So, first of all, I fucking love the Linden and Colton series. I'm getting into archiving fic and I chose it for the first thing I print out and annotate and keep forever. I love that Linden crochets, I think its a very nice little detail that shows a lot about his character in a small amount of space. Having said that, as someone who both knits and crochets, I do have to note. Crochet is done with one hook, knitting is done with two needles, two hooked crochet doesn't exist afaik

first of all, thank you so much and holy shit!!! would you ever share some of the annotations you make? I'm so flattered (and also so curious)!!!

secondly, FUCK!!! I even asked my crocheting gf to tell me how it works and I still fucked it up, hahahahaha. let me go and quickly edit that before I die of shame. thank you for telling me😭😭

As you pet his head, a twisted, little voice whispers in your head. You have all this power. This feels good. You like this. And that terrifies you.

A man is being hurt. You are the one hurting him. You feel horrible and regretful of everything that has happened. You hate that you’ve continued the suffering of this person, of Rat. You’ve helped him become more and more removed from his original identity, his original name, whatever it was.

But at the same time, to have this much control over someone is exhilarating. No wonder Virginia does this so often. No wonder so many of her guests enjoy these kinds of parties. It’d be so easy to slip into the mindset that Rat deserves this. He clearly messed up somehow, was stupid enough to get on Virginia’s bad side, and now he’s paying the price.

Not you, though. You’ve played it safe enough to still be a guest and not the entertainment.

The twisted inner voice tells you that you deserve to reap the rewards of staying on Virginia’s side when Rat hadn’t. You are on the top of food chain, might as well enjoy it, no?

Besides it’s not like you’re actually hurting him. You’re just playing around with some drugs. It’s not real. There’s nothing wrong with this.

No. No! It’d be so easy to let yourself enjoy this fully, without regret, but you can’t. He is a person. A human being. He doesn’t deserve to suffer for one little mistake. He doesn’t deserve to suffer at all, no matter what he did, right?

Kitsu walked tentatively up the stairs after Hiral and followed her into her dressing room. They still weren’t quite used to walking on flat ground, let alone spiral stairs. But Mistress Hiral had ordered them to walk and all they wanted was her approval. They did like the feeling of the cool marble under their feet, though.

“Come along, my pretty fox. We’re going to get you dressed up so that you look all pretty to show off to my friends.” Hiral said, resting her hand on the small of Kitsu’s back while they walked, helping them remain steady. They blinked and tried not to melt into her touch so they wouldn’t fall over.

Hiral smiled at them as they walked into a huge room where every wall  and the domed ceiling was covered in mirrors. They blinked as hundreds of themself and their mistress appeared. Hiral held their hand and helped them stand on the raised platform in the middle of the room before sitting on one of the red velvet couches.

She snapped he fingers and suddenly several of the mirrors flew open, and two nekomimis in matching maid outfits walked out carrying all manners of dresses and gowns. The taller nekomimi dark hair and skin and wore their hair in a short, straight pixie cut. The shorter one had long black and white hair as well as well as having white marking that contrasted sharply with her dark skin.

Hiral snapped again and both nekomimis immediately got started on dressing Kitsu in the first outfit.

…Several outfits later…

When the nekomimis stepped away again, Hiral got up from the couch to examine the new outfit.

The nekomimis had tied Kitsu’s hair back into a half-up style with a thick red ribbon and put them into a white robe-like garment with red trim and a matching ribbon around their waist. The dress came down off their shoulders and revealed some of their chest and they had some white silk flats with intricate red embroidery for shoes.

The tall woman circled Kitsu, eyeing them up and down, checking that everything was just so. She lifted a corner of one of the sleeves and felt the fabric. Looking pleased, she walked back around to the front of Kitsu. Her eyes suddenly landed on Kitsu’s barren throat, which she look at disapprovingly.

“Hmm, bring me something for their throat. Something with a bell.” Hiral ordered, not moving her eyes from Kitsu’s throat

The taller nekomimi immediately removed the collar from their neck and handed it to Hiral. It was a ribbon of the same shade of red as the rest of Kitsu’s accessories with a large silver bell and silver clasps in the back.

“This is perfect. Thank you, Beau. I will be sure to give you a new collar soon.” Hiral said, patting Beau’s short, spikey hair

Beau purred softly and wrapped their tail loosely around Hiral’s leg, leaning in for more.

Hiral snapped again and the nekomimis immediately began collecting the outfits that were strewn about the room before bowing out through the mirrors they came in by, which shut behind them instantly.

“Now, little fox, are you ready to meet my friends?”

I think I might delete Fox Ears and start it over from scratch. I don't really like writing this part of the story and I would like to at least restart it from a different place. I'm sorry to anyone this may disappoint. I’m considering remaking it into a lighthearted sitcom. Please let me know if you want me to remove you from the tag list

What, in your opinion, is the difference between a Bad Caretaker and Carewhumper?

I don't like either tropes very much so I may not be the best person to answer, though I'll give my understanding anyway:

Bad Caretaker: is primarily a caretaker, but it's abusive with whumpee, not Just To Be Mean, but because they are an abusive asshole. May gaslight whumpee but may not be aware of it.

Carewhumper: Is a whumper who enjoys both hurting whumpee and "taking care" of them. They are gaslithing whumpee, they know it and they like it.

💊 Forced to swallow pills and/or ⛺️ Field medicine for Ezra!

TW: pills, chronic pain, carewhumper, pet whumpee

Note: I completely forgot this was in my drafts. Here, have some Ezra acting like me on my bad days.

"You have to take some damn pain medication," Christopher said, in that fatherly sort of tone Ezra both loved and hated. "You've been complaining about being in agony all day. Now please, take the ibuprofen."

"If I take one more pill, I'm going to retch," Ezra complained, refusing to look at the bottle of little red pills. "Just thinking about it makes me nauseas."

His body ached in defiance, the muscles in his back spasming around his spine and his feet on the verge of falling asleep. He seemed incapable of keeping good posture, always slouching or stretching, his head tucked or thrown back in frustration.

"I can crush the pills up and put them in some food, if you would prefer," Christopher offered. "But this is non-negotiable"

"That would just make it worse. I've dealt with this stupid pain for years, sir. I don't need meds. I need to drink water and take a nap."

"I am not opposed to either of those treatments. You can lay down after you've taken ibuprofen. I don't know why you're being so defiant."

Ezra felt the last statement like a slap across the face. How he hated to inconvenience or annoy anyone, least of all someone he cared about.

He mutely took the bottle of pills from Christopher. Childproof caps infuriated him to no end, but he eventually got it open and shook two out in his hand.

Taking medications had always been repulsive. He had gotten pills stuck in his throat one too many times to feel entirely comfortable about it. But after downing them with a glass of water, he decided he had put up too much of a fuss for how quickly it was over.

"Thank you," Christopher said. "Now, my dear Ezra, I do think you should lay down. Try to sleep on your back to keep your spine in better alignment."

"Yes sir." Ezra stretched again, everything in his spine and shoulders popping at once. He wished it would stop doing that. "G'night."

Surprise I’m back. Short one this time though, sorry.

You slowly reach a hand out to pet down his chest and stomach, not knowing what else to do. You regret every decision that has lead you here.

But you can’t stop now, and as you continue to pet him, his whimpering and squirming gets worse, and you notice fat tears rolling down his cheeks. You try to dodge every injury on his front (and they were numerous), but petting this area suddenly feels like a bad move.

Resisting the urge to shush and comfort him, you desperately look for an area that maybe won’t hurt as much. The top of his head maybe? Does it have less nerve endings? Also the hair should shield him from feeling it a bit, hopefully.

You reach for his head, hoping this’ll somehow help, and start patting. He whimpers a bit, but doesn’t seem to be in as much pain.

You glance at Virginia. She is watching you intently, but doesn’t seemed very moved one way or another.
