I really really wonder how ppl live without hyperfixations.
I look at my mom, finishing reading her third book this month. She said she enjoyed it.
"That's it?" I think "You enjoyed it? And you don't imagine scenes from it late at night? You're not frustrated with the characters' stupid choices? You don't want to talk to other people about how much you loved that one plot twist? It didn't change you as a person?"
people who don't experience hyperfixation don't know what it feels like to hyperfixate so much on something that it becomes not only your subject of obsession but also your source of happiness and literally the main reason why you still keep going; literal source of strength and life.
shoutout to my favorite fictional characters, favorite people, favorite ships, favorite movies, favorite tv shows, fanfics and archive of our own

BOOK REVIEW:
“White Nights” by Fyodor Dostoyevsky
(Penguin Little Black Classic, a.k.a. the most compact way to feel emotionally obliterated in public)
“I’m a dreamer; I have so little real life…”
That line alone could be tattooed across the ribcage of every overthinking, romantically-inclined, loneliness-soaked twentysomething I know.
White Nights is one of those tiny books that rips you open gently. Just 80-ish pages of a nameless narrator spiraling through love, memory, and metaphysical yearning under the St. Petersburg moon—and yet it wrecked me harder than most novels three times its size.
It’s about the ache of youth. The kind of naïve wisdom that believes in love after one walk and two glances. It’s about being so introspective you forget how to live. About feeling like life is happening to everyone except you. It’s dreamy and desperate and so, so human.
Dostoyevsky’s narrator doesn’t live in reality—he lives in emotional footnotes. He talks about youth like it’s a distant country, but he’s clearly still trapped in it. Romanticizing solitude while quietly begging someone to see him.
My annotated copy is full of rainbow tabs, clinging to quotes like:
• “I just can’t help re-living such moments as these in my dreams.”
• “And you ask yourself: where are your dreams? And you shake your head and say: how quickly do the years fly by! And again ask yourself: what have you done with the years? Where have you buried your best days? Did you live or not?”
• “I see people, but nevertheless I am alone.”
If you’ve ever felt like the loneliest person in a crowd…
If you’ve ever loved someone more in your imagination than in real life…
If you’ve spent more time organizing your life into Pinterest moodboards than actually living it—read this.
5/5 stars

I like my books like I like my coffee — existential and over-annotated.
