your art really inspires me!!! in a few ways. i'm really in love with your use of shapes and lines, its so nice in a really particular way that resonates with how i want my art to be, and its ALSO really inspiring to see you just. post your own ocs and draw them over and over as much as you want, its so cool. at times ive felt a bit weird about how my main creative drive is often just about my little guys that nobody actually knows- but thats the same thing as anyone whose ever written an amazing story, isnt it? freedom and peace and light on planet earth 😌☀️⭐️
That's such a lovely thing to say, thank you!
But if I'm being honest, and I've mentioned this before, I've also felt weird, embarrassed and guilty about being obsessed with my characters and wanting to draw them over and over again. Somewhere along the line I got really nervous and cautious about sharing any oc content, I didn't want to talk about their lore/stories/backgrounds publicly and I tried to draw them only as a treat between other works. I guess I just thought people were finding them tiring and unrelatable (despite there being no evidence to support that) and that I was being selfish for drawing my own characters so much. I also believed that if I wanted to be a proper artist and develope my skills, I should be making art that looked "frameable", stuff that I could potentially present to people irl. I'm very proud of those pieces but making them didn't feel as creatively and emotionally fulfilling as making character art always is.
Around last May however, after a bad six month art block or so, I just thought I'd be properly self-indulgent for once and draw Machete as much as I liked. Vasco joined him about a month later. And I've been having such good time doodling them, I've been more inspired and productive during this summer and fall than in past five or six years combined. I'm delighted to see how liked they are, and the support and interest they receive continue to fuel my fixation ;_; <3

This is a post for one of my best friends who's been going through a lot for the past few years. I'll go into more details below, but here's the heart of the matter: My friend has a serious auto-immune condition resulting from the long term after effects of cancer treatments (worsened now by the addition of long COVID to her long list of diagnoses). Over the past few years, she's gotten sicker and sicker and has been forced to change her diet from a vegetarian anti-cancer diet (she's a breast cancer survivor, and fought HARD for her health) to one that's become more and more limited as her body becomes allergic to every food one by one. She's now reached a point where one of the last 2 foods that she was able to eat safely, chicken, is causing an allergic reaction; she has to eat it anyway to survive, so is now very sick all the time.
What can you do?
One of the last hopes that she has to turn things around is something called a fecal microbiome transplant, which has worked miracles for other people with similar issues, but cannot currently be accessed through medical channels in the US for any but one (unrelated) condition. It's really easy to do as a DIY treatment though, it's just hard to find a donor: so we are putting it out there to see if one of you might be able and willing to be that person, or know someone who could do it.
Here is what she has to say about the ask:
Finding the right person to do this is difficult, but actually doing the helping is extremely easy and quick if someone was that person! If you live in the continental US and are fortunate enough to have both physical and mental good health (or know someone or have a child who fit the criteria) and are willing, you might be able to change my life! Please consider clicking through to read more and maybe even come aboard...  (For clarity: this isn't a medical procedure or anything, it is literally just donating poop, there are a few specifics but it is very much from the comfort of your home on your own time.)
You can click here to fill out a google form to see if you might be able to be a donor. The questionaire is detailed: fecal transplant is a bizarre and magical thing in which the patient sometimes can even end up acquiring personal preferences from the donor- the gut microbiome (sometimes called the second brain) is incredible! But this means that any illness, chronic issues, or risk factors you carry may also be transferred to the recipient so while it may feel invasive, getting detailed info in very necessary; I am just too sick already to take on any more problems.
A note- yes, it is possible to buy screened and processed treatments even in the US: unfortunately the cost (~$2k per round of treatment) is way outside my reach, particularly given that it isn't really any better than just getting poop directly from a good candidate (proven via studies), and that often it takes trying a couple donors/ rounds to find a match that gets results. If anyone wants to just buy me that stuff, I sure wouldn't say no to that, but given the severity of my situation (medical and financial; I cannot work due to disability) it is likely I will need to do medical fundraising at some point and I am trying to save that for an even worse point. Also if you have that kind of money to help out honestly it would be better spent on specialists or my astronomical food costs. I will cover all costs associated with this process if I find someone though, of course!
Thank you for reading/boosting/etc, please consider sending the link to possible healthy friends or family who might be a fit, or consider whether you have a child fitting the bill you might be willing to enlist- young microbiomes are the best ones, as children's systems have had less time to be ravaged by the effects of the modern world or the simple deterioration of age.

It’s wild how shipping culture has changed so drastically over time on the internet.
In the old days people shipped characters who either had only one line of dialogue with each other, never even met, or not even from the same piece of media. It was the wild west and sure some ships were uncomfortable but people had the mindset to just block the tag and stay away from ships they didn’t enjoy.
Nowadays? It’s more like people have to clarify that their ship isn’t canon compliant, character adjacent, and story irrelevant otherwise they get a flood of comments saying “but this character isn’t like this in canon” and some people legitimately get angry if you’re not following the canon.
Like- shipping and fandom culture from what I understand it is about engaging with media in a way that caters to you. And if you don’t like a ship or show just… block the relevant tags and don’t engage in the ships? The internet isn’t supposed to cater to us- we have to cater ourselves to our internet environment. And no matter how many times people may harass others over a fandom or ship they don’t like, those ships are not gonna disappear.
The internet has just been getting worse when people have decided to place morality in their opinions by saying things like “if you enjoy the ship then you support (insert horrible thing here that’s usually completely unrelated to the ship itself)” when it used to be “eh, not my thing” and people just moved on.
And for the record this isn’t about a specific ship or anything- just an observation of how fandom has evolved (and regressed) over the years and I find it fascinating from a sociological perspective cause we still don’t know how having the internet from birth affects the development of kids and how that affects how they interact with others- isn’t that scary?
I know that’s slightly unrelated but the way people engage in media has been changing over they years and that also involves fandom and the maturity level thereof in the internet space and someone smarter than me could probably write a whole thesis paper about fandom culture and how the internet has hindered the social development of people and how that affects community specifically from a fandom lens.
Just- for your sanity younger internet children: it’s not worth harassing others over something as trivial as ‘it’s not canon that this character kisses another character.’ Just find ships you like. Block ships you don’t. And just enjoy your time doing what you like!
You can’t control the internet but you can nurture your little corner of it.

....................i bought an orchid.
wish me luck?
I am no Qui Gon. I kill plants really easily. but I will try. For you! the Orchid Star Wars Friend in my computer!!
YES!
YESSS!!!
MUHAHAHAHAHHAHAAHAHA
the orchid agenda continues! i shall singlehandedly stop the public from misjudging them as a finicky plant!! it will be my magnum opus!!!
anyways. the three thinking steps to a healthy, happy orchid are:
immediate repot in orchid bark and a not too deep see-through glass container (salad bowls are my go-to)
when u repot cut off all dry and brown or mushy black roots, leaving only healthy bright green ones
put in close relation to a window and water once a week (maybe more at times when the air is really dry)

Making some progress this week!
Was able to begin doing little 5 min toning vids this week, might not seem like much but considering how out of shape and out of practice with exercise I am it's a lot.
I have felt like NAPPING multiple times this week, which is I haven't felt compelled to do since Fall- I assumed it was cause of the cool weather but now I think it's the exercise. Maybe I'll be able to drink green tea again! EVENTUALLY!!!
Want to work up to doing 30 mins of cardio like I could in highschool and considering 5 mins is enough to get me out of breath and I've specifically been doing strength stuff since it gets your heart rate up a bit but not nearly as much as cardio to ease myself back into things, it's going to be a long way from now. But honestly any kind of exercise should be very very good for the anxiety.
Did 20 mins of walking the past WEEK which again is rlly great, couldn't walk for 5 mins without getting out of breath and anxious just a couple weeks ago (guessing it was the PMDD but still) and by gods it does help with my mood and I think sleep too since I haven't been having as hard of a time... but I am due to PMS soon so maybe I'm getting my hopes up too high and too fast.
Also been 3 weeks straight that I've brushed my teeth and TMI but for like a year I'd brush them once or twice a week cause it just didn't seem worth it to take care of my body.
Still not able to fully walk around the courtyard cause last time I thought I'd have to run back to the apartment but instead I've been walking in different directions (only a couple feet mind you) so I can begin increasing the "safe" range hopefully. I assume that's progress?? It's definitely nice weather, we got some rain this past week so the grass is finally green again. ALSO been getting out every single day, even for 1 min, the past 2 weeks straight I think. Which is AMAZING considering even like 2-3 months ago I straight up couldn't go outside.
I've also had a couple of nightmares this week after not having any (that I can remember) for literal years, which might sound like a bad thing, but I think it may be therapy is beginning to dig up stuff that's been dormant. Religious trauma mainly most likely.
Been just cooking a lot and singing a bit here and there, and that's generally an indicator I'm doing better.
Know that I know I have adhd, but figuring out small ways to accommodate myself (chopping up veggies and freezing them, both cause I have time blindness and forget about basically veggies till they're rotten and cause if I have them pre-chopped I'm more likely to reach for them, walking in chunks of 5 mins at a time since it doesn't feel nearly as awful as a nonstop 20 min + doing something like cooking/cleaning while I walk, etc)
ALSO idk if I mentioned it but realized I've officially dropped 20 pounds since this time last year!! I still have about 40 to go but it's a big step for me. I gave up on my diet since like december since my mental health was going to such shite, but I realized I've been losing weight without even meaning to just by eating healthier and walking more. I literally thought I was dying + had cancer but um. You can just lose weight unintentionally by eating things that are lower calorie and moving more. You don't have to count every calorie. You don't have to do cardio. It's actually quite a natural process.
So yea just progress report!

**Kickstart Your Health with Ginger Shots! 🌟**
I've prepped ginger shots for the next 12 days for me and the hubby. 👫 This powerful little drink is packed with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory benefits. It’s our secret weapon for boosting immunity! 💪
**Here’s our go-to recipe:**
- **1 orange** 🍊
- **1 lemon** 🍋
- **1 apple** 🍏
- **1 mango** 🥭
- **0.25 lbs of ginger** 🫚
- **1 tbsp powdered turmeric** ✨
- **1 tbsp black pepper** 🌶️
**Instructions:**
1. Peel the orange, lemon, and mango. Core the apple.
2. Cut all the fruit and ginger into smaller pieces.
3. Use a cold-press juicer to extract the juice. If you don't have one, blend everything until smooth, then strain the mixture to get a pure juice.
4. Add the turmeric and black pepper, stirring well to combine.
**Storage Tips:**
You can store the shots in single-use containers or do like I do: store them in one container and measure out 1-ounce servings, mixing 1 part ginger shot with 2 parts water. Keep them in the fridge for a refreshing and potent health boost! They keep for 1 week or freeze for 3 months. I freeze any I won't finish in a week and thaw as needed!
Try making your own batch and feel the difference. Cheers to health and wellness! 🥂
---
Enjoy your daily ginger shots! 🥤
