with each other in such strange circumstances.

2) The Diviner by Libba Bray- ��Oh Anna and Little Pistol By Mother Mother

Both of these songs are associated with this book purely because they were the songs I was hyperfixiated on when reading this book.

3)Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo- Trouble by Valerie Broussard 

There is an animation (https://youtu.be/Ab4FS_6pZLk ) by Empty Feet on youtube and after watching it this song brings the memory up.

4) The Maximum Ride Series By James Patterson- Let it Ride by Automatic Love Letter and Against the World by Morgan Page 

The First one is because it reminds me of Max. The second one is because it reminds me of of the flock and how the world is against them. It also gives off some dystopian vibes.

5) The Bone Witch by Rin Chupeco- Cringe by Matt Mason and Demons by Jacob Lee

Same Deal with the Diviners. I was very into these songs when I read this first book, it also had a similar vibe in my opinion.

6)The Raven Cycle Series by Maggie Stievater- Devil on my Shoulder by Faith Marie

This song reminds me so much of the book series especially these lines:

Chased by the sun Escaping flatlines Dreams are a curse Wake up you're alive

There are more but i feel if you just listen to it,it'll become clear.

The Pretties by Scott Westerfield- Mr.DoctorMan by Palaye Royale 

I discovered this band and song two years ago when I read this book. It helped make the reading experience bearable.

Finished this shattering book. (Do you see what I did there?) And then proceeded to add the rest of the series to my tbr list. Intriquing plot, funny characters, multiple troubled parts, and a ship that I will go down with to the very end. What more could you want 😄😄😄

Q: What's your favorite book that focuses on music?. I feel like there are so many coming out these days and it makes me SO happy! I love music, and I love reading about music - and I recently finished The Final Revival of Opal & Nev and it was fantastic. Highly recommend this one as an #audiobook, as its a full cast of narrators!. I went into this not knowing too much about it, and that’s how I would recommend you go into it as well. Journalist S. Sunny Shelton, a Black woman and editor in chief of a magazine, decides her next project will be to interview Opal Jewel, Neville Charles, and everyone associated with them and their band from the 1970s, as there are talks of a reunion show happening, and she believes their history is worth telling. This story takes place in the present with characters telling their point of views in various years in the 1960s and 70s, when ‘Opal & Nev’ began. I see comparisons of Opal & Nev to Daisy Jones & The Six, and while both books do tell a fictional music history of different groups, Opal & Nev is very, very different from Daisy Jones, and the characters are nothing alike – the similarities end at the music aspect. It’s honestly hard to believe this is fiction while you’re reading it, it all feels so real and I want to look up this band and these people and learn about them – but alas, this isn’t a real band. That says a lot about the author that Walton can make you feel how real this story is. For this #ThrowbackThursday let’s chat again about how music makes a scene. Now to tell the truth, I only watched the first season of Vampire Diaries, but this scene at the end of the pilot episode has always stuck with me. Why? Because the use of Placebo’s “Running Up That Hill” (originally written and recorded by the amazing Kate Bush), made it so powerful. I often think about how different this scene could have been if they hadn’t picked the right song. . This version of the song was also used in an important episode of the show “Bones” - also at another pivotal moment in the series. . What do you think? Does music powerfully impact a scene for you?
