To continue the series on smocking, this picture shows the stitches that hold the pleats together. I love this simple stitch, but you can do more elaborate work (embroidery) as well. When you work with beautiful, high quality materials, you will see that a design can be elegant in a basic pattern. The fabric tells the story. In this case, the transparency and shine of the metallic silk organza has power in itself. It really doesn’t need more extravaganza.
