hello !! may i request billy trying to "woo" steve but hes oblivious to it ? and it gets to a point where nacy is Tired of billy looking like That when steve plays offs his advances and she just decides to help him out with a relucent jonathan ? robin is there too but she isn't gonna say anything bc she loves a good show. thank you !!!

Jonathan was sitting on the counter, Nancy leaning on his legs when Billy walked in.

He smiled sheepishly at them, heading towards where Steve was behind the counter, chatting as he rewound tapes. He ducked over into the horror section, re-emerging quickly, obviously knew what he was comin’ in for.

“Oh, Exorcist. I haven’t seen this one. Steve was all smiles as he stood up to help Billy.

“It’s pretty good. Lots a’ gore, and stuff.” Billy side eyed Jon and Nancy, leaning a little further over the counter. “We could watch it together, if you wanted.”

Billy had gotten a nice studio apartment in downtown Hawkins with the government cash out he had gotten from the whole Starcourt ordeal. Steve had helped him move in, hadn’t been back since.

“Sorry, man. Don’t really like horror movies.”

Nancy noted how dejected Billy looked when Steve looked down to punch in the amount on the register. Billy left with a small wave and Nancy reached over to whack Steve in the arm.

“What the hell was that for?” He was pouting at her, rubbing his arm.

“You’re an idiot, Steve Harrington.”

“What’d I do this time?”

“Billy just asked you out!” Steve’s eyes were wide.

“No?”

“Yes.”

“No, he just invited me over. He does that a lot. usually he rents movies I don’t think I would like, though.”

“He wants you to come over and get scared so he can protect you, or whatever.”

“N-no.”

“Yes. He wants to sit on the couch, and put his arm over you, and he wants you to hide your face in his chest when you’re scared literally all guys use that move.” She considered Jonathan for a moment. “Current company excluded.”

“I still don’t think he was asking me out.”

“Billy!” Nancy just so happened to be loitering near his apartment building as Billy was returning from his weekend job at the garage near family video. Billy started when she called his name.

“Uh, hey Nancy.” He was fidgeting with the buttons on his coveralls.

“Look, Steve is sweet, but he’s the most oblivious person on the planet.” Billy tightened his jaw, a shadow of his rough self, his rough pre-Starcourt self.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” He tried to push past her, but she just followed him up the stairs.

“I know you were trying to ask him out yesterday.”

“Wasn’t tryna do shit.”

“I don’t care that you’re into him. I want to help you.” She rolled her eyes.

“Help me?” He raised one eyebrow as they crossed into his little apartment, appraising her. “Help me do what?” She turned to him, grinning wide.

“I’m going to help you get him.”

“He likes movies with a lot of adventure. A steady rise and fall of events. So, Indiana Jones, or Conan, or James Bond, all of those. And he loves westerns. He made me watch so many fucking westerns.”

“Sounds like he just likes hot guys.” Nancy rolled her eyes.

“He likes Barbarella, too. He doesn’t have much in the way of an attention span, so things need to be constantly happening. He took me to see Gremlins three times when it came to the Hawk.”

“Okay, so action adventure. Easy enough.”

“Well, he’s also got a big soft spot for sappy romances. And I’m talking the real sappy ones, not like Sixteen Candles, I mean Gone with the Wind, and Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and Cleopatra. He’s a big mushball, and he loves love.” Billy kinda felt like he should be taking notes at this point. “He has all these Italian films from the forties, and he says that’s what he grew up watching, and they’re all very romantic. He loves watching those, because then he’ll translate the whole time, and I think that makes him feel romantic, it’s a whole thing.”

“Wait, he speaks Italian?”

“His mother was born in Italy somewhere. It’s his first language.”

“Shit, I didn’t know that.”

“He’s quite proud of it. He was raised by his grandmother, his nonna, and still knows all of her recipes.”

“That’s cute.” Billy thought for a second. “So, I should invite him over for a movie he’d like, and if I conveniently had all the ingredients for some complicated Italian dish, just like, around, he could be into that?”

Nancy stared at him.

“Wow. You’re just as mushy as he is.”

“Don’t hate.”

“You need to help me.”

“Nance, I just don’t feel like we should get-”

“Of course we should get in the middle of this! Our friends have a chance to be happy, together.” Jonathan huffed.

“Nancy, be honest with me. Are you just trying to do this because you genuinely want Billy and Steve to be happy, or because you still feel guilty about everything that happened with Steve?” Her mouth dropped open.

“I, I don’t-no.” She shook her head. “Of course not.” Jonathan raised an eyebrow at her. “No, Jon. I want them to be happy.”

“Okay, but I still don’t think we should interfere.”

“Of course we should. You saw them the other day, they cannot do this themselves. I’ve already talked to Billy.”

“You already-Nancy.” He gave her a look.

“What? I’m helping.” He rolled his eyes.

“Nancy’s making me talk to you.” Jonathan kept his voice monotone.

“Um, about what?” Steve was reshelving tapes, Jonathan following behind him with the box full.

“About Billy.”

“What about Billy?”

“She wants to help you two get together.” Steve laughed.

“I know she means well, but he does not like me like that.”

“She seems to think he does. Apparently, she’s already talked to Billy. They’ve got a whole plan.”

“A plan? What do you mean?”

“She told him all of your favorite movies and they’re idea is that you’ll go to his place and you’ll cook dinner together and watch a movie.”

Steve’s eyes were big when he looked up at Jonathan.

“Wait he, there’s actually a plan?” He was picking at the peeling sticker on a Cinderella tape. “What are we gonna cook?”

“I don’t know. Billy said he’s just gonna get a bunch of vague Italian shit, his words, and he’s hoping you’ll take over from there.” Steve smiled to himself.

“Um, you think you could get him a list? So he doesn’t just have to buy stuff.” Jonathan furrowed his brows.

“Wait so, you’re good with this?”

“I mean, it’s kinda, it’s kinda sweet.”

“So, her plan worked?”

“Well, I still gotta go on the date.” Steve returned to shelving tapes.

“But, you’re going?”

“Yeah. If he asks.”

“Get me a grocery list. And believe me, he’ll ask.”

Steve had picked one of his favorite recipes, giving Jonathan a list to casually slip to Billy.

He had been waiting all week for Billy to come back, rent some movie he loves, and ask him over.

But it had been days since he had spoken with Jonathan.

And he was losing hope.

“What’s up, Mopey?” Robin was fake pouting at him.

“Billy hasn’t been in in a while. Is all.” Steve shrugged, tried to act all casual.

Robin rolled her eyes.

“Missing your boyfriend?”

“Shut up.” His face was red as he mumbled. “Nancy and Jonathan kinda, they kinda made a plan, and I think he’s just, I think Billy’s not actually gonna go through with it.” She sighed.

“Look, I told Nancy I was not gonna get mixed up in this, but, he likes you, Dingus. He’s not backing out, he’s not blowing you off. Take a breath.”

“I’m just, I care about him, you know? He’s been through a lot. I don’t wanna fuck it up.” Steve was scuffing his foot against the ground, watching it intently. “I always fuck it up.”

“Hey, it’s just one date. And maybe there’ll be a next, and a next, but for now, take the date. Have a good night.”

Jonathan was back on the counter, watching Billy psych himself up outside.

He was hoping from foot to foot, obviously practicing everything he was gonna say.

Steve was being very good at not making eye contact with everyone.

The bell above the door made a loud sound as Billy shoved it open.

He stared at his feet as he hid himself in one of the aisles.

Steve gave Nancy a panicked look.

“Breathe,” She hissed at him. He took a few deep breaths in and out of his mouth, his eyebrows scrunched together.

A few minutes later, just as Steve had calmed himself down, Billy came back out of the aisle, a few different tapes in his hands.

He set the tapes down, giving Steve a nice smile, a real smile.

“Hey, Bill.” Steve wasn’t even looking at the tapes.

“Hi, Pretty Boy.” Steve flushed. “What’re you up to tonight?”

It was painful, watching the two of them dance around one another. Billy didn’t know Steve was in on the plan, didn’t know Steve was fucking vibrating and the speed of sound for Billy to ask him out.

“Um, nothing much. Just gonna go home.”

Nancy slapped Jonathan’s leg, pulling him into one of the aisles, spying on the two from around the shelf. Robin stayed sitting behind Steve, snapping her gum.

“You could come over, if you want. Watch one a’ these.” Steve finally looked down at the tapes, brightening up right away.

“I love Barbarella.”

“That’s ‘cause you’re a human.” Steve laughed as he punched in the amount. There were beginning to fall into a rhythm, Steve picking up the next tape.

“Oh shit.” He was holding the Sound of Music tape like it was made of gold. “I used to really love this movie.”

“We can watch it, if you want. I’ve never seen it.” Steve looked at him like he had an extra head.

“You’ve never seen it? Billy, what the fuck? We’re so watching this tonight.” He picked up the last tape.

“That one I got for me.”

“I uh, I didn’t even know this movie existed.” He was staring wearily at the mutant on the front, tracing the font spelling out Forbidden World.

“Oh Pretty Boy, you’d hate it.” Steve laughed. He took Billy’s neat bills, practiced hands made quick change.

Their hands brushed as Steve passed over the coins.

“You want me to bring anything? Tonight?”

“Just yourself.”

“Nothing for dinner?”

“I mean, I got some stuff. If you wanna, like, make something.” Billy was fidgeting with the tapes.

“Yeah, I, uh, I really like cooking. We could, like, cook together.”

“I’d like that.” Steve gave Billy one of his sunshiniest smiles. Made Billy melt a little. “What time you get off?”

“Five.”

“Be over as soon as you can, then.”

“Okay. Yeah, I’ll be there.”

“It’s a date then, Stevie.” Steve was grinning like he had won the fucking lottery. Billy gave him a stupid little two finger salute, nearly ramming into the glass door on this way out.

Steve waited until Billy was safely out of view of the storefront windows before he lost his shit.

He was wiggling around like the happiest little worm, Nancy coming out of hiding to give him a hug.

Robin snapped her gum at him when he tried to get near her, so he hugged Nancy again.

“Hey, thank you guys. For, for everything.” Jonathan clapped him on the back.

“No problem, man. Just do us all a favor, and get laid.”

fandom: riverdale pairing: archie andrews/betty cooper, barchie There were so many choices that felt so small at the time. It seemed as if she blinked while getting a refill of her milkshake at Pop’s and woke up in a forest, covered in her boyfriend’s blood. She had been so many Betties between them - in a bunker, at the farm, chasing down a masked killer, in a black wig, holding Chuck Clayton’s head under water —

Standing beneath her porch light, her heart in her throat while Archie Andrews said, “I can’t give you the answer that you want.”

Was that the end of the beginning or the beginning of the end?--

Her sense of narrative structure made her wish it was as easy as a before-and-after.

There was such clarity in a defining moment, in being able to spot the time when everything changed. There was a Cheryl before and after Jason died; a Jughead before and after he slipped on the Serpent jacket; the Breakfast at Tiffany’s Veronica before she turned In Cold Blood.

There was no clean before-and-after for Betty Cooper. There were so many choices that felt so small at the time. It seemed as if she blinked while getting a refill of her milkshake at Pop’s and woke up in a forest, covered in her boyfriend’s blood. She had been so many Betties between then - in a bunker, at the farm, chasing down a masked killer, in a black wig, holding Chuck Clayton’s head under water —

The old Betty, wherever she began and ended, was characterized by her discipline.

Every day, she suited up in her prim cardigans and slick ponytail, ready for another day as the dutiful daughter, the doting sister, the star student. She could handle any pop quiz, any turbulence in the Cooper household, any pressing deadlines at the Blue and Gold. When the pressure got to be too much, she would clench her fists and breathe through it.

And every night, she looked out her bedroom window at what she really wanted. Second floor, second window from the back, calling to her like a lighthouse. Archie’s window was lit up at all hours of the day and night, whether he was strumming his guitar or dozing off with a movie on. It was her nightlight. She fell asleep to its comforting glow, knowing their time would come one day.

She had to be disciplined, because she was hungry. Sometimes it scared her, how strongly she felt. There was a bottomless pit of want inside of her and she tiptoed around it, testing the edges but never letting herself fall in. Betty didn’t want to be the kind of person who was dragged around by her id. She wanted to be the person that other people thought she was. Sometimes that meant sleepless nights helping Polly learn her cheer routine, piling more volunteer hours on top of her already packed schedule, turning the other cheek to another Blossom insult.

Season five Betty Draper, Cheryl had once called her, as if she knew the half of it.

Betty had never thought Archie would love her in the exact way that she loved him.

She knew that love took different shapes in each container. She could see the way her mother and father fit together, pushing and pulling but ultimately a team, making each other better - a real laugh, in retrospect. One of her favorite memories was being eight years old, when Alice had just broken a big story. The pride lit her up from the inside and Hal’s beaming face reflected it right back. But she had also watched from next door as the Andrews fell apart. Fred and Mary lost something that seemed sweet and steady and kind, and then Fred puttered around that big house alone.

She thought about what that love might feel like, when it finally came.

Archie was all sweetness. Being his girlfriend would mean never walking to school alone, sporting his letterman jacket at games, and dancing together at prom. It would be afternoons working on a jalopy in the garage and nights cuddling together on the sofa. He would write songs about her and she would proofread his college essays and they would move to New York together after graduation.

It would be an awful lot like being his friend had been since they turned 13 and their parents had put a moratorium on sleepovers, except that she would get to touch the abs that had been taunting her. The heart that beat under those defined pectoral muscles was pure gold and it was an even better prize.

Something murkier lay beneath the surface for Betty. Sometimes she wondered if she loved him or if she coveted him. She wanted to know every thought in his head, every dream in his heart. Long before the school hallways had started to echo with Archie got hot!, she had been daydreaming about ways to get his hands on her. There were no dibs on a person, but she saw him first and had seen only him since.

Betty had never thought that Archie would burn for her, but she basked in his steady glow. Archie lived closer to the surface - he wore his heart on his sleeve and an easy smile on his face. That was one of the things she loved about him. They would be so happy together, but his devotion would never match hers.

It wasn’t until she was standing at the edge of a shallow grave, looking down at his terrified, resolved face with a shovel in her hand and a gun to her head, that she realized they may have misjudged each other.

A dam had broken in Betty Cooper earlier that fall.

It could have been one thing or any number of things — Veronica Lodge sweeping into town, Polly’s mysterious disappearance, Jason Blossom’s body washing up in Sweetwater River. It was an unusually active September, especially by Riverdale’s sleepy standards.

For Betty, it felt like the foundation had been cracking. With one firm tap, it was gone.

You are so perfect. I’ve never been good enough for you, I’ll never be good enough for you.

The careful balancing of what she should want versus what she did want is what had kept her in check for all these years. No one else seemed to have the same qualms. Betty couldn’t imagine Cheryl or Veronica denying themselves a thing. In fact, she knew they wouldn’t. Veronica had talked a big game about turning over a new leaf, but after less than a week in Riverdale, Veronica had seven minutes in a closet and Betty had a box of Magnolia cupcakes.

Only Betty had the discipline to decide to be something and then become it. It had gotten harder for her to see how that was a good thing.

Jughead’s interest in Betty was both a balm and a sting.

Boys had never been interested in her. She wasn’t sure if it was because word of her strict parents preceded her or because her crush on Archie was so obvious that it was not worth getting their hopes up. Whatever the reason, she had made it sixteen years without being asked to the drive-in, having a note slipped in her locker, or having rocks thrown at her window by someone who wanted to date her. She did all those things with her best friend and had become aware that it was not the same.

Until Jughead crawled through her window and gave her her first real kiss, she didn’t realize exactly how different it was.

Being on the other side of the equation was a revelation. It was amazing to think that there was someone who liked her more than anyone else, who thought about her when she wasn’t around, who wanted to kiss her and hold her hand and maybe more one day. Jughead was a good person - he was cute and smart, with a wicked sense of humor that tickled at the dark side she kept such a lid on - but what made him special is that he thought she was special. Betty had never come first to anyone before and she dove into intimacy with the same enthusiasm and determination that she put into any task.

But it was her way to acknowledge the cloud even while she focused on the silver lining. Besides her, Jughead was Archie’s best friend in the world. If other boys had avoided her due to some unspoken claim, surely he would find her to be even further off limits. If Jughead liked her, it was because Archie never would.

Somehow it was more devastating than the rejection itself. A dramatic showdown in formalwear still fit with the narrative that she had imagined for Archie-and-Betty. Power couples faced obstacles. Even after homecoming, even after Melody, even after Veronica, a part of her still though she should be patient. It was the utter lack of drama in her courtship with Jughead that made it real. There was nothing to be dramatic about.

She made her peace with it, first with her nails dug into her palms but then genuinely. The pieces of her heart felt like they were rearranging. Jughead had burst his way in and made his home right in the center. The part that housed her feelings for Archie was smaller, but the scars had made the walls thick and tough.

She would always love him and now she knew what shape it would take. She felt lucky to have enough love in her life that she could feel the difference.

It took a few months, but Betty started to think Jughead might be her soulmate. They both felt a personal obligation to clean up Riverdale’s seedy underbelly, loved books and old movies, and, most importantly, they hated the same things about her. On his lips, “perfect” was scornful. After all of those years pursuing perfection, she wasn’t too fond of it herself.

People gave you a wide berth in the aftermath of a showdown with a killer.

Betty was distracted and distant in the weeks following the altercation with Joseph Svenson. People around town stared and whispered even more than usual, but they looked at her with pity and awe in their eyes. Even her mother and Jughead gave her space, assuming that she was reeling after weeks of cat-and-mouse.

When she was alone, Betty didn’t think about Joseph Svenson at all. She thought about Archie Andrews.

It wasn’t about the kiss, although it was hardly the one she had scripted for them long ago. She thought about the way that he had grabbed her hand as she put the pieces together and started to spiral, the only thing tethering her to this earth. She thought about how instantly he had responded to Get in the coffin or I’ll shoot her in the head right now.

To be willing to die for someone was the kind of sweeping statement of love and dedication that was easy to say because it was so unlikely to be tested. It was reserved for the most important people in your life, the ones that you would do anything to protect. When she was in danger, Archie hadn’t batted an eye. When she closed her eyes, all she could see was him lowering himself into a coffin for her. She had been looking at that face for years and years, had known it when it had a beaming smile of mismatched baby teeth, had admired its changing angles. His jaw was clenched but his eyes were as warm as ever when the lid closed over him.

It was unbelievable to think that only weeks ago, kisses and milkshakes had made her feel special. It wasn’t fair to hold up a high school romance against the ultimate sacrifice, but the tectonic plates of her life had shifted again. It was a secret humming under her skin. It was heady to know that there was someone in the world who would do anything for you.

In a way, the showdown with the Black Hood was the most romantic night of her life. That was Riverdale for you.

Betty stopped thinking about Hal Cooper almost as soon as he was locked away. She had spent so much time pouring over the Black Hood and puzzling over her family secrets that when she tried to align the man with the father, none of the pieces fit quite right anymore. After the loss of Hal and Polly, the Cooper family structure coalesced neatly around Betty and Alice as if it had always just been them.

Compartmentalizing and moving on was another discipline that Betty excelled at. Most of the time, anyway.

She thought about Fred Andrews all the time. The lights were out in Archie’s room for the first time that she could remember, but she knew that he was home. The loss was unspeakable, so she never tried.

Even for someone good at compartmentalizing, it could be hard for Betty to separate the way she felt about Veronica from how she felt about Veronica Lodge.

The simple truth is that they were friends because Veronica had decided they were friends. Betty had been skeptical but a little bit flattered. She had written Veronica off at first, sure that she would move on and nestle in at Cheryl's side like two rich bitch peas in a pod, but she had persisted.

No one had ever wanted to be her friend that desperately. Despite what her frilly pink sweaters might imply, she had never been much of a girl’s girl. Her only real friends were Archie and Kevin. That had always been more than enough for her, but there was something to be said for having Veronica in her corner.

But the only person better at compartmentalizing than Betty was Veronica Lodge. Veronica could claim that she was destined to be Betty’s best friend while snatching her lifelong crush out from under her. She could disavow her family’s shady business dealings, then join Lodge Industries and keep quiet about their plans for the Southside. She could love Archie, then sit by while her father destroys his life.

Betty had been tap dancing around questions of morality for a while. One did not get to make too many principled stances when their boyfriend was a gang leader who once partially skinned a woman, and she tried not to throw too many stones from inside a house where she had once blackmailed Cheryl Blossom into testifying on behalf of FP Jones. As she started to shed more and more of her Nice Girl persona, Betty thought she had become more understanding of all the gray in the world.

In a sweltering court room after Labor Day weekend, Betty had found the thing she could never forgive. She watched stupid - noble, self-sacrificing, stupid - Archie jump at a plea deal for a crime he had not committed, all to spare them another trial. Veronica had cried and dropped her head into her hands, but Betty could still see flickers of her in Hiram Lodge’s satisfied smile.

Betty held her friend as she cried and clamped down on her latest intrusive thought - none of this would be happening if it weren’t for you. From learning to read to wrestling him from Ms. Grundy’s clutches, there had never been a problem Betty could not solve for Archie until he crossed Hiram’s path. There was nothing Betty wouldn't do for Archie, but there was nothing she could do for him now, so she averted her teary eyes and tried not to let in the darkness that always seemed so close to the surface now.

Meeting Veronica Lodge was the worst thing that had ever happened to any of them.

When Betty used to dream of Archie as the leading man in every romance, she had imagined kissing him with a frequency that made her blush to think about even now.

She had been inexperienced and was not even sure what she was longing for. In her mind’s eye, she saw him in everything - the foot pop at the end of The Princess Diaries, the foggy window in Titanic, on the dock in The Notebook - hell, even Spiderman dangling upside down in the rain. It was a collage of images that she could not quite attach a sensation to, but it made her blood run a bit hotter.

When Betty tried to flesh out her fantasies, she relied on a few tangible things she did know - the smell of his cologne, which she had picked out; his increasingly hard biceps, flexing under her fingers when they linked arms on the way to school; the way his hair felt when she playfully ruffled it; the slow drag of his fingers across her back and stomach, when he was winding up to tickle her.

It was almost like an out of body experience when she flung the microphone to the ground. Betty was somewhere else in the garage as she and Archie sang, circling the microphone, their traded glances growing less playful and more searching, until he swung the guitar behind his back and reached for her.

The touch of his hand was like it had always been, the tether that held her to earth and made sure she didn’t miss a thing. Betty had never been more present. After all those years of patience and restraint, she couldn’t get close enough.

There was no clear before-and-after for Archie Andrews.

He had come a long way from being the boy-next-door. He had been the star football player and the sensitive musician. He had been groomed by his music teacher and apprenticed at the foot of a mobster. He had started a youth center for the underprivileged and shattered his hand pulling Cheryl Blossom out of a frozen river. It felt like a lifetime ago that it had just been Betty and Archie in a booth at Pop’s, but Betty didn’t feel like he had changed at all. When she looked into his eyes, she saw the same person staring back at her that she always had.

When there was such a bone-deep understanding, how could she ever feel like he was different? With every step he took, she was right there too.

It dawned on Betty that maybe her before-and-after had happened long before she started looking for it. There was a Betty Cooper before she loved Archie Andrews and she had been living in the after since she was 11 years old.

She flipped through her diaries, years and years of little choices. Her next one felt big.

Sleepover - Core Four

Hey so I was wondering if you could do a varchie fic where the course four have a movie night/sleepover as it's their last night together as they are going to college and they talk about old times and Veronica and Archie decide to go to bed and they talk about their future together and that leads to other times like them kissing and getting steamy

Warnings: slight smut

Archie was in the kitchen making copious amounts of Popcorn, and Betty was assembling drinks on a tray. Veronica was looking through the selection of movies, with supervision from Jughead who was sprawled on the couch behind her. The sounds of ice cubes clinking against glass had him sitting up and turning to see his beautiful Betty balancing four glasses of soda and a bag of chips on a tray. She set the tray down on the coffee table, being sure to give her boyfriend a nice view as she did. Straightening up she gave him a wink and he grabbed her hand, pulling her into his lap. Betty planted a kiss on his forehead and Jughead’s hands cupped her cheeks and pulled her into a long kiss.

“Guys, I know you are in love and whatever, but this is serious, we need to pick a good movie to set the tone for this sleepover” Veronica sighed.

Jughead released Betty’s face and rolled his eyes. Betty giggled and made her way back into the kitchen to find out what was taking Archie so long. Jughead slid off the couch and sat next to Veronica on the floor. She had four DVDs laid out in front of her; Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Casablanca, The Breakfast Club, and Sixteen Candles.

“No way. These are all chick flicks. And… Casablanca? We are going to college, not war!” Jughead scoffed.

“Shut up. This is a sad moment, we need a sad movie, Jughead. Anyway, I thought these would be right up your street. What do you suggest then?” Veronica argued back.

This debate went on for 15 minutes, and after lots of angry looks and sarcastic comments, the pair decided on Scream. Meanwhile, Archie and Betty had filled the room with snacks, drinks, blankets, and pillows.

Jughead put the disc in the machine and retreated to his spot on the couch. Betty sat so close to him that she might as well be in his lap. Archie and Veronica occupied the only other couch in the small living room, with a blanket pulled over them.

Archie wrapped his arm around Veronica and pulled her into his side. She tangled her legs in his and leant her head on his chest. “I hate scary movies” she whispered into his t-shirt.

Archie chuckled, “then why did you agree to this?”

“Billy Loomis is hot” she shrugged with a straight face. Archie pulled back and she looked up, a look of mock horror on his face. She leaned in for a kiss and whispered, “not as hot as you” against the corner of his mouth. Archie smiled and they settled back in to watch the movie.

“I’m gonna miss this” Betty mumbled, loud enough for the four of them to hear. Veronica looked across at her best friend and saw that her eyes were shining with unshed tears.

“I’m going to miss this too B, but don’t forget, we’re all going to be in and around New York, it won’t be too hard to get together, right guys?”

Archie and Jughead quickly nodded and murmured their agreement with the dark-haired princess. Betty sniffled and tucked her head into Jughead’s shoulder.

“I just don’t think anyone will ever understand me like you guys do. I mean, who else will understand everything that happened while we were at school. I mean, a kid was murdered…” Betty whispered.

Jughead kissed her hair and trailed his thumb in small circles on her shoulder.

“and we figured it out…” Veronica chimed in, smiling proudly.

“I think you’ll find that we figured it out” Jughead retorted, circling his hand above him and Betty.

“But we helped, right?” Archie interjected, a smile playing on his lips.

“Fine, fine, you helped. We’re a regular Scooby-doo gang” Jughead rolled his eyes and Betty giggled. He smiled down at her, happy that she was no longer on the verge of tears.

Archie sat back and Veronica leaned into him again. Pulling her knees up to protect her from whatever was about to come on screen.

The four of them watched the whole of Scream without another word, only the odd gasp or shriek from the girls, and flinches from the boys, who were too proud to show how jumpy they really were.

Veronica jumped off the couch as soon as the movie had finished and shuffled toward the TV, ejecting the disc and replacing it with Breakfast at Tiffany’s without giving Jughead time to argue. She stated that it was her happy film, and she needed to calm her nerves after watching the scary movie.

Jughead held his hands up in defeat and retreated to the kitchen to put the pizzas in the oven.

Two movies later and Betty had fallen asleep in Jughead’s arms, and Jughead had fallen asleep with his head leaning back against the wall behind him. Veronica looked up at Archie, who was yawning, and she giggled sweetly.

“Wanna go to bed?” she whispered, not wanting to wake the other couple.

“I thought this was a sleepover… aren’t we all meant to sleep down here?” he murmured, rubbing his eyes. Veronica raised an eyebrow and he smiled, standing and pulling her up with him. They tiptoed out of the room and she led him up the stairs.

Once they got to the top, Archie took a chance and lightly pinched his girlfriend’s rear, earning him a little squeak. She laughed and turned, pulling him into his own bedroom and kissing him ferociously.

They fell onto the bed together, Veronica straddling the boy beneath her. She sat up and gazed down at him, his tantalising smile drawing her in once more to kiss his soft lips. Archie’s hands slid up her thighs, pushing her skirt as they travelled upwards.

Veronica groaned and placed a hand on Archie’s chest, sitting up straight and making sure he doesn’t follow.

“Arch, we haven’t really talked about, like, what is going to happen when we go to college, which is crazy because it’s tomorrow, but like... have you been avoiding the topic?” she rambled, stopping only when he placed a gentle hand on her arm.

“Babe, I haven’t been avoiding it… I honestly didn’t think we had to talk about it, I just assumed that everything would stay the same…” Veronica smiled, his answer was definitely not what she was expecting, but she loved its simplicity.

“But, Archiekins, we are going to different schools, we will be living apart… I don’t want things to change. It took us so long to get to this point…” Archie could feel his girlfriend’s breathing quicken, and he quickly sat up and put a finger to her lips.

“Breathe, Ron” he smiled. She exhaled slowly as if the weight of the world was being lifted from her shoulders. “Is this what you’ve been thinking about? Why didn’t you tell me you were this worried about it?”

“I didn’t want you to think I was some clingy girlfriend. I like to think of myself as strong and independent, but sometimes I feel nervous and, just, not really myself…” she looked down, her hands fidgeting where they were clasped around his neck.

Archie smiled, the kind of smile that wordlessly said, ‘I love you’ and cupped her cheeks.

“I know you are strong and independent, hell, you are the strongest woman I have ever met” Veronica cocked her eyebrow at him, and he added; “alongside Betty” Veronica nodded and allowed him to continue. “But… you are allowed to feel weak sometimes, you don’t have to have it together all of the time… that’s what I’m here for, that’s what Betty is here for, and even Juggie if you let him in… what I’m trying to say is… I know that you want to figure things out on your own, and I know you want to be, and are, a strong, independent, feisty, one of a kind-“ Veronica cut him off with a kiss, but he pulled back wanting to finish his sentence “but you are not alone. Talk to me, okay?”

Veronica nodded, resting her forehead on his, her hands twirling the hairs at the nape of his neck.

“and as for going to college,” he continued in a whisper, eyes closed, “we will figure it out, we always do. We will make time for each other. I love you, Veronica Lodge, and I am not letting you go that easily.”

Veronica pulled back and gazed at him, tears threatening to spill, “I love you too, Archie Andrews”.

Archie beamed and pulled Veronica in for a long kiss, their tongues dancing together, hands skimming over one another’s bodies. Archie groaned and, grasping the back of Veronica’s thighs, stood up and spun around, placing Veronica on her back and looming over her. Veronica scooted up the bed, and he crawled in after her, leaning over her and gazing down at her in, memorising her beautiful eyes, her full lips, the blush on her cheeks.

Veronica’s legs wrapped around his hips and pulled him down so that he rested on his elbows, and kissed her once more.

Suddenly, the door swung open, and Jughead stood there, a triumphant smile playing on his lips, slightly out of breath from running up the stairs ahead of Betty, and hands on his hips. Betty almost crashed into the back of Jughead, ponytail messy and slightly askew from how she had been sleeping on the couch.

“I told you they were up here!” Jughead shouted in victory. Betty stuck her tongue out at him playfully and he laughed.

“Guys! A little privacy please?” Archie groaned, throwing a pillow at the pair. Veronica flung her arm over her eyes, her blush creeping over her face and a sweet giggle emanating from her lips. Archie’s head dropped to her shoulder and she wrapped her arm around his neck.

Betty pulled at Jughead’s arm, forcing him to back out of the room, pulling the door shut behind him. They heard their footsteps retreating, but not before Jughead shouted through the door “Use a condom!”

Archie groaned again, and threw another pillow at the closed door, earning another giggle from his dishevelled girlfriend.

– EATING DISORDER TW / Enjoying a meal’s hard, isn’t it? It started in high school, eating up every ounce of confidence Pauline had gathered over the years: She aimed to be better, prettier, pushed by her mother’s words. But most importantly, skinnier: At the tender age of sixteen the blonde noticed it’s all too easy if dinner’s not swallowed, nor breakfast or lunch. And if she had to, one would simply get rid of it, later. It was a fast destruction, caused by no one but herself and she kept it going until one day, a sickly pale blonde fainted — And woke up at the doctor’s hours later, the sting of a needle in her arm present. She was diagnosed with bulimia, promising everyone around her to work on the problem over numerous session with doctor feel better and so she did. But often, you can’t control old habits. It’s one of the reasons Sheffield seemed like the better option to live, its quiet, calm, eerily comfortable.

– Manhattan baby through and through, she moved to Sheffield on her own. New York City was waved goodbye to find something she never knew she could have: A connection to her biological father, the very first link she had to the now all American dream girl lifestyle. Up until then he had been nothing but a myth, her mother had rarely mentioned him in conversation: Marty Gilford. The teenage rebellion followed her to the small town, acting outstanding as a scream for attention as well as the want to start over. Finding yourself’s promoted in the last issue of Cosmopolitan.

– In the big city, Pauline struggled. The once fierce little girl turned into a wannabe, shallow and hungry for more and more local fame. The wrong group of friends and the wrong kind of guys surrounding the teenager, matters became worse. But how was one supposed to fight the urge to perfectly blend in at a private school in Manhattan? Once a wannabe, always a wannabe. She’s cooler in Sheffield, but as she grows older the blonde doesn’t know what’s more ridiculous: Wanting to be like everyone else or fearing those in charge. This year, she’s over it.

– She’s fluent in Czech. Her mother came to the US to get a taste of the life she wanted, a young girl from the Czech Republic slowly turning American. Her mom’s taught her well, or so she says in front of her family whenever certain terms mysteriously vanish from her brain. As a first generation American, English is Pauline’s first language, but whenever the blonde’s in trouble, her family resorts to snarky remarks in Czech. She’s been to Eastern Europe once or twice, but sadly doesn’t remember much of the culture or scenery.

– She’s torn when it comes to the supernatural. One, Pauline doesn’t believe in god, a real outdated principle to the young blonde. Ghosts, however, are a different thing. She’s witnessed enough plots of horror movies played out through fingers covering light eyes. A part of her wants to call jokes on Sheffield’s lore, the other part is terrified. Angels, demons and ghosts are things she secretly believes in, but wouldn’t tell anyone as she feels like it’s slightly embarrassing.

– Hollywood infected, her fashion icon is Grace Kelly. Pauline’s heart beats for older, more classical stuff: Grace Kelly, Bette Davis and Audrey Hepburn. Clothing must resemble one of a lady, never too revealing yet never too prude. A lot of the girl’s idols are rooted in the period of old Hollywood. One day, she can see herself with name in shining lights. Or at least with a happy smile on porcelain face.

CONNECTIONS

MARTY GILFORD – Until about two year ago, her father was unaware of her existence. Pushed by the need to start over, find out more about herself, Pauline was itching to meet the man who, after all, was her blood. After her arrival, it became clear that the two of them were struggling. Their relationship is quite rocky and even though they do have their good moments, they still have a lot of building up to do.

OLIVER HALONEN – Oliver acts as both, a sort of maternal figure and the older, cool sister she’s never had: Trust is fully given to the older, Pauline enjoys her time around Oli and the brunette never fails to make her feel comfortable in the eerie small town. Perfect Saturday nights so far have been spent with Oli, gossiping about Marty or the world or even dressing up as characters from Grease together. She currently lives with her because her father’s housing is a mess.

DAMIAN HOLSTAD – Her best friend’s brother is the one for her. It started out with casual flirts she rejected, always seeing Damian as more of a nuisance and womanizer. An impulse decision finally brought the two together on his birthday and they slept together, first once then twice. Now things are different, he’s not actually that bad and she kind of really does like him.

THEODORE LARSEN – The two of them come in a pair, wherever Pauline is, there is Teddy. Being the first person to show her around when the blonde started the school year in Sheffield, the quiet boy’s nature quickly complimented hers and so they became not just friends, but best friends who spend weekends at the Larsen’s, often watching soaps with his mother.

LOU HOLSTAD – A red-haired gloom meets a blonde blabbermouth and so they become unlikely friends, but later on best friends. Most of her time’s spent at the other’s house, for numerous reasons. She’s always on a mission to get him to leave the house, even though she does like The Smiths and diet coke. Lou being a witness to Pauline and Damian has put a little bump on their friendship.
